Just a little tip for people sending merit: If you click the browser back button immediately after sending merit you will send it again. Unless you intend to merit the same post twice, close the window after sending.
542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin is a project of FBI? on: January 29, 2018, 04:00:58 AM
If that so, what is the purpose of FBI? As far as I know, FBI is anti-crime agency and not a marketing company. They will not make an effort here unless they have person to be hunted.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is a police agency. They're cops. They chase bad people only inside of American borders and put them in little boxes with bars.
543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin is a project of FBI? on: January 29, 2018, 03:41:10 AM
The FBI doesn’t do that sort of work. If you want to create a good conspiracy thread you need to do a little research.

The U.S Cyber Command, National Security Agency, Central Security Service and Central Intelligence Agency have the brain power and computers to do it. The Central Security Service is responsible for signals intelligence, cryptology and information assurance so they would be my best guess for being the creator of bitcoin.
544  Other / Off-topic / Re: Merit System Upgrade on: January 28, 2018, 11:13:59 PM
What i have understood upto now is that Merit system had just made all the ranking system very complex, i think it was not required to be honest, now that it is implemented i think merit button should be provided right below each post so that it can be used more, it should be a prominent button, just like fb has Like button and reddit has upvote, so that relevant and proper posts should easily earn merit points, im regular poster what i have experienced about this system is that these points are hard to get, since this system has been implemented i have made around 20-30 posts but have not received even a single Merit point that just goes to show that it will not be easy to earn for average forum posters. So please atleast make it easy to earn if it cannot be changed or removed. Thank you!

I’ve seen a lot of people bitching about not getting merit around the forum when this system just started. I’m going to respond to you with the intent of helping them understand too.

I’ve been here since November 18, 2012 as QuestionAuthority and since the beginning of 2011 as CornedBeefHash. I’ve been here more than 7 years. I’ve been here so long that my computers spell check auto corrects to member names that aren’t even here anymore. I swear to god, if I try to type organize one more time and this stupid computer replaces that with organofcorti I’m going to set it on fire. The merit system has been in place for a few days. Would you really expect people that have been here for three quarters of a decade to rank you up in a couple of days?

I want to help people that I see were unduly hurt by the merit system to rank up but I don’t expect it to be fast. I don’t expect everyone to make 20-30 posts and receive merit for all of them or any of them unless they are really good or add something to the discussion. If you are here long enough you will gain rank. Rank status is meaningless for anyone not using this forum as a paycheck anyway. You can still travel around the forum having meaningful discussions with everyone here as a Sr. Member. That is, after all, what forums are really supposed to be used for anyway. I don’t help altcoin people anyway so posting in this thread won’t help you. There is a link in this thread for someone helping alt people.
545  Other / Off-topic / Re: Scientific proof that God exists? on: January 28, 2018, 08:32:18 PM
All you are trying to do is suggest that creation and evolution are the same thing. You are the one who is a little (more than a little) crazy.

Yes, you have made it abundantly clear you believe anyone who will not stick their head in the sand is crazy and childish.

Luckily, science (and 465 pages) have proven gods doesn't exist.  Smiley

There’s nothing you can do about BADecker. I think his mommy raped his brain with a Bible when he was young and 50 years of therapy wouldn’t be enough to fix that.

Have you heard about this relatively new Christian cult called the quiverfull movement? Those “19 kids and counting” tv show nut jobs are a part of it. They actually claim (not in these words of course) that they are going to out breed nonbelievers until they overtake the world. They believe women should be completely subservient to men and be ruled by their husband like a pet. One of the kids on that show, Josh Dugger, cheated on his wife and fingerbanged his sisters when they were sleeping. His stupid wife didn’t leave him (because men are more important than women) but instead she shit him out another baby. Man, Christians are fucking hilarious.
546  Other / Off-topic / Re: How Bitcoin Can Change The World? on: January 28, 2018, 08:14:19 PM
Damn, I’m disappointed. I thought you were going to tell me how bitcoin can change the world. As I clicked the link I was already getting prepared. I said to myself, “ok, let’s see what genius idea this guy has for changing the world. I had my pencil all sharpened and ready to tell you the real deal but then you left me hanging.

