yeah $1580 for 1TH?  2-3 months too late IMO

OK, So I swapped the controller cables around.

Looking from the back of the S3 (where the ethernet port is).

1st try: Put left hand controller cable in right hand blade, other controller cable unplugged = bleeped and fans going full blast and wouldn't boot up
2nd try: Put right hand controller cable in left hand blade, other controller cable unplugged = fans going full blast and wouldn't boot up
3rd try: Put right hand controller cable in left hand blade, put left hand controller in right hand blade = booted up but showed only chain #1 @ 206-210GH/s
4th try: Left cables as the S3 was delivered =  booted up but showed only chain #1 @ 206-210GH/s

I'm no expert but it seems that the controller might be faulty?

It seems the right hand controller on the board doesn't make the blade its connected to work.

I'm not happy taking the controller out of the other working S3 to test it, just in case I end up with 2 faulty S3 miners.

The mail/support options seem to have dissapeared from the Bitmain website login?

Should I just email them asking for a replacement controller?

yeah but they will make you test working controller on another s3 and send them screenshots of all troubleshooting steps.. i just went through same thing

Will upgrade of S1 to S3 use the same S1 controller board that has wireless access. Will I still be able to use a wireless connection?

yes, s3 controller has wireless access, just swap the antennae

So I got my new control boards after RMA'ing the original ones since they hashed at 401-420ghs/ at stock clock

the new boards came with a weird antminer S1 firmware and all the FREQ clocks are for S1 (like 300M, 350M, 400M) and they were all set to 350M

after flashing latest firmware on bitmains website and changing clock to 218.75 they seem to be hashing ok.. although now one of them keeps getting a shitty x/- asic status

s0br, you get my PM about my account / wallet situation?

I have this one:

how about 0.19 BTC shipped

I assume a 750Ti too much for you as well?

$45k in 3 days. That's the lottery he is playing.

make that 60k.. dude found a 4th block

So did bitguru actually have over 250gh avg hash? Because its posted in the op @ 223gh

Geez man, it's s0br's pool. He can give the gear to any one he wants.

Yeah thanks captain obvious, but ops rules still say 250 minimum, so if he's lowered it than maybe it should be announced to advertise to the miners with single s1's

he found 3 blocks within 2 days!

How does bitguru win with 223avg hash when rules say must have 250?

I trust that s0br is working things out Smiley

haha! passing out though, you sure that nickname is still true?  Grin

I just got back from UPS to send my faulty board back to Bitmain.  The guy at the counter was amazed that the label was for Express service, and he said that costs over $1000 to do that!  If Bitmain would set up an advance replacement system (with a small BTC deposit for security against receiving the faulty unit), they could save that excessive cost in one direction of the warranty process.

I just sent them an email to that effect.  It's a win/win - Bitmain could save a lot of money by only having to ship the replacement part on the expensive service, and use a regular (cheap) service to receive the faulty.  The customer benefits by getting the replacement part first and won't have to shut down their mining hardware while waiting for the replacement (at least in cases unlike mine where they at least have a partially operable unit).

BITMAIN - PLEASE CONSIDER THIS!  Not only is it pretty much standard practice for a lot of manufacturers, in this case it actually will SAVE YOU A SHIPLOAD OF MONEY.    Add to that the side-effect of happy customers, I don't see how you can't implement this!

Can you give me a single example of an electronics manufacturer agreeing to send out a replacement part before they receive the defective part?!?!  Certainly not standard practice.

Also, companies that ship large amounts negotiate rates with the carriers directly, NO WAY that costs bitmain anything close to $1000!

Certainly they can negotiate better rates, but why would they use a premium service when they don't have to?  Even at negotiated rates, that is still going to be significantly more expensive.

As for advance replacements, I guess it depends on your industry.  I work in IT doing network and server support through my own company.  If a network switch, or a server hard drive dies, my client is NOT going to want to wait 2-3 weeks for the replacement to come in.  Most manufacturers in this sector for mission critical and time-sensitive applications frequently offer the option of sending out an advance replacement.  Lots of times a credit card is required as security against receiving the defective part.  The replacement part is overnighted (in most cases) and the packaging is used to send the replacement part back (ensuring proper packaging instead of just whatever materials can be found).  Return label is included in the shipment of the replacement part, and all you have to do is box it up, call the number on the courier label and request a pickup.

yeah I work in IT too, and Dell does this

they ship you the part with return label, if after 60 days or some other time frame they dont get the defective part they charge you.

BITMAIN could easily set this up, requiring a small deposit up front and then ship the part directly to you with the return label included in the package

And it's down again, but my miner is reporting shares being accepted so only the front-end seems to be affected.

There were a couple of users that came in and seemingly were able to submit (possibly) fake work... I'm still investigating this but in the meantime both of their combined shares have been isolated. Their possibly bogus shares are no longer affecting everyone's payouts for the round...

Everything should be fixed now. We'll keep monitoring... we're mining internally too... so rest assured something like this won't go unnoticed!

i noticed my stats and some other users on the pool were extremely high yesterday

I had some workers on full failover on the pool and some others on via load balance with eligius and bitsolo as the other 2 and they were reporting correct values for the load balance.. so i think the issue is not "users submitting fake work" it was something wrong with the pool stats, if you look back you can see the total pool hash speed jump around alot.  at one point there was a guy with like 1 or 2PH showing in the stats

It wasn't the stats alone... I literally moved the shares of these 2 users outside the main tables... and rebuilt all the statistics... it took some time but all the stat interference they contributed to is no longer there.... There are a couple of new things I added in the backend to prevent this sort of thing from happening again. That particular guy and another are no longer part of the pool.

yeah I noticed the particular guy in the stats is gone, not sure who the other was.. but as long as its taken care of not a huge deal! lets just move on and find a block

Dont do it! Its really not worth sending them back. 420 gh/s is actually within the 441 +/- 5% range bitmain has advertised. That extra ~20 gh/s is only about 30 cents a day.  You will lose more having the miners not hashing than from the lower hashrate. At the very least wait for a few difficulty increases before sending them back.

too late, just gave the package to the UPS guy Smiley

Did you have to pay for shipping at all?

no, bitmain provided return label
