I think the price will rise gradually after that. Slow transaction and high transaction fees are the biggest disadvantages of Bitcoin. With solving these problems the demand for buying bitcoins will increase. As a result the price will rise. What will happen to Bitcoin can cause big profit for owners.

Already,even with slow transactions,bitcoin price is triggering.If bitcoin transactions become faster due to such activation,surely bitcoin price would go high in rocket speed.More companies would come forward to accept bitcoin payments which would increase huge demand for bitcoins.

As long as bitmain is involved and threatening investors about what their plans are,lets wait and see what will happen with it,i really do not like their business plan or proposals as all they want is to make money,which i am not against but they just want to make money and change the protocol without doing any intense testing .Technical amateur but financially sound.

I already read this news from other forum site and this is a good new to everyone, I think the price of Bitcoin will surely go high I hope this news is true because is good to know to allow faster transaction and more companies will surely allow to accept Bitcoin. But in the end no one will know what will happen to the price of Bitcoin.

It's really hard to predict the impact of any event on Bitcoin's price. Sometimes people expect that Bitcoin will rise because of some political or economical disaster, and it's not happening, sometimes Bitcoin's price increases without any big reason and people start making some explanations. There are many possible scenarios for activation of segwit2x - maybe it will trigger the new bull run and we'll reach $4000, maybe it will just be a small bump, or maybe some other events will overshadow it and the price will go down.

since it has the majority of miners (hash power) support
and also majority of users (full nodes) are supporting SegWit

if we don't get any drama and shenanigans i think we are looking at a smooth fork with nothing to worry about specially since the hash power behind the fork will be >95% of total.

and without drama price will just continue to rise specially since we have had the good correction recently.

If this is finally implemented, the threat of a split in the network fades away, fees go slow and transactions are fast again we could see a rise in the price, easy going above $3000 and maybe reaching $3500.

I do agree if the things OP mentioned happen there will be a big profit for bitcoin holders. The biggest disadvantage with bitcoin now a days transaction charge and confirmation time once it is solved there will be a big boom.

you just see a smaller fee in altcoins because first of all their prices are too low so any amount of fee is small, like 1 whole unit of some of them (which is the transaction fee of it) is worth 10 to 100 satoshi and since their mining rewards are huge (hence creating a massive supply and kills the price and the future of the coin) no miner cares about fees.

also it is because nobody uses them. so there are no transactions on many of their chains. again you can not compare two things when they are not used equally!

Bitcoin will experience a massive boost at the time the activation gets really initiated, but for that to happen, we need to see miners reach 80% support for 672 blocks straight (both divided over 2 straight periods of 336 blocks each). Overall, it's good news, but the market has calmly reacted as people are still somewhat conservative to how everything will play out. If an activation becomes reality, I am sure that we'll blast through the $3000 barrier without any problems.

Yup the volume of the bitcoin is always high compared to altcoins. But bitcoin is facing late confirmation and high transaction fee problem it may be going to solve now. Once it gets solved then again, people will start to use bitcoins. I am also waiting for this segwitx2 once it happens maybe we see a huge variation in bitcoin price it may cross $3k.

I am waiting to see how the price of bitcoin will react in the coming weeks and i think we could see some people dumping the coins because of the uncertainty we have right now and i expect a gradual recover after everything is resolved.
