5301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is still the favorite choice on: July 05, 2021, 05:06:36 PM
Another crypto currencies don't have bitcoin's potential because they are biased. There is always a developer individual or team behind altcoins which have personal interests that could lead to blatant manipulation. With bitcoin it's different because the original crypto currency gives the impression it was created for a more idealistic loyal purpose by its creator Satoshi Nakamoto, who wasn't solely focused in financial gains, but mainly in financial freedom.
5302  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CONMEBOL] Copa America 2021 Discussion Thread on: July 05, 2021, 03:44:23 PM
Argentina and Colombia is a more interesting semi-final, and I think Colombia would go-through, they kicked Uruguay on penalties, and have a chance of their own to get the title, Argentina does not have team-spirit, and that is highly desirable to play against rivals like Colombia in kick-out competition phase

I don't think you have seen the performance of Argentina's past matches. Argentina as a team is much more stable now. They have scored 3 goals in the previous match with the help of Messi. We all knew Argentina's defense was weak. They have made the defense stronger now than ever before. They have conceded just two goals in five Copa America matches.
Argentinians are maybe smug towards another latin countries and sometimes lack sportsmanship, however not among themselves and not that much nowadays. I remember decades ago the rivality was too much stronger, which created a lot of conflicts between the players from Argentina against their rivals and between the different crowds. But the team itself plays well together and cooperatively around Messi's figure.
As I see Messi is a must for the team, without him Argentina doesn't go too far, but it doesn't mean he is selfish, since he helped a lot his teammates to score and build strategies during the last match against Equador. That is a good indicator at their favour.
5303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are Bitcoin and Crypto Really Like the Early Internet? on: July 05, 2021, 03:00:52 AM
I think we can say crypto currency and especially bitcoin have the same potential internet had during its early years. The point is how crypto currency and bitcoin are going to be changed or improved along the years, as internet has been. I believe the main aspect of crypto we know right now, that is decentralization, won't last for too long because centralized institutions have already plans to introduce their governance over digital currencies and those which they can't control are going to be more heavily regulated each new day.

We can say internet aged well through so many years and implementations, but could we say the same about crypto currency in a near future?
5304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Risk of Axie Infinity NFT Game? on: July 05, 2021, 02:21:51 AM
The risks are the same than the risks you take by investing in any crypto currency: market volatility, hype, sudden decrease of demand for the game, what would lead to a crash in prices. Everyone must understand these risks when investing not only in Axies, but in any blockchain game. If the prices are skyrocketing it's because there are a lot of people demanding for it, but demand doesn't stay on top forever and once demand is over, players will see their in game daily income decreasing considerably. Thus it's necessary to calculate how much money you are going to invest, in how long you will recover it also considering SLP price might go down.

For some people it will worth anyway, because they enjoy playing the game, so it can take even several years to hit RoI that they won't bother. Or like others like to say: I would play the game even if I didn't earn anything from it.
5305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will El Salvador become the "Home of Bitcoin"? on: July 05, 2021, 12:06:11 AM
I agree with those who say it's hard to happen. El Salvador isn't an independent country. It fully relies in foreigner income to maintain themselves. As we can see they use dollar and don't have a national income, more than 20% of the country's income come from other countries and more recently they made a partnership with China, receiving investements from the asian country.
A country so dependent on others can't become bitcoin's home, because bitcoin demands independency and autonomy (and a plentiful source of energy as well, what I think El Salvador doesn't have).

Actually, after seeing the partnership between El Salvador and China something started smelling really bad. I don't know how bitcoin would fit on that situation. A bitcoin friendly country involved with a country which banned bitcoin. Huh
5306  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To what extent can sport be strengthened with cryptocurrencies on: July 04, 2021, 09:15:31 PM
Crypto currency proportionates more accessibility to sports through sports betting and help to promote them in countries where crypto is popular, but some sports aren't. For an example, let's say you are deeply inside crypto universe and sports betting and you see some sports that aren't popular in your country on a crypto gambling platform. But since it's popular in crypto universe, you become used to it after a while and even start betting on the sport. So we can conclude crypto currency helped to promote that respective sport to a new group of people.
5307  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CONMEBOL] Copa America 2021 Discussion Thread on: July 04, 2021, 03:17:44 PM
I guess the final is going to be Brazil versus Argentina (or would it be Neymar versus Messi?). Brazil should take Peru down relatively easy and Argentina will most probably win against Colombia if Messi keeps carrying the team on his back. Although Colombia isn't an easy adversary like Peru.