OP, I have no idea what you think about bitcoin. Do you like bitcoin, hate bitcoin, think it’s going to change the world or do do you see us all as dumb asses chasing a dream. Why don’t you tell us what you think instead of making us guess. You could start with something like, “I’ve read people say bitcoin will change the world but I don’t know how it could, do you? Simply posting the same thing twice isn’t giving me enough to talk to you about.

Btw, you can change the original post anytime you like but it’s polite to say “edit” when you do.
547  Other / Off-topic / Re: Merit System Upgrade on: January 28, 2018, 07:44:27 PM
I would like to be tested QA, anytime you would have time for that definitely,
PS: Does not make a big difference for me now raising in rank or not, better let action speak by themselves.
I´m here for the long term and want to test my actual understanding
Trow me any question..
Thanks for your time Wink

Let’s start with this: Lead me to some of your older posts that you feel good about, when you realized you liked bitcoin and you want to be here because you want to know more. Paste links in the thread.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2147699.msg21501337#msg21501337

I looked at that post and checked around your other posts and your’re an altcoin person. I’m not handling that. There’s a guy in that section that is awarding merit for altcoin supporters.

The thread is here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2833111.msg29044855#msg29044855

Hehehhe, i knew you would say something like that,
Show me anywhere where i asked you for merits points?
Assuming things without having the confirmation is not a sign of wisdom, with all respect buddy.
Altcoins? What can i talk about bitcoin when everytime people is not able to agree of a simple issue regarding the network limit, i not pro bcash so you don't start assuming again, either im pro segwit or segwit2x, it's better a offchain scale than onchain? Both have problems, what would Satoshi do? This things have been talked for aged here with no concrete solution, sometimes people age or field doesn't count too much you know...
So read again my question without assuming, if you have a good question trow it, if not just skip this message.

Oh, my bad. I thought you wanted to apply for merit because that’s the only reason to post in this thread and you asked me to question you. I don’t want to waste the space by playing a game with you here. It is good to have this seen by others though. Maybe it will keep down the off topic posts. Thanks

Dude, excellent thread and excellent move taking people apart.

We need more people like you in this place

Thanks, nice of you to say. I prefer to think of it as helping people out though. LOL
549  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ongoing Civil War in U.S.A. corporation on: January 28, 2018, 06:08:36 PM
Have you ever just sat back and thought to yourself: “Hey, you know what, I’m crazy as a shithouse rat.”
550  Other / Off-topic / Re: Merit System Upgrade on: January 28, 2018, 05:44:55 PM
I agree with this approach. [...]

I hope you invested QuestionAuthority as a source, because he rightly deserves to be one.

Thanks, nice of you to say but I don’t think I would like that because it would bring unwanted attention to me.
551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is BTC the new gold ? on: January 28, 2018, 05:35:23 PM
I get your point. Bitcoin is supposed to be a cryptocurrency, a digital money that can be used as an exchange for goods or even services, and to increase convenience and innovative. However it was not designed as it is supposed to be and now everyone is treating it like a gold. It drastically goes high in value.

That’s close to what I mean, yeah.
552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is BTC the new gold ? on: January 28, 2018, 05:30:58 PM
Have you figured out how to do this with bitcoin yet?

How about this:

Or this:

What is your point here? Bitcoin is having a different purpose when compared to that of gold. But that doesn't mean that there are no similarities between the two assets. Just like gold, Bitcoins can also be used to protect the value of your savings.

My point is the post above yours. You don’t need to compare bitcoin to gold, silver, debit cards, MasterCard, welfare cards, my daughter, my car or anything. I’m sure I can find similarities between bitcoin and all of them but they are fundamentally different.

Bitcoin can be sent around the world in minutes. Gold can’t.
Bitcoin, if used correctly, can eliminate the need for a broker or bank to help you. Gold can’t.
I can carry a million dollars worth of bitcoin in a number written on the underside of my dick. Try carrying a million dollars worth of gold with your dick.

