I've been warning people about Kraken on here for months.

Thieves...avoid.

I was assimilated when they took over CAVirtex.

Been trying to get my coins off but it has been impossible to login today.   Angry Angry Angry Angry

edit:  and Hitbtc is also down for more than 24 hrs..   Shocked Shocked Shocked

Finally was able to make a Bitcoin withdraw and the tx shows up on the network.  I'm done with Kraken.

Come again?

I was responding to a post, since deleted, that I neglected to quote bemoaning the unusability of the Kraken UI.

I have reiterated my personal experience numerous times but will do so again, if it saves one person it is worth being tiresome to those that are paying attention.

Kraken very suddenly suspended operations in my jurisdiction, A major and tech heavy US state.  I don't check foundation email addresses every day, or indeed always every week, and the suspension of support was rolled out with very short notice.  I found myself trapped on the wrong (fiat) side of a trade during a robust run up unable to stop loss as account privileges had been suspended.

Customer "support" was laughable.  I kept getting handed between teams, and the right hand clearly did not know what the left hand was doing, further, no one seemed to much care.

Kraken's business model is to pull the rug out from under selected customers and stonewall and feign helplessness until it doesn't matter.  Their obvious lack of investment in basic infrastructure should tell investors all they need to know.

Heh!  Yeah I deleted my post because it came between HairyMac telling Gab0 to fuck off or something to that effect.
...anyway, I said I couldn't access kraken and if I do manage to get logged in, once I try to do anything else, it chokes again.  It's totally unusable.

Cool!  Thanks.  Ill save the bandwidth and sing it to myself.
I saw Queen perform it during their Hot Space tour so it's still fresh in my mind.
Meanwile... Kraken is still choking on traffic.

That's the number of posts in this single thread.

As it seems we are soon to reach the "WO pages count" milestone -now at 18721- we will need a new target. I propose the "WO posts count" as next milestone.

 Are we there yet?!

Pullback. I blame futures.

Just wait till those altcoins start pulling back and all this money flows back into BTCitcoin  Grin

We're up 200% in a month while still climbing. Give the badger some rest, let the alts have their fun and in a while big mr b will wake up again.

Actually,  there was a dip in that month...  So while it's up over the last 30 days,  we're covering some old ground and percentages are deceiving.

Holy shit, I never ever thought I would see a headline in the MSM like this:

How to give the gift of bitcoin this holiday season
https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/10/how-to-give-bitcoin-as-a-gift.html

 Cool

Wow.  Is this the acceptance phase already!?
5533  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 10, 2017, 09:05:19 PM

edit: Thanks.  I'm less angry now.

Dammit!!!

Wait, are they actually using a toaster? On their official failure page? Never noticed before.

No.  I did that in anger. with GiMP. and anger.
There isn't even much activity and it's chokes!

PS I'm not in Marseille either; that would give me a whole 'nother reason to be angry.

What people think BOA patent news means: mass adoption of crypto

What it actually means: Cease and desist orders to all existing crypto exchanges, and either no use of the patent or use for proprietary bank coins
Good thing decentralized exchanges won't give a damn.
Which exchanges are decentralized?

How is fiat handled?

5537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Power Usage on: December 10, 2017, 07:41:35 PM
Am I daft for thinking that one of the biggest threats to cryptocurrencies is the amount of power used to mine them.  It seems to me that in the next year or so alternative technologies will need to be developed that dramatically reduce power usage.

It's not all cryptocurrencies, it's Proof of Work cryptocurrencies. And yes, something will need to be done. PoW is not sustainable.

Power consumption/Bitcoin value will reach an equilibrium at some point in the future.  Are you saying that it will continue to increase beyond our capacity to generate electricity?  Let's assume that there isn't enough electricity to supply the demand; one of the most fundamental concepts of economics (arguably the backbone of any market economy) would dictate a price increase for electricity in lieu of an increase in miner efficiency.  The only way it's unsustainable is by keeping all other variables constant while increasing the fiat value of a Bitcoin.  Only a flawed mental model leads to the conclusion that PoW is unsustainable.

Why on Earth didn't you do an OTC sale? There's no way I'd trust any exchange with amounts above a few grand. They're too prone to freeze you over AML shite.

... because I thought I was properly verified for the level of play I was looking for.

Got this email just prior to doing the sale.

Fuck me, right ?

Can you buy Bitcoin with it or is the account locked?  Might as well ride the train again while you're waiting Wink  CCMF

Welp, taking a vacation from cash trading since kraken is unusable. Withdrew all assets. Damn shame for everyone involved, but there we are.

I'm totally fucked at Coinbase. Sitting on an obscene amount of fiat from a recent sale, but don't have access to my Funding/Withdrawal page. Something 'tarded like below is what I'm getting.

Sheeeeeeit.

 Oh no Bob.  Good luck!

5540  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 09, 2017, 10:49:15 PM
Who decided that Bitcoin would be denominated in Y and Y weren't we consulted?

You will have to find out if the universe is deterministic or not to answer that question:

http://steemit.com/science/@r0achtheunsavory/the-r0ach-report-25-computer-science-proves-the-existence-of-a-variable-known-as-god-but-not-what-god-actually-is

Of course the universe is not deterministic. It's called quantum mechanics. Unless you want to consider things falling within certain probabilities deterministic.

Okay, that's enough.  I'm going to have to put you guys on ignore because I have no idea what you're talking about.
