541  Economy / Speculation / Re: what will happen to the price of bitcoin? on: June 21, 2017, 05:48:43 PM
from cryptonews yesterday I find out that there is going to be activation of segwit2x in bitcoin to allow faster transaction and this is agreed by okcoin, bitmain and huobi, what do you think will happen to price of bitcoin?

I believe no one is 100% certain about what will happen to Bitcoin's price. As to what I believe, before we head to that date, around August, we might see some declines due to the people who are panic selling. They might be scared of what will happen on the activation of segwit so they tend to cash-out in order to avoid possible loss if the price crashes.
542  Economy / Speculation / Re: India to legalize bitcoin on: June 21, 2017, 05:44:23 PM

This is a great news. But I did not find the date when will the legalization be formal. It seems more and more country are having strong trust to Bitcoin. First we have Japan, second is Australia, third is India, how about the fourth? The world maybe? Grin I feel OP's excitement and I should probably buckle up and wait for the blast-off. Roll Eyes
543  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sell Bitcoin ahead of 1st Aug Hard Fork on: June 21, 2017, 05:25:04 PM
Hi everyone,

I have recently sold a large part of my BTC  portfolio as I was spooked by a various sources telling me that BTC was heading for plummeting prices  following 1st Aug and hard fork.  They have also said that  July will be incredibly unstable in terms of price as we approach the deadline.  I a now sitting on cash and waiting for the best time t go back into BTC

Given that the price of BTC has risen every day this week and feeling that I sold unnecessarily and am considering buying back in.  can you feedback to me.

1) Is the 1st Aug really going to be that bad and should we expect volatility in July as we approach the date?
2)  Would you buy back in now or wait sitting on cash for a better price entry point in the coming weeks?

Thanks all

Matt

To think that you confidently sold a large percentage of your Bitcoin because of some rumors and now that you observed the slow recovery of Bitcoin, you are asking for a feedback or advise if you should buy back. Act firm on your decision and decide based from yourself and not of others.

The August 1 thing is still uncertain and no one really knows if it will be good or bad. Volatility is there every minute.
544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN IS WHERE INVESTORS WANT TO BE on: June 21, 2017, 04:57:19 PM
The title seems to mean that the investors are controlling the price of Bitcoin Grin

Nonetheless, I agree that Bitcoin is where the investors wants it to be. Most investors (if not all) wants the price of Bitcoin to increase tremendously and based from the current price of Bitcoin, it is on the right spot. These investors, just like Liew, are big time investors and constantly monitoring the trend of Bitcoin cent by cent. That's why they can predict Bitcoin's price with high probability and they can decide correctly with every decision they make in relation to Bitcoin.
545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CrowdSale Live]🌟🌟🌟🌟 NVO Decentralized Exchange | Multi Wallet 🌟🌟🌟🌟 on: June 20, 2017, 05:28:56 PM
How is the value of ICO deposits calculated? For instance if I buy 200 LTC worth today, will it go by USD value at the end of the crowdsale or at the time it is deposited?

I was thinking about the same thing and didnt got any answer regarding it. Will be joining the slack soon and will be discussing this. In the meantime, promoting NVO more on Twitter.

This was answered by nemgun earlier. See for yourself:
How is the value of ICO deposits calculated? For instance if I buy 200 LTC worth today, will it go by USD value at the end of the crowdsale or at the time it is deposited?

The calculation will be done at the end of the crowdsale timer.

546  Economy / Economics / Re: Will UASF affect Bitcoin ? on: June 20, 2017, 04:53:19 PM
If soft fork happens successfully, then price willl rise , if not , btc price will fall hardly .
It's a gamble

What do you think ?

