4501  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase could buy Xapo on: May 18, 2019, 12:23:39 AM
Xapo is a blast from the past. I presume they've been busy hiding in their Swiss mountain vaults.

Don't really see why Coinbase would bother with this when they have their own custody thing going, but perhaps they want to scoop up those OG whales who bank with Xapo.

I'd be surprised if Fidelity let this go if they are serious about entering his area. They're not going to find an equivalent anywhere else. I wonder what Xapo's users make of all this.
4502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If there is a store like Amazon or ebay that accepts only BTC would you use it? on: May 18, 2019, 12:16:39 AM
I appreciate your opinion. But I'm curious would you say for yourself that at this point of time crypto represents only an asset for you?

I'm happy to spend a bit of it because it's become a valuable asset to me. I may as well make use of some of the value that has accumulated. I guess that means it's still primarily an asset to me and not a currency.
4503  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If there is a store like Amazon or ebay that accepts only BTC would you use it? on: May 18, 2019, 12:06:02 AM
Most peoples' answer to this depends on how long they've been in crypto.

If I was a brand new arrival absolutely not. Why would you? There are options that are non volatile and less hassle. Obtaining your crypto would've been a grind.

If you're sitting on a pile of free gains then why not? Time to realise them by buying some junk.

The latter are in a minority so I don't think any such place would thrive. And most of the time the existing places like this charge you more money for the honour of paying with crypto with much worse choice. I'd never take a shittier deal because of some sentimental attachment to my payment method and anyone who does is a numpty.
4504  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Transaction fee has gone up by 10x during the last two weeks on: May 18, 2019, 12:00:44 AM
If you're moving between exchanges then this is the glory of alts, though watch them trading fees. I'm buying some tat with a crypto debit card and they have shitcoin facilities too. It's far more relaxing paying a pittance and having a near instant arrival.

It does depend on the alt of course. Okex told me they won't release any trade funded by BSV until 200 confirmations which is the best part of two days.

If the whole world did turn up on Bitcoin's doorstep in the next year or two I don't think there's any option other than feemagdeeon. Batching and Segwit can only do so much, though they certainly help. LNs are still in obscurity.

This is what people who keep money in bank deposits and are afraid of everything new look like.

They look ecstatic to be part of making the future and so they goddamn should be.
4506  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 17, 2019, 10:16:46 PM
I don't have any expectations about an approval.

My guess is that an ETF will arrive many years from now long after it's been routed around by countless other methods. We'll think 'ooh, that's nice. Brings back a few memories' and then get back to our fluffers.
4507  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will spending Bitcoin actually be bad for the price? on: May 17, 2019, 09:27:02 PM
I remember a Bitpay employee saying every single satoshi they were receiving at one point was going straight into the wallets of OTC buyers. Where else will you find a constant and steady supply with a very willing seller? There aren't many other places.
4508  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 17, 2019, 09:24:58 PM
There are rumors that the VanEck ETF could be approved next tuesday. Why ? Because, unlike Bitwise, there has been no announcement about it being postponed. And because, next tuesday "crypto mom" Hester Peirce is supposed to be a speaker at an ETF conference in New York.

https://bitcoinist.com/bitcoin-etf-sec-keynote-approve-rumors/

But... at Consensus Peirce also said that some questions still needed to be answered on the ETFs.

Smells of typical straw grabbing to me. If I remember rightly the applications had different dates for the extension so not saying anything now about Vaneck is meaningless. Glad to be proven wrong all the same.

2/2: We closely examine every event that causes large-scale movement in our order book and have started an immediate case investigation.

Interesting. Do they have form for this?

Where does selling a shit ton turn into something that gets legal types hot and bothered?
4510  Economy / Speculation / Re: [prediction] Next spike $560,000 14 {<-oops!} months from now (2017 Update!) on: May 17, 2019, 11:05:18 AM
@gentlemand i do wonder - you're on old timer so you shouldn't be as affected by the Blockstream propaganda machine as some of the newbies, so what gives? why don't you see the problems with BTC/LN unfolding (as predicted) as being indicative of what is really going on beneath the hype and market action?

I'm yet to be convinced of anything regarding lightning networks. I can well believe they may remain an egghead dead end. As for BlockstreamBorgAxaLizard, the majority are choosing them. I have no particularly strong feelings.

BSV is a fork of a fork with near total mining centralisation and not one competent or non skeevy person visibly involved. I wouldn't entrust them with my snot.

