541  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The impactation of Bitcoin halving and my opinion on: May 21, 2024, 04:13:58 PM
So you are the second dude I have heard saying that halving has not big impact on the price of BTC while the adoption have and I do agree with the fact that adoption has bigger impact but I am still confused on the line where you say Halving has minimal impact. As IMHO, halving cause an increment in the ratio of demand and supply, and considering the current situation adoption is increasing day by day due to ETFs.

And as the block reward has been reduced by half lesser BTC will come into the market which will decrease the supply as along the block reward more people are now preferring to hold BTC, and during this holding phase many new people join this holding group and end up losing the wallet's key which do the work of burning here. The point is IMO Halving has good impact as it drives people's emotions towards BTC and thus adoptions changes accordingly. What you think?
Thread has been inactive for a month now and I think this is a right time to reignite the discussion. As per my previous post, to clarify, a bigger movement in bitcoin's price occurs when governments make positive changes, acceptance rises and people approach it in a positive manner. Halving is not directly related to these things. However historically previous halvings have seen massive upstrokes and downstrokes, which was anticipated this year too but did not actually happen.

But looking further, the bull market has come back and the coming months have been indeed topsy turvy with regard to the price. But these are not directly due to halving but major other happenings in the market.
542  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to maximize winning potential and control excessive gambling habits on: May 21, 2024, 04:07:55 PM
All these are good rules to read and hear about.

But does a gambler really care reading advice from others? They started gambling in the first place to make big money and they are unable to achieve it - and the machine to make that money is right in front of them, hence they will never think about bankroll management but only how to acquire more money to wager, be it taking a loan, stealing money or worse.

Hence the wording "maximize winning potential" is wrong. If you want to win maximally, you need to stop betting completely, suck up the losses and move on.
543  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rollbit.com | Crypto's Most Rewarding Casino 👑 on: May 21, 2024, 04:00:18 PM
To minimize losing money due to incorrect analysis, avoid placing only a few matches on the betting list even though the total odds are not large.
Incorrect outcomes are more common than incorrect analysis and that stems from a small luck factor that plays in any chance based game, including sports betting. You cannot have a game of chance without any luck factor at all. So losses are not uncommon in an EV+ game too.

Most gamblers fall into a up/down cycle and eventually make some money but losses often catch up to the wins and they need to identify and stop betting for some time when this happens. No expert sports bettor makes their money entirely from betting. They are often having other hustles or a stable job with promotional content being issued from the casinos they promote and so on.

Hence dont trust the entire "sport bettor = thug life" picture, it is often misinterpreted.
544  Local / India / Re: Since we don't have any traffic here. Why not merge all SA board to one. on: May 20, 2024, 03:22:11 PM
Bangladesh has its own thread and merit distribution is good in that thread itself, but full of spammers.

Pakistan thread has its sources and either of these dont have their own subsections.

So it can be a boon for both of them and us. But I believe politically, we are in disagreement, which I also understand but as for the time being, this can be a solution for the problem at hand.

But in the long term, if this section picks up any momentum, they will need to be separated once again.

Have you talked to any of the neighboring country "de-facto" forum leaders?
545  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often do you win? on: May 20, 2024, 03:15:36 PM
But much more often, win almost every time I gamble and also I lose as the same time, so there is no set aside days for winning or losing it can happen at anytime.
In other words, the losses equilibrate with the wins making the net profit close to zero or a good negative. The casino is always the winner when it comes to EV- games and even in EV+ games you still have to bad luck factor often weighing you down eventually making the casino more profitable.

However consider being the casino and investing in its bankroll, it is a system where you can get the house edge on your side and is profitable in the long run and then you are essentially winning more than losing, sadly no many website allow this feature any more. So build your own casino. Wink
546  Other / Off-topic / Re: Land Based Casinos in the Digital Age on: May 20, 2024, 03:12:07 PM
... those in Macau, Monte Carlo and Vegas.
I think each of then deserves a visit of its own. Grin

The ambience, cuisine, and the architecture of each of the casino cities out in this world have their own taste and its not worth comparing one against another head to head.

I my country there is a "water-based" casino but I haven't been there yet. But I would definitely visit the Vegas one sometime in the future. These are once in a lifetime experience and something you dont forget for the rest of your life.
547  Economy / Economics / Re: Silver/USD is at its highest since 2013 on: May 20, 2024, 03:05:28 PM
Meh, I would rather keep money on Bitcoin and gold, no other precious metal is allowed in my portfolio. Let it rise, not interested in in any of that rise just in case you have not been holding silver all this while, in which case you should sell and dump to get back some profits.

You never know how this rise might change course. It might drop down which would make it a poor choice to buy at the high, it might rise more which is also possible. Metal lovers might have some opinions on the cause but it all ends up with zero correlation.

In case someone reading has never invested in silver, dont start it now. Its the golden rule, dont buy at the top, sell at the top.
548  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 📝[Discussion topic] Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns📝 on: May 20, 2024, 03:01:16 PM
Crazy times and pretty educating on how the value is created etc.
Similar schemes have happened in the past too, with fiat money and traditional stock markets. Pump and dump is a good example of how seemingly fake value is created and then hordes of investors flock in only to lose their money in the dump.

