With the exchange rate and increasing difficulty, you could have a shot at getting Slush to lower the minimum threshold. How much do you have in there anyway and how long would it take you to mine to 0.05?

I don't know how anyone can feel secure knowing someone with a marginal amount of wealth could play with this market like a ragdoll.

Pfft, security is me dragging my arse out of bed everyday at single digit hours and commuting to work.

HOLY MOLEY!

Err, I mean, as an Englishman, I find the current activity a tad exhilarating, old chap.

Australia starts stealing money too: http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-04-08/next-domino-australia-doubles-tax-retirement-savings

Don't know if it has been posted here.

Indeed. Given that 401ks are undoubtedly going to get robbed. I'm considering lowering how much I'm putting in.

Unfortunately, I got quite a bit behind over the years so not sure which way to go with that.

OK, liking p2pool so far. I miss being able to track my hashrate easily though. Who wants an Android app?
Just look on your node /static/graphs.html?Day page Smiley

Too much like hard work. I think I'll just rework my widget I wrote for the HHTT pool. It may need to work a little differently since the pages aren't public (and I wouldn't recommend anyone port forwarding 9332. Though I don't know that would necessarily cause any problems directly).

Thats the thing. The lowest setting for payout is .05 . I have below that and want to get my coins.

Mine to the send threshold. Make sure to put the send threshold up first then when you're past 0.05, do whatever you're doing with your miner and put it back down to cash out.

Bulls and bears are dead

2 new animals need to be picked

The way Bitcoin is going I vote for the cheetah for one.

And instead of the bear:

Welcome on the bull ride Smiley $300 next stop!

Me too. I never get included in these things Sad

Wait a second, let me choose a better avatar for it.

I'm writing regards to recent issues on pool. You may notice that there're some consistency issues on Stats page, e.g. rounds 17370/17371, website also sometimes hangs with "in maintenance" message. The reason is overloaded database; just in last month, the traffic on website quadrupled, much more people started using some monitoring tools polling the API from their widgets, others are refreshing profile page again and again; the traffic on website is just crazy. This *doesn't* affect mining, because mining backends are completely asynchronous - shares are queued and registered to the database lazily, which also explains these inconsistences in statistics page for very short rounds.

I'd suggest you may want a separate machine for querying statistics which caches them locally and doesn't query the database each time.

Two easy options come to mind:

1. keep an eye on blockchain.info and take your miners down when you see Slush get a block.. it updates automatically and there should be a fairly short lag.

Questions within questions... I'll work it out though Smiley

Since most pools use systems which discourage hopping your best bet is to leave your miners on a single pool (or point each of your individual gpus/whatever at a selection of pools) and leave them alone. If you're that bothered by the variance you should pick a PPS (pays the same per share everytime) pool.. although in most cases you'll pay a higher fee to the pool for the privilege.

I don't think PPS actually makes much sense for a pool. HHTT is just switching away from it as the pool funds rand down to 0 and people weren't getting paid.

We will breach $200 in almost exactly 10 hours time.
if so..
We will crash to double digits in almost exactly 1 week of time.

Just after the first bfl asics start arriving.

So if I needed some planned downtime and I didn't want to mess up my shares, how would I best choose when to shut down the miner?

Right at the start of a round, i.e. when a block has just been found.

Ah, Thought It Would Be something like that. I was more wondering how to tell but I guess it is on the website somewhere

Does bitcoinity get a special feed from mtgox or is it just the same as any of us could obtain?

btccharts.com appear to stay online when there's an outage like this as well.

I'm just asking because I have an idea for something different but in a similar vein.
