5583  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the price of Bitcoin reaching 500,000?(Ark Investment’s) on: May 21, 2021, 04:16:58 PM
Didn't ARK lose like 80% of their portfolio in the last crypto winter after predicting Bitcoin was going to some crazy number before? So hard to keep track now as all these crypto funds lost money like everyone else (some worse than others because they put big portions of their portfolio into alts).

Of course they have to come up with some ridiculous number in hopes of keeping their assets afloat;)
5584  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fighting the FUD of PoW versus Po(Insert favorite word here)!! on: May 21, 2021, 02:37:27 PM
Yes, there have been multiple instances of these masternode and PoS coins launching and disappearing. As you said, the one to watch out for is Ethereum going to PoS. I see very little about how it has planned for decentralization. Even if that works as a smart-contract platform, it'll only be because the people using it are familiar with BTC.

Yes! I can definitely say as a veteran of POS that just having the algorithm itself on its own and saying it is a cheap and efficient way to secure the network is not enough. Much less to be about decentralizaton (for example Vitalik owns a lot of ETH and many block validators will be huge ones). But I believe they will run different incentives to choose different and more diverse validators instead of just big ETH owners.
5585  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: May 21, 2021, 12:41:33 PM
So many rumors swirling around. I'm not sure what to make of Aguero possibly going to my club. Nice player but we really don't need veterans who get injured a lot to play in La Liga I think!

It would be really cool to see if next season all the clubs decide collectively they will not spend a lot of money so that prices can maybe start going down and "normalizing".
5586  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Latest FUD from Elon Musk: Tesla Has Diamond Hands on: May 21, 2021, 11:56:58 AM
Twitter needs a top celebrity ever since Trump stopped tweeting.

Audience is a form of capital - social capital. Concentrated in one man. On a privately owned social network. That is used as a public forum.
"I built it... so I own it."

McAfee. Then Trump. Then Elon. He will not be popular forever,,, and he will definitely lose a lot of his "fans" when crypto tanks or when DOGE loses people their life savings.

In a way he is right. He built this following so he deserves to own it,,, and just wait until the empire falls apart. That social capital which loves you will hate you back with equal force.
5587  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: May 21, 2021, 11:33:35 AM
honestly its sacks being Tuchel  right now because making the wrong call could mean no Champions League football next season.

Yeah, football is so unforgiving. They forget that when Tuchel took over they were in 9th place or something midtable, and looking like they would get out of Champions League. Two finals should have been enough to at least secure his job for next season, but I guess his main job should have been Champions League qualification. Sucks to be him indeed.
5588  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker Freerolls or Tournaments with Guaranteed Prize? Or what's your preference? on: May 21, 2021, 09:20:44 AM
I am really not sure if we should use the term "gambler" for people playing poker. Yes, okay, there are some people who soenst take poker seriously and just want to gamble,, but in general poker can be considered at a serious sports in my opinion. There is a luck factor, but there is also a specific amount amount of skill required.

And why not? I think poker players all consider themselves gambling. It's not a complete game of chance but you can't deny that there are big elements of chance anyway even with all the skill-based and come on, poker is a big casino staple after all. It is a sport for some people which is why they are pushing for it at Olympics even but seriously, nothing wrong with considering poker players gamblers:)
5589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: May 21, 2021, 07:57:59 AM
Atletico Madrid have never lost to Valladolid. There have been only 1 draws in the last 5 matches between the teams. The rest Atletico Madrid won. Also, Valladolid has injured and disqualified players who will not be able to help the team in the match against Atletico Madrid. I think everything will be decided in first half.

I don't really regard history and past H2H forms in this season, very strange records made and broken and I'm sure it's not a coincidence it's because of no crowds at stadiums and strange Covid bubbles BUT the fact Valladolid won't be able to play their full squad definitely means the onus is on Atletico.

Just as long as they keep their nerve that's all.
5590  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: index Monitor ? on: May 21, 2021, 07:01:38 AM
As user points out in 2nd response, you can follow several indexes of big exchanges (I actually never knew about Bitpanda) but in most cases you can even use Galaxy Digital index which is quoted by Bloomberg a lot.

I also used to use this in 2019: AVA crypto index based on top 10 baskets: https://www.avatrade.co.uk/trading-info/financial-instruments-index/cryptocurrencies/crypto-10-index
5591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ BitcoinPRBuzz.com's ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: May 21, 2021, 05:04:31 AM
Got my Superbru reminder yesterday so don't forget to make your last picks everyone. Only 2 games will matter in this final matchday of course and two teams from the city of Madrid will have every eyes on them.

I guess we can congratulate the pool winners for sure, but for now, good luck to everyone and don't look down on my performance too much;)
5592  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mixing your Bitcoin might become illegal in the future on: May 21, 2021, 03:55:13 AM
But mixing Bitcoin does not equal money laundering and the mere activity of going into a business and making your money trail more private? That can't ever be a crime. Otherwise our regular use of fiat is wrong.
It is even understandable that you don't want anyone else to know with whom you are doing business or with whom you are in touch. If you see a doctor and it would be possible to pay with Bitcoin on day, nobody wants that to be stored in the blockchain available for anyone to see and identify you. Even if you just buy a pack of cigarettes or alcohol, there is no point why anyone should be able to fully identify and analyze your behavior.
Exactly. Privacy and seeking privacy are not crimes. Criminal activity is always criminal activity. People need to stop confusing both as the same thing.

