5361  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need help! My BTC-E Account was Hacked tonight! Be careful! on: April 11, 2013, 07:31:08 AM
BTC-E told a couple people it was an error on their side and they are fixing it. We shall see.
"An error has caused us to accidentally withdraw coins from our users"

versus

"We accidentally ran the 'steal funds and blame it on a hack' script too many times"

Deal with BTC-e at your own risk, with what has happened after the NovaCoin scam.
5362  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox how can you call success what just happened with your crappy engine? on: April 11, 2013, 07:29:40 AM
Bitching on the forum is not going to help you. If you are unhappy with Mt Gox, do not use Mt Gox. End of story.
5363  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Play by Play: Get GOX'd, Lose it all, come back IN the money... on: April 11, 2013, 07:28:47 AM
15:21:06   BTC sold: [tid:1365621666827731] 10.95720000 BTC at $106.00000   0.00004330 BTC
CASH Balance: $1,155.07 OUCH! That's like HALF of what I started with...ugh.  Cry

limit orders are your friend. the ddos lag kicks in, it strikes me, the majority of participants hit the market sell and by the time the order enters the book, gets crossed, and you get filled the price could be ANYWHERE given the staggering amount of these market sell orders, the buy side gets flooded.

At least with a limit sell order you won't get sold any lower than that value you offer your coins at...

Ummm... so how do you do a Limit Sell Order on MtGOX?Huh
Enter a price there?

If a price you want to buy/sell at can't be matched in the orderbook, then it will be on the orderbook and form walls.
5364  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Double-spending alerts implemented? = "instant" transactions supported? on: April 11, 2013, 07:16:47 AM
Learn more about bitcoin first.

Miners can include any transaction they wish, including one that was never broadcasted to the network. Doesn't matter what sort of crap you do, if I mine I block I can double spend 0conf TXes no matter what, if I mine two blocks in a row I can doublespend 0-1conf TXes no matter what, if I mine 3 blocks in a row I can doublespend 0-2conf TXes no matter what.

Serious merchants will NEVER accept 0 confirm transactions.

Link to the Bitfunder Asset list for BAKEWELL, strange its 21 shares short (5979 of 6000) and it shows that there was 6000 when he last paid a dividend.

Its a google docs spreadsheet and has % thrown in.

We need Mr./Mrs. 1123/966/730 shares to speak up that's 47% in those 3 people.

Maybe he bought some back for a friend?

I'd say unclaimed GLBSE shares might have being removed?

5371  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN Mt.Gox] Hi everyone, just a quick update on the situation and what happened on: April 11, 2013, 05:01:42 AM
Wait, so are you or are you not being DDoS'd?
I think are but the lag wasn't due to the DDoS.

5374  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk running slow/crashing (split from What happened to bitcointalk.org today?) on: April 11, 2013, 02:18:19 AM
Thanks theymos! Bitcoin is on the front page of reddit along with various other sites, probably legitimate traffic.

Regarding searching, maybe you could point people to "site:bitcointalk.org search terms" on Google when they are being throttled?
5375  Other / Meta / Re: Forum record broken April 3 2013 on: April 11, 2013, 02:04:34 AM
Never knew you could see what page someone is browsing from that page!

Seems like the forum is a lot faster after removing that feature.
5376  Economy / Service Announcements / [ANN] Earn interest on your bitcoins! CoinLenders pays out interest on deposits. on: April 11, 2013, 02:00:52 AM
CoinLenders currently pays 0.51% / week compound interest (paid daily, prorated) - that's more than 30% APR on personally insured deposits. Although in case of a massive default I will make every attempt to pay everyone back including from my personal assets, it is not a FDIC insured bank and don't put more coins than you're willing to lose there.

Your coins would be used for funding low risk loans (aka not the typical btcjam crap), and other bitcoin denominated investments.

For more info, see this page!
5377  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 11, 2013, 01:54:04 AM
It implies that mining bitcoins with namecoins can give 13% more earnings. I wonder if thats true but if yes, then it would be a not small loss. Too bad that its not possible with stratum.

Merged mining NMC would provide 5.5% additional profit according to http://dustcoin.com/mining

I believe the person that wrote the 13% did it a week ago and the bitcoin price skyrocketed a lot in the last time. So i believe it could be that at that time the earnings were so high.
But it looks like it could be even now around 9% more than we earn because there are different other Coins that could be merged mined. Calculated in Bitcoins. Only when we would merge mine. That is mining bitcoins and at the same time, without changing anything than the numbers based for calculation of the hash, we could mine other coins too. We would still earn the same Bitcoins but other coins on top. These coins could be turned into bitcoins and paid out as dividend too.
And like i read... stratum can handle this.

...
The blatantly obvious point to note is that if asicminer was mining THAT MANY nmc and selling them, the NMC -> BTC price would of course drop drastically ...

It's like saying, wow difficulty is 7672999.920164138 - if I mined with (added) 200TH/s I'd get ... 12977.38710926 BTC a day! Cheesy
( I'll leave it to you to work out the mistake with saying that Smiley )

Thats a point... i didnt think about that the NMC could be so weak. Otherwise... who says that the price has to drop... you could put the NMC in the orderbook and wait until its sold out instead selling all at once and put the price down. Im not sure if it would work out... but i know when i have my avalon i wont miss this chance to earn some extra income... 7TH into NMC-Network will be a lot of course, thats true.
A large askwall would prevent the price from going up, and therefore drop the price as people realize it's not going to increase.

5379  Economy / Lending / Re: CoinLenders :: Get bitcoin loans, and earn interest on your deposits! (new) on: April 11, 2013, 01:46:28 AM
Update: We now also pay interest on deposits! Borrowers can take advantage of this if they wish to repay early.