Gold can be used to make jewelry, aerospace parts and computer electronics. Bitcoin can’t.
553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is BTC the new gold ? on: January 28, 2018, 05:14:09 PM
Why does everyone always want to compare bitcoin to something they already know. Is it that hard to wrap your head around something completely different?

My car is better than my daughter.

Sometimes my daughter refuses to eat. My car never refuses to eat gas.

My daughter sometimes won’t do what I ask her to do. My car never refuses my control and takes me everywhere I want to go.

My daughter and my car sometimes get sick. My car always lets the doctor do what he needs to do to make it well. My daughter screams and refuses to take a shot even though it will make her better.

My daughter is smart but my car has a gps that tells me where I am on the planet.

I guess I should keep my car and get rid of my daughter.

Why we won't see moon colonies ever? Because moon is already covered with tokens and altcoins.

Ha ha, that’s a good one.

Knock Knock.

Who’s there?

Satoshi!

Who is Satoshi?
556  Other / Off-topic / Re: Merit System Upgrade on: January 28, 2018, 04:02:58 PM

You are mostly a bounty hunter in the altcoin section so I will ask you to look at the answer I gave to Duminda58031 above. I also want to help you with something specific.

I see you’re from Indonesia. In the thread, Re: what will you do if your country bans bitcoins?

You replied, “with the bitcoin I have, I will move my assets to the nearest safe state. and to popular global exchange. so that later will be easy to use when needed, and still be used as usual.”

Bank Indonesia head of transformation Onny Widjanarko said, “merchants are not to accept Bitcoin as an official payment instrument as the bank would not be responsible for any losses incurred through transactions.”
Bank Indonesia plans to issue a regulation prohibiting transactions using Bitcoin.

Your country is in turmoil over using crypto right now. Hopefully, that will change in the future. For now, don’t keep your cryptocurrency, of any kind, on any exchange for safe keeping. Exchanges have historically proven to be untrustworthy and you can lose everything you have worked so hard to build up. Keep it locally on a computer under your exclusive control. Or better yet, learn how to print a paper wallet and store that somewhere very safe.

Good luck

I cannot upgrade to member... can anyone help me out?

I don’t merit altcoin people or anyone under Full Member but here is a thread that does: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2833111.msg29044855#msg29044855

I can tell you what might help you get merit. It looks like most of your posts are in bounty threads. You’re here to make money and that’s fine (we all need to eat). The problem you're having is that other members of the forum need to see you add value to the forum before they will reward you for being here. You’re probably thinking, well how can I do that when these people know more about this stuff than I do. The thing I have been most impressed by from new people is when they don’t understand something, they ask me valid questions and make me dig deep to give them the most correct answer I can give. Everyone has a unique perspective and the potential to add something to conversations, but; you need to join conversations so they know you have something to add. If you do that, it won’t be long before you have merit.

QuestionAuthority, nice touch with your offer. I see some excellent posts across the forum that are helpful, informative and these are people who genuinely contribute to the forum. I also see far far more junk spewed out by people who haven't a clue what they are talking about and clearly post just to drive up their numbers. The merit system is potentially a good idea but I can now see active members contributing to the forum in a productive manner but simply not moving up the levels in a way that could be argued they deserve.

That’s true, I see more junk posts than good ones. I’m finding it difficult to locate posts to give merit to.

Same here. I am even looking through other members threads similar to yours and finding a few good posts but nowhere the amount I hoped for. It's almost a full time job without the pay.
I wonder if this is an indicator of just how bad the general crap post quality is?

Yeah, I think it’s an indicator of the depths the forum has sunk into. I knew the post quality was no where near what it used to be but I had no idea it was this bad. I’ve been searching around looking for those threads where debating leads to something special clicking, like used to be the norm, and I can’t find one. I looked around yesterday for nearly 5 hours and found nothing worthwhile under two years old. It’s really very sad.
