Lebron is out tonight, and the Lakers are on the road against the red hot Utah Jazz. Can't say it's a trap but it looks like the line is very hmmmm...  Jazz are only -3 now after their dominant performance against the Raptors. I get that Jazz are on a back to back, but can the Lakers beat the home team with Lebron?

If the answer is "NO", I guess it's nice to ride with the trendy Jazz since it's only -3.

Are you taking the Jazz tonight?
542  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto: a place where everyone makes money, but few secure it on: January 13, 2024, 09:58:24 PM
I was reading coinconfessions, and it occurred to to me that most of those who are in crypto go through a phase where they make lots of money, but eventually lose it all or most of it due to wrong decisions taken due to having lack of financial knowledge.

Some start fresh with lessons learned and make it back, for some having huge unexpected money come and gone creates a downward spiral that they feel hard to get out of, almost like they were better off not having this unexpected wealth come in first place.
I guess it's normal for beginners finding it hard to secure their earnings most especially that they are still feeling overwhelmed with the amount of profits they are getting. They will only know its value once they're completely lost, only to realized that they should have managed it wisely so that their earnings will grow instead.

However, it takes real knowledge and patience to secure your income by not wasting it on unnecessary wants. Otherwise, it would end up being lost because you are not wise on your decision making and only regret its consequences afterwards.

544  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 13, 2024, 01:42:39 PM

This is why NEPOTISM is a bad thing. Cheesy

Thanasis is playing like he's even worse than a G-league player. I just don't know why the Bucks are still choosing to sign him. Maybe because of Giannis? He's like the "Tacko Fall of the Celtics" where whenever he's playing, fans are cheering about him when in fact, he might be one of the worst players in the league right now. Cheesy Anyway, he will continue to be a laughingstock in the league for some time. I guess it's good so that the fans will be more entertained.  Grin Grin

There is no "maybe because of his brother" in the Thanasis question.
It is very well known that he is only signed with the Bucks to give Giannis a family member in the organisation.

When Giannis came to the league he was very home sick and missed his family. He was actually almost ready to leave Milwaukee and return to Greece at that time because he felt so bad.
Once they got the visa for his family to visit him it became better but family is and was always a very big factor for him.
And to keep him happy the Bucks would do anything, even giving up a valuable roster spot.

Obviously Thanasis doesn't have the talent to even come from the bench in the NBA, he wouldn't even start at a good team in Europe.
Even Kostas, who I think is a slightly better player than Thanasis, only averages around 7 points for Panathinaikos in the Greek league and 3 points in the Euroleague. That should tell everything.

That's how the Bucks valued Giannis that even his brother get signed just to retain Giannis. With the contract extention he signed last year, that could also mean that Thanasis will continue to be with the team for a while. Besides, if I am in charge on the Bucks to sign a players, I would still do the same as Giannis is still on his prime and he is making the Bucks a championship team.

It does not only happen with the Bucks, as team like Miami Heat had signed player that aren't even playing at all. If you still remember Udonis Haslem, he's been with the Heat as part of the roster but we didn't even see him play, but that was before he announced his retiremenet last year.

Udonis Haslem, NBA's oldest player, retires from Heat after 20 seasons

NLEX almost upset the Ginebra tonight during their out of town game.

It was a 4 point win by the Gin Kings, and courtesy to Pringle who resurrected in the 4th quarter to help his team with this good win.
Oveall, it was entertaining game as NLEX were able to play good basketba in the 1st to 3rd quarter, but the 4th q all belong to the Ginebra who outscored the NLEX 26-17.  On the bettors side, this is a big win for NLEX since the handicap was +7.5, and I'm happy to announce that I won. Smiley

Tomorrow, we have 2 games, and I find it interesting.

