5301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: artforz and coblee gpu mining litecoin since the start? on: March 10, 2012, 01:09:33 PM
Ah well, sticks and stones may break my bones...

...and the time I tried and failed a 65' vertical drop at Montana Crans, that broke two bone, one of them in 8 places; two cheek bones while totaling a Harley Davidson in Nova Scotia (it's okay, it was a crappy AMF one!); the pre-airbag side impact crash in Bozeman broke a wrist; broke two bones in my foot missing a step and sliding on a dog toy; having 45,000 lbs. of flat steel dropped on the car I was driving pretty well destroyed every bone in my right shoulder; and two cracked ribs avoiding arrest during an interesting protest with Autonomie Operaio by going through a storefront and landing badly...

... but words, dear sweet, sweet, child psy, will never hurt me.

Unless those words are something on the order of "duck, there is a whacking great mallet flying at your head" and I fail to react in time, but I wouldn't blame the words, theirs would be merely an unheeded warning not a causal effect in the conjunction between head and aforementioned flying mallet.

Silly little boy, don't come to a battle of wits so woefully unarmed and ill-prepared. You will only end up embarrassing yourself in front of your betters.

Yet again.

Did I hurt your feelings, liitle man?
I'm flattered with all the time you spend replying to me. It only shows how important I am to your insignificant little self.
If you were as smart as you pretend to look like you would've noticed that I just don't give a rats ass about you or what you think. I just tell you to "Go fuck yourself" and get done with it.
Like now: Go fuck yourself!
5302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Amazing (And True!) Story of Bitcoin by Adrianne Jeffries - Video on: March 10, 2012, 12:35:51 PM
i have to say i see it quite differently.

i think it was a very poor talk.  all she did was give a superficial historical review with a heavy slant towards the negative events over the last year including her own mishap with MyBitcoin.  she showed no understanding of the economics behind why Bitcoin was created or how it fits into the financial crisis of the last 4 years.  she even had the gall to say she understood Bitcoin better than most ppl in a previous video interview with that other supposed financial expert who's name escapes me.  David Birch.

its high time we get someone who is articulate and has a deep understanding of the corrupt financial world into which Bitcoin is trying to insert a viable solution.

if i were to give a talk on Bitcoin i would spend 75% of the talk emphasizing the mess we're in with central banks printing money all over the world in an attempt to stop the debt deleveraging deflationary spiral.  i would throw up pictures of M2 and debt/GDP ratio and how they started their upward parabolic moves in the 1970's when we went off the gold standard.  i would then throw up a graph of the asymptotic Bitcoin issuance curve contrasting their shapes.  i would talk about how gold has always been real money backing fiat paper and how Bitcoin is digital gold.  i would put up a 100 yr graph of the declining value of the USD and overlay that on top of the Dow and debt levels.  i would throw up a non log graph of the last 100 yrs in the Dow and show how we have peaked and are in a frightening massive head and shoulders formation over the last 12 years with a projected line straight down the shoot over the next decade.  i would throw up a graph showing how Obama has doubled the national debt in just 3 yrs.  i would throw up a graph of declining housing prices and how this correlates with decreasing household wealth.  i would go over the 2007-08 crisis and how it began and why.  i would explain how Geithner, Bernanke and Hank Paulson broke the rule of law and bailed out crony banking institutions and AIG.  i would emphasize that not one banker who caused this whole mess has gone to prison.  i would explain that 0.01% of the US population owns a counterfeiting ring that only they can tap into and every USD they print devalues the other 99.99% of the populations's USD's.  i would throw up a graph showing why this very phenomenon has resulted in the tremendous wealth disparity of these ppl to the rest of us.  i would go over the European sovereign debt issue and explain that banks all over the world dumped their bad debts onto gov'ts and are pushing them into default as we speak.

for the rest of the 25% talk i would only insert the basics of Bitcoin into key selected points staying away from the technical side and showing just why Bitcoin would solve a particular problem.

this is just off the top of my head.  sorry for the rant but listening to her made me puke.

Now, if only you came out of the anonimity closet and did it... Roll Eyes
5303  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Brusker aka Secured Shells aka http://www.securedshells.com is a scammer on: March 10, 2012, 11:59:56 AM
Or there are plenty of scammers around, and I know there are, or you are a guy very prone to be scammed...
Or maybe it's the part where you start to be a douche on your dealings with people that makes them scam you even if that wasn't their intention at first.

