541  Other / Off-topic / Re: Tennis G O A T: Who Will Eventually Be Considered the Greatest of These Three? on: October 11, 2020, 10:39:31 PM
For me this would be Federer, but not because of any numbers. He just is the most talented one to ever walk on a tennis court. Watching him play, it felt so effortless what he was doing and he basically had no weaknesses and could do it all (forehand, one-handed backhand, net play, good/precise serve, effective slice) on any surface. His sheer numbers are surely a bit inflated, because he was in a league of his own until Nadal was more competitive on hard/grass and Djokovic showed up on the Tour - the era when Fed started to peak was rather weak looking back (Roddick, Hewitt, Safin, Nalbandian, Davydenko etc.). But you won't find a player as gifted and elegant on court as him.

Nadal and Djokovic are more the working class, though they have lots of talent of course Wink They are physically stronger, but this is not about talent, it can be learned/trained. I think Djokovic actually has tremendous numbers, because he had to deal with Nadal/Federer throughout his whole career and only in the last 2-3 years those two were fading a bit. But his style of play is not what I consider goat-ish, same goes for Nadal apart from clay.
And personality-wise Federer is above them as well, because he is such a likeable guy, well spoken and always a gentleman. Nadal is a very nice person, but kind of shy of course. Djokovic is just very fake imo and an attention whore.

My personal GOAT is Fernando Gonzalez though Grin

Are you sure about orlando's match being postponed?

Yes, I heard it already yesterday and most bookies don't offer this game anymore and the official site also has it as postponed.

I see 7 people on the leaderboard with 9 correct so far with new york and new england still in progress.
If I were to get the two remaining ones right, then I would have 9 but I don't think it would be enough. Cause all them can't get them all wrong there is no way. Embarrassed

Avirunes has already 10 correct ones, if I made no mistake, which can happen of course Smiley

He needs NYC to win, but they are down 0-1 with ~20min to go. I don't think 10 will be enough, but not sure which games are not yet updated in the leaderboard.
543  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: October 11, 2020, 06:22:49 PM
5 matches still ahead of us and I have 2 draw picks.

The last match on the schedule (Orlando - Columbus) is actually postponed with no new date afaik, so there is only 4 matches left I think. You and ralle14 both have 8 till now, so you are in a good position both. But buwaytress is still in good shape with 7 as well, since he has two upsets picked with New England and Turkey, which not many others at the top might have. So if these two are correct......
544  Economy / Gambling / Re: Exbet | The Bitcoin Betting Exchange [exbet.io] on: October 11, 2020, 06:07:21 PM
It could be anything, maybe free bets for everyone who register on Day 1.  Smiley

This is not your traditional bookmaker and thus it makes no sense to give any free bets or bonuses. Any bonus given will be 100% lost money for Exbet (if we disregard commission) - a traditional bookmaker gets the overwhelming majority of their bonus money back, which makes it worth for them. Exbet doesn't earn anything with punters losing bets (=losing free bets/bonus money), they just live by 1% commission from winning bets.

I just put in a non-dangerous parlay with Rams, Chiefs and 49ers to win ML (...)

I have a feeling the Rams might disappoint you. WAS were poor in their last games after that surprising win in week 1 against the Eagles, but Haskins was benched and Allen will take over, who has done very well in his first games with Carolina. QB change (if not for injury) always gives a little push and motivation to teams. On top of that WAS will have Young back today as it seems and Rams already struggled against a weaker Giants defense last week. Not advising a bet on WAS, but if this parlay fails, it will be due to the Rams laying an egg imo Tongue

I am trying my luck with Houston -6 today. Texans had a bad start, but against good opposition (Ravens, Chiefs, Steelers, Vikings), so being 0-4 looks worse than it actually is. Nevertheless O'Brien had to leave and they can start all over, pretending they are 0-0. Rumours say that he lost the locker room and a new head coach (although only interim) can do wonders in such cases. Jags are and were a bit so and so, but last two games weren't very convincing against CIN/MIA and both resulted in losses. They are just not healthy right now and their struggling defense will be even weaker with Allen out, Henderson most likely out and Jack not at 100%. This is a divisional matchup, so high-ish HC's are always a bit meh, but JAX defense was already shitty before and is now missing very important players on top.

