If one knows he can afford to buy bitcoins and keep them for years without worrying about the bear period, then they are good hodlers, some others do better in daytrading and some people sell off to cut their losses.

I do hodl, and I advice people to do same, but rather than hodl and lose sleep whenever there's a bear market, it's better to sell off at intervals when you've made some profits at least, and buy again when it's convenient for you.