If I am doing a crime, what I do to hide it cannot be also automatically a crime. Wearing a face mask to hide my identity while in a bank could be a crime (to prevent making robbing a bank easier), I agree, but you cannot outlaw wearing face masks.

The problem with mixing though is that there is no other way for it so it can compromise with authorities, for me I wouldn't risk letting mixers loose knowing that they can be used for crimes like money laundering or tax evasions. Think of it like this, there is a bowl of with 100 M&Ms and around 20 of them are poisonous and will kill you instantly, no way to tell if they are poisonous, I am sure that no one is going to risk taking it unless they are suicidal or have a death wish.
I really can't see the link here. Your Ms are always poisonous, but mixing is not always poisonous. As I said in my example above, if mixing is always poisonous (to use your bad example), then your use of fiat is always poisonous (dollar bills and cocaine, for example).
5593  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: $9 Billion worth trades got liquidated in last 24 hours. on: May 20, 2021, 06:59:07 PM
It was one of the days that separate the 3 groups: professional traders, trader wannabes and lucky profit takers.
Probably the trader wannabes went through hell.
The professional traders had a rather bad days, but they'll recover.
The lucky ones bought the dip and maybe also sold already.

Actually, the problem with these types of volatility is that wannabe traders can become very lucky profit takers, thus seeing themselves as professional traders.

Pro traders probably lost a bit of money in this period if their stop losses all triggered, and if they bought the dip on some charts, based on last week, they would probably stop loss again.
5594  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fucking rich whoever bought bitcoin around $30,000 -$31,000 on: May 20, 2021, 06:24:38 PM
Imagine people who sold at the top and bought the dip. They're definitely laughing because the top is coming back and new tops is going to be ploughing through all this FUD.

Maybe not next week next month next year but eventually. That's the true beauty of Bitcoin I think. Patience wins the day and everything else is forgotten.
5595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fighting the FUD of PoW versus Po(Insert favorite word here)!! on: May 20, 2021, 02:21:39 PM
give it a couple weeks....
Elon will realise that instead of thinking: 20% of mining is in china.. and XX% of chinese residential electric is fossil fuel

he will realise that the mining farms are located in locations of renewable power grids.
he will realise that the mining farms dont even compete by using a share of the residential power allotment.but they buy up the excess 'capacity' which is never paid for before and just went to waste.

If Elon realizes these things then he isn't Elon.

Think about it. He buys Bitcoin and adds it and then later finds out it costs money to secure.

Then he jokes about DOGE and claims it's a hustle but then says he wants to work on the developers to make some improvements.

Then he thinks about energy efficient protocols.

He doesn't realize anything. He is told things and gets excited about things like a regular Twitter person with new toys.
5596  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's the motive behind the anti gambling campaign on: May 20, 2021, 12:49:44 PM
Maybe because the true winners are very few and far between?

But even so, I agree that the negative connotation about gambling shouldn't be always brought forth, only when necessary and trying to warn others. It brings food to a lot of tables at the expense of the money of those willing to lose it for the entertainment. Plus, the gambling industry also contribute millions, if not billions, to economies worldwide. While I get that people are trying to bring gambling to a negative light, at the end of the day, we are addicted to some forms of entertainment, to which gambling falls into as well.

True winners are definitely few. And of the few, very very few are winners in the true gambling sense (that they gambled and won a lot of money from pure luck and chance). Of the few, majority are professional gamblers who make a living out of gambling. They don't really need to win a lot, they just to entertain a lot. For example, poker players and even slots streamers and such;)
5597  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Latest FUD from Elon Musk: Tesla Has Diamond Hands on: May 20, 2021, 12:07:19 PM
The difficulty for some seems to be not being able to ignore Elon Musk as well as having amnesia with the volatility of bitcoin to the downside.

And the difficulty also extends to the entire corporate world outside of the "revolutionaries" of Bitcoin. Make no mistake about Elon, he is popular and cool and a tech guy but first and foremost a capitalist entrepreneur from a pure corporate world. Just look him up and how he treats his staff and workers, and what he thinks about "normal" people.

They see this as a plaything and people following them don't realize it.
5598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: May 20, 2021, 10:58:29 AM
Well that was a night for Liverpool wasn't it? One more win away (but they could still lose if Leicester somehow score 5 or more goals to nil against Spurs but we all know how unlikely that is.

Crystal Palace though and Benteke have already denied Liverpool once not too long ago, hope they don't go for another repeat that would be such a nightmare for Klopp.
5599  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker Freerolls or Tournaments with Guaranteed Prize? Or what's your preference? on: May 20, 2021, 10:40:19 AM
Any gambler will tell you that it's very different when you pay with your own money and pay with "free money". It really depends also some poker players play for fun and want to rush. Others are professional and can sit at a table for 12 hours straight. So the preference is down to the expectations of the player.

Me I like freerolls or SMALL buy in as I just want to be entertained and MAYBE win something.
5600  Economy / Speculation / Re: Everyone acting like there hasn’t been dips like this during a bitcoin bull mark on: May 20, 2021, 08:47:55 AM
Founder and CEO of Aerospace Michael Saylor tweets that the companies he controls have purchased a total of 111,000 BTC without selling any satoshi, only hard hodl. Smiley

He doesn't need to say it, but nice he did. He's a BTC maximalist anyway and not a speculator so we all know he's storing his company's value in BTC and believes in it long term.

Eventually the market will display the truth. Speculators sell and we get the real market value which is what we have today.