Here are the "standings" thus far:

ralle14, buwaytress and Avirunes with exceptional performance, but don't get too excited, if you see yourself on top of the leaderboard, since I think there are users with 7/7 until now, who don't show up there (if this wasn't changed in the meantime). We hit on all the games, where we found consensus, this is a first iirc. Vasco da Gama did give most of us a good scare, because they scored 2-2 in 86th minute, but the VAR took it away after a long time of waiting, because it was offside by the tip of the toe.

I watched the first half of Atlanta game and they were doing really good. Thought this would be easy home win, but got disappointed when checking the result in the morning. Sao Paulo winning against Palmeiras one could have guessed, since Palmeiras had some players not available, because they are on national duties; among them their most successful striker this season.
547  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Blockchain Gaming Drive Cryptocurrency Adoption? on: October 11, 2020, 10:05:55 AM
Well, things may have changed since then, but:(...)

Yes, can't argue that it helped in the early-ish days (though one could argue, if more transactions means more adoption per se). But nowadays gambling isn't helping a lot with adoption I think. Yes, lots of people are gambling with crypto nowadays, but this scene is kind of a closed circle, i.e. someone who was gambling with fiat in the past is now maybe gambling more with crypto. But outside of this circle it doesn't help with adoption, because people always lose all their crypto while gambling, so it's one way traffic to the operators, who get this "money". The operators probably sell parts of those profits for fiat and who buys it again ? The gamblers Grin

You just don't get new people into crypto because it's now possible to gamble with it. If someone starts gambling now, he does it because of very personal reasons and not because he thinks: "Oh cool, I can gamble with crypto now, which is a great benefit for me." And tbh - at least for betting - the crypto casinos don't offer anything special; most of the time they are worse all in all than the big traditional fiat bookies. With gaming things are or will be different.
548  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: October 10, 2020, 08:57:00 PM
Germany and Spain match just ended with a win that makes it four favorites in a row.

Hehe, it's very rare that I start 4-0 into a MM, the problem is that 95% of all "opponents" started 4-0 as well most likely Cheesy

I am watching that Vasco da Gama match and so far they have been the better team, Flamengo is not doing much considering they are 0-1 down, were pre-match favourites and have been in good form lately. Since none of us picked the draw, I guess it will end just with a draw Tongue JanpriX has the Vasco win as well btw, his picks are missing in my last table screenshot.
549  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Blockchain Gaming Drive Cryptocurrency Adoption? on: October 10, 2020, 06:49:48 PM
Super interesting topic, which interests me a lot, since I am involved a bit in a blockchain gaming project.

I don't think gaming can drive crypto adoption, but it is a realm where blockchain technology makes a lot of sense and thus it will play a good role in cryptoversum in the future. I saw some people comparing gaming with gambling and pointing out how gambling drives crypto adoption a bit - but I am not sold on this. Crypto gambling is still kind of a nerdy niche, although you get a different impression by looking around in the gambling section here in this forum and given how rich all these crypto casinos have gotten in a short period of time. But crypto has no real use case in terms of gambling imo, other than the fact that it's maybe pretty convenient to play more or less anonymous and have fast deposits/withdrawals. But most people lose with gambling (100% who play casino games, 95% who do sportsbetting or play Poker), so I don't really see the benefit.

Now for gaming this is different, because here you have this huge advantage of really owning your assets with blockchain technology implemented (if you take good care of your private keys Grin) and this is a big step forward in comparison to what we have now, where you are always a slave of the game developers playing nice, not shutting the game down or giving rare items to themselves or friends and thereby diluting your assets. It's still not perfect and there has just been an exit scam as well, but it's a step in the right direction to bring gaming and blockchain together. It's still a long way to go, but there are projects, who bring games completely decentralized on the blockchain and this will get huge then. Slowly but surely.
550  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UEFA Nations League 2020/2021 Discussion Thread on: October 10, 2020, 06:25:01 PM
Germany should win this rather easily. Although Löw doesn't care that much about this competition, he is under some (media) pressure, because his team is not delivering. So for today he put some Bayern players back in (Kimmich, Goretzka, Gnabry) and with them Germany is a lot stronger, which is partially just psychological imo. Ukraine has been super poor in their last two games and ze germans didn't win for ages, which is very unusual.

