5581  Other / Meta / Re: Request for Nigeria local board on: February 08, 2021, 09:10:20 PM
As I meant earlier. Not everyone can speak and understand foreign language fluently and local board are a place for them to absorb information about crypto. I believe the local board will be of great use to them and there are also no limit and limit for good English speakers to contribute there too.
You are right by your comment, local board is a means of providing means many people from your country can get access to more information online from posting activities in local board. But if we check this from another angle, local board does not suppose to necessarily mean posting in local languages. Let me make an example, central bank of Nigeria ban cryptocurrencies now, local board will be a good board for Nigerians to discuss what they can do in a way they can bypass the central bank of Nigeria and yet still making use of cryptocurrencies and fiat together, we know p2p is the next in line but they will be able to discuss the best p2p to be used in Nigeria or which are best in Nigeria at this time on their local baord. It can be in English or Pigin like they said, but the information discussion in their local baord will be able to become more accessible to people broswing from Nigeria.
5582  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigerian Bitcointalk Community Hangout. {Current topic: NIN & Local board} on: February 08, 2021, 08:57:15 PM
For the merit chart, we no too dey chest merit like water for here base on say na only one source we get, if to say source plenty kperere, we for don reach far for the chart, no be lie.
No be only on source dey cause the low merit activity for our local thread, if to say we don get local board na, you go see how posts and activities for our side go increase, quality topics and posts go dey, this go make our board more active than before. Na waiting go make the merit increase. Make we dey hope for better tomorrow as some other Nigerians go apply for merit source, na guess oh but waiting I believe go later happen.
5583  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nigeria government did not ban bitcoin on: February 08, 2021, 08:49:01 PM
Anyway, the decision is confusing and against the trend.
The central bank of Nigerian do not know much about cryptocurrencies, they also do not have experienced people that can explain about cryptocurrencies to them. They refered to cryptocurrencies as anonymous, supoorting terrorism and money laundering, while it is very clear that the so called Boko Haram they are dealing with are using fiat to sponsor themselves, the fiat which is hold by the Nigerian banks. When they could not know what cryptocurrencies actually are, they made the bad and wrong decision that will get the country more behind.
5584  Other / Meta / Re: This shitty Merit System has ruined Bitcointalk and made it like Facebook on: February 08, 2021, 03:32:53 PM
The old quality of message boards that you can still see in Posts by Satoshi and many others (in OLD posts where people actually made thoughtful posts and did own research and posted about experiences) is now completely disappeared because people rather make posts thinking they will get a like, or to spam their X posts a week for their signature campaigns.
Check this forum very well, there are best post qualities always. Have you ever since meaningful bitcoin forum like bitcointalk? If there is, still can never be compared.

While its great to offer people a way to earn bitcoin, basing this so much on the merit system is the stupidest thing Bitcointalk has ever done and it has ruined these forums.
That is why bitcointalk is now having over 3 million users. The merit system helps to reduce shit posters, unlike 2017 as I heard where a single person will have 10 accounts. The more the account leading to shitposting.

Was a great time but until this system is changed I rather write in some old mailing lists or even to my own notepad because there I have control over my words and thoughts and am not influenced by retarded distractions as the Merit system.
I do not think you are needed. You are not theymos, not any of the staff, not Loyce V not any of the best members. You can be the one that needs this forum, not this forum that needs you.
5585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do if Bitcoin hits $1m in the future? on: February 08, 2021, 08:07:55 AM
It will never hit $1m in the future. That is what you would expect an 8 yo kid to ask.
You are just one of the beginners that underestimate bitcoin, if you look on how bitcoin is designed, it will later hit $1 million in the future, it will later be the world digital gold. Bitcoin is deflationary and also people are getting to know about it. Like me I have already been holding bitcoin, so I will not escape the gain to make before it got to such price if it will be early.
5586  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Potential scam alert on: February 08, 2021, 08:03:26 AM
This supposed to be in scam accusation board, or to help beginners in beginners and help board, but the right board for it is the scam accusation. You can just move down the thread and click on move topic, moving it to the right board.

