5541  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion to make rank-up more difficult on: October 19, 2020, 10:28:19 AM
Therefore I'll repeat what I said in the OP and in another post inside this topic:

Given the above mentioned details, I still believe that the rank-up should be a bit more difficult.

Yet again I have to disagree with you my fellow cinephile & spambuster, and repeat what I said before, that just because it was easy for you to reach Legendary merit requirement way ahead of the curve doesn't mean that it should be made harder in general. You are not an average bitcointalk user, not by time spent here and your knowledge, you even have experience in running news website, and when theymos decided on those numbers, he probably had an average  users in mind, and not experienced writers, crypto experts and generally creme de la creme of the forum.

By even doubling current merit requirements it wouldn't change anything for you while it would discourage those that are not on the same level. Based on all available metrics new users are rare, forums are not as popular as they were 10-15 years ago so there is no reason to make additional obstacles when main purpose of merit system is to prevent spammers ever reaching higher ranks and not make some kind of "forum elite".

Before introducing something like that, you have to ask yourself how exactly would that improve quality of the forum as I honestly don't see how would that happen. As I said before, new users are rare, especially good enough, just look at this interesting fact shared by @suchmoon the other day

A few notes on the new data:

  • Banned and Active numbers are lower and higher respectively for the more recent months for obvious reasons (I even removed September from the Active chart because it looked too weird). However it's quite interesting that Active number drops off very quickly. After a few months 99%+ users no longer post, not regularly anyway.
  • More registrations don't result in more long-term activity. Look at the Dec 2017 - Jan 2018 boom.
  • 80% of users never making a single post is just mind-boggling. I'll triple-check this to see if I didn't screw something up but so far it seems like that's an accurate number. Must be some bot farming going on.

99% of the new users give up after few months. I know that increased merit&activity requirement shouldn't  discourage quality members and those that are genuinely interested in crypto, but it might some of those that are new to all this and forums in general. Because of them, and all the others that struggle even now, I don't think that increased requirements is a good idea.

Or look at these numbers from @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard, rank of the people who created account between 1.1.2019-31.12.2019. Numbers are not the best to say the least, and show that it's not so easy for new users to rank up.

Last but not the least, congrats on reaching 1000 merit, well deserved. Cheers!

Naravno sve to će prestati momenta kad DarkStar konačno objavi sva imena  Cheesy

5543  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]There is a fake Atomic Wallet in Play Store on: October 19, 2020, 07:16:09 AM
Maybe they are quite busy or just gotten used to the fact that many scammers copy tons of projects and use it to scam people.
None of those are valid excuses to be so indifferent to the fact that there is a copy of their wallet on Google PlayStore while people are loosing money. Some of them might even be their long term users who didn't pay attention and got the fake one.

They have more than 50,000 followers on Twitter, 9,000+ on Facebook, 20,000+ on Telegram and you wanna know how many warnings they issued so far? Zero! If they  bothered to share warnings on all those social media channels and asked their members/followers to report the app, it  would be down by now, most likely. They decided to ignore the issues so app is still there, ever since at least September 26th as that's when the first review mentioning scam was posted.
5544  Economy / Reputation / Re: May I get into any troubles by sending trust feedback? on: October 18, 2020, 06:03:02 PM
I sent my first neutral feedback to a member that seemed posting suspicious content. I may do it in the future for other members, and I want to know. May I get considered as a trust abuser?
You were right, content that member was posting is more than suspicious, most of his posts  are  plagiarism hiding behind paraphrasing and text spinning, I reported him this morning so hopefully he gets banned soon as I can see, since I reported him he made few more c/p posts.

Before you start sending feedbacks more often, I suggest you check LoyceV's Beginners guide to correct use of the Trust system. It helped me a lot at the beginning, and I was often rereading it when in doubt.

Also another question, how can the people that see the feedback be sure that I'm not lying?
Make sure to archive reference link. My preferred way is https://archive.fo/, but as @suchmoon said, @LoyceV tool is also good option.

Good catch, just one suggestion : update the first post with the flag link for an easier access, that way more people will notice the flag and support it, as flag Type 1 needs support from at least one DT2 member to be active and visible to newbies and guests.

DeFi Governance Tokens Face Three Challenges

I noticed that in very short period of time this newbie user managed to churn out 10 topics yesterday. At first it looked like he was copying his own reddit posts and just posting them here, but it somehow didn't add up so I just manually checked few Ethereum articles on known sites and voila, found something. It looks like he is paraphrasing and using text spinner for certain words like "Atrium" for Ethereum (I guess) and "floor" for bottom to avoid detection. I've seen some weird words due text spinner use, but I don't remember seeing "Atrium" yet.