All this being said, I won't bet on Germany, since there is no value in @1.3x and I don't expect some shootout, but think Löw wants to keep a clean sheet this time, something like 0-1/0-2 maybe in the end to silence his critics.
551  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bet Agent on: October 10, 2020, 11:12:20 AM
Do you know anything about them?

No not really Smiley At first glance it looks like just any other (crypto) sportsbook and I guess they will have the same limit policy in the end. Winning bigger amounts is certainly possible and you won't get a limit right away, but after some withdrawals, your account will get checked and probably limited. Unless you are a longterm net loser on their site, then you are allowed to keep going even with big amounts, since you are a profitable customers, albeit some lucky hits here and there.

Problem with these crypto bookies is, that they have no expertise in sportsbetting and do nothing in-house. It's super easy to run a sportsbook nowadays, you just need some staff to monitor things, some IT guys, some support - the rest you can just buy, i.e. everything odds. It's just a money making machine, with the people in charge having no passion for sportsbetting I suppose. Thats why everyone who takes money out of the system is not welcome. Which is understandable to a certain extent, but annoying nonetheless.
552  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bet Agent on: October 10, 2020, 09:27:28 AM
Well I don't see the point of this betting agents in 2020! They are acting just like third party service, that can be reliable or not, but to not get into that much, the main point is that we don't need third party services, crypto is here for that!

Disagree Smiley

1) Many bookmakers have geo-restrictions. I am not allowed to bet with a lot of bookmakers directly and have to go via an agent. Betfair Exchange is not accessible for what it feels like 90% of the world and you can create an account at the white label exchange Orbit only through agents.

2) Crypto books are nice, yes, but I have yet to find one that is not limiting accounts to ridiculous low amounts quite fast. There is no crypto bookie like Pinnacle and the likes, so once you are done with Sportsbet, FJ, Stake etc., you have to go back to more traditional sites.

As for OP's service - it doesn't look very trustworthy to me and there are established services, where you can do the same and don't have to be scared of losing your funds. Everyone has to start at some point, but OP is not very responsive and wasn't really online after opening this thread. So better stay away, looks fishy Smiley

Not sure, what is "decent volume" for you, but Stake has quite some markets with ok-ish odds.

https://stake.com/sports/politics-entertainment/outrights

Exbet Exchange will open their gates in 4 days and they will have the US Election as well in a Betfair-like environment with only 1% commission. But afaik there will be KYC if you withdraw bigger amounts.

We are still missing some picks - it's ok to take a break Grin - so here is what we got so far:

Consensus found for Brazil, Colombia, Spain and Germany as of now. Looking at the rest of our picks, no one picked the home teams England and Ireland, who normally should have a good shot at winning their games - one of them will win for sure now^^. Will be interesting to see how Ireland reacts to being eliminated from Euro 2020 PO just yesterday. They could play with a chip on their shoulder or not care at all. No draw picked for Orlando - Columbus, which has some draw tendency imo. Lets see, good luck Smiley
555  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UEFA Nations League 2020/2021 Discussion Thread on: October 08, 2020, 09:59:36 AM
I see that there are eight games today and it says Promotion in Flashscore. What promotion is this, isn’t Nation league just started a month ago or is this the promotion from last year Nations League as I am a bit confused about the games today?

Those matches are the Playoffs for the (postponed) Euro 2020, you can find an overview here and also discuss the matches in that thread, if you like. If you want to discuss them in here, that is fine as well imo, so we have all those international matches for the next days in one thread.
556  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: October 08, 2020, 09:38:17 AM
I usually end with 5+ draws and I hit maybe 50% of them.

This is not true Cheesy But you are close Wink

Here is a break-down of your draw history:

Week 32: 3 draws picked, 2 correct
Week 33: 5 draws picked, 1 correct
Week 34: 8 draws picked, 2 correct
Week 35: 6 draws picked, 3 correct
Week 36: 3 draws picked, 1 correct
Week 37: 4 draws picked, 1 correct
Week 38: 6 draws picked, 3 correct
Week 39: 4 draws picked, 2 correct
Week 40: 7 draws picked, 4 correct (Juve vs Napoli dnp)

So overall you pick 5.11 draws per MM and hit on 42.22% (19/45) of those, which is pretty good.
557  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UEFA Nations League 2020/2021 Discussion Thread on: October 07, 2020, 11:06:58 PM
What even was the purpose of these friendly matches?