I do not also have to take a look at the website, one of the ways to know scam sites are typo errors and other related errors in the ways of writing. Also because the site is new, they are 100% scam, never visit the site or you will be scammed.
5587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Once Bitcoin marketcaps has reached to a trillion alone, it will happen on: February 08, 2021, 07:56:52 AM
So.. once bitcoin hits a trillion marketcap, it automatically means that other cryptocurrencies will follow suit? That doesn't make sense at all. Outside of Ethereum, the marketcaps of certain cryptocurrencies are hugely dwarfed by bitcoin's marketcap(not to mention their marketcaps are really inaccurate due to the huge amounts that the devs hold).
I so much read about ChainLink, a coin that worth nothing before, it's price increase from less than $4 last year to more than $25 this year. This has been a great increase, I had to study about the coin, but I later found out that 80% of the coin is controlled by 125 wallets, this is so surprising to me, the coin can easily be manipulated. There are many of such cryptocurrencies out there, why we need to be careful of altcoins.
5588  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cz taking advantage of the Nigerian government ban on bitcoin wrongly. on: February 08, 2021, 07:39:43 AM
There was a better way he would had passed that information without trying to decieve the masses with the gesture of his exchange been secure meanwhile it just got hacked few months back. He showed focus on offering the trading trading service not wallet service..
Having our bitcoin and crypto on noncustodial wallets has been the best, we have the key and we have the coins, unlike using custodial exchanges which can lead to our account frozen or blocked, because the companies providing such service are the one in control while the exchanges can be hacked. Banks can be safer to keep money, but we should know that African banks like Nigerian banks are not safer, not because our money can be stolen but because of high rate of fiat devaluation in the country. Worth of $1000 in Naira in 10 years will likely devalued to $100, if such can happen, we are not just safe, naira is just a deflationary money.

That aside, from a friend of mine while in school and also from my sister last year, without leaking the pin and the long ATM card number, their bank account were hacked, my sister is very sensitive, I believe the fault is not from her side, but a country where sim swap can happen, also bank worker can become the attackers, which likely means that the hack was from the bank, banks are not that safe as we think, neither were custodial exchanges. We are safe until we have our private keys.

The best we can have is to have our private key with us, and control our funds, what Nigeria government are now try to make difficult for us, the main fault are from the Nigerian government/CBN. Binance did not freeze our funds and we can trader it to noncustodial wallets, but Nigerian banks are the ones making our lives miserable because our bank account linked to crypto exchanges will be blocked, no freedom but authoritarian set of leaders.
5589  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Want to use wasabi wallet to coinjoin or mixers are better on: February 07, 2021, 09:27:49 AM
Simply I will ask to use a reputed mixer. I can't recall the thread or post, but I have heard a few exchanges suspend an account due to funds transacted from CoinJoin.
Yes, I have read online about freezing of accounts due to coinjoin, here is another one posted above, I have heard several ccases of this and thinking to use mixers.

https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/ecud4w/binance_freezes_btc_linked_to_wasabi_coinjoin_and/

Using a mixer will be the best on my side, thank you all for your guidance.
5590  Economy / Economics / Re: PayPal cryptocurrency trading volume beyond expectations on: February 06, 2021, 11:21:46 AM
For those who want to invest in cryptocurrency, with small amounts such as $50 or $100, PayPal is a good option.
Your comment is totally inaccurate, the best to do is to get yourself a noncustodial wallet for investment. For small amount like the one above, online wallet can be good but for high amount, hardware wallet will be safer. Not you key not your coin is the saying, you can not also even use PayPal to send crypto to another wallet, you can only use it to buy and sell.
5591  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Which of the 3 Windows versions is best to install? on: February 06, 2021, 10:48:41 AM
I will advise you to use Linux OS  for privacy, but if you still want to use Windows OS for your electrum wallet, then you can try windows 10 which is the latest version. Having the updated version of software and OS is very important. There can even be attacks on some old OS due to further lack off support from the company that created the OS.
5592  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Please, never mind my questions. on: February 05, 2021, 04:24:24 PM
...
Thank you ranochigo, calculating bitcoin fee has been a problem for me ever since the beginning that I was learning about it. Please is there any book or guild that can be used to calculate bitcoin fee in a way I will be able to know how to calculate bitcoin fee even for inputs and outputs and also for sending from one bitcoin addresses to another.
5593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Please, never mind my questions. on: February 05, 2021, 03:19:12 PM
It is about fee paying using legacy, compatibility and segwit addresses.

Legacy- addresses that start with 1
Compatible- addresses that start with 3
Segwit- addresses that start with bc1

Which ones will the low fees, by using low, medium and high fee.