3:00 PM Converge vs ROS
6:30 PM TNT vs Phoenix.
546  Economy / Economics / Re: If you want to get rich, you have to become immune to the money.......! on: January 12, 2024, 11:57:08 PM
If you want to get rich, then you have to work on it 24/7 and maximize your knowledge and skills so that achieving wealth will be easily realized. Having positive attitude also matters as you won't be highly motivated to your goal if you don't anticipate a bright and positive future ahead of you. And lastly, faith in yourself that you can manage all the risks and survive all of them so you can see yourself in  the end being successful and profitable.
547  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hold than trade. Just don't use leverage, futures. on: January 12, 2024, 10:00:11 PM
Trading is actually more productive and profitable than hodling so we can't hold the people if they really desire to trade. While trading is a lot more profitable than holding, but the risks on it are also bigger than hodling alone.

However, every situation requires the proper method or strategy on what's the best thing to do to end up with significant profits. Either you trade or hold, that depends on how skillful you are to that and that would cater the current market situation, otherwise if you take suicidal in trading, you might end up losing everything you have and regret why you trade earlier without setting a plan fisrt.
548  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Focus on how much you may lose and not only the potential win. on: January 12, 2024, 03:10:46 PM
My focus is on winning but knowing your limit is very important, and must implement it.

The thing is, if you are only focus on how much you may lose, it will only make your gambling activity doll. Why would you focus on how much you lose in the first place when you already know that the amount of money or bankroll you set is the amount you can afford to lose? It just doesn't make sense IMO.

Focus on how much you can win, this should be it, because if you don't have a goal on how much you will win, you will not know when to stop as that will  make you greedy, and because of that, you might end up losing everything since your luck will eventually ran out.
549  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 12, 2024, 01:32:58 PM

This is not good for the Pacers, missing him for 2 weeks might cost them games because Hali is their leader, he manage the plays well as evidence by his high assists on the last few games. There was even a time that his assists was 23, that's how good he is, his first priority to make a play by making his teammates ready.

His leadership creates great impact for the Pacers, allowing his teammates to be involve is really a good sign of leadership, though aside from
that great talent he also good in producing numbers, I mean a good first option for bring basket for the team.

Missing him might really impact the entire rotation of the team, hopefully he will be in full recovery after this rest that provided to him.

2 weeks of resting may be enough for him to recover and to make sure that it won't create more problem with his health.

There's no question with his leadership on the court, and the Indiana Pacers made the right decision for giving him a max contract. Good thing that they have a good standing now, 22-15 currently and number 4 in the East. I'm sure they will not fully struggle even without him, so I'm expecting that his absent could also be positive for the team on trying to figure out how to win without him. I guess I'm gonna keep a record of this team when playing without their best player.

Depends on who they are going to face in the next couple of games when Hali is out (I haven't check the schedule yet). If they faces team like in the .500 and below they might get a gauge on how good they are without Hali and maybe win some games.

But if they faces a strong team, it might be close and they might end up losing.

We can only hope that Hali can be back strong in the next 2 weeks, I haven't seen the reports of his injury, but it's not that season ending and maybe he just need to take that rest on his hamstring.

According to the report shared by the user above, this is his exact condition.

Quote
Tyrese Haliburton is sidelined with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain, confirmed by an MRI, facing a two-week recovery, but there's relief that the injury is not considered serious.

The words "not considered serious." is such a relief. Fans should not worry as they will only miss him for weeks and eventually once he is fully recovered, and will come back to bring some excitement to the fans.

Pacers playing without him might be a little downgrade, but knowing the Pacers, they played well as a team, so they'll surely play hard on their next game and try to earn victory on the road. Later they'll be facing Trae Young and company in Atlanta.
550  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: IMPORTANT! Always check your Seed twice. on: January 11, 2024, 11:52:30 PM
Not just twice, but you should do it a lot of times. Remember if you mistakenly write your seed phrase, even with just a single digit is missing, you will never access your own wallet. So it’s really a must to keep checking the correct spelling or order of your seed phrase so that the contents of your wallet will not be compromised. Otherwise, if you are just too confident that its already fine and you tend to be more lazy than being cautious, then you will also have to pay the price in the long run, that is losing all your coins or funds in your wallet.
551  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: January 11, 2024, 07:47:22 AM

Howard hyping pinoy fans is really creating a noise in social media so it will be great for those big companies to ride with it since for sure this will convert to more ticket sells and help to gain back the interest of pinoy crowd.
Let see what happen next to this since for sure they are monitoring how Howard perform on strong group Philippines.

