Για να ξανά υπάρξει άνοδος στα $1000 θα πρέπει κάποιοι να βάλουν το χέρι αρκετά βαθιά στην τσέπη και αυτή τη φορά τα πράγματα θα είναι πολύ δυσκολότερα, ξεχάστε bot τύπου willy και τους χιλιάδες gpu miners που οι περισσότεροι δεν πουλούσαν "το καιρό εκείνο", τα περισσότερα btc τότε ΔΕΝ ΗΤΑΝ ΚΑΝ ΓΙΑ ΠΟΥΛΗΜΑ!. Είμαι ο μόνος που πιστεύει πως οι σημερινοί asic miners έχουν σταματήσει να πουλάνε btc μόνο ΠΡΟΣΩΡΙΝΑ για να φουσκώσουν την τιμή και να "ξεφορτώσουν" αργότερα σε πιο "προνομιακές" τιμές? ή το βρίσκετε τόσο δύσκολο να συνεννοηθούν 5-6 άτομα μεταξύ τους? ή μήπως νομίζετε ότι οι miners δεν ξέρουν πως να σπρώξουν και να εκμεταλλευτούν την κατάσταση προς όφελός τους?(όσο μπορούν)

Όσον αφορά δε τη "χρησιμότητα" του btc ας γελάσω, όσοι κρατάνε ακόμη btc απο την εποχή του cpu/gpu mining, αυτοί μπορεί να τα ξοδεύουν δεξιά και αριστερά, κοινός θνητός να μετατρέψει fiat σε btc και μετα να κάνει τις αγορές του με btc πρέπει να είναι τελείως ____________ για να κάνει κάτι τέτοιο(Θα ήθελα παραδείγματα που κάποιος έκανε FIAT=>ΒΤC=>Αγορές (αλλά και το λόγο για τον οποίο έκανε κάτι τέτοιο). Μην ξεχνάμε και τους φίλους μας τους κινέζους που βρήκαν ίσως ακόμη ένα μέσο για να φυγαδεύουν χρήματα. Κατα τα άλλα.... κίνδυνος Grexit? ανεβαίνει το btc! Στρώνει η οικονομία? πέφτει το btc! Υποτίμηση στο Yuan? πάνω το btc! κλάνει η Angelina Jollie? πέφτει to btc!

Απλή περιέργεια.... στα 100 άτομα που έχουν αγοράσει btc τους τελευταίους μήνες ή θα αγοράσουν πριν το halving θα ήθελα να ξέρω πόσοι το κάνουν για να τα ξαναπουλήσουν αργότερα όταν θα φτάσει στα 1.000-5.000 Ευρώ(εδώ γελάμε!) και πόσοι αγοράζουν για να κάνουν... τα καθημερινά ψώνια τους!(και εδώ γελάμε!)

Στο coindesk απο τις 10 πρώτες ειδήσεις μόνο οι 3 αφορούν το bitcoin και απο αυτές η μία έχει απλά να κάνει με την τιμή του και άλλη μία σχετίζεται έμμεσα με το bitcoin μιας και απλά αφορά το πρόστιμο στο bitfinex. Οι υπόλοιπες ειδήσεις έχουν να κάνουν με "blockchain" "digital currency" "distributed ledgers" και μια με το ethereum, τώρα αν νομίζετε ότι όσοι αναφέρονται στους παραπάνω ορισμούς έχουν στο νου τους μόνο το btc.... τότε τι να σας πω.... δεν έχω άλλα λόγια. Αλλά για να μη σας απογοητεύσω...

I had described that upthread already, thanks for your out of context link though. The person I was responding to specifically asked what was wrong with just changing the size constant.
I disagree that classic solved the other issues. E.g. Adding an arbitrary limit to an N2 algorithm that can be simply made O(N) is not 'solving it', it's a kludge that bakes additional limitations into the system.
As far as the non-productive, I don't say it lightly-- I think it's an objective fact which is beyond reasonable dispute. Lets look at the evidence.
Here is the development team listed in the release notes for Classic 0.12.1: Gavin Andresen, Jeff Garzik, Pedro Pinheiro, Tom Zander, Jon Rumion.
Gavin Andresen :Zero commits to Classic 0.12.1.
Jeff Garzik: Only commit to classic ever is changing a URL from Bitcoin Core to classic, no commits in 0.12.1
Pedro Pinheiro: No commits to 0.12.1 (only code contribution I see in Classic was a hardfork status RPC command that was broken; later fixed by ftrader)
Jon Rumion: Appears to have no commits to classic ever (it may be that they're using a pseudonym in the commit history, or only doing testing or binary builds and no development in 0.12.1).
Tom Zander: In 0.12.1 tweaked some documentation, removed a correct warning that classic nodes were operating under rules inconsistent with what a majority hashpower was signaling.

These kinds of comparisons are inherently pretty approximate, but the results are clear.
Quite literally, even though Classic 0.12.1 takes almost nothing from Core 0.12.1, the developers of Bitcoin Core managed to develop more of classic 0.12.1 than most of the "classic" team combined. And Classic's major novel contribution in Classic 0.12.1 is a clear anti-feature that hides useful information from the user.
In the last month, across all branches, Classic has merged 1 pull request, and had zero new unmerged proposals. By comparison, Core has merged 87 in the same period and 33 propose. Classic has fallen behind protocol development: failing to merge BIP 68 and CSV friends so far, though Core kindly wrote it for them.
To each their own-- they're not bad people for not getting anything done there. But this idea in /r/btc that classic is a functional competing system, just isn't supported by the data. A lot of allegations are made in /r/btc that Core has bad qualities or is unenjoyable to work with, but the reality is that core is very effective and vigorous, and classic is .. not.
This is precisely the outcome you get when you don't have a large, experienced, vibrant team that cares deeply about Bitcoin and the technology supporting the system. And it is the perfectly predictable outcome when someone tries to stage a political coup to over-ride the technical and fundamental-value based reality; and kick out a large and successful community effort.
Lets stop pretending.

And Franky's "solutions" frequently call for... a centralised dev team that codes Bitcoin into the way he likes (which centralises the network, not the dev team).


It's simple really:

BigBlockers want a centralised network, and decentralised "anyone can commmit" code repos

Core supporters want a decentralised network, and accept that ALL DEVELOPMENT IS CENTRALISED, there is no practical way to decentralise development for a given piece of software without sacrificing the quality/functionality of the software.

The blocksize debate is not a technical issue, it exposed several long existing problem of bitcoin: Mining centralization, development centralization and lack of consensus based decision making mechanism regarding protocol change. And what core programmer is doing is to make these problems worse, their solutions create more and more centralization incentive, especially in R&D. If bitcoin is centralized in the hands of a few guys, government and law enforcement will take down them in a couple of hours, then the whole system will just collapse like e-gold or liberty reserve
