5361  Other / Meta / Re: Does anyone here make a living off the forums? on: April 02, 2019, 05:24:21 PM
- For money, such as joining campaign, managing campaigns, doing Escrow services, making graphic designs
When I think of people making a living off bitcointalk, usually what comes immediately to mind is signature campaigns.  The other things in that list are kind of specialty work which isn't as common as simply putting advertising in your signature space, which most members here do.

As for myself, no I don't earn my living on this forum.  I just discovered early on that it would be leaving money on the table if I were to be an active poster on a forum that I liked and not join a campaign.  Not only does it provide some extra spending money (which isn't peanuts, by the way), it gives me some bitcoin to play around with.  It's much easier to try my hand at altcoin trading with what I earn from campaigns than to use the cash I have from my real job--I don't even have a way to buy bitcoin with cash unless I do it here with PayPal, and that's often problematic.

OP, I've always had the impression that a lot of people use this forum as their place of work, but I'm betting that most of them won't bother to stop by this thread and tell you about it, likely because they're so busy shitposting in one of the mega spam sections and won't notice a thread like this in Meta.  But I've come across lots of members who are probably relying on the money they earn here to support themselves.  I can't tell you how many PMs I've gotten from people I've negged, telling me how badly they need their account to live, etc., etc.  I don't know if they don't have enough education or skills to hold a real job or what, but I'd say at least half of the bounty-hunting population is doing it as full-time employment.
Agree with you completely as I have a similar story to yours. I had been working on signature campaigns from a long time and I must say that the money I get from it does complement the savings I make from my real job.
To be honest, the money did attract me in the beginning days and but as time passed by and I gained experience on this forum and now I kind of love the forum for whatever it is. It's really a big platform through which anybody can learn so much out of it. These days I concentrate less on the amount of posts and more on the quality of posts because that is what will benefit the forum and it's the only way I can think of right now to make my contribution towards the forum. I would definitely like to contribute more towards the forum but I don't know how should I do that.

Also I have a question:

But I've come across lots of members who are probably relying on the money they earn here to support themselves.  I can't tell you how many PMs I've gotten from people I've negged, telling me how badly they need their account to live, etc., etc.
What do you feel when these people tell you how important their account is for them ? Doesn't it makes you feel pity or something on them ?
5362  Economy / Speculation / Whats with the sudden surge ? on: April 02, 2019, 05:07:56 AM
Alright, so I just checked bitcoin's price a few minutes back and it was around $4150 and then a few minutes later I get a notification saying bitcoin's price is now $4250.
I was like okay  Smiley good to see bitcoin rise but then a few more minutes later I get a notification again sayin bitcoin' price is now $4550 and I was like WTF Huh
What's with the sudden surge in price ? Looked for info on cointelegraph but I guess they are trying to find the reason for the same or may be they are late in publishing the article this time.
Anyway, good to see it rise but curious to know the reason why. Will update the post if I find the reason behind it.

Edit 1: Current price $4800+ . According to my experience with BTC I think it's a pump and dump because such surge without reason usually indicates a pump and dump.
5363  Other / Meta / Re: Real selfies in the KYC thread. on: April 01, 2019, 05:37:03 PM
If people aren't able to perceive that they're posting the image publicly (after they uploaded it to imgur or something, as well), then they're really beyond help...

If someone posts their ID with their selfie, please report it. Otherwise it's not a big deal.
Besides that, if anybody is posting their real picture at all then they must be either real dumb or too careless which in both cases should not bother us much.

What are you all talking about?
I thought this was real KYC  Angry
Oh common, we are over it now. Stop joking already.

5365  Other / Meta / Re: [SUCH GUIDE] Guaranteed method to earn many merits, statistically proven on: April 01, 2019, 03:59:34 PM
I am a new member on bitcointalk and I think the code, size and color of the forum are good.
It is my first account here. Meta thread has many good users.I like the merit system and signature and bounty campaign. Many times I received full  btc payment. People want more coin in their crypto wallet so they make more post.  I get time I use bitcoin on blockchain network. I work using miner and I know mining of block.  Now my friend Yang see me and even he need bitcoin and so I told him to create btc address and create account on bitcointalk.

Add my profile url link in your trust list.

