@mods keeping an eye on this topic, any chance to delete/lock/archive [ANN] Anonyme 🌟 An Autonomous Interest Rate Protocol for breaking forum rules (incentivizing posting in exchange for tokens)?

@masulum provided proof of that. I just checked and that same airdrop requirement is still there and spam doesn't stop.

Both of us reported that thread for breaking forum rules, but for some reason it's still there, and report is unhandled, despite the fact that more than 300 spam posts have been deleted just today on that thread. Here is how that looks like https://loyce.club/archive/details/topic_5288431.html
Wouldn't it be much easier to simply lock or delete the thread instead deleting hundreds of posts when OP of that ANN is breaking forum rules on purpose as he didn't stop when warned by @masulum that what he is doing is wrong?

5402  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question about crypto profit on: November 13, 2020, 01:52:20 PM

I don't get it, why would people would invest in BTC now? current price is $16K but people still invest in it.

even if it reaches imaginary price of $32K people would get just +100% of what they've risked while you can invest in altcoins and MAYBE get easily 10x-100x on your risked amount...

If you think that 100% is not a good profit then you don't know much about investing and economy in general. If you are going for 100X profit by investing in some shitcoin you are basically gambling with your money, as that's what it is. And if you like to gamble, then better head to casino ,at least you will know immediately whether you win or loose, instead waiting for month or in some cases even years for some shitcoin to "moon". But if you want something more solid, bitcoin is way to go.

Regarding your question why people still buy when price is 16K+, answer  is simple: because it will go up more and it is still not too late to join, no matter what someone told you.

I had to cleanse some data in order to obtain some of the required information (only in relation to pinned threads):

This should be the Merit score for those pinned threads. I’ve provided the historical total, and that of the last 3 months.
Thanks, this is exactly what I needed!

I do not have the post count though, to derive the merit/post. Normally I archieve the data pages I need at regular intervals, manually tabulate the data, and set the difference as the Net number of posts created in a month. Nevertheless, I’m not tracking post count at thread level, so you’d either need to do in manually (which shouldn’t take too long), or see if someone is willing to perform regular scrapes/counts.
No worries about post count part, I can do that manually , and then calculate the ratio. You helped with the trickiest part.

If the Post count is low for those threads, the Merit/post ratio will be a "weak" indicator really.
True, that's why I usually mention that ratio can be very misleading and can vary greatly from month to month. Even boards with high activity can be affected with that, as seen from all those previous months charts.

I updated October charts with 4 communities without local boards: Pakistan, Bangladesh, Serbian and Nigerian (they are marked with *). Charts updated are Post, Merit and Merit/Post for now. 4th one, chart of Merit senders/receivers is a bit tricky to get without external assistance, so I've decided to skip that one for now, but might add that in the future.

Regarding communities added, those seemed like a most active ones  and I didn't want to clutter the charts with all communities as some of them have only few posts per month, and sometimes not even that. Someone may argue why some of the local boards are there despite having similar scenario (Hebrew, Japanese. Skandinavsk etc) but my first goal was to make  overview of local boards, and those are local boards.

[ANN] Anonyme - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5288431.0

A lot of paid shills are popping up these days. They're probably scammers too. As masulum reported, they offer a reward to their zombie followers for writing "positive comments" in their ANN topic.

Damn, they managed to churn out more than 200 posts today when you look at https://loyce.club/archive/topics/528/5288431.html. Since Anonyme decided to give tokens in exchange for comments on the ANN as part of the bounty campaign, I won't add them to this list. Instead, I will report them (I don't know whether @Masulum already did that) to the mods for breaking one of the forum rules. Based on previous experience ANN will be either completely deleted or sent to Archive.

Most giveaway threads are no longer allowed in the Alternate cryptocurrencies sections. From now on, posting or replying to such threads could result in being banned. Existing threads will be locked.

Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.