There is one more suspicious topic that looks like its done in the same manner, but these two examples should be enough to prove @AfshinN real intentions.

A number of Ethereum floors have followed the same pattern over the past two months, representing a wave of sales due to panic and redistribution of Atrium by dominant traders, allowing for a quick return to price. Ethereum Thirty-Day Market Value Ratio (MVRV), which tracks the average profit (or loss) of all addresses purchased over the past 30 days, indicates that short-term holders earn an average of 8% profit. . At present, Atrium's 30-day MVRV ratio is still far from what has historically been considered a "danger zone", indicating the levels at which short-term holders have sought to sell their assets in the past.

Another notable trend is the 365-day atrium shutdown cycle, which tracks the movement of all tokens that have not changed in more than a year. This number remains at its lowest level on October 7 with an average daily floor of 13,438 ETH, indicating that long-term ether holders still do not intend to sell despite recent price recovery. Calculating the profit / loss of the Ethereum network, which is the average profit or loss of all the coins that change daily addresses, is a good way to find out which holders are afraid of selling at a loss. Amid the market crash on March 13, 2020, Ethereum Network reported a total loss of $ 2,932,200

A number of Ethereum’s bottoms over the past 2 months featured the same behavioral pattern, suggesting a wave of panic sell-offs and short-term redistribution of Ethereum to strong hands — allowing for a more sustained bounce back. This metric remains important as statisticians can calculate the "blood in the streets". Ethereum’s 30-day MVRV ratio, which tracks the average profit (or loss) of all addresses that acquired ETH in the past 30 days, indicates that the short-term ETH holders are, on average, currently up +8% on their initial investment.

Another noticeable trend is Ethereum’s 365-day dormant circulation, which tracks the renewed movement of all tokens that have previously not changed addresses for more than a year. This number has stayed relatively low since the October 7th bottom, with a recorded daily average of just 13,438 ETH, suggesting that long-term holders are still sitting on their bags despite the recent price bounceback.

Ethereum’s Network Profit/Loss, which computes the average profit or loss of all coins that change addresses daily, are a good way of seeing which holders are panic selling at a loss. Amid a market-wide crash on March 13th, 2020, Ethereum’s network realized a cumulative loss of -$2,932,200

Here is another example from one of the articles he paraphrased:

Common tokens

The main trend in Governance tokens right now is that every major DeFi platform should have one. Over the past few months, we have seen Uniswap, Aave, Curve, Compound, Balancer, etc. launch their own special tokens, making a splash in the market.

Challenge One: Focus centralized

The obvious problem that most governance tokens face is focus. About 46% of COMP tokens are distributed to shareholders and founders of the Compound team. This gives the inner circle more leeway in governance decisions than the users, which exacerbates the problem that the proposers themselves are the inner circle.

The second challenge: interest farming

Extracting mining  liquidity poses another problem for interest farming that government tokens and the platforms that use them face.
Due to interest rate farming, we may potentially face a situation where debtors are unable to repay loans, creating a deficit in a particular Governance. Such a deficit can undermine the stability of the platform.

Challenge 3: Encourage the founder to leave the project

One of the main issues is for the founders to sell their tokens and leave the project sooner. This happened recently with SushiSwap,

Fashionable token

The main trend in governance tokens right now is that every major DeFi platform needs to be seen to have one. Over the past few months, we’ve seen Uniswap, Aave, Curve, Compound, and Balancer (among others) have all launched their respective governance tokens, generating market buzz in the process.

Problem one: concentration
About 46% of Compound’s COMP tokens were distributed to shareholders, founders and the Compound team. This gives the inner Compound circle much greater weight over governance decisions than users, something which compounds (pun intended) the aforementioned problem that this inner circle will also be the ones making the proposals.

Problem two: yield farming
The mention of liquidity mining, yield farming brings us to another problem faced by governance tokens and the platforms using them.
Because of yield farming, we may potentially encounter a situation where debtors are unable to repay loans, causing a deficit in a particular governance token. Such a deficit could undermine the stability of a platform, although Kivlighan said AAVE has introduced a system to guard against this possibility.

Problem three: incentivizing founder exits
One of the key issues is with founders selling their tokens and abandoning the project early. This most recently happened with SushiSwap
5547  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]There is a fake Atomic Wallet in Play Store on: October 17, 2020, 02:58:10 PM
this should be forwarded to the atomicwallet so that they can help to report this app.
I contacted them via Telegram group, told them that there is a fake app using their name to steal people's money, told them that it would be best if they as company react as it might get that fake app down sooner, to which one of their admins just replied "report it to the Google Play Store please". No "we are looking into it", "it will be taken care of" or anything of that sorts. Oh well, I did what I could, I  just hope that app will down soon before many loose their hard earned money.