I was amazed to find this hack and I guess I am too lucky to find it on today's date. Nobody can stop me now from being a Legendary.

The hack is to send 1 merit to Satoshi's profile and receive 100 free merits instantly or free.
Link to Satoshi's profile: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3

Haters might say that I have edited the element's text using 'Inspect element' and then took a screenshot of it but hey I am a noob.

I think theymos can undo this merit transactions very easily and he has done so before.

No need to worry just enjoy the day!

Happy April Fools day Wink
Well in that case, merit this post a few merits. You will be lucky if Theymos undo all the merits for today.  Grin
Just Kidding mate! Couldn't resist from making this shitpost.
5368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Amazing News , Wu 's New Coin OverMind has arrived , all bow before it. on: April 01, 2019, 08:53:00 AM

On top of that, no one can mine this coin because it only mineable with Wu specially buidl miner, also it don't come cheap. Prepare your wallet.
The specially build miner is called 'Wu Miner' and can be brought only using 'OverMind' coin. The price of Wu Miner is 10 OverMind coins and we can also get special discount if the reference is from Jihan Wu himself. The Wu Miner has been incorporated with Jihan Wu's mind using artificial intelligence and can mine blocks rapidly.

I wish I could get the tshirt. Damn it's so cool. Wish somebody could gift it to me. Anyway, expecting the pencil soon.

P.S: Anybody wanna hire me for smoking weed in return for a few hundred merits ? LOL, that would be awesome.
5370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mass Sensitization is Still Key to Adoption on: April 01, 2019, 06:10:56 AM
I don't think the mass majority will ever understand how it works. The mass majority of people don't want to know how things work they just want to use them.
I kind of agree with this because I think that even if the people get to understand what bitcoin is and how to use it, many of them will fall for greed and trade in the volatile market instead of using it for general purpose. Actually it's already happening now since most of the people here are just for the money. I have hardly seen few people who believe in bitcoin.

Secondly, most of the people in the world are still unaware of bitcoin because of their illiteracy. There are many who still don't know to operate a computer and so it's hard to expect that wide adoption will take place any time soon.
5371  Other / Meta / Re: KYC now required on: April 01, 2019, 05:43:32 AM
Lol, I am pretty sure it's a April fool's thing that Theymos does every year. In fact I was waiting what would it be this year.
Cool verification tag on the profile by the way Grin

5372  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why do youtube "Expert Traders" keep asking money for their "premium tips"? on: March 29, 2019, 03:15:26 AM
I have been trying to watch some YouTube videos about crypto trading and also tried to read some articles to understand the different indicators but one thing that baffles me is that most of them claim to have made lots of money from day trading, and yet they continue asking people to subscribe for their Premium content for $100,$150 etc

If they claim to have made lots of money through their good trading strategies then why do they ask for money? Is it too much greed for more money, or they are simply lying about making money from their strategies?
Never believe anybody because most of them are lying and your point is absolutely right 'Why would they ask for money for premium content if they had gained so much money from their so called 'working strategy'.
I had been a part of an project but later I had abandoned it for some reasons. We tried to promote the project on youtube contacting crypto youtubers to promote it but most of the youtbers (around 95%) asked for money upfront. I got to know that day that all those shillers who claim they are big crypto enthusiasts are there just for money. All those people who provide crypto signals are probably making random predictions and will charge you for it. It's better that you learn from scratch by yourselves instead of believing some random person. It's a world filled with cheaters and scammers.
5373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't fall for the pump, Bitcoin won't stay pass 4k nor does it deserve to. on: March 29, 2019, 03:00:48 AM
From all the major flaws presented in Bitcoin one could say PoW is the major flaw of them all making the coin more centralized than even most people can't afford to keep up with other miners, these are day traders doing there thing again making profits on your losses, beware most say it's like gold it doesn't need to be fast but in reality it just isn't so secure.
Oh right! These are the days when FUDsters like you wake up all of a sudden and start spreading FUD about bitcoin. But hey, don't you think you should have been more creative if you thought that people should believe you.
Common man, you gotta put some effort if you want people to even read your whole post. I bet many people like me would not have even read the whole post since we know what shit you are gonna post anyway.
We all have been through this and I am quite sure that you will soon stop shilling and we be grinning when bitcoin goes ATH. I must say, you must be having a ninja technique or something to wake up when bitcoin finds a new bottom.
5374  Other / Meta / Re: What can I do about possible merit abuse? on: March 28, 2019, 04:52:58 PM
All the above replies are salutary and you have the choice to implement whatever you want. I also have an idea which could result in less merit abuse.
How about creating a list of people who are possible merit abusers ? Like how you think that some people are abusing merit, just adding them up to the list will do the job.
Few people like the Pharmacist, Lauda and few more who are too good in investigating accounts can find out if the person is a merit abuser or not.
Or lets say anybody who identifies and proves that the person is abusing merit will be rewarded with merits. If the person will actually be abusing the merit then it's his 'Endgame'  Tongue