1. Sending from legacy to legacy addresses? I know this is the highest though
2. Sending from compatible to compatible addresses? I know this is medium though
3. Sending from segwit to sedwit? I know this is the lowest though.

But what about
4. Sending from segwit to legacy?
5. Sending from legacy to segwit?

The explanation from 4 and 5 will let me relate it to all other transactions to know how it works.
5594  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Want to use wasabi wallet to coinjoin or mixers are better on: February 05, 2021, 02:44:33 PM
...
Thanks for the answer, it is pretty now clear not to use wasabi for this, using a mixer will be better. The best is to never use wasabi wallet with custodial exchanges, there was a report I hear recently about this too that got me confused but now know to better use mixers.
5595  Economy / Service Discussion / Want to use wasabi wallet to coinjoin or mixers are better on: February 05, 2021, 02:24:12 PM
For privacy reasons I want to use wasabi wallet to cojoin, but I am still having doubt about it, I believe good members will be able to give me genuine answer to this.

Normally, I make use of exchange like binance to trade, I am thinking of moving my bitcoin on binance to my wazaybi wallet first and conjoin it into my electrum wallet. But, I will later still decide to send the bitcoin back to binance, trade, and still send back to wallet.

I am hearing that it is possible that if I coinjoin bitcoin transaction(s) that all those custodial exchanges can possibly freeze my account, is this true? Or I should use mixer instead.
5596  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Does Binance trip about using a VPN? on: February 05, 2021, 02:17:59 PM
Binance is the most trusted site in crypto from other exchange sites
Let us just make it 'binance is one of the most trusted exch he site. But let us remember that not our key not our coin.

But before using VPN you have to check which VPN you are running there are many VPNs that have access to the site.
Using VPN that connects to the IP of binance supporting countries should not give a problem while binance is supported by many countries.
5597  Other / Off-topic / Re: Just like I remembered on: February 05, 2021, 09:41:09 AM
I didn't mean any technical changes. I randomly read some threads and I get exactly the same vibe.

It's like when you come back home after being overseas for a year and it's still home; Even if they fixed that leaky tap in the bathroom.
If you contribute to your home there would be changes (but not bitcointalk in the regard because there are so many active users), but there can be many changes that might have taken place but not revealed so fast because you are far from home. Which just mean you have only just still visited not quite long but you are still far from home because there are many changes that took place but never seen that because you do not take time to check.

I went into your profile recently on bpip, you are not an active member, you have not been giving merit before, you have not also sent merit before even from the hero membership pregenerated ones. There are many posts that if you read, you will merit them, but because you do not read these posts and you do not contribute to this forum makes you not to know there are a lot of changes in the way people are posting. When the merit system began, you stopped posting and not active again since 2017 October, and only posted ones in 2019 before posting two times today. Likely you may still remain not active.

Check the forum very well and compare it to 2017 and see differences.
5598  Other / Meta / How can I check traffic on this forum on: February 03, 2021, 10:19:32 PM
I want to know if accessible to members of this great forum about the total number of people that visit this forum, daily weekly and monthly, both members and anonymous users. I also want to know if I can access each boards, each topics to know how many people have visited during a particular period.
5599  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin's price drop to 30K healthy? on: February 03, 2021, 08:47:06 PM
When people buy at ATH, they usually hold it till next ATH.  next ATH.
I too have great believe about bitcoin to be a deflationary currency but the price thing do not work the way you think.after all time high, anything can happen, and what will most likely happen is decrease of bitcoin price which is called correction, correction makes price movement healthy, and after long period again, the price of bitcoin will increase than the all time high, but it can take time for this while some wiser people will make stable coin as their safe haven during bitcoin price decrease and wait for the next pump.
5600  Economy / Economics / Re: Are Cryptocurrencies Really Money? on: February 03, 2021, 08:42:05 PM
Bitcoin was structured as alternative decentralized currency, it became real currency over time by people's acceptance. So it is all all about how and what people consider. If millions accept bitcoin (or other cryptocurrencies) while trading, then it is currency.
Money and currency are not the same, money has value while currency is just a physical representation of money. The value in money is the worth, bitcoin has the value, which means bitcoin is money. Gold, silver, fiat and anything that has value that amounts to a means of exchange and spendable are money. Bitcoin is just a typical example of money but in digital form.
