5541  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: January 16, 2022, 03:00:08 PM
Yeesh but we had some really close calls with Brentford. Still on a knife's edge I'd say. Enjoying possession, but really careless almost arrogant passing from the back to give some great chances to Toney and co, but we've paid off with a goal from a setpiece. As long as we keep their corners count low, we should be fine. Two more goals, Jota and Hendo, and I'm very happy!

Meanwhile, Leeds, damn Harrison!

@tokes I'm always laying into Fred but he seems to be a tick or two better under Rangnick? My imagination?
5542  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 16, 2022, 01:55:38 PM
Woohoo, 1 point and the only one to back Verona. Too bad it was 4-2, impossible to have guessed even a close score really, but still, a point's a point. Now on to see if Venezia really found a way back to score...

@morvillz7z, I'm surprised that Genoa gave him so little time. On the other hand, considering how many managers they have changed in recent years. I don't see big chances for Genoa to stay in league, unless something extraordinary will happen.
I loved Shevchenko as player and I liked what he has done with Ukraine national team, but I think that going to club like Genoa was mistake for him.

Didn't even know this happened! Also one of my favourite players this guy, not to mention the memories he helped contribute to us when he was at Milan (he said it gave him literal nightmares for months after though).

I keep thinking why clubs shoot themselves in the foot like this. Unscramble your mentality, put yourself into debt. Only winner is the manager who gets compensation for such a little time investment.
5543  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Fear Index at 10 on: January 16, 2022, 01:34:53 PM
Fear/Greed Index wasn't working out as it should be in 2020, didn't pay much attention to it last year, rally invalidated everything, but seems like that 10 hasn't let down now.

I've always wondered how this Fear&Greed index is being calculated.Emotions like fear and desires like greed cannot be mathematically measured.

Everything can be measured, they use a lot of sentiment analysis behind it, but yeah, that's always a bit suspect for me as most algos can't differentiate between botspam, trolling and actual hopium (heh). I tested two different social sentiment tools for work some time last year and there was just a hell lot of false positives/negatives. Keyword detection too simplistic. Especially when Bitcoin is used just as a hashtag on unrelated posts.
5544  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: January 16, 2022, 12:27:34 PM
Just to remind everyone, a new 4-3-free happens every AFCON matchday, so don't forget to do it every day! I've already won 2 freebets, one $50 and one $10, pretty "easy" to pick the favourite, a low score and a late card, just the corner count is pretty random in AFCON.

Knowing all that I took it as well. I did not read the promo rules before today and I thought we can choose our champion and then I would have gone with somebody else. As it stands, we should at least get first free bet since Osorio should be passable even injured. After that it will get though, maybe one more win against Brengle/Yastremarska but then she will have to play Bencic which could already be too much. And after Bencic there is Barty which is impossible if she is not in top form and she is far from that. If I had to call it now I would say 2 free bet for us, but hopefully she will hit her stride and get better. Grand slams give you a day of rest between matches which helps a lot with taking care of slight injuries and building up your form.

Same here, I opted in almost automatically like I do for all these promos. But I'd have preferred it for men's, and now Djoko's accepted the decision to leave, I guess everyone left is licking their chops. Good luck with your picks, I might end up putting bets on AO on live betting if I manage to sneak in games during work. Aussie time is very weird though, I'll be asleep on the first games last I checked.
5545  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🎰 Sportsbet.io 🎰 "Soccer Blackjack" @ 21.00 odds on: January 16, 2022, 11:12:48 AM
Anyway, today is Liverpool again it seems like a favorite option. Can their lowly squad win for us @LFC_Bitcoin @buwaytress ?

Soccer Blackjack #397: Liverpool v Brentford
https://sportsbet.io/sports/event/sportsbet-specials/daily-specials/soccer-blackjack/liverpool-fc-brentford-fc-61e2dabb72c4314f3ea21fdd

A firm yes for me. I have the unfortunate urge to put max bet on every Liverpool game, which hasn't worked out badly, given that it's "only" been 9 Liverpool busts and that famous Old Trafford Blackjack, so I can afford another 11 Liverpool busts to break even.

We may be low on goals but if we play as we do, we should get a high corner count regardless. A Blackjack today would be really, really sweet.
5546  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 16, 2022, 10:36:47 AM
Urgh yeah, was looking forward to Arsenal-Spurs to end the weekend, but now we've got another bunchup. Spurs the poor victims again, just can't catch a break. Really hope we get a good game today, took too many risks in the predictions to try and widen the distance so hope at least one or two risks pay off.

