if you were just referring to cold...it does not matter it is air flow....in my basement setup with 1450mh and probably 6000 watts it is AIR FLOW
ie if it is 80F outside and 88F in the  basement that is about as good as it is gonna get....I add 8F over the outside temp....air flow and fans moving
air through ..getting the heat out is the main deal.....some heat will happen as you heat up your mining area....can't avoid it (limestone basement
will and does keep 8F of heat above say outside temp of 80F...but moving air keeps it from getting too out of hand..if you find yourself too far
in the heat increase...you just need more frigging air flow (or so it has worked for 22 months)

and of course winter you heat the house for free

Catch is every legit or un legit asic maker of scrypt and/or sha-256 miners I've ever heard of has been at LEAST 1 month late. Just saying it is very very common or at least it was
in the heyday.

The 2nd part to the above is equipment cost...anything is possible if you get the equip cost low enough....that requires almost lottery level luck thou.

and 6 400mh KNC Titan5 cubes new in the box from the KNC Liquidation sale we stumbled into...BUT the equip all has to be repasted (wrong paste) was new
but put together by clueless temps....and shipped in crummy boxes....thus 20% damage rate w/o counting the full repaste re-do on the lot of 24 in that batch.

We figure we can get all but 5% back..sad seeing new equip toasted because no thermal pads on new boards due to knc being temp worker idiots and testing
such there at 400mh for 1/2 hr....sure it worked for a bit...charcoal brick thou dc/dc's when we got some ..fun times.

It was however knc so we expected no less them being evil and all (tm knc) they were 1900 a piece with shipping included.

I bring this up because with hosting etc it comes out to 14c kwh and I should ROI with PSU's etc in less than 5-6 months. (not just miners psu's/gen tarkin firmware etc etc)


But like any miner that has survived....it is a matter of luck ..if you have good location ( 3c kwh say) you need equip ... in my case got crummy electric
but scored on equipment..the real winners on all this is if you can manage to beat the 'fates' and get both

main thing for me is with the improved (think V2 rocket vs NASA now) gen trakin firmware to monitor and the other mods i have done and such ..the Titans I have

in some manner (mainly LTC) we should be ok no matter if it is a Titan or an A4 (assuming they come out sometime before Oct ouch)

If you have a titan and use this X bracket to open up some air flow.....repaste with the gelin(sp?) extreme thermal paste/ get the Noturua 3000 rpm fan/ get them nice copper
heatsinks for the dc/dc's you SHOULD be able to run these for another 22 months and of course lightfoot here on bitcoin talk can fix them and the gen tarkin 3rd party firmware can regulate them heat wise etc....so hell it is great..main thing on above mods is my unit went from 700mh to 735mh solid on repaste etc above and my die temps went down 10c to 15c so
when I checked in my 84F basement all the dies were running cooler then last winter when my basement was at 60F lol

It is the tricks we have learned and the 3rd party support..but getting rid of that kludge of a knc heatsink and using individual heatsinks for the dc/dc's and the 3000 rpm fan with
the X bracket here...man 10c to 15c drop after all this (about 60 bucks a cube if you count 3 bucks a cube toward paste that is) well worth it

more stable no hassles and of course the thermal paste I had to scrape off after 22 months .(not a good sign) so there is that if you've got them used or run them a bit (that would
be all titans imho that need to be repasted at least asap...so as long as you are at it go full hog above is my advice)

As to why Titans and scrypt has lasted....no one has made anything bigger and at least for LTC more share of network as other stuff drops off the other end

The A4's coming out in 2 months at 280mh and 1000 watts may even HELP the Titans imho and scrypt coin and LTC price..in that it will show that scrypt is not dead and new
equip is being made for it again...considering the above is equiv in efficiency to a 325mh Titan running at 1250 we will have no issues

(unless they sell them like Toasters etc..which is possible)

So yeah the 3rd party support/firmware/being able to fix them is huge......my stuff should be good for another 2 years the new stuff I have will be modded right away to this norm

The catch is all exchanges imho have only say 10-30% of funds to cover the actual losses they would have with a hack. Even banks are that way but they insurance and the federal
government to bail them out.

Just an FYI for those on here. The only way to prove your account was hacked is IF you have a bitcoin address on the profile and still have your
private keys. They will only accept an account is hacked and act on it if you can send them proof via signature using the private keys and the btc
address on the profile. Thus getting hacked is pretty common on here. Getting you account back without jumping through the above hoop is what
is hard. He did not have such a BTC address listed, so that Phoneix1969 account is now moot.

Anyway for those on here...even if you never use the BTC address you put under your profile..make a  quick btc address with private key on a paper wallet
and stuff it someplace...the only way to get back a hacked account is to prove it with a signature using the private keys with your profile liste btc address

You could be right I have 2 rigs that are at the 22 month rank and going strong yet...I managed via a corp default sale to get one NEW Nov 2014 300mh 4 cube Titan (split with a buddy) for $1750 usd with my share of shipping of $75 bucks..so $1825 Total. I also managed by just dumb luck ...(we asked about the knc bankruptcy law firm if they had any RMA stuff they would sell before it hit the dumpster on a hope/prayer...they led us to the 1st closed bid auction we got 24 at 1900 each including shipping (my share was 6)

So anyway with 7 new titans and the other 2 going strong....we should be fine.