UASF will definitely affect Bitcoin since every event in Bitcoin plays a role that significantly affect Bitcoin directly or indirectly. So the question here is what will be the effect. As to what you've claimed in the OP, there are only 2 possible destination of Bitcoin after the UASF and that is up and down. We cannot be certain of what will be the effect of the upcoming UASF, whether it makes Bitcoin's price soar or drop, let us just hope that the end result will benefit Bitcoin as a whole.
547  Economy / Economics / Re: Are cryptocurrencies better than regular currency on: June 20, 2017, 04:42:21 PM
I believe that cryptocurrency is better than fiat currency if cryptocurrency behaves like a currency and not like an investment. If a cryptocurrency is stable like fiat, can have an instant transaction, without (or almost without) transaction fee, and very practical for a daily basis usage then that cryptocurrency is better that our regular currency.
548  Economy / Economics / Re: So, you want to be rich? All of you ? on: June 20, 2017, 04:32:50 PM
Just imagine. If ALL OF US would be rich, that means we would live our lives out from dividends, or any passive income of at least $1k a month. Then it would be jawesome, right ? Well, but then I do have a question.
WHO on this Earth would bake the bread for ALL OF US ?
Robots, you might say?
OK, nice idea.
But then, WHO on Earth would maintenance these robots ?
Another robots ?
I don't think so.
Even if so, even if there would be a Skynet of robots, who would not just bake the bread, but also harvest the grains, transport it, deliver to our doors. What then ?
We could eat for free, as much as you want?
Cool, but what about overweight then.
Doctor? But hey wait, NO ONE on this Earth work, so we have no doctors.
OK, we have Doctor Robots.
Who would teach our kids? Robots! Who would change the diapres? Robot!
Even if humans would master all this, we would need to have all the knowledge to teach our robots to work for us. To be slaves for us. (no minds, just pure robotic hands/arms and so on, Tesla's and autopilots)
But even then, there is one huge problem.
I do not want to touch any country, or race, or group of people, but imagine, if you put infinite amount of resources to any kind of animal (including humans), they would reproduce themselves to infinite. Because they simply can. Because parents do not need to parent their kids anymore, because we have robots! So we would need a limit of reproducing, no right to reproduce as much as you can handle (infinite resources), because we would simple have like 50-100billion people on this planet, and there would be no robots who could grow so much grains to bake bread. (perhaps hyper dense pills could be the away).
So, back to the original question, why do people believe, they all can be rich ?
It was, is, and will be, ALWAYS about that who is going to earn more, not enough, but more than the others.
Why?
If there is only one mansion on the Bahamas, which is large enough, sunny enough, sexy enough, there is no freaking way, ALL OF US could buy it. Just one. 1. One. And if only 10 buyers come with their million, to who would seller sell this mansion to? First ? But second also have million and ALL OF US want to be rich (own that one mansion). So second would have to offer 2 million, right?
Wrong.
No one would want to sell such mansion in the first place, as he is already rich. We all are.

This one is full of exaggeration, sarcasm, and, most of all, fantasy. Better look at the reality first before giving an exaggerated point of view. Though everyone wants to be rich, in reality, not everyone will become rich. If someone believes that he/she can become rich, then he/she can but will he/she become rich, well that is uncertain.
549  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SAUDI Bitcoin Trading on LocalBitcoins TO THE MOON on: June 20, 2017, 04:15:57 PM
Bitcoin trading volumes in Saudi Arabia via peer-to-peer trading platform LocalBitcoins have never been higher. For the first time, trading volumes topped USD $100k in bitcoin traded over a week through the decentralized platform. According to data from Coin.Dance, trading volumes last week soared nearly 3x compared to the previous week, with over SAR400,000 in bitcoin traded during the week ending on April 15, a new all-time high.

More details below:

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/saudi-bitcoin-localbitcoins-all-time-high/

Do you agree that Bitcoin will become popular in the Middle East soon?

With this attitude of acceptance, Saudi will definitely lead the Middle Eastern countries into engaging in Bitcoin. Neighboring countries sometimes copy one another (economical strategies and alike) because of a foreseeable great benefit. So if Saudi began engaging in Bitcoin and earned wonderful benefits from it, there will be no doubts about its neighbor countries to also engage in Bitcoin.
550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin ending up like Yahoo in the future? on: June 20, 2017, 03:45:20 PM
Yahoo was the first (?) search engine at the time when Internet started.  It was the pioneer in its field.  In the late 90's its market cap reached to a high closed to $120B.   Three and a half years after Yahoo started, Google came out and gradually took away market share from Yahoo.

After 22 years, Verizon bought it for $4.8B.  Would Bitcoin ending up like Yahoo in the future and got beat up by new competitions?

What do you think?  Please provide your reason(s) to support your view.

Being greater than the original or the old ones does not mean that the great will takeover or surpass the old one. There are several factors observed here and being great alone will not dictate that you are worthy to become the number one. In the field of cryptocurrency, the user decides who will become number one. Many are still supporting Bitcoin over any other cryptocurrency. Bitcoin just have to sustain and nurture the support from users.
551  Economy / Speculation / Re: How Does Bitcoin Gain/Lose Value? on: June 19, 2017, 06:36:26 PM
Hey all

This has been a question bugging my head for a while now, and with the $3k mark that we recently hit and the drop to $2.5k.

How does BTC gain or lose value? And how does BTC 'pop', like lose 500 USD worth over a day?

The price of Bitcoin resides on the demand and supply. As based from the law of supply and demand, if the demand is high/low with respect to the total supply available in the market, then the price will increase/decrease respectively. So the current decline we are seeing these past days may be due to some people selling their coins just to get some profits.

