5501  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-2-1]Wikipedia Accepts Bitcoin Core & Bitcoin Cash Donations to Promote Kno on: February 02, 2019, 01:44:31 AM
Many people from all corners of the globe can now support Wikipedia - the well-known free encyclopedia, with Bitcoin Core (BTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) donations through BitPay. The news was first declared by BitPay via Twitter and their other verified website.

Why are you using those weasel words in your headline? No one other than Bcash whack jobs call Bitcoin Bitcoin Core.

If you want to build cred your phraseology counts.

Did I miss something or is the basic UI exactly the same? The only difference I can detect is the jolly picture up top.

I've been using it more and more and liking it but the UI definitely feels rather more retro than other sites.

And then they are out of funds to running the development.

Do make at least a fleeting attempt to fact check. It may make your life better.

NEM core developer - https://twitter.com/Jaguar0625/status/1090962431868915712 - who also seems to think the foundation was largely made up of pricks before its regime change.

5504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEM is struggling on: February 01, 2019, 09:17:24 PM
Previously, NEM seemed a promising project with a great future. But alas, the expenses that were spent incorrectly, the management themselves made themselves known. I do not think that staff cuts will make a big difference. Let's see whether he will live at least another month or two.

The core developers are not paid by the foundation or employed by them in any capacity. If the foundation went away tomorrow it would make zero difference to the actual system. It would probably progress faster without it.

5505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XEM team scam peoples for millions of dollars on: February 01, 2019, 07:20:26 PM
Of course op is spreading unnecessary fud but you can't deny that NEM is in very bad shape and it might not be advisable to hold on to those coins.

Hmm. Bit late now.
5506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEM is struggling on: February 01, 2019, 05:50:25 PM
It's sad to see what happened to a potentially powerful project. But this once again shows that the inept leadership to anything good will not. Everyone should do what is good at.

The inept leadership is gone.

The new leadership which arrived a month ago has the balls to admit they've been left up shit creek by their predecessors. Now they're doing something address it.
5507  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Thoughts on future of collectible physical cryptocurrency. on: February 01, 2019, 03:45:11 PM
Elias...I agree that with Casascius and Bitbills there should never be any worries on risking any loaded BTC items..especially on the bull run btc had last year and the 20k price we peaked at.
But we have been collectors for years and have seen how solid certain coin makers are as well as the solid reputations they have gained thru time. For the newbie or novice entering our hobby it is different..especially when people have to pay thousands to buy 1BTC compared to early times when btc was much cheaper.

New manufacturers should either offer self loading with your own keys or sell coins with nominal amounts on them.

No way in hell would I ever choose to trust a newly arrived nobody with one full BTC. Those days are now gone. Even plenty of the non nobodies raped their customers.
5508  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will SEC approve BITCOIN ETF ? on: February 01, 2019, 01:44:05 PM
It looks like new deadline will be October planty of time
I follow very good US lawyer on Twitter he told that new proposal is much better then previous one and has more chance to be approved
But first will be Fidelity and Bakkt
Both together will be much more then ETF
Also USA is not only one place of the world where bitcoin EFT can be approved

Presumably they'll be able to do their multiple extensions again, or perhaps October is when all the extensions run out. Can't be bothered to figure it out.

What's different about this proposal? How did they find the time to do something new when it's just been a few days since it was withdrawn?

So it looks like the clock has been reset for their application.

https://www.blockonedaily.com/vaneck-and-solidx-re-files-bitcoin-etf-application/

I'd prefer it if this plaster was ripped off now rather than peeled pore by pore. Perhaps the SEC won't procrastinate this time considering they were on the verge of having to deliver a verdict before the shut down.
5511  Economy / Speculation / Re: POLL: Did we hit the bottom? on: February 01, 2019, 11:57:15 AM
No, it has got more to go low. To my knowledge it is predicted to reach as low as $3300 before the next price bumping. Maybe this could go below to that as market isn't that stable. Market recovery is much expected for the moment, but to what extent this gonna happen in reality is unpredictable.

It's already gone below $3200.

I don't think we're done myself. We're not far above the low and I don't see much will out there to resist a concerted dumpathon. I'd vastly prefer to get it over and done with a classic v bottom type thing than dick around doing not very much.
5512  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Thoughts on future of collectible physical cryptocurrency. on: February 01, 2019, 11:17:45 AM
I believe that eventually, the coins will be in so many hands that this forum will only see a small fraction of the trading that takes place.

One of the odd things is that throughout this megabull interest in Casascius coins seemed pretty much as flat as ever. You would've expected some uptick in arousal.

Perhaps they have to be forgotten to be rediscovered again but I expected more enthusiasm.
5513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XEM team scam peoples for millions of dollars on: February 01, 2019, 11:11:11 AM

5514  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Thoughts on future of collectible physical cryptocurrency. on: February 01, 2019, 02:37:56 AM
I think indistinguishable fakes will be along at some point and then things are going to get a bit shaky.

All the stuff that's put up as fake at the moment is nowhere near a concerted attempt at a forgery, it's just a bit of a rip off that looks similar.
5515  Other / Meta / Re: Stop Newbies to Reply/Post on Lending Section. on: February 01, 2019, 02:27:49 AM
I don't understand why the lending area exists at all. Its prime purpose seems to be for senior members to sneer at the cognitively suboptimal attempts by nobodies to con them.

There are appear to be virtually no successful loans, just an endless cycle of insults and impotent scam attempts.

According to them they 'can't find' their cold storage funds. I presume this means they died with the owner.

This is just the professsionalism we've come to expect from our friendly local crypto exchanges.
5517  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance introduces Credit Card support for purchase of Cryptocurrencies on: January 31, 2019, 08:54:11 PM
It looks like the cost to buy with a card is nearly $200 higher through Binance than Coinbase. That's one hell of a premium to pay. I'll guess most people who are able to buy with a card will also be on Coinbase's list of countries.
5518  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency lending business. on: January 31, 2019, 08:49:32 PM
This Genesis Trading lending service is not lending to schlubs looking for a car loan. It's for their giant whale trading friends to drop on crypto markets. They won't even pick up the phone to you if you're not already a deeply established player. The crypto won't ever leave the markets either.

As for conventional lending to mortals, fucking forget it. It will simply never, ever be viable. Every aspect of crypto counts against it.
5519  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-01-30] Not Over Yet: Cryptopia Hacked Again, over $180,000 Worth of ETH Mi on: January 31, 2019, 07:01:38 PM
Honestly, I don't know whom to blame more: the mining pools' staff that they missed the news or Cryptopia that they didn't notify them?

I'm going to blame people that have set their pool reward to go automatically to ANY 3rd party address.
Was it that time consuming to have the funds moved first in a secure address and then and only then manually send funds after you check if the exchange or web wallet or whatever is still online and running?

Are we sure about this? It seems like an awful lot of miners. I can't believe that many are stupid enough to send direct to an exchange. I find it even harder to believe that many would send to such a shit exchange.
5520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: January 31, 2019, 03:55:53 PM
If the Dev hadn't called up the foundation in that post, the old members of the foundation would have carried on as they were and things would have been a lot worse.  In my opinion it was a positive thing and a change of foundation is what was needed.  Drastic changes now have to be made to make the foundation more streamlined and future proof.  Short term pain for long term growth.

It's definitely positive long term. Shame it had to come to that though and there'll be more short term shit sandwich to eat.