If a PBA team will sign Howard, I would say it was a bold move. That will make the NBA interesting and will help this declining league to rise up to the competition again. I think games are more fan with imports, and hopefully they'll start eliminating farm teams, because as long as farm teams will stay, they will remain the reason why games aren't as competitive as before they existed.

I took a peak at the games and rounds thread and I would say I'm impressed on how you guys were able to put a massive 100+ bets. Damn, especially for Woodie who came out on top at the last minute. I think I'm a bit interested in joining the next but I'm not sure I like this lots of bets competition, you know. Maybe @LM if I may suggest, how about a biggest winning odds of a parlay bet?
553  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: It will save your capital more than you can imagine on: January 08, 2024, 07:56:28 PM
In trading, we don't just learn how to cut losses but also, we must learn how to accept small profits rather than wanting more.
I'd find out that it was not the problem of most traders about their knowledge and skill, and the use of strategies but what went wrong was our uncontrollable greed. Many traders miss their chance to sell their coins for profit because they think that there is more pump coming unfortunately, with the volatility of the market, often we fail and suffer the consequences.

In fact, our main goal is to earn so we take every chance and position our trade on a profiting price, not just for the sake of saving our capital because in the end, we are still losing.
Greed could sometimes make us more motivated to trade more, but it could also be a an instant way of losing as our emotions tend to be more uncontrollable that is actually a bad move for trading. Most particularly for beginner traders as they often believe that bitcoin price will move upward constantly, not realizing that volatility can hinder that.

Trading is not a get rich quick scheme, hence we should not jump into trading for big profits instantly. If there are small profits on hand, that would be a lot better than to trade and lose it all.
554  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading advice for newbies on: January 08, 2024, 07:24:05 PM
Demo trading before starting the real trading would be very beneficial for a newbie who even didn't know about trading. First he have to learn more things in that trading and then he have to take a better yield profit in order to make its own profit...

Of course, demo trading is useful for beginners, but you don't need to exaggerate its value either. As long as the losses are virtual, the trader will not be able to assess all the risks associated with trading. And only the real loss of his money when trading will force him to take up training again in order to minimize losses and accordingly make a profit.
While it could be considered useful for beginners, but it’s never a compulsory. Some few traders still manage to trade successfully without going through demo trading. Experience has molded them to be more skilled and proficient traders, and of course with patience that is necessary when trading.

Unless real traders won’t experience consistent losses, they will not be forced to deal with trading seriously. Trading is not easy but certainly hard, that’s why if you only trade without long term motivation, it’s better to just quit before you suffer from huge, painful losses.

Sorry mate, I'm going on the opposite team. I just felt that the Lakers will win tonight and will stop their losing streak. They are struggling, a good win here will again boost their confidence. Pretty sure everyone is thinking that Clippers will easily beat the Lakers, but I did back my old Lebron for their team to win straight up.  Smiley
There's no need to apologize and well done on believing the Lakers.  Wink

The Clippers kept it close despite missing so many shots today, going below 40% in FGs, and I was hoping for a potential OT in the fourth when they went on a small run to tie the game.

The Lakers got their well-deserved win after getting those back to back buckets in the final few minutes.

