-snip-
I will answer both your replies (the one above aswell ) . So .. I'am not getting why Paper wallet is safer then the phone because if someone finds the paper wallet ... He will take it and that's it It's done (even if we say it's encrypted ... I can still encrypt the seed with my own encryption method)

I wouldnt use my own encryption, there is BIP38 to secure paper wallets with a password.

you said "Someone from another country could find a hole in phone security launch it." , How he is going to do that and hack me just using the phone number , is this even possible ? I mean the phone don't have internet , don't have Bluetooth or anything else so I'am not sure how the hell it  will get ha cked .

There is e.g. the SMS of death, but AFAIK there is no attack that would be able to read data from old phones unless you are close obviously. On the other hand you cant never be 100% sure. Paper is pretty well known for several hundreds of years and I think all its vulnerabilities are known. I dont see a big difference though as long as you keep the phone offline and at home.

Iphone and androids are main target as number of people that use them - https://www.google.com/search?q=sms+take+over+phone&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8   It is possible for txt messages  to do more then you think.

And depending on the type of phone service you can make a fake cell phone tower phones connect to - http://www.wired.com/2010/07/intercepting-cell-phone-calls/   Keep in mind that was 5 years ago it's now much cheaper to do, and easier for a "bad guy".

Paper wallet is much better then trusting a phone to hold it.
5462  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to get highest free BTC? on: October 15, 2015, 10:50:34 PM
I see that OP is not enrolling in any signature campaign.
So my suggestion is to apply somewhere and while you are surfing the forum.
And make any reply by this way you are earning free bitcoins.

OP has a referral link in his signature spot.  So most likely either it is a sig campaign, or he gets a kickback from each that use link.

So it's not empty.  It's just not a signature with a lot of design to it, it is all text.

Develope a Bitcoin product, Altcoin, or start a mining company. We have a project starting which will be a collaboration of all of these and more aspects of Cryptocurrency and Technology such as Medical Technologies and Solar Technologies.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1204912.0

The day's of making a altcoin and making money are pretty much over unless you bring something new to table.  There were a lot of pump/dump coins that never went anywhere.

If you just change name and image of coin... there will be a few that mine it at launch but I don't see it getting on a decent exchange or holding much of a value.

There are too many altcoins nowadays. Almost every single one is pump and dump and gone.

If you really want to develop an altcoin use one that's out there, there are thousands of failed ones  Roll Eyes

And a lot of them are utter crap.  The owner of the coin can pre-mine and claim it's for rewards down the road.   It is crazy some mess with some of these altcoins.

If it does not have a time/date to start mining and it does come pre-mined, there is pretty much 0 percent it is accepted long term.

Did you folks with 3.0 Kg orders also have Power supplies? There are reports that Bitmain will ship PSU's in advance of the miner itself.

I would think 3.0 Kg as being "light" for the miner.

My UPS tracking said 3.0 Kg for each of 9 boxes.  I ordered 9 x S7's with no PSU's.

I did order power supply as well, but I already received them.
They were marked as 2.00 Kg.
Bitmain says the S7 should be 4.5kg.

From Bitmain's site:

Be careful if they are paying less weight then it actually is.    They did this on 3 of my PSU's.  I ended up with a bill for them shipping at lower weight then actual.  I paid like 12 bucks for all together for 3 psu's.  So was not horrible.  I would hope they have fixed this tough.

But if you get it lower then actual look at your letters in mail. I almost threw my bill away as trash until I saw it truly was the shipping company sending me a letter. I assumed it was junk mail.
5465  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Free electricity on: October 15, 2015, 10:39:53 PM
wow congrats on free electricity! to what extent do you have that??
I personally always assume apartments and it usually is right around that or middle eastern nations where it is covered by the nation .

Actually US has some just few and far between.   If you are not paying for electriciity a renter would normally be more likely to use electricity then if they were paying for it.

Also student housing a lot pay electricity where there is a max (my last one was 25 dollars extra per person max).  But it was quite pricey as far as apartments go for regular rental fees.
5466  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Oct 11 to Nov 11 Sidehack stick pool club. on: October 15, 2015, 10:36:12 PM
I will lay out the 0.10 btc for the one year membership.

Thank you, but that is unnecessary, let a few of us pay for it.  10 of us would only be 0.01 each, that's only 1/3 of the club participants.  We can send it to the club address since you control it, correct?  Please confirm and I will send the first 0.01.

If it works looks very nice from the GUIness they show on front.    I think splitting cost is fair as were all in it together.