Still off topic but I will be quick the key here is WITH the mods (esp the 3000 rpm fan and heatsinks and cleaning and repaste) my 22 month Titans GAINED 35mh total. Also
they are running cooler now with the maxumark x  bracket mods heatsinks repaste and 3000 rpm to the extent of 10c to 15c less per die...THUS at 84F in my basement the
old Titans now are running at the DOWN 10c to 15c in temp per die..they are running lower temps then all of this last winter at 60F ...by about 8c in an 84F basement

yeah ....some may die ...due to age as you say...and perhaps your point is important....but more and more people are using the gen tarkin firmware and the above mods
so we will see...in my case....I'm probably good with the old stuff for another 2 years from these results ..and of course the new stuff will be mod'd as such immediately

it is about 60 bucks  a cube if you say it costs $3 each for the repaste tossed in


As to the A4's I kinda doubt they will shoot out the numbers of the Titans...I think KNC said they made 5k of Titans.....in reality I think it was no more then 3.5k and
they made those numbers as a batch for the dies when LTC was about 10 bucks. So I suspect MAYBE the most A4's we might see would be 1.5k and that imho would
be a huge dump for the price LTC is now.

So again for Titans the 'modifications are coming" Maxumark just made an order for another 500 sets of X brackets at 10 bucks each and has pm's probably eating up 300 so far....it is
JUST like the A2's or Alcheminer 256 miners whatever it takes to keep them as far away from 'space heater' and/or doorstops as long in the future as possible

But as to myself and those who want to ask us.....we have a hook on this .....and should be hanging around our 'cousins' on the A4 batch just fine imho

But again the vast majority of Titan users maybe have gotten out....a lot of folk got their Titans used...as a result they do keep up on such things.....but then again

HOPEFULLY the A4's will have OPEN SOURCE stuff on github for their firmware..thus folk on here should chuck in 50 bucks each and 'gift' gen tarkin an A4 to port  his 3rd party
firmware software development NOW...his stuff is that good..if he made a version for the A4's it would kill..the stuff throttles down each die up down due to heat or off.it kills cube/die on fan death/ it finds the most eff elec use per die saving me probably 10-15% in electric....also I can over clock the Titan to 325mh for all and if too hot or does not
like it...it will throttle it back to the standard 300mh....the stuff is great....a version for the A4 would kill ..just trying to be fair here (i still may get an A4 .) On summer
heat/hot days they throttle down the dies in the day and back up to max at night..the stuff is SOOOO slick.

anyway with the A2's and others out of scrypt and likely only the A4's and Titans left in the scrypt playpen at this time ...we should all do just fine imho  at least for the next 1/2 year imho



depending on how these A4's are setup I would say that FANS are huge....my upgrade from the crummy 1500 speed knc cheap fans to the 3000 rpm fans was huge..noise also was not an issue maybe 20% louder for 2x the speed.

.knc had a large kludge heatsink using FOAM (rubber) between the H shapped legs of stuff to the dies all 8 at once to a slap of 6x4" metal ugh.....was dumb as heck...replacing the X brackets by maxumark and just plain individual
copper heatsinks for the 8 individual dies...with that 3000 rpm fan was the kicker...not sure how A4's are setup but a few pics to titan owners may save you a lot of grief on a cheap/quick improvement.

On the Titans you kinda have to do a repaste to get a all this and put the X brackets on...probably it would be easier to mod the fans and add heatsinks on an A4 unit w/o such issues.

But anyway something to consider out of the gate imho

Parts of North Korea would be radioactive for a very very long time. Think Launch Sites.

A 325mh used Titan does 1250 watts vs a 280mh at 1000 watts.

Maybe 1 out of 20 used Titans could still do 350mh now as a prudent speed due to age
A 400mh has better effencency then that

Thus it is so close in electric vs hash imho as to be oranges to oranges and at the point a Titan can no longer be run the same could be said about an A4. They are so close when both get to that point on difficulty you'd be selling either in your stock or more likely both.

that's easy...it was knc themselves...they got caught in the bankruptcy ..lost the data hall..because bankrupt could NOT move the units out...ended up
paying 400k for it all....we got 1st auction on closed bid by accident...imho freaked them out ..so the next 2 auctions were open bids all could see last
high bid and they crushed us.

These auctions had 6 bidders KNC mainly imho the whale I think was knc would run the bid up on say 140 or so units by 100 bucks or so just so they could
snatch the last of the crumbs of units up to max of 160....no way.....no one knew if the crap even worked .that whale knew...so imho it was rigged

from my calcs on 14.6c kwh elec I have at the units at 1900 bucks I will ROI in 5.25 months......because I'm pointing all my hash at this debt it will be like
3.5 to 4 months

KNC with the hash they got if Boden Sweden really does have 3c to 4c electric will ROI in about 3-4 months

so it was a NO brainer imho to get their titans out of the data hall and in private hands of knc insiders

makes no sense...can you imagine an open auction on these in Texas supposed 160 titans out of knc proper from folk/whales of the 3c kwh to 4c kwh areas
like Oregon or Texas...from my rough calcs even if you paid 4.5k you'd ROI at those elec rates in 3-4 months tops

the could have made over a million dollars or hell 2x that toward their IPO and bankruptcy debts