Just a thought :-)
5375  Other / Meta / Re: Community Opinion - Signature Campaigns on: March 28, 2019, 02:49:35 PM
As most of you probably know by now, I like to listen to the community before I do anything definitive.

I've been approached about a pornsite who may want me to run a Signature Campaign here at Bitcointalk. Now there's nothing illegal with legit porn sites and as far as I know there's nothing against promoting such sites here either but I'd still like to hear what you guys think about it, would people apply? (With good payrates people don't seem to care what they advertise but still). If anything would come up that they've been doing some shennanigans later on, could I get in trouble for marketig it here? Should I consider it in any way immoral to promote pornographic content here?

Feel free to discuss, I'd prefer it to be on topic and without multiple posts about "Your campaign, your decision" etc. One post is enough and different opinions are always welcome.

I have the best example that will make it very easy for you to decide whether to take the campaign or not.
Sunny Leone who has acted in many pornographic films is well respected by many because it was her own decision to act in porn movies.
I respect her too since I believe that there is no work that leads to discrimination. Every job should be respected unless it does not harm anybody in anyway.

So, if the campaign that you are receiving does not harm anybody in anyway then you should probably take it if you are willing to.
There is no harm in accepting a porn campaign.
5376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: VANTA a SCAM? Wasted 6 weeks working for Vanta without payment on: March 28, 2019, 02:07:12 PM
I spent 6 weeks working on a project called VANTA and finally end up without a payment. I started working on VANTA since from the 1st week to the final and yet I got no payment. After we started working for VANTA 3 weeks in, the Bounty manager comes out with a new rule saying, everyone must trade 2308 VNT on Allbit for 10 consecutive days, if not, no payment.

If that rule was there from the beginning many would not join the campaign. The bounty program was originally 4 weeks, the 2 weeks was added later when they implemented the new rule for 10 days trading on Allbit.

It's funny to see how this kind of projects conspire with the bounty managers and work away with our tokens every day.
If that's the case then you must have took part in only those campaigns where the campaign managers were trust worthy. There are many campaign managers I know on this forum who are well trusted and I am sure that they would have not made this situation occur to you or any other participants.

Quote
I was previously scammed in projects such as HDAC, Envion, REGA, GIZER, Confido, EOSex, and now VANTA. I started thinking now is time say enough for that.
Damn, so many scams. You must have been an experienced scam victim now. No Offense. I think you should do your homework of making a thorough research well before participating in the bounty campaign.

Quote
Note: I even traded VNT on Allbit for about 3-4 days and I stopped because I was busy working on other projects as well. By the way, I'm a proud bounty hunter, not a trader and ain't trading for nobody. Trading is different from bounty hunting. For VANTA, if you think stealing our tokens (for not trading 10 days) is good, add them to your supply and try to surpass bitcoin on market cap.

So guys, what is your take on VANTA, A scam or not?
For me, any project that is not legit enough to pay the bounty hunters is not worth investing.
It's definitely a scam and it's good to know that you are opposing it and standing for your rights. Such scam projects should be reported then and there so that others become aware of it and not get scammed.