Today i was thinking this might be the best week yet. But late goals killed me. I didnt see so many late goals that killed me for a long time. Wolves score in 91st minute ,Newcastle conceded in 88th minute. Man Utd same conceded in last minutes. Pure unluck this week

It affected quite a lot of us, but gave a lot of others great points too. Imagine, from 0 points to getting 3 exact on Newcastle's 1-1... and for guys like us to get 3 points to 0 in one moment and one goal eh?

Even Wolves disappointed me, when was the last time they scored 3 goals in EPL? And see, we need to lay into Adama Traore hard, so he scores!
5547  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Changing my Thoughts And Behaviors. on: January 16, 2022, 09:31:15 AM
Lately, I discovered I don't find any discussion that is not Bitcoin-related interesting and start loving more privacy than crowd or working with people who are not Bitcoin enthusiasm motivating.
They say birds of the same features flock together and its just fair you mingle with people of the like minds to share and exchange your thoughts on everything crypto and just make new friends in this niche.

Agree.

I would advise you to keep your day jobs and hobbies though. I can understand Bitcoin (and privacy) has become a passion for you, but don't let those displace existing passions. Or you'll find that your preoccupation is less and less about what makes Bitcoin special, and more about an incentive for you to give up your existing loves. Then you'll start putting it into financial terms, then your interest becomes market oriented.

Don't judge people anyway just because they're not enthused by Bitcoin (hell, I wasn't at first).

GBfund is up 95 ETH in last 2 weeks at bitvest.

I am so happy for him since he lost alot of crypto when bit exo did their scam exit and too GB's crypto.

Does GB have a bct forum name here? Also knew him from Bit exo, shame about that site, I never really returned once the Moneypot fallout prevented most of their affiliated apps from making it big. Speaking of whales, quite a big hitter on LTC today too. Definitely RIP our invests heh.

And I just made a BTC withdrawal today. Seems like hotwallet issue's fixed for my last stretch of withdrawals.

Nice to see the shitposting here peter out too.
5549  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: January 15, 2022, 05:09:49 PM
Aussie Open finally got the promo posted!

And it's my natural pick. Same as before (forgot which tournament) but 1 mbtc on Osaka and you get 0.25 mbtc every time she wins. So I guess it's a nice 4 wins at least I'm sure to get your money back eh? Barteigh's the favourite here but Osaka wasn't the last time I picked her either. 8.15 on boost, sweet odds I think!
Only problem with that bet is that Osaka will quite possibly miss AO this year Smiley She forfeited semi final the other day to to abdominal injury. Not sure what the actual injury is but abdominal injuries are usually a bit on lengthy side in my experience. Would not be surprised if she shows up, plays one game (game not match), forfeits and gets the attendance check. Just enough to kill your bet.

The other thing is she will play against Barty very soon in the draw if they both progress as expected.

This is why I need to take a break from betting (actually December and January so far I'm being a lot less active in terms of numbers and amounts actually). When you're busy with life and come back to bet and get distracted by promos, you throw money away.

Hope the bookies underrated her chances and injuries though. And hope she puts the nonsense behind her, and doesn't become Rashford. I mean, I sympathise, but the best way to overcome some problems is to simply just win at your sport. Anyway, we find out in 2 days.

Or it's bye bye 1 mbtc (that's not so bad right haha).

5551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who creates more impact in bitcoin price the Hodlers or Investors? on: January 15, 2022, 03:58:14 PM
I doubt that there is a difference between HODLERS and INVESTORS.

I know "hodlers" and I know investors. The main difference to me? The former actually have sole access to private keys, and have most likely in the past used Bitcoin (to buy or pay for stuff) or continue to do so on occasion. The latter probably only have some form of Bitcoin derivative (a stock or pegged-asset or whatever or an account on some platform that says they have Bitcoin but doesn't give them actual access or control).

Investors probably have more market impact short term. Holders, as users, contribute to long term value.

My couple of satoshis, anyway.
5552  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 15, 2022, 03:21:57 PM
Sigh. I knew it would be dull, but not this dull. Like you said Trofo looked like both just wanted a draw but KDB as usual pulls a rabbit out of the hat for Pep.

Chelsea hedge bet did not work out, by least got a point from this yawn win. Thought City might get a wake up call but on they march. And a number of you got exact scores too. Sorry, Welsh but there you go. Hope Villa at least gets the other Manchester team tonight.

Only bet left for me is a long acca with first leg won thanks to Citeh. January blues, let's say.

Edit: aaaand ruined as Norwich got 2 goals in the time I wrote this. Heh.
5553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Brazilian mayor to reportedly invest 1% of city funds in Bitcoin on: January 15, 2022, 02:15:54 PM
Is it cynical to treat all news like this as popularity moves and back chanelling to secure backing? You want to make lives a little bit better for your citizens, great. But I hardly think making crypto investments (again, note there actually isn't any specific Bitcoin intent) see the elite as benefactors, especially in a place hardly known for transparency. Not to point fingers since my own country sits very low in Transparency Index...

