DRK will be USD$101 in 2015.
We should turn this into a competition. Price is right style (the closest without going over).
What is the closing price January 1st, 2015 in USD (using cryptsy and bitcoinaverage.com)?
Winner gets???

my official guess:

closing price January 1st, 2015 in USD:   1 DRK  ≤  $75.00

one time!

(of course, if there's a prize for the winner then a rich person could manipulate the DRK price on that day.)

I adjusted the colors and altered the design in the center of the logo.

(The subtle blurred separation in the dark diagonal bar across the center is intentional to represent anonymized un-linked transactions.)

February 16th, 2014 the day DarkCoin first reached dollar parity.  Cool

..even though it's not even on any big exchanges yet. just imagine what would happen if btc-e added DRK.  Shocked

people are going to notice DarkCoin now as it approaches the spotlight near the top of coinmarketcap, and before long all the exchanges will be eager to add DRK.  Wink

thinking about it now, maybe DarkSend's source code should be kept secret for quite a while. eventually it will need to be released of course, but so long as DarkCoin is the only anonymous coin, it will be better money than Bitcoin and will get adopted by the whole world. if the source is kept secret, I think DarkCoin price could go up to thousands of dollars per 1 DRK this year, adoption could spread like a wildfire, and, unlike Bitcoin, DarkCoin would be essentially unregulatable. transactions with DarkSend can't be easily tracked, they're just like physical private cash transactions.
Please don't reopen this debate.  It has been decided to be released open source which is the correct decision.  A lot of money has been invested based upon that as many of us agree that closed source and anonymity will not work.
Thank you.

right, I know the majority of people here agreed it should be open-source, so that's the plan. but I think postponing the code's release until DarkCoin gets established as the world's best crypto-currency might be beneficial. I'm sure the developers will decide to do whatever is best.

if DarkSend works without any flaws, then DarkCoin will be better than Bitcoin. before all the other coins copy-and-paste the DarkSend code, we should really establish DarkCoin as the world's main crypto-currency. we need professional-looking user-friendly phone apps, paper wallets, video tutorials, promotional literature like brochures, ads, etc. and good social media presence. we need it to be totally simple and straight-forward for merchants and retailers to accept DRK and store it securely. and it would be nice to get DarkCoin on CoinMKT.com where you can buy and sell them for $USD with money orders or bank transfers.

actually, for a long time I've been enthusiastic about Megacoin, and I still am. but now that Eduffield and InternetApe are about to achieve the implementation of anonymity in DarkCoin's core protocol, I'm shifting a lot of my focus here now.

I made this video for Megacoin. (it was a LOT of work!) if I get enough extra time, I'd be willing to make some similar videos to promote DarkCoin once DarkSend is successfully implemented.

if DarkSend source is openly given out to the other coins, who knows if DarkCoin would benefit that much from having been the original anonymous coin, or if other coins with more of a head-start would just stay in the lead when they also implement it.

thinking about it now, maybe DarkSend's source code should be kept secret for quite a while. eventually it will need to be released of course, but so long as DarkCoin is the only anonymous coin, it will be better money than Bitcoin and will get adopted by the whole world. if the source is kept secret, I think DarkCoin price could go up to thousands of dollars per 1 DRK this year, adoption could spread like a wildfire, and, unlike Bitcoin, DarkCoin would be essentially unregulatable. transactions with DarkSend can't be easily tracked, they're just like physical private cash transactions.

financial anonymity is an inevitability. it's ultimately what everyone wants. outlawing and prohibiting this technology would be against the will of the people, just like alcohol prohibition was. eventually it just can't be stopped.

closed-source would require the world to trust DarkCoin's developers, but it's obviously in the devs' interests to develop a functional anonymous coin that's totally fair and square, especially since the code will eventually be released anyway. why would they try to rig it if that would just destroy the coin's value?

trusting DarkSend code seems to me like less of a stretch than trusting some of these Bitcoin and alt-coin exchanges with your real coins.

I'll be speaking at the Cryptocurrency Convention on Apr 9th in NewYork, detailing how DarkSend works and promoting DarkCoin. If anyone will be in NewYork at that time I'd love to meet you!
http://cryptocurrencyconvention.com/
*My details should be up on the site soon
Is that wise? Considering you are making something that can have some serious implications in the real world.
I'm just making the technology. Me nor InternetApe support any illegal use of this technology (drug sites, darknet, etc). It's more about the privacy of the blockchain, it was made to be way too open and I can solve that.
It's kind of the same thing as us building and selling guns. Someone could buy one to defend their house or someone could buy it to do terrible things.

+1

DarkSend is not a crime.  Cool

Darkcoin has been added to www.coinmarketcap.com -- We're number 39 Smiley

nice!  Cool

the world will discover DarkCoin soon. wish I could afford to buy more coins now.

Me and Ape spent the last couple nights defeating various bugs with the implementation. We're making huge progress to a closed alpha, there's a couple more things I want to work out, then we should be able to release something (maybe this weekend if we're lucky?  Grin)

nice!  Cool

congratulations on being the first to achieve this, I think it'll be a big deal. glad I discovered DarkCoin when I did.

Ps, As for naming things, I think I'm going with DarkSend. It works well in all of the different ways it needs to "Darkcoin with DarkSend", "./darkcoind darksend Xaddr 10", "Just darksend the money", "The darksend is still pending", "To see the status of the DarkSend Pool, just type getpoolinfo", and all of the classes will sound cool (DarkSend, DarkSendPool, DarkSendInfo).

sounds perfect.

hi everyone,

I just discovered DarkCoin today! I'd been hoping Megacoin would be the first anonymous crypto-currency, but now seeing this, I'm going to start investing in DarkCoin too.

I like DarkShroud, DarkEngine, or DarkCash.

Block explorers are already listed here: https://www.xivra.com/xivras-technical-details/
Apparently it slipped my mind to add the info about coinpayments.net . Will do today.
Thanks

oh I see, cool.

so, how do you officially pronounce "Xivra"?

I don't see a block explorer link on xivra.com. you could add this one: http://altexplorer.net/chain/Xivra

also, I think you should make it more visible on xivra.com that anyone can set up XIV payment processing with coinpayments.net.

sorry if this has been answered before, but how do you officially pronounce "Xivra"?

http://www.btc38.com/altcoin/mec/  under MEC technical parameters:

"there have been a fault block fracture" (chinese translated to english by google)

I don't think that's correct, is it?  Huh

560  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XIV] Xivra hits it's first exchange on: February 02, 2014, 05:27:47 PM
Xivra has already a so called 'gravity well' from the start.  Grin A much more simple implementation then the so called 'Kimoto gravity well'.
The reason that Xivra is a lot less affected compared to many other crypto currencies is that we implemented a maximum difficulty change of max +25% and due to the fact that multi-pools are focused on quick return on their mining power. Xivra is more focused on loyal miners with a block maturity setting of 600 blocks +20.

nice, I stand corrected.  Smiley

hostdab.com looks great!