I don't just look at the line up or the capability of the team solely, it's just a matter of personal instinct in selecting a team to bet, and sometimes it gives me some luck. I figure out that the Lakers are struggling while the Clippers are the hottest team, for sure this will make people think that Clippers will win again, but of course, since I like to bet against the public, I just betrayed my emotion and go with my mind, and got more aggressive instead of spread, I took the moneyline.  Grin

Tomorrow I'm gonna bet on the Pacers Moneyline vs the Celtics. (last time they met, indiana lose by 17 points since Pacers were on a b2b game)
556  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: January 08, 2024, 05:24:27 AM

About the total, its 205. IMO, it could go over 205 if DYIP shots will fall, so I think I will go with the over here, Good luck kabayan!

Congratulations. I hope you bet on it if you were doubtful on the "trap" of the SMB line.

Thanks, I didn't have to worry on the total as it was an easy over game. Now, I am into the Ginebra vs Northport game. Currently, the game is tied at 50 after the first half. And I am now more attractive with some specials, I see that Ginebra is at 3.10 for winning 11+ points in this game.

The original spread was -8, so if they'll win, I think they could reach 11 or more, but what I like more is that x3.10 which triples the return of my bet, in case they'll by that margin.

That was suppose to be an easy win, Ginebra had a decent lead more than enough to win 11+ in the game, but they made some mistakes and didn't play much defense. Turns out, a winning bet resulted to a losing bet since Ginebra only won by 10 points. Games like that is pretty much disappointing, when you are already thinking you'll win but in the end it fall short by 1 point.  Sad
557  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: January 08, 2024, 03:57:38 AM
I already gave a hint on what i'll be betting and that's the Clippers. Regardless of the handicap moving by a few points, i'll still take them due to their underwhelming results and the Clippers don't have anyone missing from their lineup.

Even if the Lakers have most of their players ready to play, i'm still confident with the Clippers extending their win streak and covering the spread.

558  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Step you have to take before venturing into the market on: January 07, 2024, 10:58:59 PM
Having the right amount of knowledge will give you an edge in trading. While trading can be of high risk that can let you experience sudden losses, but with knowledge and enhanced trading skills, you will minimize the risk and prevent your funds from instant losing. That’s why being knowledgeable is very crucial when one decides to trade, otherwise he will go trading not knowing what to do and end up trading like gambling.

Where there is no knowledge, a beginner should not jump into trading. Because in reality, one who has not gained something, has nothing to give in the process, and would likely end up like a loser and put all his funds into waste.
559  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you actually think a Bitcoin ETF will be accepted this month? on: January 07, 2024, 09:58:05 PM
It can still be approved but not on this month, let’s see if it will be possible in the last quarter.  But regardless if it’s approved or not, that is not a big issue for me since bitcoin will always be bitcoin even if bitcoin ETF does not exist. The potentials of bitcoin that it will become something very valuable in the future will always be its goal, so even if bitcoin ETF gets disapproved throughout the process, we can still expect that bitcoin will always be at its own best in time.
560  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: As a newbie, be careful of the Bitcoin information you process on: January 07, 2024, 09:28:04 PM
In conclusion, it's very important that we gather enough information by making our own research and also learning from others especially in a community like BTT. let's not be too quick to jumping into conclusion especially in topics that we are not familiar with. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
Well theres a saying a lot of talks out there arent real. If you have found some information its quite natural that tou verified it first cause even the one who said it is even the President of the United States sometimes its not credible or maybe the one that tells that got hacked or whatever. Bitcoin has a lot of resources and you could check it yourself whether the data or info is indeed correct.
DYOR always so you will know it yourself if the information is legit or not. Do not be easily deceived by some articles that talk about bitcoin as you don’t know if the resources are credible or not, or it’s only a made up story so that it can easily attract most especially to those who have no knowledge about bitcoin and are still starting to gain insights about it.

And most importantly, if you want to gain maximum information about bitcoin, trust only bitcointalk. The forum has been here for over a decade, without issues that are thrown against the forum, so it’s most likely that this forum is actually a very reliable source when it comes to bitcoin and the whole crypto space.