And yeah, I agree this looks like  just another anonymous staking/lending platform that will perform one of those "rug pulls" at the right time. Scenario we've seen often lately.
5406  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: November 12, 2020, 06:11:20 PM
English seems to be a major hurdle for us, but we have at least 22 official languages spoken in various parts of country and if we try to create topics in each and every language it would mess up the whole board making them unreadable. This is why we are using English on the main boards.
Yeah that makes sense, to use English that most people understand anyway, otherwise it would be complete mess, to make specific child board for each of the languages. Here in Europe we sometimes forget how big countries like India and China are, and how many different languages people are using.

I know about issued an average bitcoiner in India has and that government is pressing you hard for years. Hopefully that changes as India is huge market and both people in your country and bitcoin itself would benefit from your government being more open to this whole idea.

Check this topic to know more about the current situation of our board : WTF! with this board?
I will, and thank you for detailed answer about situation in your local board, as I am interested in those since I see them as an important and often overlooked part of the bitcointalk forum.

Cheers!

@Rikafip Is it possible to provide similar charts for pinned topics under Other languages/locations ?
As a matter of fact, I've been planning for some time to include few most active communities from Other Languages board, as a kind of support for those languages without local board, but for some reason I kept postponing it, but I am gonna change that now and I'll try to update October chart with few most actives ones (Pakistan, Bangladesh, Serbian and Vietnamese) in the next few days, probably by the end of this week.

While I can easily count posts written in some specific timeframe manually, and merit shared for posts written in that period, one thing I can't do manually is to check whether someone merited post written in let's say June 2019, but he merited it during October 2020. It should be included in October chart, but I simply can't find something like that manually.

I asked assistance in that regard, and if that is not possible, I will at least count posts and merit shared for posts written in that period. That is best I can do manually, for now.

ideaology - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5285038.0

Add them to your list. tons of new accounts popping up.
You are right, Ideaology indeed hired bumping service. Bunch of newbie accounts created years ago suddenly appears and started shilling the thread with those fake conversations. As usual, I've decided to check their post history to see whether they are working on some other project too, and it was no surrprise that they are doing the same thing for another ANN, [ANN] Totem - platform for trading of DeFi and derivatives. That is some dodgy DeFi project with anonymous team, as always. I'll have to look into both of these to see whether I can find some more dirt. Where there's smoke, there's fire.

List has been updated with both of those names.

They both applied for Duelbits signature campaign so he tried to cheat.

It's sketchy but what you've done is essentially jump the gun, and accused them before they've committed the crime.
I'm not so sure that it's only cheating if he got accepted. Intention is important too, and he had intention to cheat, but it just didn't work that time. Anyway, he is in  Poolz signature campaign with both accounts.

5409  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: November 12, 2020, 09:21:08 AM

Merit/Post ratio u periodu 01.10-31.10

5410  Other / Meta / Re: Image issue with bitcointalk and imgur. on: November 12, 2020, 07:44:06 AM
Idk why but something like this always happened to me. I'm dummy at technical stuff, but somehow found a way to solve it Cheesy Cheesy

There is a much easier way for you to share images uploaded via imgur. Click on the "Options" (those three little dots) button next to "Copy Link" and then click on "Get Share Links". There will be a few options but for forum use you need to copy this as seen in the screenshot below.

Another thing I noticed you do; when you are resizing images you don't need to change both width and height, changing one of them is enough and the other will adjust automatically keeping the same ratio.
5411  Other / Meta / Re: Report flagged as bad by mistake? on: November 12, 2020, 06:13:35 AM
Indeed... But, as I explained above, the topic has some history already and we thought it would be nice to keep it, if we report the posts not following the format and, of course, if the mods collaborate with us, as they did until now..[-
Yeah I understand it has sentimental value for you since thread has been going on for some time and you are active there, but these things will keep happening, people not following the rules then you have to hassle with reports  and as we can see occasionally it will be marked as bad. But I guess you will have to live with it if you wanna keep the thread.

