The distribution plan sounds very interesting to me.

Sir, you just got your first pool.

Yes, there is a memory leak in this version that causes massive resource uptake before the inevitable crash.

How massive? I'm just wondering if my VPS can handle it or should I wait for a fix.

very massive. my nodes were trying to grab over 6 gigs of ram each. the nodes also won't always come up, it throws the "not capable masternode" error.

It also consumes a lot of cpu since the .16.5, enough to crash most of the vps the nodes runs on. I also saw a massive uptake in bandwidth being thrown out of the wallets earlier.

Lol you're talking as if I could just decided and start forking the network..

You could, or you could be coerced into doing so, or for example some employee at the datacentre could be bribed into restarting your pool servers with malicious code replacing your existing code, etc.

Are you aware you need at LEAST 51% to do that? Are you aware that i'm nowhere near that 50%?

You are wrong. Less that 51% still causes problems, >51% just guarantees success.

If anything, we help the darkcoin blockchain stay strong against 40gh/s hammers moving around such as waffle and god knows what other pools (the unknowns). I doubt its the p2pool at 1% of the hash who will protect it from any fork.

As of right now, we have a use wether you like it or not.

I have never questioned your personal integrity, I am merely pointing out your vulnerability, which is a vulnerability to everyone who owns DRK.

You can keep whining, this won't make us go away nor help your cause. In society, you sometimes have to work with other peoples towards greater good, which you're not.

You and moli can keep bitching about me all day long on IRC, ditto. Wink

You're biting the hand that feeds you at the moment, yet again.

You don't feed anyone but yourself. If you cared about the security of the blockchain, you wouldn't be running a centralised pool.

None of your points stands yet because since the beginning we have been supportive and complying with the darkcoin community to all extents. If you are to pick a target, at LEAST pick up some that is not trustworthy or not cooperating as much as they should be. We're always one of the fastest, if not the fastest pool to upgrade it's daemons at every update.

I don't think my point has been understood by you, much less addressed. You are in denial about the basic risk that you pose to the network.

Edit; crouton you the almighty, why don't you just come up with the code to make the standard pools p2pool? I'm all ears, bring it we'll try it Smiley

Here you go: https://bitbucket.org/dstorm/p2pool-drk.git Grin  - let me know when you're done, I'll point my rigs your way.

I know very well you can't be satistisfied, hence I won't be loosing my time trying. It's just not worth it. If I do it myself, it'll be because I have the time to and the will, not because you dictate me to do so.

I am not in denial, just there is worse things to attend for now. Like that darksend flaw, for example.

And I don't feed anyone but myself? You gotta be joking right? lol. You're just full of it, I am not interested in dealing with your kind of people. I have had other members contacting me privately to talk about solution, and I am fully happy to discuss with them. With you, it's kind of one sided and you're close minded, hence we won't ever reach agreement.

Stop having me loose my time with your rants, you remind me of Alex Jones.

I welcome anybody (as long as its not a crouton sock puppet account!) to come discuss with me possible solutions and ideas to make mining better. I am opened to suggestions and help to integrate a peer to peer approach to the pool, I am just not willing to do it just because seniorita crouton orders me to Smiley

In greater words, get lost crouton. To the rest of the community, your suggestions are very welcomed! I'm not the ruthless poolop that crouton claims I am.

EDIT: Hey crouton, by the way.. it's hosted by ourself in our own cabinet with our own feeds.. At the ISP where I work at.. so that employee at the datacenter? It's me. Wink

Stop thinking in what ifs... see this as I am a town mayor, citizens elected me (by coming into our pool) to represent them. Our track record is mint, so why are you wasting your time bothering us when there is bigger and potentially harming fish to fry? Spare your time, leave us the fuck alone Wink

Why would I be intentionally killing the blockchain?
Are you retarded?

Probably an unstable individual like you, in my position, would do so. I just won't. Are you trying to push me to do so? Won't work.

Either way, you're the kind of guy that will ever be complaining about something or another, so I'm getting used to your whining.

Sure, wishful thinking is a great way to implement security! Bad things never happen, why worry about it? Anyone who thinks having their finances completely at the mercy of a few people on the intertubes is a problem must be unstable!

@lonecrouton, having only masternodes will highly centralize dark. There is thousands of miners, vs a thousand and some masternodes. Centralisation.

You are a fucking moron.

(In case anyone is unaware, louiseth1 is one of those 3 people, running suchpool.)

Yes with 1000's of miners behind it.. it's not ME mining all those blocks myself, you seem to forget that with your closed vision. I just help all those miners to get together and enjoy a smooth platform.

There were a lot of organic pools before, but most of the big ones have fell off, and the users came to ours. We've been honest with the community and true supporters of darkcoin since its early days. Your point is just not constructive and plainly stupid.

At least on my darkcoin pool, the miners WANT to mine darkcoin. I deliver straight to the darkcoin community. In the case of waffle, its just rape n dump as the miners don't care about anything else than bitcoin. That's what should be avoided.

