That name is easily confused with Betco.in (aka Betcoin), the Texas Hold 'Em site.

BTW, that is an absolutely massive house edge you've got there!

Chance of winning: 50%
Chance of losing: 50%
Payout for winning: 150%

Chance of winningx Payout- Chance of losing= Expected Value
50%x 150%- 50%= 70%

...or in other words, a house edge of 30%.

Further research revealed that the pay table I was using was the very opposite of generous, even though its high pay for Flush and Straight provided the illusion that it was an overgenerous pay table. The reason was that the payout was the same for 3 of a kind as it was for 2 pair.

I moved to the more common "full pay" payout, which pays 3 of a kind more than 2 pair. (Source)

The double or nothing feature is not 50/50 it is favored to the house since if you push the dealers card you lose! This is not how most casino double or nothing features work. If you tie the dealers card it is a push. For that reason I won't be playing that feature anymore. Do not use the double down feature until this is fixed.

I just fixed it. Tongue

Also Im not sure how you are able to offer that paytable and the house makes money long-term unless you are rigging the game. I have never seen such a generous paytable in any casino.

I simply copied the pay-table from the JacksUp game at BitcoinGamer.com, under the assumption that the other site wouldn't have deployed an insane pay-table. Perhaps that was a foolish move on my part that will lead to disaster. I will have to do more research on that. But the game isn't rigged.

I don't have the URL. Mt. Gox is no longer offering public access to the page that had the link now that their main URL no longer redirects there.
545  Other / Meta / Re: New Forum for "Bitcoin Gaming" on: June 25, 2011, 11:39:11 PM
Depending on what jurisdiction the forum is hosted in, there might be little difference between gambling and pyramids when it comes to illegality. I'd bet that none of these games are licensed in their home countries anyway.

That said, is anyone working on this? Are the admins even aware of this proposal? These proposals have been around for a couple of days already.

I believe they're trying to hold back a secret. When Mt. Gox first set up support.mtgox.com, it had a comments section, and two separate people asked MagicalTux to "confirm or deny this", with a link to a thread in this forum. When I clicked the link, I got an error saying that the thread didn't exist. Both posts led to the same URL.

I have created a beautiful video poker game for the Bitcoin community.

I have fixed some payout issues that were brought up by members of this forum.

With TOR:

     http://ggzkvrlfneb7cqae.onion/

Without TOR:

    https://ggzkvrlfneb7cqae.tor2web.org/

Playing it is absolutely straightforward, unlike some of the other games being presented in this forum.

Cash-outs are processed after your deposit has 6 confirmations.

If this game is popular enough, I will create additional games.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

For those who have never played video poker, I will provide a description:

First, you place a bet (.01 - .05 BTC), and then you receive 5 cards. Your goal, as in 5-card draw poker, is to hold the right cards so you end up with the best possible hand. If you end up with at least a pair of jacks, you win!

Whenever you win a hand, you will be given the option to play Double or Nothing, a game in which you pick a card that is higher than the dealer's card. If you win, you can either collect double your original winnings, or play another round of Double or Nothing to win even more.

It seems like the logged-in-time requirement is actually 4 hours and 5 minutes. I was still a "Newbie" at 4 hours.

I am not prepared to believe that a mediocre PHP programmer is the same guy who wrote the Bitcoin technical paper.
552  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are the limits of BTC ? on: June 25, 2011, 10:18:28 AM
I would consider these things to be beyond the scope of the Bitcoin currency. There's no reason why the same banks that handle Letters of Credit in USD wouldn't end up being the ones issuing letters of credit denominated in Bitcoins, if large-scale international trade ever does become an important use-case for Bitcoin.
553  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Make it 100 posts to get out of here. on: June 25, 2011, 09:10:25 AM
I think that would create a market for a forum-posting bot.
554  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Businesses and Developers, Let's Get Started! on: June 25, 2011, 09:06:10 AM
I run a small gambling site over TOR: http://ggzkvrlfneb7cqae.onion/ or https://ggzkvrlfneb7cqae.tor2web.org/

I'm coming here to:

1. See what people think of my game.

2. See if I can get it hosted outside of TOR.

EDIT: In only 15 minutes, I will be eligible to post outside of this newbie section. Isn't this thread supposed to be for allowing businesses to get out before the standard waiting period?
555  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why all the bitcoin haters? on: June 25, 2011, 07:39:59 AM
There's no contradiction between the early adopters getting rich and bitcoin failing to keep its value in the future. All that's required for them to get rich is for the price to go high enough for long enough and with enough BTC-USD trading volume. Once that's been managed, the whole thing can fail spectacularly and they'll still have a small fortune if they've played their cards right. In fact, it's possible the process of them cashing out will be partly what triggers the whole thing to fail spectacularly.

Exactly. That's the way most pump and dump schemes go. There's a good chance it's already gone.

I hope so. Because the price is still $17. If the "dump" is over, then great. That means we can get on with it.
556  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any newbies here who heard of Bitcoins, but found it was underwhelming? on: June 25, 2011, 06:39:56 AM
Based on rumors that I've heard about the Federal Reserve, I think USD might be in a similar position as Bitcoin vis-a-vis shareholders that are sitting on a large enough pile that they can crash the market if they want. We already know about China, but how many Fed-gifted USD is JP Morgan Chase sitting on?

(My apologies if you find the market I serve to be somewhat... unsavory.)
557  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Make it 100 posts to get out of here. on: June 25, 2011, 06:13:56 AM
Make it 100 posts are needed to get out of this area, not the time spent logged or whatever. The amount of spam is absurd.

Make it 300 posts. That way you're stuck in here, too.
558  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any newbies here who heard of Bitcoins, but found it was underwhelming? on: June 25, 2011, 06:11:25 AM
I have a [em]ahem[/em] restricted product to peddle (see my username). I can't afford to be picky about little things like price instability and hacked exchanges. As long as I can sell Bitcoins for real money, I can accept them like real money.
