Make it 100 posts are needed to get out of this area, not the time spent logged or whatever. The amount of spam is absurd.

Raising it to 100 post would be absurd and create more spam for the newbies who have to get out. The key is to have more moderators who are more active in sorting out crap.

Its been hard enough to get the amount of posts I have now with out just making spam posts that don't contribute anything.
Eventually ill get board and leave this forum and im sure a lot of other valid members will do so as well.

Maybe a better way to get rid of unwated users would be a knowledge test or proof in some other way.

Make it 300 posts. That way you're stuck in here, too.

Would it be hard to establish an alternative channel to prove I'm neither bot nor spammer? I'd really prefer to solve 10 captcha or similar and wait exactly a board prescribed random time (~30sec) in between providing input. A combination of a minimum waiting time and some proof of human, time-consuming work should deter posters the board doesn't want? Hopefully nobody will judge me by my 5 useless initial posts. All I wanted is to ask more question on a couple of interesting threads before thy die down...

Make it 1000.

Then like 25 people have the whole rest of the boards to themselves.

I think that would create a market for a forum-posting bot.

I don't actually know what the criteria for being able to move out of this area is, but it should not be based on quantity of posts.

Quality is what is needed. Taking part in threads in a constructive and non abusive way.

The amount of trolls with 199 posts is even more absurd.

how about something like answering 5 questions about bitcoin/economy, and writing 1 sentence about what you wish to accomplish on the forums? that would filter out a lot of spammers for sure, while allowing serious "newbies" to start posting interesting posts right away.

Spammers could easily do what you suggest.

Perhaps a 5000 word essay... any grammatical errors and you get perma IP banned, lol

Sorry, I'm just being silly Smiley

I think that epic leetspeak should allow instant whitelisting in the form of a secret code

One line such as

Lulz iz cun wa1t to gtfo of here! LMAOWTFPWNBBQ

Should be like a secret old school konami code

i just love confined spaces where i can talk to myself and on the other hand see all kinds of babling idiots get away with pyramid schemes and pron pictures that steal processing power of users who watch them while fapping.
clever but immoral.

50 is definitely not enough.   Anyone who wants to stay using the board will have to suffer through that.

Something like SomethingAwful works well because the cost for the user to sign up.   Something in the middle of the spammer and the forum tends to work, as spammers who are having to work forums manually are obviously poor and tend to not be patient, having 100 posts will weed things down to only the most elite spammers lol