Well, so far this cup hasn't presented any surprises. The favorites are the ones going to dispute the trophy at the finals.
In times like this it's really hard to be focused on sports, so it might be the reason why so many players besides the main idols haven't shown an impressing performance during the games.
5308  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CONMEBOL] Copa America 2021 Discussion Thread on: July 02, 2021, 07:21:53 PM
Brazil and Argentina have always been the favorites in this tournament and at this moment too, I think both teams seem to have their luck because the opponents they face are not in as good condition as the Copa America titles in previous years. Just look at other teams like Uruguay, Chile even though they can advance to the quarter-finals but in fact, their game in the group stage does not seem to have high enthusiasm or maybe because the pandemic period is very influential in a deserted field without spectators.

I have wondered myself how it's going to be like playing in countries where the people are suffering, like in Brazil recently where they passed 500 thousand mark of covid deaths. HALF A MILLION that is bigger almost twice than the city I work in right now and I feel it gets crowded. Imagine that? I couldn't play properly thinking of all these things to be honest.

I wonder though if Brazil plays with extra effort BECAUSE they know this and they want to give their people something fond to look at this year?
I don't think the team would put any extra effort on the game, because they didn't even want to play the cup at first moment when it was said Brazil would held the event. There were a lot of talks behind the curtains, involving the coach and some players, threating to not participate the cup because the pandemic. However, they were demoralized since all other championships were running smoothly despite coronavirus.
So they gave up this rebellion and accepted playing at the event. Actually these guys play only for money and sponsorship, not for the country or any patriotic value.

The attempt to not participate the cup at first moment had a political agenda interest.
5309  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does implementing a tax on a gambling platform really help a country? on: July 01, 2021, 11:30:02 PM
I don't think it should be treated that way, casinos for sure do not belong to taxes on salary, so you are saying those who are tax-like salary are those who are making a profit in casinos? Casinos operate as a business, they have their income and expenses, and as long as they are in profit after a certain period, they should also pay the corresponding tax. It's a complicated matter especially if we are not well versed with taxation, but in simple terms, we can understand that business does always pays taxes, different forms of taxes actually but the most common is the income tax.

I think everyone agrees that casinos are a business and therefore, like any business, they must pay taxes. Disputes begin when we talk about the tax on winnings. In my opinion, it should be zero or something very small. In the end, it is impossible to have a regular income from gambling, why not regard this as a gift of fate)
Yes, it's already hard enough to hit a nice prize in gambling and finally when someone win the jackpot the government is ready to take a big piece of the cake. Interesting that when we lose, the government doesn't share the loss with us, but when we win we must share our winnings with the government.
This kind of situation gives some notion about how things really work and how the government is not worried about anyone else besides themselves collecting maximum money as possible from people. Then someone might say these taxes will be returned to people in public services. And I would say this money is only going to public employees pockets, because the country has a lot of them to maintain.
5310  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Vegas Casinos to allow Cannabis Lounges. on: July 01, 2021, 09:39:15 PM
I really hope only few casinos adopt these called cannabis lounges, because not everyone support this idea, especially the bad smell it causes around. Also, many elders like to gamble at land based casinos, because they don't know how to use computers or smartphones and I believe they won't tolerate such habits as well, since they come from an older generation from a time when it was unacceptable.
Casinos must think about the pros and cons carefully before adding any new features to their businesses.

In fact, cannabis was used 10-20 years ago and it is still being used. But while earlier cannabis smokers had to carefully conceal their addiction, after the legalization of cannabis in California, Nevada and Massachusetts, it was no longer necessary. Note that the majority of citizens in these states voted for the legalization of cannabis.

Cannabis has been used for decades if not centuries - it is well associated with the "swinging sixties" for a reason. It has just been treated with varying degrees of illegality and was associated much closer to harder drugs than it should have been by the average police officer. I'd definitely have to agree though that the smell is way more potent and sometimes sickly compared to the fairly consistent tobacco smoke that most will know. It also has the downside of passing on it's intoxicating effect via second hand smoke, even if it's exhaled by the first user there will be some THC effects that are released and these could wrongly affect others in a public environment - they definitely need segregating unlike any other group.
I agree it has been used for a long time already, but in past decades, like the sixties, it was only used by few groups and like madnessteat said, people smoked it concealed from the society. However, since the beginning of 2000's and even more after 2010 I see things reversed and people who don't make use of drugs or don't support it are the minority while being seen by the society like drugs users were seen decades ago, in a negative way.
I remember when I was a kid there were advertisements on the television against drugs. Probably such propagandas couldn't even be made nowadays because there would be a lot of criticisms and retaliation. Anyway I still believe majority of elders from any societies are against cannabis.
5311  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Vegas Casinos to allow Cannabis Lounges. on: July 01, 2021, 06:31:12 PM
When you feel it's your lucky night after smoking all the stuff inside the shisha pipe, you are really tipsier.

During the days where there is yet no covid, they didn't approve this one but today it seems okay to them. I guess they figured when a gambler is tipsy, they won't be worrying of getting infected and will even spend more on Cannabis or become a high roller as well. Yep Cannabis to reopen Economy!