I think the 2016-2018 period belongs to the ICO/ITO/STO/IDO <insert any other Initial blah blah offering in there. Now we have more bullshittery in the names of DeFi and NFT, which has done minimal impact in the long run.

If the forum want to get better traffic....well only admin can say what to do. Grin

Hawala system, obviously illegal in India under PML Act but it runs well and speculations galore, it is commonly used by drug mafias, underworld bosses to run their money.

Whether they use bitcoin, possible but they dont likely use the exchanges that we use. OTC traders exist in different difficult to reach sections of the internet and they are helping such users.

Most of them have hired CAs that are well versed with all these "cat and mouse" chase methods.
551  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The shocking rate of women interested in gambling. on: May 19, 2024, 04:14:24 AM
Much of the women join in because of some sort of trauma and the games are a fun way to escape from that. Usually some sort of mental situation is there and correction or treatment of that is never done but people to side track it to other things in an attempt to solve it. The same mechanism is true for drug and alcohol addiction.

There are also many women who just visit casinos to pick up "jacks" or dates in better language so they can have some sugar daddies to pay for their bills. All these problems arise with lack of purpose and discipline in life as to what they want to be in future or poor life choices.

The casino industry found out long back that this could be monetized on and hence they run well.
552  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are crash games profitable??? on: May 19, 2024, 04:04:46 AM
How can i depend of things controlled by the house, how do anyone think the house would let them get the upper hand they'll just manipulate your winning on first trial to lure you into staking more money and before you know it, you've lost it all. I'll rather gamble on sports betting that could give one 50-60% chances of winning if you got a good strategy and good knowledge about different teams.
The house does not manipulate the winnings. That would be a grave accusation to make. All the legit sites like Bustabit have a verification system to verify that your rolls were not rigged. Of course trains of green and trains of red outcomes are possible in crash games and nobody can do anything about it.

It is not uncommon to see a 1x Red train on bustabit happen every day at some unlucky hour. This is just math, no rigging is involved.

Indeed sports betting requires some skills but the small luck factor is still there. Just make sure to trust your skills and if you lose, just move on with it.
553  Economy / Economics / Re: How safe is it to keep your money and gold underground? on: May 19, 2024, 03:58:57 AM
I would rather keep the valuables in a bank rather than down in the ground. But I have seen similar practices among many older people, more in the rural compared to the urban public.

This is dangerous of course, because anybody getting a hint of the same can attempt to rob that money. Houses may break down in natural calamities and that would make the valuables almost unextractable.

Most of these can be avoided by using banks because they are available close nowadays which was not the case during the times of our grandparents.
554  Economy / Economics / Re: Hyperinflation - Will it lead Countries to Adopt Bitcoin? on: May 19, 2024, 03:54:26 AM
The question is whether the hyperinflation is caused by some correctable factors which bitcoin can help in or not?

Bitcoin will not always solve hyperinflation, the condition of El Salvador should not be used to draw conclusions, South American countries are well known with inflation, bad living conditions and poverty that have sustained due to corruption, governments and many more reasons.

If they do adopt bitcoin, they should have a roadmap of how to solve the problem using bitcoin, which most governments would fail at.
555  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is bitcoin mining just completely not profitable for retail? on: May 19, 2024, 03:47:21 AM
It more profitable to just buy bitcoin whenever the prices go down instead of buying ASICs to mine bitcoin. As you have correctly pointed out, the chance of getting the money back of what you put in to get the farm set up and the breaking even point are going to be far off. Till then you would have to sustain the costs and hope that additional costs dont come up.

If you observe the mining channels on youtube, they promote a certain altcoin for sometime and then move to another one. This is in sync with the coins that are having the best profit for that period. ASICs built for that algorithm might be a complete waste for you in case the price drops and you have just started mining it.
556  Economy / Economics / Re: Ever dreamt of turning your passion into profit? on: May 18, 2024, 10:30:01 AM
People often have hobbies that they are passionate about. Whet they dont have is the businessman mindset that allows them to monetize that hobby. A stamp collector might have many stamps but is unable to pitch them to other collectors to sell.

A game reviewer might be a great writer but does not want to make the blog to publish those reviews.

So the risk taking behavior needs to be there to start it off. Along with that if they are financially stable, there might be more chances that they can bring it fruition.

560  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Before Trading Bitcoin you should... on: May 17, 2024, 03:06:50 PM
I have read about people who invested their life savings into trading or crypto. Dont know how far these type of threads are true, but assuming they are, it is something I would never suggest anyone to.

Any investment is a risk-filled venture. There must be a good distribution of the risk, high risk assets in low number, low risk assets in high number to keep the total risk at a manageable level. Putting your life savings in one asset means putting a high risk asset in large number which is equivalent to suicide.

Another one is that job quitting to trade bitcoin, again a foolish thing to do because your job is a somewhat stable source of income. But trading is never so.
I think this type of narratives are more commonly done by people who are promoting exchanges and just want their cut as a referrer.