5309  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What is the Growl thing that gets installed with Bitcoin on Mac? on: March 10, 2012, 01:44:55 AM
Bitcoin doesn't install Growl-- something else must have in the past.

PS: there is an open bug in the 0.6 release that it is not compatible with some versions of Growl; if that isn't resolved Growl notifications might be completely disabled.

Hi Gavin. Thanks for the confirmation.
Ok, something else must have installed Growl before. It's still strange that Growl own notifications only started poping up after he started using Bitcoin. Coincidence, or maybe a new Growl release and it's telling him to update it? Like I said I didn't see the exact message, but it has their website URL in it. Nothing to worry about. Smiley
5310  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / What is the Growl thing that gets installed with Bitcoin on Mac? on: March 10, 2012, 01:22:11 AM
Yeah, the question on the Topic.

I had a friend install Bitcoin-qt on his Macbook and he came to me all freaked out asking what was the Growl thing who was displaying messages to him and that it started to happen after him installing the Bitcoin client and that it was the same type of popup notification as the bitcoin one.

I understand it's a notification software for mac, but do you think it's a good idea to install it without the user consent, especially when it popus random messages(? can't tell exactly the message cause I haven't seen it) telling users to visit their site or something along those lines? At least the Growl.info URL was on those notifications.
5311  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is it so hard to get bitcois ? on: March 10, 2012, 01:10:30 AM
You need to mine or buy coins. you can only get a few cent by using those sites.

Thats what I want jst a few cent to experiment. buying sounds tricky,  just want to play with it first

If you couldn't get a few cents from coinworker you better give dude!
I have a friend that got more than 4 BTC from there in a couple days, just from working in his spare time.

every time I cilck on tasks it says nothing available  Huh

Yeah. They're low on tasks now. I guess the site is getting more and more traction, so the available tasks don't last for long. But I know for a fact that at least the flagging pictures task is always being refilled.
Keep trying Wink

Internet -> Firewall -> Tor Gateway -> Web Server

That is actually true. I got a bit carried away there and didn't think it through fully, but the OP's layout would still allow the remote IP to be discovered.

What got us carried away was the fact that, like I said, the OP asked for opinions when all he wanted was a patt on the back while saying "Good job, fellow...".

5318  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Rate my Tor Hidden Service on: March 09, 2012, 10:29:21 PM

Okay genius, explain how they are going to get my or others IP address when everyone is using Tor. Also, the server will be in a far off physical location, not at my house.

Step 1. Find vulnerability in VBulletin or server.
Step 2. Get root on server.
Step 3. Type "ping" followed by an IP address of a computer they control
Step 4. Check firewall log on controlled PC and recover IP
Step 5. ??
Step 6. Profit

or

Step 1. Find vulnerability in VBulletin
Step 2. Use vulnerability to get vbulletin to request a page from a script hosted on a webserver controlled by hacker
Step 3. Check server log on webserver and recover IP, or even have the script record the IP address
Step 4. ??
Step 5. Profit

Also, I hired a hacker who hired a hacker who says your hired hacker is talking shit.

Okay so you seem to think that for some reason, just hacking a simple message board and getting to the root will allow people to circumvent TOR....?

One more time: HOW WILL YOU MAKE SURE THAT ALL AND ANY OUTGOING CONNECTION FROM YOUR SERVER WILL GET ROUTED TROUGH TOR?

Answer that. I said I will be grateful...
You seem to forget that Tor traffic still uses the normal internet... Or your version of Tor is a completely different network that bypasses the internet?

BTW, you are also forgetting about
hostname -i
and
/etc/hosts

or whatever are the OpenBSD equivalents for them.
both will give you your IP, which is needed for the server to work.
Of course you could use a VPS inside a dedicated server, and if you did it, it would probably show the local IP, but that wasn't what you described, you moron...

FFS, such a n00b you are...

It's not about her responding to me, it's about real world proof that I know exactly who and where CH exist. CH knows that creating real world hurt in his life is a real possibility now. I've often wondered what a couple of thousand BTC could accomplish real world.

Didn't you have cancer a few years ago?

WTF?

He meant: Aren't you a cancer since a few years ago?
5320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: i thought transaction fees are optional? on: March 09, 2012, 10:26:29 PM
So let's go back to the very first part of this thread -- the title:
"i thought transaction fees are optional?"

The correct response is:
  "You thought wrong, sorry."

Maybe it's time to change the wording on the wiki, etc.?
