To be pedantically correct, sugar hadn't been refined back then in the form we know it now, so they used honey as sweetener.

Perhaps you might have been a little rough on the extenders, and some of the wires have micro fractures or broke? That happened to me, and I had to solder them together and replace the ones that were ruined.

They are really fragile little things.

EDIT: I didn't even really look at the page content but now that I did it appears to be about wine, not sugar. Shitty site.
5364  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Digg/Reddit like News site. Voting is based on Bitcoins! on: January 24, 2012, 04:15:16 PM
I can't stand all this liking and tweeting bullshit. Everyone knows that the internets feed on hate. Research shows that common hates produce stronger social bonds than common likes. But where is hate monetized on the internets. Like if I suggest something and gamble that everyone will think it is worth hating on. If they hate on it in sufficient number I get paid. If not I lose my deposit. Then a great repository of hate can be built. Sort of like the library of Alexandria.

If trolling could be monetized that would be good too.
Hm. How about a site that allows you to pay to drive the item DOWN instead of up? Then you can monetize in both directions! Grin

Where do you ship from? I ordered a few weeks ago, but haven't seen anything as of yet. Not sure how long it is supposed to take.
Got my pepper powder, seeds, and sauce! Haven't had the nerve to try it yet....

I gave the powder to a Mexican friend - he took a pinch and put it on his tongue  Shocked He said it had really good flavor though! Grin

I pay .0202 cents a watt
You don't pay "per watt", you pay per watt-hour or to be precise, per kilowatt-hour (1000 watts per hour is $0.0202). Further, there are likely taxes and generation fees on top of that. That is a good rate however.
5367  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin BIP 16 /P2SH/ is bad, your action is needed! on: January 24, 2012, 04:54:24 AM
I believe that OP_CODEHASHCHECK is a dead end.
Could you explain why you think it's a dead end?  BIP17 seems cleaner to me, but with an upgrade related security issue.  While BIP16 seems like a hack (and I don't like OP_EVAL if only for the fact that it makes static analysis more difficult and it doesn't really add much capability aside from running some code in a slightly different context (outside of the scriptSig execution context)).  There also seems to be a strong urge to not allow the full use of scripting facilities in scriptSig, which I can only attribute to a "cargo cult" that has formed based on past issues.  Both BIPs seem to be contortions that try to do things in a backward compatible way…and actually, I think "backward compatible" is the wrong way to look at it.  They aren't backward compatible at all…it's just that they are designed to exploit some permissiveness in the validation rules of old clients…but the old clients aren't actually doing what they need to do with respect to validating these new kinds of transactions.  I have a strong feeling that this is wrong headed.  It would be better for the old clients to reject these new transactions and for miners to upgrade and once there is general agreement that 70 or 80% of the mining power is ready to accept the new transactions, then set a date a month or two out when miners will start allowing them.  Any stragglers (miners or clients) will quickly switch over when they realize they are at risk of having un-marketable coins.
I think that what it achieves is only a short-term solution, and will quickly need to be supplemented to be worth using in the long term - whereas /P2SH/ looks to me like a more complete option.

However, please do note that this isn't the kind of thing I mull over daily, and after such a cursory overview that is what jumped out at me. So take it for what it is worth.

The P6T7 WS is a damned good board, no one wants it?

Hmmm. I decided to try the purchase side again, and my deposit was sent 3 confirms ago, but no activity yet. Are you requiring 6 confirmations now?
EDIT: It started now.

We are going to finish up this last bit of purchases and then suspend them overnight while we finish up this next update.  We will resume purchasing in the morning.
Fair enough! I am pouring 63Ghash onto EMC just for fun - only 2 reject out of 10,000 shares in under half an hour. woot.

Damn right! I love watching the money counters tick ever upward! Grin
5372  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin BIP 16 /P2SH/ is bad, your action is needed! on: January 24, 2012, 04:02:11 AM
This pissing contest made me curious enough to try an understand the various code snippets and documentation (or lack thereof) of each proposal, something I have never been goaded into previously.

I believe that OP_CODEHASHCHECK is a dead end. Further, I believe that while OP_EVAL could be nice to have, /P2SH/ addresses concerns with it, and remains useful for the majority of users, if implemented properly.

I therefore cast my vote for /P2SH/.

Any idea when we will be able to cash out? It is worrisome (to me, anyway) leaving BTC profits on website for extended periods of time.

Cheers for all of your hard work Smiley

freshzive, your btc could not be in better hands.

Arrrr, day be locked in me chest.
Going to offer payout in gold doubloons? Grin
5374  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Digg/Reddit like clone where voting is based on bitcoins on: January 24, 2012, 01:07:10 AM
One smaller problem, the link "Vote up links, images, and articles with bitcoins." goes to bitcoins.org, should be bitcoin.org.

Sweet service! I see potential here.

I'm guessing it will be similar to how it works now where anyone can create something, however on top of that they will have optional verification, and it is upon the buyers to insist that sellers be verified.

Wait what? I am confus. Is this for real?
5379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bit-Pay for Mining? on: January 23, 2012, 08:56:28 PM
What I want is a bot to monitor the market, and determine the best time to sell my mining profits.

If you can do that successfully, forget mining, just buy and sell. Might as well forget Bitcoin while you are at it, I'm sure there are other, easier to time markets. I mean, if your goal is simply fiat gains.  Grin
I only want this until my rigs are paid off, then I will HOARD HOARD HOARD HOARD until $30 again Grin
5380  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica model is flawed on: January 23, 2012, 08:55:11 PM
So, dump $2 million on the market after creating several Bitcoinica accounts - some long, some short, and watch how it reacts. I'd be interested on the outcome, especially since the price would jump up and I would be rich! Grin
