I hold both XMR and BBR (until something better may arise) - I don't see any reason for hostility between the two projects...

It is both annoying and intriguing actually.

What does that link mean, tacotime?

Successful attack achieved by including a corrupted block, we're trying to figure out what happened now.

transactions for 0.0000000 xmr = successful attack ?

Well its at least a bloat attack... but inserting a corrupted block.  woof.  I am worried about the implications.

Snide remark about ill treatment of a wide userbase/implied imaginary maleficence sobbing removed.

Lol... yeah.  I don't know why I would feel like you do not welcome me as a part of the BBR community...  It's all my imagination, you're right.

And just to be clear, I am not here for Risto, no disrespect for him.  I think of him as a shrewd investor, a bit of an auto didact, and someone who sees trends ahead of the curve, or someone very lucky.

He also relies on collective conversation about these topics.  It is THAT which I, and I would guess most others, are here for.

I am certainly NOT here for trolls.

Ignored.

Wave 2 consolidation here?  Where is the volume though?  And is this too bullish?  Plus I am about as gifted at EW as I am astro physics. Wink

I agree with you aliases are perhaps overrated and would, as you describe, create their own set of new problems.  But your argument would also have us just using IP addresses in the http url field up there.  I suppose the main reason is the comfort with a somewhat human readable alias as opposed to a fairly indecipherable string of ascii.
Don't set up a false choice between BBR-style aliases and typing numbers.

I am not intending to.  I was only talking about the advantage of aliases in a very general way, and how I would see it as beneficial.  To be honest I don't really care a lot how or if it is implemented, and am making NO comparisons to other coins at all.  I think there are issues much much more important than the trivial issue of aliases.  Still I like discussing things here in the forum, and did not mean to create a misunderstanding.

I will back off.

Is there any chance you'd ever get a real world SwC tournament going? Maybe like a yearly event.

We could play a game with cards and dealers... and then play one tournament where we all sit around with laptops and curse when we get disconnected.  Also people playing multiple accounts could just bring several laptops.

Smiley  I really like the idea though.
5308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: September 03, 2014, 08:41:47 PM
Is XMR going to implement aliases like BBR?

If not, why not?

So I happen to be around now, and you register Jung. Then someone else registers Jung1. Then Jung1982. Then Jung57. And eventually in a couple of years I have an address book that says that "Bob Simons is Jung27_AwesomeSauce"...so what have you really achieved? You're not negating the need to have address books.

There are ways to alias addresses, but this isn't one of them (see Zooko's triangle as an example of why this is a hard problem to solve).

I actually identify my addresses I use by finding some sort of word or mnemonic in the first 10 characters or so.  Sort of like a poor mans alias.

Can we try to keep it on topic here, not arguing about some other coin. Thanks.

Just a simple post to support the above notion.

这个硬币挺好的——希望能上中国的交易平台

bter.com 有一个硬币使用相同的技术XMR --- 你可能会问的补充BBR

does that mean boolberry will be added to bter?

it means a Chinese exchange has already done the groundwork for boolberry by having monero.  It should be fairly easy to add.

I found a single boolberry block ages ago.  Is it too late to assign my alias via that block?

Why the alias? Didn't you just "liquidate" yourself when price rose from 18,000 Satoshis to 30,000 Satoshis and announced it like it should be shared with the whole world just a few days ago?

Not sure exactly whats going on with boolberry but I am happily liquidating my small hedge there today,

This is another problem Boolberry faces. The demographic is currently the convoluted supporter of competing coin who are happily "liquidating" themselves on forum posts, trollboxes and other places for every BBR rise. Whether they actually do or not is debatable, but the fact that they are always giving an air of dumping etc in order to downplay the potential. I guess this card is being over played by the similar set of forum actors and those who have now started to look at the coin seriously, can see through the charades.

Meh.  I don't know who pissed in your cornflakes, but I see no reason for you to attack me here.  I have been a BBR miner and holder since June.  Who the hell are you again?  Oh that's right, a troll account made to attack a person who supports a sister coin.

People trade into and out of crpytos thousands of times a day.  Some people even make a living doing it.  I am not that good, but I have learned to sell when things go up, and buy when they go down.  Generally it has served me well.

I have no problem with there being rivalry between XMR and BBR.  In fact I see the competition as healthy for both coins.

Zoidberg kindly answered my question here about the alias.  And sussex even offered to help me get an alias.  That is the kind of thing that makes small communities like XMR, BBR and other coins attractive.  Mature enthusiastic developers and community members are important to a coin.  This is why I maintain the Monero dev donation thread.  It is a way I can contribute to a project I believe in.

You would think if a XMR fan comes and posts here you would welcome him and do your best to show a good community for the coin.  Zoidberg and Sussex certainly did.

Idiotic teenage trolls banging on keyboards will not stop Monero or Boolberry but it is a shame they are around nonetheless.

I am not "another problem Boolberry faces" as I don't matter that much.

As long as we are talking about problems, I will say this:  If your hope is for "Boolberry to overtake Monero".  Which would be better?  Insulting interested users, or welcoming them?

YOU and the likes of you are a current scourge on BBR and XMR.

Luckily though you matter even less than me.

Welcome back cAPSLOCK.

I have sent 0.04 btc to the btc address listed  on the first page which equals 10 XMR at the time sent.  Look I just bought 10 more XMR!

I would like to know when I can expect shipment of my bale of high quality hygiene paper.

Welcome.

But I think that last question is best directed to Risto. Wink

I like the logo.

The logo is not important.

This is my first post here, but I am not a "troll".  I am a significant holder, accumulating over the last months, and you can tell by my twitter @indiemaps that I have supported Monero in the past.  But I can't see how anybody can trust the socialist devs of this project after the revelations of the past few days.  I will not dump b/c I believe there is more BTC to be made off this flavor of the season coin.  But I have certainly lost my trust and faith in the coin and team.

The developers claim to want to separate the monetary system from the government, yet David Latapie also believes in socialist education, redistributionist schemes, and forced/violent taxation.  How this is compatible with an anonymous cryptocurrency is beyond me.

I and I hope all the other anarchists who have supported this coin in the past need to move on....to a coin with nonviolent developers who do not wish to force their views of society on us.

Dear me, you seem to have forgotten to think before posting.

Monero is purposely not easy at this point in time ..
A gambit that may backfire .. time will tell  ..

Triff ..

I'm not sure I'd call it entirely a gambit.  Perhaps it is parlaying the situation.

I believe the devs when they say:

1.  They want to do the work deliberately and carefully.
2.  They have some fundamental changes to make (database, clean up etc.) first.
3.  They all have limited time as they are not getting rich from a premine and therefore work.

Then the idea that "slow to bring features" which will allow the less tech adept to enter is a side effect of the current focus and pace.

I agree with you though it could backfire.  And the longer they take to get some fundamental coding finished the more likely the failure.

I don't think we are in danger yet, but I'd still like to see some notable progress soon.

Seems like Monero and duckNote are two
The best thing about duckNode is Wittgenstein.  He's dead.

Perhaps you and I could launch RabbitNote?  They would accuse us of being a pure clone, but they are just backwards....