The casinos are generating enough profits and they don't need to make their customers tipsy to generate more revenue. And this news about the launch of cannabis lounge is for just one of the casinos. I don't think that the other bigger casino chains would approve similar measures. There is some sort of desperation in general from the casino owners, due to the dampened economic conditions. Now with the economy opening up, they are trying to make up for the lost profit in the previous months by trying to attract new customers.

5312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee is dead, are his coins lost? on: July 01, 2021, 05:39:56 PM
Anyways,
If that he is telling the truth (probably) then, we have nothing to worry about it.
He is gone together with his assets and now it belongs to the government. Well, the question is how the authorities manage those seized cryptos? Are they might spend it or give it to the poor people or in charity? I hope that will be happening.
In case of seized assets the government can hold or sell through an auction. Bulgaria for an example, was discovered to be a bitcoin whale holding more than 213,519 bitcoins. If other countries are smart they are also going to hold seized bitcoins just like Bulgaria did. This way they can invest in bitcoin without having to pass any law in the legislative house, what would take a lot of time and in many countries bribery for congressmen vote favourably. About McAfee, however, I don't know if they are going to find anything... Let's see soon.

Bulgarian government actually owns $3 billion USD in Bitcoin (Mar 24, 2021)
5313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee is dead, are his coins lost? on: June 30, 2021, 10:53:28 PM
He claimed to have nothing else in his hands regards crypto. It's not possible to know, however, if he was telling the truth or just trying to keep his treasure safe from third party undesired attention. Anyway that is not an impossible mistery to be solved, because transactions can be tracked and if authorities investigate it carefully they will find a connection betweeen McAfee, his coins and its currently whereabouts.
Or maybe he was just saying the truth and there were no coins left, what I think might be the real history, since he was in financial difficulties, as it is well known due to living a life without rules or limits.

5314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Axie Infinity Thread [self moderated for spammers] on: June 30, 2021, 10:04:05 PM
Have you guys watched this?

PLAY-TO-EARN | NFT Gaming in the Philippines

It's a documentary about Filipinos who took up playing Axie Infinity during the lockdown to supplement their income. My favorite part is the old man who plays Axie all day every day while he watches over the store. His wife says "we pray to god they don't take away the Axie" 😭

Its heart-wrenching but the game has really been a godsend to people who really needed it.

Philippines has now a lot of Axie players and this is one of the many successful story of Axie player talked in town. They are probably make a good earning from playing all day. I mean I am an Axie player and you wouldn't consume exactly a whole day to play because in an adventure mode of Axie you can already earn a 100SLP and in the daily quest you can earn a 50SLP which sums up a 150 per day, and if you accumulate it in a month you can make of almost 4500 in a 30 days. It is already a big amount of money in fiat to be hpnest.
That’s why many Filipinos took the risk of investing on Axie, some are selling everything they have just to buy a team hoping that they can get it back in just a month which I can say is really possible. Hoping that there’ll be no exit scam since this is the only way to lose money on AXIES, i’m a player too I’m just afraid on this possibility though I already got back my capital.
An exit scam probably won't happen, but prices can crash once the hype is over and those who invested a lot in the game may end not recovering their investments, although they would still have a team to play the game normally. That is the risk of blockchain games and everyone investing on Axies must be aware about this possibility, especially the ones you mentioned who are selling everything they have to enter the game.
By now the market is working nicely because there are a lot of people joining the game and breeding tons of axies, what boost a lot SLPs transactions' volume. However, high demand doesn't last forever. I'm not being skeptical, just realistic.

Something's wrong with the timing of Wheel of Spin. I received a free spin today but when I opened it I got an error saying it was expired.
Below are the screenshots which shows that the mail received was today and the error that was displayed upon using that free spin.

https://i.imgur.com/MSh868a.png

https://i.imgur.com/x8i1Tb1.png

That error has also happened to me, in fact, when I get those emails I don't open them because the same error appears, I have come to think that maybe they are automatic messages but that there are certain criteria that must be met so that it does not expire. In my account I had some inactivity for 1 week, after there the spins did not occur anymore.

I think that if there are accounts with some inactivity, the spins are not activated, that is the conclusion I reached.
Don't you lose the spins if you don't open the emails? Sometimes I also miss one or another spin due to expired tickets, but that happens to me when there are two not viewed emails from Freebitco.in, so most probably the oldest one won't work. I think we have 48 hours to use the ticket since the time it arrives in our inbox, but just to guarantee I check it every day, so the emails don't get accumulated and I don't lose any chance.
5316  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Winners of the global gaming awards London 2021 on: June 30, 2021, 07:10:11 PM
Wow congratulations to all who made this a reality both to the gamblers and the operators alike. I'm impressed bet365 made it to the top this must have cost a whole lot of effort maintaining a top position for this long it's worth the effort. Congratulations to all who made it this far while we wait patiently for another betting year.

