I enjoyed a lot the game of Argentina yesterday night.They clearly played much better than Netherlands but they got self complacent when they were leading 0-2 so they got hit 1-2,then they thought to keep the result but unfortunately this was not possible because they were equalized in the 101 minute of the game.When they got 2-2 I thought things will go bad for them as Netherlands should be really high on motivation and enthusiasm because they got from 0-2 to 2-2 in a short time.Their error was that they wanted to go to penalties while their goalkeeper had only saved one from all the penalties against him.

Well, Brazil just ended up tripping and is out of the cup. This is good news for the Portuguese team who will not jave to go through Brazil if they win against Morocco, which I firmly believe so.
Argentina was another let's say some sort of surprise not because they were equalized in the 100th minute of the game by Netherlands but because they were winning comfortably 0-2 and they completely lost focus and just wanted to pass time to win the game.That is something you cannot do against a team like the Netherlands which was cynical to say the least as they scored two goals in 15 minutes by the same man,a hit substitution by Van Gal,he came from the bench to score two goals in just 20 minutes that he played.Let's see how it goes but most probably it won't go well for Argentina after this. |

I thought Spain to have been the biggest surprise of the World Cup only to find out now that Brazil lost to penalties and that was an amazing Croatia who scored all four penalties while Brazilian lost two something completely unexpected from them.They had attacked much better in the stats compared to Croatia but they didn't score and that was their mistake,Croatia wanted to go to penalties and they got what they wanted,however things will be difficult for them if they face Argentina which is winning now,Argentina is playing better than Brazil in this game against Netherlands.

Mercedes showed signs of improvement all season, they started barely top 10 at first, then they became arguably third, then they became clearly third best, then they even fought for second best, and maybe on the last two races competed against the very best as well. That type of improvement over course of one season, and then moving to next season where there aren't much regulation changes, means that they are going to start at the top for sure.
The real big shuffle will happen in 2026 when cars are basically new, but until then, Mercedes still has one of the best turbo engines ever, and that should give them a good chance to be at the top for sure.
Mercedes got a good improvement after the (never happened before) change of regulation in this summer. They increased the height of all the car to reduce the purposing effect, the team with the biggest advantage was the Mercedes and the team with the biggest lost was Ferrari according to the simulations done at the time. That is why I never agree with changing regulations in the middle of a season,you intentionally or unintentionally favor or disfavor a team and the team who you favor will have nothing to say but the one which loses will have a lot to say about the decisions of the FIA and I would agree that Ferrari lost a lot after such changes.They almost lost the battle against Mercedes as a team and they were lucky to have a great final race that made them win the second place both in drivers and constructors Championship. |