This year they will play a ton of games (depends on COVID), they will play 2 more games next week with the nations team Roll Eyes

Only a waste of time, risk for COVID for no reason IMHO.

It's super stupid to have all these international/qualifier matches interrupting the domestic leagues in general, I don't know anyone who likes them Grin And all this while a lot of players are complaining with too many matches, too few time to rest in summer break etc. Footballers are super spoiled imo, but they have a point, since they have to play more and more matches every year, which also increases the risk of injuries. But as we all know, it's about money. Domestic leagues want to make money, domestic football associations, UEFA, FIFA, TV stations etc. as well. So the more matches, the better Wink

What I would like to see, but what will never happen, is to get rid of qualifying matches for EC/WC for the majority of teams. For example Euro 2021 features 24 teams - just take the UEFA rankings and the best 12 or 16 teams are qualified automatically, they will qualify anyway. The rest of the teams can play a little 3-week tournament the summer before the event and fill the remaining places.
That way the top players, who also play EL/CL, will have their summer completely free every two years and can rest properly. This would also shorten the domestic leagues and/or put some more room to breathe for the scheduling. And you would still find 2-3 weeks before or after season to have some kind of national team training camp with some friendlies for the teams that usually are pre-qualified by ranking.

Fun fact: Germany has never won a match in UNL Shocked Will they finally be able to get 3 points in Ukraine on Saturday ? Grin
558  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: October 07, 2020, 10:26:31 PM
~snip~

Iirc, you did very well in the last MM which had alll these UNL games and even won that edition (with lots of others). And checking the menu from that week, it also featured the Flamengo game, so probably a good omen Wink

MLS still has a full round this night, so maybe a bit stupid to already submit the bets, but anyway here are mine:

Atlanta United FC - New York Red Bulls
Brazil - Bolivia
CR Vasco da Gama - CR Flamengo RJ
Colombia - Venezuela
Croatia - Sweden DRAW
England - Belgium
France - Portugal
Ireland - Wales
New York City - New England Revolution DRAW
Orlando City SC - Columbus Crew
Poland - Italy DRAW
Russia - Turkey
SE Palmeiras SP - Sao Paulo FC SP
Spain - Switzerland
Ukraine - Germany

@Ty 351 is super low, given that Liverpool last lost that much in 1963, about 50 games a season means 2850 games in between, yeah, very bad odds.

Yep, 7-2 is a super rare score in any bigger league. And then you had the huge underdog winning with this score, which makes it even more unlikely. Without having any data to back it up, I would assume that there never was a @7.00 underdog winning 7-2 in EPL history ever Smiley And the odds for 7-2 for Liverpool were @251 as well, which is not that much lower as the @351 for Villa winning 7-2, and this just shows how unlikely this result is in general; no matter who is fav and who is dog.
559  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: October 07, 2020, 09:55:41 PM
Sitting at 4-0 id run with Allen than I would Prescott at this point.  Even of the cowboys win the division it will be with an 8-8 record or something like that.  Usually mvp comes out of the top couple teams in the league.  Unless he shatters records Prescott ain't winning it since Dallas defense is trash.

Yes, agree generally. But the fact that Allen is 4-0 and Prescott is 1-3 and they have the same MVP odds, is telling something, because Prescott is on pace for one hell of a season stat-wise:

After a 500 yard performance in week four against the Cleveland Browns, Dak Prescott is on pace to throw for 6,760 passing yards in 2020. If that pace holds up, it would shatter thecurrent single season passing record, which belongs to Peyton Manning who threw for 5,477 yards in 2013 with the Denver Broncos.

According to the article, to just break - not shatter - the record, he needs 316 yds/game for the rest of the season, which is very doable (remember they still play our Giants twice, although the defense was fine against the Rams Tongue). And they have the easiest remaining schedule of all NFL teams, so a winning record is still very much in reach. If we assume them sweeping WAS/NYG, they are already at 5-3 virtually. Bills still have a lot of tough games on their schedule, as I wrote the other day: Titans, Chiefs, Patriots (2), Seahawks, 49ers, Steelers.
560  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: October 07, 2020, 08:49:38 AM
I'm assuming josh allen didn't have specific odds on him.

QB's are normally not hidden in the field, since they are very likely to win MVP. According to this and this he was around 50-70 before the season. Now he is around 12 - the same as Prescott, who I think has a good shot, if Dallas starts to win.