It doesn't matter how many miners are 'behind it' - they are all under your control, and you could either choose or be coerced into vandalising the blockchain, forking the network, crashing the price of DRK, basically killing the coin. Such an event would fuck all of us up, and pools like yours make it a dirt cheap possibility for any attacker. They don't need to spend millions on hardware to screw the newtwork, they just have to find you.

Look outside, it's an ugly world and people get killed every day for far less than the matket cap of DRK. Hoping that it will never happen is not a plan.

I have nothing against mining, I mine on p2pool, always have, but centralised pools are a huge liability.

Could you not make suchpool a p2pool node instead? Most of your miners would never know the difference and you would actually be helping to secure the network. At the moment, you're not, you're just a centralised point of failure.

Darkcoin right now (most cryptocurrencies right now) is NOT decentralised, we and other currencies have no right to call ourselves decentralised when a handful of people are in control of the blockchain, it's a complete lie.

Everyone panics about small theoretical flaws in the Darksend protocol while ignoring the giant security flaw with centralised PoW...  Huh

Hashrate swings are wild.
Somebody is able to mobilize 70 GHash in a matter of moments.

On p2pool there is a block found on a wrong chain?

That is called wafflepool Smiley

Multipools are an issue, regular ones arent.

so how bad is? I have few k in my wallet ... 6 active connection and doesn't sync, what can I do?

for now its pretty much safest to leave them in your wallet.

Any possibility of Bittrex fixing this?  I don't understand why they are allowing these markets to even open if this issue existed.  This is such a bad thing for crypto and yes you were correct it seems.  Nanite/Sparkcoin Dev., you are a fucking lying piece of shit.  I hope your shit gets hacked.

It's obvious since the beginning its the same dev, but he couldve at the least fixed the source properly for his new one..

Nice idea!

I would like to nominate Evan Duffield (bctuser eduffield), the DarkCoin developper for all his innovations up to now.

Would have been a great coin.. without the ICO.

@ Dev, ditch your ICO, put a small premine and we'll be behind you.

i dont know who this carsen is..anyway, please, can you stop FUD? you're saying unsensed things.. without any proof..
graphics is by hardroad, he's here as logo creator from so much time i think.. how many OPs made by him have you ever seen? what the hell, please stop shooting shit here, you're ruining my reputation and the trust in my coin.
Sorry dev I did not tell him I'm the designer, because I would like to know who is carsen  Smiley
all that graphics made buy me Roll Eyes not by carsen  and I am not carsen  Grin

Carsen is famous for the ton of coins he released and then dumped its premine on the freshly new markets.

He is suspected to still launch coins under other identities, lately ADMT. Public suspicions about this could be correct, you seem to have a similar infographic style than he did therefore people thought it might be carsen. The DDoS threats to minerpools really look like him though.
556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GMP] Gimpcoin | No ICO | x13 PoW/PoS hybrid | PoS 50% | C-Cex | 4% Premine on: November 11, 2014, 11:45:12 PM
Hi Dev:

Please remove my pool from the list, I'm not hosting the coin Wink

Thank you!

Because of ?

1. Premine % has wandered around way too many times for my taste, started out at 1%, turned out to be 10% of POW, now it's at 4% of POW...
2. Graphics look similar to carsen's, and even though his writing style is different, his attitude is pretty much the same.
3. He didn't want to remain at IRC and was pretty paranoid of us trying to get any info from him.

We as pools have to host coins, it's our job. But this one has had a couple of red flags already, it might be or it might not be carsen, either way I'm not hosting it, that's why I decided not to launch it.

1. Premine % was initially 70,000 coins.. you and the others FUDers obliged me to bring premine to 30,000.. and now are you still discussing of premine? hilarious
2. Graphics is by HardRoad..pretty cool nowadays, he's a great and reliable worker
3. i went our from IRC just because we was at 2 hours from launch, i had something to do, dont u think?

anyway.. we dont need your pool, we already have Suprnova (OCminer doesnt waste time in FUDs, maybe this is the reason why his pool is one of the best nowadays, dont u think?) and many others good pools.. thank you for your time my dear, i wish you all best dDos

Wow... that is being professionnal. After launching late, modifying your crazy ass premine, you are wishing ddos on pools that don't agree to your vision of things?

Good thing I grabbed my popcorn and didn't launch this coin Smiley

Looking forward to an interesting gong show!

EDIT: Your last reply really looks like it was wrote by Carsen.. same way of overracting like a kid.

The coin currently is forked.

We have identified two distinct forks:
1 has Bittrex, Coin-swap and Ipominer confirmed on it
The other one has SuchPool and Trademybit on it..

Simlar issue to Sparkcoin, obviously because it's the same dev/code.

Waiting for updates.

The network has split at block 4203. You can see by comparing block hashes:

The first fork shows blockhash of 28020c226f87847ae6c686bb72b7d876120ed2375e66809c06dded33ab5bc922
The other fork shows blockhash of 44e8487a517d27206ac1d4da9bbf724f90d5199f8523fcd7ccd61fe03f11e77c

We just did some modifications on our stratums at SuchPool.

Miners have had some small interruptions, but everything is back to normal now. Statistics shown on the pool should be more accurate now.

Send some hash our way, we need some blocks to ensure we're all set for good! www.SuchPool.pw/xmg

Thanks!