Online gambling is a billion dollar business, so obviously bet365 has put a lot of efforts behind and could have spend lots of money to become the winner this year in London. This business is a niche, but make no mistakes about about there are a lot of competition out there. And to remain on top, you have the funds just to market your website not just in Europe but across the globe. And bet365 did exactly that. So congrats and this news might move some gamblers to their platforms because of the hype.
Yes, I see bet365 everywhere on the internet and I have already answered surveys about them (probably surveys ordered by bet365 itself). They must invest a lot of money in marketing to reach most potential gamblers as possible. That may have helped them to win this award considerably. But frankly, I would like to see more crypto platforms in these competitions.
It would help a lot bitcoin adoption to increase among gamblers who still stick only with fiat currencies.
5317  Economy / Economics / Re: When everybody tell you take take risk with money on: June 30, 2021, 06:31:49 PM
Everyone should take risks with money, otherwise no one is going to take this risk for them and consequently there won't be any access to investment opportunities. The person just needs to be careful with the risks and potential consequences they can lead. As an example I would say to borrow money with high interest should be avoided and in this case the person's life can really become a hell. Another example is gambling when seen as money making method. On the other hand, not all risks will have bad consequences mentioned by OP. For me that is pretty clear since we have many examples of wealthy people who grew their funds (sometimes from zero) through risking money (investing) along their lives and reached to very interesting results.
5318  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It takes years to build a reputation and seconds to break it on: June 30, 2021, 05:53:19 PM
Reputation is nothing when we talk about money , even how long they build the reputation and name but there is an involving High amount means the money will be the main objective and the reputation may seems to be not existing .
You still need reputation to make money. Who is going to hire your services, spend at your business or even work for you if you don't have any reputation or a negative one?
I believe what happens nowadays is that many people get their reputations through dirty ways and since money is the most important thing in modern world, they actually buy their status instead of building it step by step from the bottom. Maybe that is what you mean.
5319  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terms and condition a must read before signing up any online gambling site on: June 30, 2021, 05:15:00 PM
Who's gonna read pages and pages of T&Cs? Nobody.
Then what happens is that companies put some guardrails in place to defend themselves and the players that don't read them, when they get scammed start to blame the platforms.
But players should blame themselves first.
I also don't read everything but at least, using the search function, I make sure that I can do (or can't do) certain things.
The rest is pretty much the same on every platform.
Be smart people.

I admit that I'm one of those who skip the T&Csmost of the time especially if it's too long. However, the company should also consider the convenience of its users without asking or demanding for personal information just to pass the KYC. They should also try to keep their users. That's actually the reason why I always check for the legitimacy of every site that I'm using.
yeah , most of gamblors ignore pages of T&Cs , in my opinion bettors should avoid sites that have unclear terms or law for kyc i think some if not most they dont accept id card even , they sayed photo large or language must be in english , lot of fake and bad arguments , all of this for scamming people under the name of kyc the new scam that appeared recently by sites gambling is the fake of law kyc, i hope the will be solved in the future because lot of bettors lost their money because of kyc the crypto does not need kyc but the speed and ease in exchanging money yes
That is true almost nobody reads terms and conditions. In this case it's important to at least verify on google reviews about the casino you are going into. There are several sites which offer customers' reviews about every online gambling platforms nowadays. They aren't too extense like terms and conditions and still present a lot of useful informations which will be enough for you to decide if that is a good idea to play at that particular casino or not.
There are also comments' sections on these sites with more opinions from users and there are forums like bitcointalk which are very useful in this sense as well.

* Just avoid youtuber streamers opinions Grin
5320  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: June 30, 2021, 12:48:44 AM
The problem is that any medicine, if certain factors coincide, can be fatal. Even the most simple and seemingly harmless. BUT - not to use the medicine - the path is even more sad. Here, unfortunately, such is the variability - either possible negative exceptions, or there will be guaranteed negative cases. What is happening now looks like a similar situation: there is a shallow river with a huge number of hungry and aggressive crocodiles. A bridge was made across it. And they say to those who want to cross this river - the probability that you will not fall off the bridge is 99%. And some people say - "only 99%? It's very risky, I'll go right across the river" Smiley
They say the probability you will not fall off the bridge is 99%, but in fact it's much less. So I prefer to not cross the bridge until a stone or steel one is built instead. The river crossing can wait. Cheesy
The same way a solid bridge takes a longer time to be built, an efficient vaccine also takes several years to be achieved. So I will just wait patiently and keep considering covid the same threat it was when everything started between the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020. Maybe in 2 or 3 years a real vaccine appears, although it may take even longer.
