5361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does such a coin exist ? (anti- pump and dump) on: September 25, 2017, 07:42:01 AM
I think I read something about Estonia thinking about creating a national cryptocurrency. I suppose if this sort of thing does develop, it will help against p+d.
Another thing is that coins at the moment are all young and price is based on speculation. Once coins start to get embedded in real life and have not just potential use cases but genuine real world uses happening everyday, this will give people another reason to hold the coin, which should mean more stability.
5362  Other / Meta / Re: how does my post count as activity on: September 25, 2017, 07:28:47 AM
Here you go, full explanation here.
The maximum it can increase is 14 points each fortnight. Looks like you've hit the 3x14=42 threshold (as have I).

5363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining on Mobile Phone on: September 22, 2017, 12:04:39 PM
Would you be interested in a cryptocurrency with its own blockchain that can easily be mined on both android and iOS phones?

It sounds like a recipe for people destroying their own phones, and I don't see how it would work. Unless you could implement some way of it being restricted to just mobile phones, because if a normal mining rig got in it would render the phone useless.
5364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: why not everybody sell their bitcoin and buy etherium instead on: September 22, 2017, 11:48:33 AM
Etherium is a better coin since it also has the smart contract feature. There is nothing that you can do with bitcoin but you cant with etherium. So why not all people sell their bitcoin and buy etherium.

Ethereum is a different thing. It offers a lot that bitcoin doesn't offer, but it won't replace bitcoin, it will expand in a different direction. Bitcoin is effectively digital gold, a store of value, and the gateway between alt coins and fiat. Bitcoin is not going away!
5365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How hard is it to make money of altcoins? on: September 22, 2017, 08:42:35 AM
Different people have different strategies. A lot of people say the best time for trading alts is when bitcoin is stable, as this is often when alts get pumped because people can't make money on bitcoin movement. But you need to know where you are going to get out, don't get too greedy or else you can easily end up losing. I think it is generally best to sell whilst the coin is still going up, so long as you made a profit.
5366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether: not even a scam on: September 22, 2017, 08:25:27 AM
The thread title was correct. Tether is clearly not a scam. Okay so they have had some trouble maintaining the peg to the dollar, but this just means that it is not perfect. There is an obvious need for a cryptocoin that is pegged to fiat, and if tether disappeared something else would just replace it.
5367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Overseas Exchanges! on: September 22, 2017, 08:03:12 AM
Cryptopia is based in new zealand and new zealand is one of the most developed countries in the World. I have had no problem with cryptopia so far.

Yes, I like cryptopia as well. I don't think it really matters so much where the exchanges are, so long as they are spread around the world and not all in one jurisdiction. The main thing is ensuring that governments can't work together to shut all of them Wink
5368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Creating Alt-coin on: September 22, 2017, 07:51:16 AM
I don't see the point of this either. Can't you just create a coin in under a minute on Waves with a few clicks? But then if the coin has no identity of its own and no roadmap and nothing to make it stand out, there is no point to creating it. And I don't think students new to cryptocurrency need to know how to create coins, it's not a vital part for most people.
5369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Useless Alt-Coins that will be dead in 6 months to 1 year on: September 22, 2017, 07:39:58 AM
Most of the smallest coins fall into this category. Of the bigger coins, I think that bitcoin cash will disappear  because I think it is supported only by speculation and nothing else. Also maybe Sia because I think the devs said they wanted the price to stay low - I can't prove this or link to anything though, I just vaguely remember something being said.
5370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum is long term investment on: September 22, 2017, 07:23:20 AM
Ethereum is better for long term invest?
Please share your valuable opinion.

Any coin that is good with a professional approach and a clear use case is a great long term investment.
The best for trading are small coins if you can get in at the start of a pump and out before the dump.
5371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What was the first Altcoin? on: September 21, 2017, 12:08:44 PM
Ripple I think is 2012, so you're right that Namecoin would be before that. My mistake. Although I wasn't around in cryptocoins at the time.
Presumably there aren't many of those old alt coins that have survived this long. Obviously Litecoin and Ripple, but maybe not so many others.
5372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: NEO's 1st ICO red pulse is back on. on: September 21, 2017, 11:55:30 AM
It's interesting how this might mark the emergence of Hong Kong as the focus for Chinese ICOs. The one place in China that is allowed to break the rules Smiley
5373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I made $3.2M in Cryprto since 2010. Here are my top picks for coins under $1. on: September 21, 2017, 11:42:05 AM
I also think that Aventus will be a good one, it has a really well-defined and large target market, and I think they will be number 1 in this space.
And agree that Sia is no good. The project may do something, but I can't see the coin ever being worth much.
5374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: NEO's 1st ICO red pulse is back on. on: September 21, 2017, 07:48:35 AM
I'm glad that Red Pulse is back on, and this does look good for NEO and the price should rise as a response.
It is also very good news for cryptocoins as a whole that all of the stuff from China hasn't stopped every ICO.
5375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why dent token keep on falling?? on: September 21, 2017, 07:33:58 AM
It is very early on in the project and so we cannot expect a rise yet until they start to deliver. The price always drops after ICO as people immediately dump for profit - these people have no interest in the project, it is just a form of trading. Also those who got tokens in bounty campaigns may also dump. I would just hold and have patience, keep up with the project developments and ignore current price.
5376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What was the first Altcoin? on: September 21, 2017, 07:18:15 AM
Ripple has also been around for a long time as far as I can see.
What is interesting though is that many of the early coins either haven't delivered or have disappeared entirely, something to bear in mind when looking at alts nowadays. Some projects will succeed, but a lot, probably the majority, won't.
5377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: is it good time to invest on Sia coin( SC) on: September 21, 2017, 07:06:54 AM
I don't think it's a good idea to invest in Sia. The price has fallen a long way, and I think that Sia are unconcerned because they don't want it to have a high price.
5378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vitalik Buterin networth $100 Million? on: September 20, 2017, 01:36:45 PM
His current net worth is not that relevant, as anyone who has a lot of ETH can expect the dollar value of their holdings to increase substantially. We are still in the early days of cryptoworld, particularly the altcoins.
5379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So low market cap is better for investment? on: September 20, 2017, 01:21:33 PM
Low market cap just means more risk. Yes it can be more gains, but also a big chance of falling to zero.
Look at the high-cap alts, these already have a big price so maybe won't increase 100x, but are also unlikely to fade to nothing. Then look at bitcoin. Even 10x with bitcoin is not likely in short or medium term, but this is offset by the fact that it is the most reliable coin and least likely to collapse. If it collapsed it would take all cryptocoins with it.
5380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I made $3.2M in Cryprto since 2010. Here are my top picks for coins under $1. on: September 20, 2017, 09:38:12 AM
This thread is a great way to prove your credentials in advance of next year's ICO... putting a lot on the line with some big predictions. Hopefully they won't come back to haunt you.
It does sound like you really know what you're talking about (from my perspective of more limited experience).
Very brave of you, and time will tell!