I afraid that this scam application is already downloaded more than 1000. I can not imagine actually how many users have lost their funds by getting fall into this trap. Google should more observant about these types of scam applications. I am going to report it and everybody should do this.

Based on reviews and comments under the app, some people actually fell for this and entered seed phrase without thinking much and lost their money. It might also be that some people had Atomic wallet before, then changed their phones, wanted to install Atomic wallet again and by being careless installed the wrong app, shared the seed phrase, and said goodbye to.

edit:

I contacted them in Telegram Group. They replied nothing. Such irresponsible behavior. Just ignored my message. I did not pm any admin as they didn't gave importance.
They could aware their users. But they are just ignoring.
Even though they replied me, I got the same vibe as you did, that they don't really care much, or that they don't take it too seriously. For sure not the reaction I expected when I contacted them, and I hope that's not their general behavior and it was just the case of bad customer support.

5549  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]There is a fake Atomic Wallet in Play Store on: October 17, 2020, 09:33:09 AM
It is not Google's fault that these slip in their cracks.
Whose fault is then, if not Google's for letting fake app on their PlayStore? They already have an app with almost the same name and same logo (in different color), and that wasn't enough for them to deny that fake app. It's pure negligence.

Google makes sure that anyone can produce their product in their store, although their system might look like a faulty one, at the very least it puts the interest of public first.
Interest of public is not to get scammed via fake wallet. It is also not in Google's interest to get their customers scammed, therefore they should be more selective when allowing apps like that. It is a wallet where people store they money after all.

Good thing that there are reviews in these apps to warn potential victims.
Sure, there are reviews that can warn the others, but sometimes that's not enough as scammers can pay for fake reviews and shill the app. We've seen several services advertising that here on the forum.

tl;dr Google should put safety of their customers as priority.

By the way, nice catch @Sparrow96!

To anyone reading this, please make sure to report the app, it will only take a minute of your time.

5550  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: October 17, 2020, 08:51:21 AM
Yet another brief monthly overview, slightly delayed this time.

As always, I took the data from @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard where you can find more interesting info regarding each board, and not only the local ones.

Post activity in the period between September 1st and September 30th

Compared to August, there was a decent increase (approximately 9%) in the post count, from 21411 to 23233. As in previous months, no change at the top, Russian board is far ahead, followed by Turkish and German boards. Regarding other boards, no significant changes there except Arabic that had a lot of deleted posts for some reason. All those boards that are usually at the bottom end are still at the relatively similar numbers, with Chinese and few others missing due negative post count.

Merit activity in the period between September 1st and September 30th

One would expect for merit number to increase due more posts written in local boards, but that's not the case this time. Despite 9% more written posts, overall merit amount shared decreased from 5681 to 5154 making it 9% less. Among most  active boards, Russian, Turkish and French had increase, while almost  all the others had lower numbers compared to previous period. These numbers usually fluctuate from month to month so it's not a reason to worry, imho.

Merit senders and receivers per local board in the period between August 1st and August 31st

Self explanatory chart that more or less follows previous one, with few boards that usually have higher amount of members involved in merit system compared to merit shared. Someone might argue that those boards (Pilipinas for example) could use more merit sources, but it's hard to say without knowing post quality and only members active there can say whether that's true.

Merit/Post ratio for the period between September 1st and September 31st

Due increased post amount and less merit shared, overall ratio dropped from 0.27 to 0.22. Arabic board is once again at the top, but  2 merit/post ratio is deceiving  as that board had unusually high number of posts deleted that inflated the ratio, while Hebrew is so high simply because their very low post count, so even 2 merit shared inflated that number as well.

I don't know what's going there, whether their lost merit source or posting quality decreased but Pilipinas board continued their decline month after month, with record low 0.08 merit/post. Another board that used to have much higher ratio, Turkish, is still at the bottom end of the chart but for that one we know the reason (lost merit source).

Treba to gurat u mainstream, medju gen pop Cheesy
5553  Other / Meta / Re: Evil users on: October 16, 2020, 05:18:55 PM
Registering accounts itself dirties the IP and you can only get away with creating something like 6-10 accounts from a completely clean IP (a hospital for example Wink ) before more accounts start getting charged the evil fees..
Even without doing anything “bad”, or even doing anything at all.. Creating accounts builds evil..
Thanks for explanation about this, I had no idea that after you make several accounts you will get start getting charged. I suspected there is some cap after which you will get flagged and that you can't make new accounts indefinitely but based on so many sock puppet accounts made by farmers, I though that number is much higher than 6-10.