The only thing is if we do it I would like to have a shared login (normally i'm against shared but it saves us doing 25 accounts).  That way we can each log into it and see it ourselfs to.
5467  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Dead Antminer s5 on: October 15, 2015, 10:31:28 PM
Hi guys my antminer s5 is dead, the beagle bone died (already did the micro sd reimaging thing, it didn't work), I don't want to wait 3 weeks and spent 62$ buying a BB from amazon when i have no bullet proof tutorial about how to make it work (and add 2 months to ROI).

I ask for your help because i had seen that the daughter board has two empty data connector for hashing blades and an empty fan connector.

So my question is, what does it takes to build a 4 blades s5?

      A) Do I just connect the two blades and fan from my broken antminer?

      B) Connect the 2 hashing blades, and intercept the fan cables of  good miner and splice them with the fan of my broken miner?

I was wondering if there is no damaging side effect from doing this?

I have the Jan 07  Firmware, the one that came with the 5 machines.

Any help or advice that you could provide will be really appreciated .

Mine run fine with just plugging the blade cables into the S5 next to it. The only problem is the cables are short so you need to put them on their sides head to head. I use 1 fan per S5 so i use up the 2 Fan connectors.

Then i put a box fan blowing air through the fins and it solve the clutter heat problem and it let me lower the fans to 25%.

The biggest thing is firmware I cannot remember which one does it but only certain ones have 4 ports active.  Others you can plug it in on hashing modules and it would do nothing.

I would look through S5 thread and find out which one it right firmware.  Then find someone who sales the cables and get longer cables so you can leave them in old case.

With those 2 things you should be able to mod one into 4 blades.

What do you mean exactly?
You mine $3000 per month and pay the data center $1000? Like that?

I was just curious who would have control over BTC wallet, seems you would have control over both pool and wallet.
They just want their monthly payment or they can lock me out of the data center.
It is 2 miles away from my house. So the remote hands are mine.

I have checked with 5 different data centers for 20 miners and the cheapest quote was $5k.  I do not see how that is profitable.

Are you talking about electricity? Seems kinda high if so.  Your talking around 23.2 K watts  At 10 cents like 1.6k USD or so depending.

Are you talking about older bitmain miners and actually getting a miner for that 5k?

Thank you! Lets me see it before mine comes.   It does look more like a quick start guide then real guide.

I'm a little surprised I was expecting one to explain each mode a little more.  But I was wrong it looks like.

now i can't earn with the new difficult... i tried

What miner are you using?   As the new difficulty was a pretty small increase.

Those who were profitable last difficulty in 99.9 percent of time should still be in this one below was jump:

5471  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Vanity Adresses, where can I find them on: October 15, 2015, 06:20:54 PM
My PC is wayy slow to generate vanity adresses, but I will try it anyway. How can I use the programs?

Best way is to have a computer with decent GPU.  GPU kills it compared to CPU on getting these vanity address.  You can purchase them.... but I like to make as I don't trust others on it.

But it all depends on how long and what you are wanting.  Some will never happen if to long or to specific.  Others you can do fairly easy.
5472  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cheapest electricity in the world on: October 15, 2015, 06:18:11 PM
Have you considered solar power? You could create a free to run miner that only runs during the day.

Solar isn't free.

Tell you what I'll sell you all the free solar you want.
You pay me $10,000 per KW upfront and I will provide you lifetime "free" power.
How many "free" KW you want to buy right now?
solar power is good for a long-term option for power

waste of time thinking that solar are a better investment, you pay basically electricity in advance

what is matter is cheap electricity but also the initial investment, you cna invest big in miners and solar but you need to selle evrything later, fi you want a fast and big profit, with little risk

Solar is so long term it's practically more of a investment on the house it's on.   It could be 10 years before you get it back.  And if your using a lot of BTC miners the cost of it can be huge.

The person that wins every time is the one who finds cheap electricity.  Cheap electricity always will win out over solar/wind/ etc.

I have seen this a few times.  I'm sill suprised it made it out of beta.

Is there any list or way to see that torrents that people are making money sharing?  I'm just curious on legality of torrents that people pay for download.

seems good but not for me
coz my internet connection is bad for seeding  Cheesy

I mainly worry about legality of it.  I want to know what torrents are bringing money.  But no one seems to ever say this.

It could be a good passive income if truly paid and was legal torrents.  But i'm not sure that will happen.  I wish we had more then just a link.
5475  Other / Meta / Re: Need HELP. on: October 15, 2015, 06:11:02 PM
Have send a PM to Theymos regarding an issue if he may not see the PM I saw that the best would be to post in meta to have him take a look at it.

Thanks.
Admins are very busy and that's why can't help in a day or two, keep pm'ing every weak till you recieve a reponse.

FYI, theymos reads his PMs very quickly (same day usually). He doesn't reply to them if he feels like he's not going to be able to help or if the request isn't valid to him.
He'll just ignore you again if you send trivial messages.