Bitcoin is not a magic wand to fix economic problems. Politicians are either naive or deceptive if they claim it does.
5554  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Quora Bengali is killing bitcoin on: January 15, 2022, 01:16:38 PM
Quora's changed in the last couple of years -- it's definitely very pro Bitcoin and crypto. The most viewed answers in finance now are in crypto.

But the caveat is the bulk of Quora profiles are spambots trying to game SEO. Take a look at even the most viewed answers and they're crap. Very, very few are actually to the average standards of this forum. If you think the altcoin section here is bad, Quora is a madhouse.

Not saying Quora's shit, but it's pretty shit for Bitcoin. Those Bengali posters you're talking about? Believe me, they're blackhat SEO bots and doing the same crap in other topics. It's not a fight worth your time.
5555  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🌍⚽Sportsbet AFCON prediction pool discussion thread on: January 15, 2022, 12:40:13 PM
These generations are toothless, and I miss players like Emenike of Nigeria, Drogba of Ivory Coast, Cessie of Senegal, Gyan of Ghana, and Smauel Etoo of Cameroon hitting and lighting up the front of their respective national teams. Today's strikers are all toothless and sluggish in front of the net.

The pool is becoming more difficult to forecast, and the underdogs are reaping the benefits.  Grin

Yeah. I stubbornly kept to my predictions even after witnessing the results AND style of the first Matchday, but anyway, we didn't put anything in this pool so I don't mind keeping to my usual style, but entertainment wise, I also feel pretty cheated, especially when you compare this to how they were playing during qualifiers.

Today's strikers are good, just no longer playing in the formation or style of past editions. Why, I've no idea. We gotta blame the coaches as Trofo says. It's even more frustrating when you saw how Senegal played in last WC, or let's even say outsider like Tunisia who still played to score against European teams and now lose miserably to what, Mali (and yes the ref was shit but the team was shittier)?
5556  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +78295 units on: January 15, 2022, 12:23:31 PM
Late late pick but couldn't resist the way odds jumped up for Chelsea against City, and boy do they need to win this one to keep all of our hopes alive for a City post-midway slump heh. Why not double our stakes too?

200 units at Fairlay on Chelsea to WIN vs City @5.62. Other odds: 5.10
Units advantage: 52

Running advantage after 100 bets: +11339 (+52)
All-time cumulative: +78,687
Running units after 99 bets (13W|86L): +2673 (-100)
5557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tonga to copy El Salvador’s bill making Bitcoin legal tender, says former MP on: January 15, 2022, 11:43:31 AM
They're just joining their neighbours who a couple of years ago offered citizenship for Bitcoin (makes me curious to see just how many new Pacific Islanders are there for their Bitcoin) so they're already up over 100% on those investments if they never sold.

Makes for fancy headlines but their long-term fates haven't been changed. Economic diversification is the only route to salvation, not Bitcoin evangelisation.
5558  Economy / Speculation / Re: Supercycle or Halving cycle still? on: January 15, 2022, 10:33:57 AM
Yeah I have been thinking more and more that the cycle as we know it could very well be over. A few firsts have already happened... First time the rally lasted longer than a year (by my calculations anyway) if we see now as still a yet to subside rally. First time we saw barely 3x gain of ATH to ATH.

A big move down and a failure this year to continue gains would confirm another cycle I would say.

I can wait =)
5559  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 15, 2022, 09:24:03 AM
Nice exacts for a few of you swogerino, Joca, hahay and captain Wink

we are taking Norwich at home, maybe that should be a decent match and a chance for Gray to prove his value

regarding United and Villa, not sure, but United has to start winning sometime soon, maybe this weekend is the moment

As long as we don't force another red card and then have to break down a fort, we should be all right. Compliments to Norwich, they still come out of the blocks trying to fight, for better or worse.

And on United starting a winning streak well, Villa's also got to start theirs soon to hold off the panic tide.
5560  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: January 14, 2022, 09:09:13 PM
3-0 up and they just had to let Freiburg get back into the game, of course Haaland needed to retain the GD. No other game available for me to see so I switched to my rare German football once AFCON had ended. This right after watching Gladback get the better of Bayern too. Should still expect Bayern to win their game in hand, and steamroll to the end but Freiburg will rue their chance to cement their UCL spot (heh).

Actually only realised today after checking the table how badly Leipzig are doing! 15 points off 2nd place, what?