This may stop some low level abusers like bounty hunters that just want to create few more alts, but unfortunately that's no issue for pro account farmers. Better that than nothing I guess, but how can someone that never visited bitcointalk before nor used Tor/VPN when registering get this "evil fee" message? Does that mean that for example someone in his building or close to him made bunch of accounts so he got affected by that too? Then again, what are the chances of that happening...
5554  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] DRK Defi- Plagiarized Whitepaper on: October 16, 2020, 10:47:09 AM
Isn't @Draken.Group the bounty manager of the campaign or do they have someone else managing bounty?
He is the bounty manager, they didn't hire someone else, they decided to run it by themselves. Any decent manager wouldn't accept hosting their campaign anyway since they plagiarized whitepaper.

Anyways I think almost all those who are wearing their signature will be removing it once they see this topic or the red trusts that the bounty manager has now and won't risk getting tagged, but about other campaigns Facebook, Twitter and such can't do much about them since almost all of them are newbies and don't care much about their account while they can easily just create a new one, but I think still tagging members who are continuing to promote them despite the warnings could help reduce the number of bounty participants significantly.
Since their bounty campaigns started on September 20th and @Draken.Group got tagged almost immediately (September 21st), somehow i doubt that they didn't notice tags, but majority  simply decided to ignore it. Just another proof that an average bounty hunter doesn't really care whether something is legit or not, as long as he gets his precious tokens.

Imho, in this case it would be the best to send PM to all those that are still wearing signature, warning them about the consequences of promoting a blatant scam. At least that's what I did in similar cases.

Take care guys.
If you want to get rid of nested quotes in an elegant way, you might wanna check this guide made by @EcuaMobi User Script: Automatically remove nested quotes v1.1.1 . It can be especially convenient when you are writing posts on mobile phone as it can be hassle to delete all those quotes.

With what you posted above, we can only see people you quote or something, you own post is not seen as it has been deleted, so to know the main reason why your posts are deleted, the person that could have reported your post will have the perfect answer to this, or the moderator that deleted it.
That's not true, you can see his replies that have been deleted. For example, bold part is his reply that was deleted. Each time your post is deleted by mods or by starter of self moderated thread (automated messages you get make distinction between those two) you get a copy of the post that was deleted. I guess you didn't have the pleasure of having posts deleted yet Wink

So it's the standard to approach from dating plataforms...omg. Even if I videocalled with her...
They will try to approach you in any way possible: dating platforms, Fcaebook, Telegram etc. There was a similar case to yours recently, where one member was approached in almost the same way, through dating platform. Scammers are pretty inventive sometimes and those more experienced and patient ones can play long game. They will chat with you for weeks if needed, trying to earn your trust, and then slowly start steering conversation towards investment opportunities and when you see that, run like hell and don't look back as it can only mean one thing.

That numbers really looks inflated tho? I am beeing able to withdraw at the moment but scared that I won't be able to touch the inicial investment after the lock period just.
Staking platform that I never heard of, that is one month old, with 34+ million USD staked, no social media presence whatsoever, the only way to contact them is through email etc..All this simply doesn't add up and to me looks like just another scam that is conveniently using DeFi name to ride the hype train, and we've seen quite a few of those lately.

I started working from the bottom of the list and going up the list, covering so far the ANNs from 77 to 66. But even after spam is deleted, other new spam posts appear... it's a sort of Sisyphus work. If anyone want to join in this huge workload, feel free to do so.
You are doing a great job there despite looking like a Sisyphus work more often  than not. Mods delete 15-20 freshly written spam posts and next day similar amount of posts show up again, looking lika a whack a mole game. But ocassionally after enough tagging and reporting spammers give up, or those that hire them stop paying as they see its not working since posts are constantly deleted and  topic contained in 1-2 pages since there is no real interest.

As you said in that other topic, maybe we should coordinate our efforts so we don't waste time with double reporting as that's probably happens sometimes.

Sorry to say but this looks like just another scam platform, especially considering the way you were approached and talked into investing.

First of all, girl contacting you through dating platform (in this case Tinder) is their standard practice. First they say that they just want to be your friend etc but sooner or later conversation will turn to investment opportunity which you can't miss, as in your case.

2nd, they are showing of with some big numbers, considering the fact that their domain is only 1 month old

And here are their numbers, that seem inflated and fake, just to attract new users

If I am you, i wouldn't invest anything else that you already did, no matter what they say to you.