If the 'purity' of the software is all that counts then people should run their own version of BTC at home on two computers and bat it between them.
4511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WeChat and Crypto on: May 16, 2019, 11:43:15 PM
I assume that you really hate every Chinese contribution to the crypto world.  yes.  the Chinese government has a decision to limit crypto trading activities.  but.  prohibiting crypto trading in an application is not a good idea.  I believe.  if crypto becomes an uptrend in the future.  Each social media platform will adopt crypto trading to attract every user.

You bet.

Wechat is not a social media platform. It's a government control platform using social media as the tool to do it. What the government wants and doesn't want Wechat obeys.

Hello, whats with this sudden price spike? https://poloniex.com/exchange#btc_xem

Also trading volume jumped high. Something is happening behind scene ?

I haven't come across anything obvious. I'll take it all the same.
4513  Economy / Exchanges / Re: HitBTC.com - The most advanced cryptocurrency exchange on: May 16, 2019, 05:13:36 PM
I can't of course. And they know it. Thank you to support me but It's finish for my case, I just lose my only Bitcoin pffff.

Flat out theft hiding behind weasel words.

The only other place I've heard of that keeps money like this is Changelly. Funnily enough Changelly and HitBTC are alleged to be operated by the same people.
4514  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Sent money to old deposit address - Cryptopia refuses to deposit it on: May 16, 2019, 04:46:13 PM
I understand that they warned me, but it is possible to recover those LTC as they are still there. It is only that they are not willing to do so. And what is the reason to not recover $1200? Only the warning? Well, then I will not use this exchange and will recommend not to use it to everyone.

Yes, it's surely possible. Now to be honest the $1,200 worth not enough to them, if you asked them by telling there are 1000 LTC sitting in the address,They would already recover the coins.
I know that Bittrex charge a fee to users to recover coins and the minimum must be at least $5,000 :/

No it's not possible.

Cryptopia is now in liquidation which means all assets will be frozen and then the liquidator decides who gets paid back what. OP may be a long way down the list. The private keys to that wallet be not be accessible anyway, or available to a hacker.

Unforgivable that Cryptopia encouraged anyone to deposit anything. They must have known they were on their way out.
4515  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 16, 2019, 03:24:53 PM
Actually wish I bought BCH back in december when it was $80, 5x from those prices to today.  Oh well lol, everyone was calling it a deadcoin.

Looks like the money is starting to go back into eth, the btc ratio had very strong support at .025.  That was a nice buying opportunity if you were looking to only increase your btc amount.
I'm calling it dead

It's on tons of exchanges. It has bitcoin in the name. It's 'cheaper'.

That's all the average dunderhead wants. It's deffo not dead.

@gentlemand:
The more woman in the company, the more likely it will go bankrupt.

Riiiight.

Despite her severe disability I don't see how she can possibly do a worse job than the previous 'leadership' which seemed to mainly consist of employing their Filipino mates, emptying minibars on their paid for travels and trying to block the launch of Catapult.
4517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 16, 2019, 01:33:00 PM
But maybe I oversaw something or I am not right?

You're scared of a woman heading things up? There are billions of the things crawling around doing a fine job in their respective areas.

Nem's always been invisible. I don't know why. No idea how it'll be solved.

Though the actual project itself it is one of the very few solid and original ones out there, the market treats it like a shitcoin. It picks it up and forgets it just as rapidly. Plan accordingly.

Its best chance is the Catapult upgrade which is supposed to be arriving towards the end of this year. That might just push it up to a higher level and keep it there. If it doesn't then it's toast other than generalised pumps.

All alts are a bet. Don't take excessive risks and you might get a nice surprise.

There's still some volume/price update not shown from the XEM/USDT pair for ZB.com exchange, the 24H volume with them included should be around $100M+. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/nem/#markets

Interesting.

For ages Exrates, which is pure fictional bullshit, made up 90% or more of the volume.

That's some real proper volume for once. Hope it sticks around.

Why have you got "Baby Blue Panties" as personal text?

It seemed like the right thing to do. You'll see some day.

As will I.
4520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WeChat and Crypto on: May 16, 2019, 01:02:33 AM
#I see WeChat's decision will have a negative impact on the value of their quantity.

Wechat has the Chinese government completely inserted up its anus. It's one of the government's prime control and surveillance tools. I would amazed if it wasn't doing anything other than this.

It sounds like it's now basically indispensable for daily life there and no doubt they'll make its necessity even deeper. That's an ideal platform to deter crypto usage.

The more removed China is from crypto the better. Nothing good has come from its involvement.