I can't find the post in question anymore on the thread, but checking the profile on bpip there seems to be no post of the user deleted by the mods, so it's likely that they deleted the posts themselves.

What is the current status of your report?
Report is marked as "Good" so that means mods deleted it, from the 2nd try, but at least post is gone now.

Kinda wish theymos would implement something where you can sticky a message in the first post of every thread or the first post is there at the top like is on some forums as a reminder. Would help to keep things on topic and not let them stray too far off topic.
Something like that would be good to have. It wouldn't completely sort similar issues as people sometimes just don't care what's are the rules and they are just there to dump their post and move on, but it would be help nevertheless.
5412  Other / Meta / Re: Irfan_pak10's Merit source RE-application on: November 11, 2020, 09:44:09 PM
If he is doing it for a charity cause then why do you have the urge to return the favor so much that you are giving merits on topic where you don't even understand the language?
Why on earth would sending merit to pretty decent post about advertising bitcointalk charity programs via signature campaign would be misuse of merit system just because he doesn't speak German? If you didn't know, there is something called Google translate which works pretty well. It is pretty much common thing in local boards to receive merit from other merit sources outside that local, even though they don't speak the language as they are probably using Google translate or some other tool when they stumble upon something that looks like a good post.

Seriously people, don't you check the trust ratings of the person you doing business with? This is what  @sandy-is-fine left on him, it cant be more self-explanatory than that. If you can't afford escrow, at least trade with reputable people only, otherwise you are basically asking to be scammed and it will happen sooner or later.

I am going to tag him too, but what you should do is raise Flag Type 2 against him (if you don't know how, ask). That one is a bit more visible than negative feedback and might save some newbie from making the same mistake like you two did.
5414  Other / Meta / Re: Report flagged as bad by mistake? on: November 11, 2020, 05:00:11 PM

On second thought:
I reported this post as it does not the rule stated in OP:

I don't think not following the exact format makes it off-topic. If OP wanted that, he could have made the thread self-moderated.
I'd let it go, then again, I barely visit the Off-topic board anyway.
Thing is, @GazetaBitcoin stated  that he previously reported similar posts that were not following the format, and all those posts were deleted so far. That's why he assumed this was a mistake, not deleting it even though it obviously doesn't follow the format.

I reported the post too, lets see what happens.

Imho, since Movie thread is in Off-Topic board which attracts  spammers, more elegant solution would be to open new self-moderated thread and then you can set strict rules and just remove all those not following them. It's the best way to keep thread under control and free from mindless spam.
5415  Economy / Reputation / Re: Thanasis -- Hacked account? on: November 11, 2020, 10:50:09 AM
You are definitely onto something here, there are simply too many differences before and after October 2017. People may change writing style over time and their English usually becomes better, but there is no reason to become worse. Based on  the account name  and few posts, original owner is most likely Greek

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=643235.msg8593079#msg8593079

And then after 2017 you can see Thanasis being active in Indian Cricket Premier League thread. Beside his newly found interest in Indian cricket, he also started using "kindly" and "sir", words he never used prior October 2017. I had few Indian colleagues in the past, and they do like to use word "kindly" quite often, usually instead "please".

Just look at one of the first posts after that sudden change of posting behavior and English level, in which he is interested in 777Coin signature camoaign

What is special senior member position?

can i apply for that position?
kindly reply me soon sir.

In my opinion account changed the owner, so I am leaving neutral for now. The only question is whether it was sold or hacked.

What happened: Newbie user @FCDEEFI combined few different articles about various subjects like recent BTC price surge, Ethereum 2.0, ransomwares etc and combined all of them in topic he opened today. He did the same thing on reddit so I guess he thought he can do the same thing here, copy/paste things without consequences.

This is just part of his plagiarized topic as there is no need to share all of it here since everything is obvious:

Please stop promoting such FUD creating videos.