@OP, he probably ignored your message because you didn't accurately prove that this was your account.
All you would have to do IMO is to sign a message from 1P7gsbyDeKTgwrpEC5TduNRGbZV5abuv5D and link a post where you used the address.

As he's post regarding lost accounts , I read there he will point me out to that link, after he read it and think's its unvalid, but he might changed that rule without notification. I'm not in a hurry, just want my account back when possible.

I also asked hedgy73 <- who is another member who i traded with paypal funds, and i can send him an email from the paypal account in mention or even 1$ to prove im the owner. My name matchs paypal account and money send by wardrick too.

Talking with blockchain.info support. Ain't able to get into the password, i remember the alias and email for my btc address but can't get into cuz I lost password. Other thing I can prove is that I'm the owner  of the email that contains the address 1P7gsbyDeKTgwrpEC5TduNRGbZV5abuv5D in question but can't get into the address account, that is different than the email for the Weed! account. All crazy, for not taking notes, and smoking weed make it harder for me.

The problem I see is it does not have a btc address you can sign with currently.  You really need to be able to send email from original email address (some people did not use a legit one that really was a mistake).   Or show ownership of a address used.

It is nothing against Hedgy73.  But a paypal transaction usually is not used to gain access to security locked account.   It takes trust of Hedgy73 and you.  Where if you can sign with BTC address it takes no trust we can see you own that address without a doubt.  Normally people dont really trust on this kinda issue there has to be without a doubt proof.

I think you are going to have a hard time getting this account back unless you get that block chain wallet with an address to sign with.  I wish you the best of luck with it.
5476  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: October 15, 2015, 06:04:34 PM
playing with this the last couple hours i cant find a way to get it to assign an ip to a computer connected to the lan port.

I do not think the R1 has dhcp abilities to assign IP addresses to network devices.

I hope someone uses one with a U3 soon, otherwise I am going to have to buy one just to satisfy my own curiosity.

Has anyone started looking into custom firmware for it?

I don't see a guide online.  With all of these comments on setup is the guide very good it comes with? Or does it even come with a guide?

I was curious how much they help on initial setup, or if it's more find out on your own.

Even so, the math I just did indicated a 232 day payback for my Batch 1s.  Of course, that is optimistic since it presumes today's difficulty for the entire time.

It's more than that even, it is unrealistic because the block reward halving will occur prior to your already optimistic estimate of 232 days, and that's going to throw a whole box of monkey wrenches into the works.

The only people that will net profit from the S7 is Bitmain.

I think a lot of people did optomistic ROI math on this machine, specifically batch 1.  I am not sure they will make ROI by having.   Unless BTC goes up in value a good amount, and you are using money not BTC as the indicator.

But we have a LOT more of these miners to come.   One thing that might save a lot is mining till having and selling.  I predict even at having it still holds a decent value.

BTC is like gold.
If the dollar becomes less attractive gold goes up, BTC goes up in terms of dollars.

BTC is like the gold off digital money.  Not like gold.  Gold will forever retain a value and is a safer bet then BTC.  BTC is more risky and we really don't have a long history to compare it to.

I don't know how much effect fiat money "becomes less attractive" translates into BTC investments.  I think BTC is still young and has not reached this point for majority of people.
5478  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BM1384 Pod Miner plus trade-in/recycling - an interest and feasibility poll on: October 15, 2015, 06:00:14 PM
What about auctioning it.  People get crazy bidding for stuff that is unique.  I would start off the bidding at .35 BTC (if it becomes an option)

One could potential get more out of a raffle over auction, look at a raffle at a fate, each ticket is worth $5, and its for $50 of meat for a BBQ, but the people running the raffle could end up with thousands.

where as people will only bid on an item upto the cost they are willing to obtain the item, so the $50 of meat could only go for $75.

I think raffle will bring most money, which will hopefully help on pod dev.  I'm sure it's costing some cash and time so I view it as kinda a neat way of supporting it.

You could double dip in a way.  Do a auction and a raffle.  My suggestion is don't do them at same time do raffle then auction, I think you will get most this way.   It allows people to try for rafffle then who knows what crazy bid you get on bidding.

So combination of two should get some dev money flowing.  And I still am willing to pre-order as I'm sure many others would if you need any money for dev, I'm willing to trust you on it.
5479  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can't access S3 on: October 15, 2015, 05:54:19 PM
I got a antminer S3 and i was tying to hook it up and i changed some settings to what a setup video said and now i can't access the browse gui

What settings did you change? Do you still have video?   if you changed it wrong it's possible S3 will not show up and need a reset.

To have access then lose it, sounds like wrong settings were changed quite possibly.
