good thing theres more talk about isis in the german media again, i really hope the EU will take an aggressive stance against isis and force other nations to do the same.

5402  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Firearms company cuts ties with Liam Neeson over gun-control comment on: January 20, 2015, 02:35:15 PM
Never will I understand the logic of people who think it is better to deliberately render yourself completely defenceless against armed psychopaths, they're psychopaths, they don't care if you have a gun or not, they're still going to try and murder you one way or another and it doesn't matter if you put up a gun free sign or not.

but if the psycho gets a gun it is much easier for him to do so.

aslong as weapon control laws can secure that no criminal and mentally ill people get guns im all for it - but sadly it is not the case in most countries.

For shits and giggles let's say tomorrow we get 2 announcements, one that the Bitlicense is ready (and it looks good), and the other that the ETF is officially approved. Speculate on the madness that ensues.  Tongue

So mein bisheriger Eindruck.

There are bulltards who bought 100(or more) btc at $10(or less) (invested $1,000) and sold 2 btc at $1,000 ($1,000 profit). Keep posting memes. (98 btc left) and we are buying more.

The difference is:
In the past you could accumulate with 10k $ a lot off a limited supply (bitcoin) -> wait for the pump and dump!
Today this is not possible, because you need a shitload off bagholders to push the price to the moon.

But yeah, some early adopters still try to push the price, because some were to stupid to ever lockin some profits and get out partially.

In the past bitcoin was worth nothing $0.001, $0.01, $0,1 ... $1 ... and so on. I have first bought at $12.5 b/c I believe bitcoin will be worth $50k( and more).

I'd say infinite.

I wonder what it would be @ when 0.5% of internet users want a coin but can only get 0.14357750366891372239957301007592 if they all got a piece of one

total btc supply / (2014 internet users * 0.05)
21000000 / 146 262 467.75 = 0.14357750366891372239957301007592

this number cant be right

/edit its 1.4 btc :9

2,925,249,355 x 0.05 = 146,262,467.75

21,000,000 btc / 146,262,467.75 people = 0.143578

thats 5% Smiley

oh btw the numbers of people with internet access was around ~3 billion that is just ~40% of mankind.
~2 billion are from developing nations.

5408  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pope on Charlie Hebdo: There are limits to free expression on: January 16, 2015, 09:11:44 PM
There are consequences to free expression, not limits...

If by consequences you mean violence, there is no justification for it. There is never justification to initiate violence.

False on many different levels. Unless your definition of violence requires "malicious intent", then it's true. However, I'm interpreting the context of violence in your post as meaning physical force. Never say never...

1. A threat is one form of expression which justifies the initiation of violence, when the issuer of that threat has the ability, means, and opportunity to carry out that threat in the moment it's issued. The recipient of that threat doesn't have any duty or obligation to wait for the threat to materialize before eliminating that threat by force.
2. Mental abuse has been shown to cause irreparable psychological damage, therefore when a person is being mentally abused, they have the right to initiate violence whenever violence is the most reasonable way to stop that damaging form of abuse; unlike a physical assault, they most likely have the opportunity to retreat, but if retreat is not possible, violence is justified to stop any form of damaging abuse.

Consequences do not mean violence in my post however, consequences represent any form of reaction. When people use expression without consideration of the likely reaction, they open themselves up to retaliation and sometimes get more than they expected. Without consideration, expression can be a dangerous personal liability.

I like your explanation.

But would that help?
Free speech but everyone has to live up to the consequences? Not sure if that works because it kinda sounds like an eye for an eye and the whole world would be blind

The truth is I have no idea. But for purposes of the trial, whether I believe it is actually Mark Karpeles or not, isn't relevant. The defense is doing an excellent job of introducing reasonable doubt.

Keep in mind, the defense didn't mention Mark Karpeles in their opening statement. Dratel was able to get all this information out of the government's own witness on cross-examination. The government's own witness thought Karpeles was the invisible hand behind silk road, and that ashley barr was dpr.

Dratel asked Agent DerYaghiayan about information they had subpoenaed from Dwolla, and whether Ulbricht and Karpeles had moved money. Ulbricht had moved a few thousand dollars over 2 years. On the other hand, there was a firehose of money coming from Mt. Gox through Dwolla. Mutem Sigellum (Karepeles' holding company) had a transaction list 1000 pages long.

jeez, mark was actually way smarter then everyone though  Shocked

maybe this reaction because they know there will be trouble in the eurozone coming up?
5412  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pope on Charlie Hebdo: There are limits to free expression on: January 16, 2015, 06:58:32 AM
a though i want to add to this discussion because im agreeing that there are limits to freedom of expression.

in germany (and i believe in most western civilizations) there are laws against mobbing.
this problem started mainly in schools and social networks, but it is part of the whole society.

what we have now with charlie hebdo is in my opinion "mobbing" on just a much greater scale.

human rights - and freedom with it - is the most important archievement of mankind, but there exist a limit and it is reached when we are limiting the freedom/rights of others.

so the question is can we limit the freedom/human rights of others by just expressing what we want?
i think yes, a human being or group that gets mobbed/insulted/harassed/discrimated against by speech is not equal in the sense of human rights.

but i also would agree saying "you asshole" would probaly not be a case of that...

5413  Economy / Speculation / Re: Did you make money from the falling bitcoin price yesterday on: January 16, 2015, 06:15:48 AM
Yesterday was a huge day for traders, with many making a lot of money by going short on the bitcoin price and the leveraging to maximise their profits.

We saw a spike in trade volume on the Coinarch website.

What exchanges allow shorting?

btc-e has MetaTrader allowing 3x leverage + shorting. Heck you can even run bots on it.

bitfinex also supposedly allows leveraging up to 10x.

3.3:1 on BFX. Shorting makes money fast, but it can also backfire. I advise anyone in this thread asking "How does that work?" to do some research before playing around with leveraged margin trading. You can make profits 3x as fast but you can also lose 3x as fast. Learn it before you try.

this is a really important one if you wanna trade with leverage Smiley
you should always have a price point for a stop loss.