I am not really sure that you know what FUD means, as I don't see how can you call such a bullish prediction, and BTC being between 100k-288k by the end of next year  is definitely bullish prediction. FUD (acronym for Fear, Uncertainty and  Doubt) would be if this YouTuber was predicting BTC price going to 100 USD due BTC getting banned or something along those lines.

Regarding this prediction, there are so many for every possible price that they kinda lost meaning. Like broken clock that is right two times per day, so will one of those people that like to predict. All I know that future is bright and we can expect for price to go up in the long run, with occasional bump on the road like we had so far.

As mentioned in the beginning, this is how this scheme works, in which goal is to recruit as many people as possible, and then those people will invite others.

Regarding ridiculous claims, they are promising to list this shitcoin project to 73 big exchanges! Like that is not enough, they even claim that this will be listed on Nasdaq, which is just another empty promise that they absolutely can't deliver and is there just to fool people to invest in hope of later profit. For those who are unfamiliar with the name, NASDAQ is one of the biggest stock exchange in the world and will never list something like this.

Like all this is not enough, they decided to hire bumping service and even offer ETD tokens in return for comments, which is direct violation of bitcointalk rules and can result in thread being deleted.

Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.

Similar threads are already restricted to Games and Rounds in the non-altcoin sections, but the giveaway-related post volume is so high in the altcoin sections that I've decided to just ban them entirely here.

Last but not the least, based on the roadmap, they are working on this since 2018, but if you check whois, you will see that they launched website few months ago. 2018 is there to give appearance that this is well through of project, while in reality its just another dishonest claim.

There's a whole bunch of other accounts connected to this farm which posted in this thread, but I don't have time to get into it at the moment (I'll finish the list and tag everybody later). Their contract for the S4FE thread bumping seems to have expired on Nov. 1st.
Beside working in S4F, there is one more thread that connects these account, 📢[ANN][PRESALE] Base Protocol: HOLD ONE TOKEN - HOLD ALL TOKENS | [BASE] 🚀🚀, another dodgy project in which they started working few days ago.

I tagged those accounts you shared and here are few more  that worked/are currently working in these threads and are connected to this farm. I know that there are many more, this is just tip of the iceberg.

Time to add both Investro and Base Protocol to that infamous list of ANN threads that are using bumping services

5420  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Gera Capital cloud mining offering 6% daily profit on: November 09, 2020, 08:43:12 PM
I read their website and it is definitely a clear case of a ponzi scheme. Projects that typically have a minimum deposit that offers/promises daily returns are bound to escape and take advantage of its depositors in the near future. At first, you would see that your investment is growing but before its "promised" maturity date, the website will crash and disappear!
What they sometimes do is that they give you portion of your money back, for example you invest 1000 USD so they give you few days 5% profit daily in order to fool that it is legit, then you invest some more money and of curse after that they never let you withdraw it and whats;e even worse, you share link to you friends & family and drag into scam too.

That "certificate" is definitely a new addition to these scammers faking inventory to gain trust. Grin

People who dont know how photoshop can be used to edit any picture and make them seem legitimate (just like fake actor/actress nudes Cheesy) - they will fall for this only taking it to be real.
As a matter of fact, Certificate of Incorporation is quite often used in similar ponzi scheme cases. Beauty lies in the fact that it's so simple that you don't even have to photoshop it at all, due flaws in the system. For example, if you enter that Company Number visible on the certificate ( 12918393) into Companies House you will indeed get the info that company "Gera Capital" exists.

Problem with that is that Companies House (British government website/agency) doesn't verify info that you submit there so you can make any company you want, send them few GBP and appear there and then based on that false info you get that Certificate of Incorporation (which costs measly 10-15 GBP).That's why you will see so many scam companies registered in UK and boasting with that worthless piece of paper, that may appear legit to those that don't know the whole story, and unfortunately many don't.

Some time ago I made short explanation about the issue in Beginners & Help board named Certificate of Incorporation- what it is and why it shouldn't be trusted! in order to help spread awareness about this often used scammers tool.