Let us put it this way,

Price increase:
You want to buy............................+Demand
You bought some coins... ...............-Supply
I want to buy................................+Demand
I bought some coins.......................-Supply

Price decrease:
You sold some coins.......................+Supply (Constant Demand)
I sold some coins...........................+Supply (Constant Demand)
552  Economy / Speculation / Re: How long will it be until the bitcoin price to usd starting decreasing? on: June 19, 2017, 06:28:17 PM
What I mean was how long will bitcoin keep going up in price of USD which is United States Dollars. I was wondering since it seems to be going up like the stock market once was. When something is going good, there is always a bad side to it

Bitcoin will continue to go up (in price) as long as there are people who demands Bitcoin in contrast with the available supply in the market. Bitcoin is volatile and its price frequently increasing and decreasing (good and bad side respectively? It depends on your POV).

Maybe grab the correct chart first...
It's been declining all week...

I think you are the one who needs to grab the correct chart. You're just seeing the decline in price and neglecting the incline.
553  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Wallet on: June 19, 2017, 05:58:48 PM
Which is the most used? Any ideas? Desktop and Mobile.

I believe that the most Bitcoin wallet being used is a mobile one. This is because mobile is much more portable than desktop. Well there are laptops out there that are highly portable but mobiles are far too portable that laptops. We can even fit a phone inside a pocket so a mobile wallet is more practical as a Bitcoin wallet that desktop wallets.
554  Economy / Economics / Re: could bitcoin be replaced by another crypto currency? on: June 19, 2017, 05:55:23 PM
i do this question because i´ve read in this website issues with bitcoin, slow mining process, high fees, etc. and i´ve read too good reviews of some altcoins, ethereum (smart contracts), ripple (for transfers between banks), dash and nem. these altcoins called 2.0. could bitcoin become just in future virtual gold reserved to companies and rich people?

It is possible that Bitcoin will be surpassed by another cryptocurrency but it is not highly possible. There are some issues regarding the use of Bitcoin but I believe that some actions are being made at this very moment. Would the Bitcoin developers want to see another cryptocurrency replace Bitcoin? No, so they will resolve the issue.
555  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's still really hard to use bitcoin as a regular currency on: June 19, 2017, 05:15:14 PM
This is the major reason why some people are seeing Bitcoin as an investment more than as a currency. The transaction fees are mainly the major reason why others does not use Bitcoin to purchase a good or a service. Bitcoin is so valuable now and even losing some mBTC for a fee would make some people feel disappointed.

This interaction proved to me that the bitcoin network is very supportive of one another.
This one, on the other hand, would make you feel delighted.  Cheesy
556  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BItcoin needs to die on: June 19, 2017, 05:05:47 PM
What use is Bitcoin if in 9 years you cant even buy groceries with this shit

You cant build a business on bitcoin because of the volatility and even if you try to runa business on bitcoin you have to wait forever for a transaction to be sent

whats the point of bitcoin, if you cant do anything with this shit?

If that is the case then you are free to leave. If Bitcoin is really a shit then why did you join a twitter campaign that pays in Bitcoin and they even paid you earlier today. Proof:
thanks for payout

Also, if Bitcoin is a shit then why do you have a Bitcoin address on your profile? Your address : 1LtvYXMfVU2nbE3hvpzB58mrEoeYb6gb8u

So are you still gonna call Bitcoin a shit? Or maybe you are the one who's a shit around here?
557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what was your first incoming transaction? on: June 19, 2017, 04:37:49 PM
Well mine was 2 months from now. The first Bitcoin I got is from a signature campaign in this very forum. It was from concoin. I got 0.006 BTC from them. Yes I am still young in this environment and it feels like a little late because I can only earn a few amount. I also received concoins but never converted them to Bitcoin.
558  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can anybody guide me to free satoshi? on: June 19, 2017, 04:28:58 PM
Hi i'm new!

I want to search for satoshi for free but do not know how to make a lot of money.

anybody help
thanks

Welcome!

There are free Satoshis from different faucets and you can see the link from the first reply on this thread. However, accumulating Satoshis from faucets is somewhat a waste of time since you can accumulate only few. If you really want to make a lot of money, sticking to faucet is a big no. Why don't you join some signature campaigns here in the forum. They will surely give you larger amount compared to faucets.
559  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: August 1 needs to be today... on: June 19, 2017, 04:24:58 PM
We cannot rush things just because other are switching to some alternatives. August shall be a major milestone for Bitcoin and a thorough preparations are needed. So if some people gets out of board and boarded a boat, sooner or later they will abandon that boat and gets back to the mother ship. Diversifying is not bad and some recommend it but it shall be all up to you yourself.
560  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Not Garbage, Embrace It on: June 19, 2017, 04:14:25 PM

I've read the article from the link but not the other one that states Bitcoin is a garbage. I see no point about reading a garbage article in the first place so why will I even bother. The main article is factual but does not have new information at all. Well to a person who is new about cryptocurrency and Bitcoin, the article would serve as an enlightenment.