5377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Second Attempt: Bittrex Announces Its First Initial Exchange Offering on: March 28, 2019, 01:55:00 PM
Agree with you. Bittrex has been bringing changes with so many things on it's exchange. The mandatory KYC is the main reason why many people have shifted to binance and I would agree that binance is still far better than bittrex. Binance has it's own 'Binance Launchpad' which is a token development platform for the IEOs and it's going pretty decently. It has been accepted well by the investors and traders. It's recent IEO Bittorrent was very well received by the traders and investors.Bittrex on the other hand screwed up it's first ever IEO for some reason ( I still don't know why). May be once bittrex does a successful IEO then people may gain trust over it again.
you are absolutely right on everything you said about where bittrex got it wrong except where you said bittrex made kyc mandatory for people likewise on binance if you want to participate in binance IEO launchpad you must pass their kyc.
The mandatory ID verification on the Binance Launchapad is still better because binance is by far the most secure exchange in today's date. Besides that it depends on you whether you want to take part in it's IEO or not.
One thing I would like to point out here is that if you would take part in ICOs and if it was mandatory to give your KYC details then you would had to give your personal details to every ICO you would take part in whereas if you do the ID verification process on binance launchpad once then you would be eligible to take part in every IEO that launches on it's launchpad without any hassle of KYC.
5378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Team also needs to pass KYC on: March 27, 2019, 04:29:35 PM
Investors and bounty hunters are mostly required to undergo KYC while the team behind the project itself are not known. And they scam people. I suggest the team should first pass a "KYC" test and publish it on their website before investors and hunters are also made to do same. What do you also think?
I hardly think that this would be a possible solution because KYC of the investors is done by the project team. So who do you think will be eligible to validate the KYC details of the team?
It can't be the investors since there will be so many investors and it would be hard for everybody to validate the KYC. It can't be a third party since  it can be easily corrupted.
Hence KYC of the team would not be an appropriate thing. It's better if we avoid any such investments where KYC is mandatory.
5379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Second Attempt: Bittrex Announces Its First Initial Exchange Offering on: March 27, 2019, 04:17:24 PM
https://stadivm.com/cc/bittrex-ieo-second-attempt/

"The past few months have seen many positive steps for the cryptocurrency industry in general, such as the further development of the Bitcoin Lightning Network and even a new movie based upon cryptocurrency.

However one development which is been plagued with issues, while simultaneously showing promise, are the introduction of Initial Exchange Offerings, or IEO’s.

Following a controversial first bite at the apple, Bittrex has decided to give Initial Exchange Offerings another try. The announcement came following the cancellation of the RAID IEO a few weeks ago...."

Lol
Let’s call it bittrex second ieo program
The first one was abit messy; but this time around; I can see it thriving already

The first crowdsale done by bittrex as far as I can remember was the Breakout Coin and one that I can think was an adnetwork token too. So far this VeriBlock (VBK)  isn't the second at all.

IEO model will help the trust but only for the exchanges that has proven itself from the past. The newer ones today might struggle and team will still prefer to do an ICO.
Bittrex has been loosing a lot of trust not only from the traders but a lot of its customer has already moved to the binance. I heard that one of bittrex ico was getting failed. IEO will not always get success. that depends on how popular that exchange site.
5380  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Using Crypto at a Non Profit? on: March 27, 2019, 02:28:44 PM
Hey there. I work at a non profit and we help people throughout the world who are discriminated against, oppressed, and even killed for their ideals and beliefs. We have bases throughout the world and we transfer money to each of these bases. However, with governments/private banks being corrupt in these countries, sometimes these transfers are ceased.

We would like to utilize crypto currency to solve our problem. Do you have any ideas on the below question?

1.) What would be the best currency to use for international transfers from the US to places like India, North Korea, the Middle East.

2.) How could the recipients turn their crypto into cash without going through a bank? For example, if we sent 10,000 worth of Rupee to India via crypto, how would the end user convert this into Rupee in their country?

Thanks for any and all help!
The first thing that should be kept in mind is that the recipient country should have crypto legalized or at least regulated because I am from India and crypto is still neither legalized nor regulated in India.
Second thing is that the end user whoever is receiving the crypto should have a crypto wallet and have the basic knowledge on how to use it and make transactions.
In countries like India, it is still tough to encash crypto and I myself use a P2P trading platform called WazirX for getting the amount into my bank account.
So, inorder to encash the crypto the end user must either have good contacts so that he can trade the crypto to them for cash or he must have a P2P trading account like mine.
