561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: started btg mining with gtx1050, likelihood of ever getting a btg? on: November 19, 2017, 01:19:50 PM
Are you sure you bought GTX 1050? Cause it seems you have a GTX 1070 or 1070 Ti judging by the hashrate you're getting by the miner.
Anyway, it can take up to 60 days to get one BTG according to your hashrate given that difficulty stays the same.
562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1 GPU faster? on: November 19, 2017, 01:14:24 PM
I have 3 GTX 1060 6 gb gpu's of the same brand on one rig.
But there is one of them that mines considerably faster than the other 2, although they are all overclocked the same way...
I don't understand why there is one almost 25% faster than the other 2?

It can be because of different memory vendor and ASIC quality.
563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining BTX via GPU or CPU. on: November 17, 2017, 12:21:24 PM
GTX 1060 mining BTX at 10 MH/s consuming 75-80 w power.
CPU won't be able to mine as difficulty is high which makes mining from CPU obsolete.
564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 480 making me feel stupid on: November 17, 2017, 12:13:06 PM
Did you try swapping the riser to another x1 slot in the motherboard?
Did you try another riser or another riser version?
If nothing works, well use 480 as the main GPU on the x16 slot.
565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can anyone confirm a Skylake + Asrock 110+ and VEGA play nice together? on: November 16, 2017, 06:54:31 PM
Thank you. Just trying to avoid issues as the VEGAs seem to be riddle with small problems that can make troubleshooting hard Smiley

No issues! Don't forget to read some of VEGA GPU threads in here. They have tons of discussion to get the most out of VEGA GPUs.
566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can anyone confirm a Skylake + Asrock 110+ and VEGA play nice together? on: November 16, 2017, 06:10:56 PM
I'm using Skylake with BIOSTAR TB 250 BTC Pro and never faced any issues.
As the motherboard is similar, you shouldn't face any problems with using Skylake whatsoever.
567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Recommendations on a good motherboard for mining alt coins? on: November 15, 2017, 05:54:01 PM
All of my rigs rocks ASUS motherboards with Z270 chipset and LGA 1511 socket. ASUS Z270 Prime P is the way to go. Economical and can easily support up to 8 GPUs.
568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3+ Electrical Setup Requirements, can someone help? on: November 14, 2017, 04:05:40 PM
It comes down to available power from your electrical panel.
Let's say you have 30 Amps service with a 120 Volt connection, L3 will consume around 6.5-7 Amps. In that manner, you can run probably four with that panel.
If you have 30 Amps service with a 230 Volt connection, L3 will consume around 3.5-4 Amps. So, you can run around 8 or so.
Moreover, the above calculation is without your day to day electricity consumption, so consider it in your calculation before running.
569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Electroneum Mining Still Profitable with CPU on: November 13, 2017, 02:48:25 PM
Yes, it is.
Mining any coin is profitable until and unless you own the hardware and the electricity cost are not off the roof.
But the question you should ask if it is worth it?
No, mining with CPU is so 2010 and it won't mine substantial amount compared to GPUs.
You can still give CPU only coins a try.
570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Need pointers for mining ethereum on xubuntu 16.04 with on: November 10, 2017, 09:59:07 AM
Well, I guess I have to live with ~23Mh/s for now. However, I will definitely give try to nvOC, will set it up on a new disc to try out on same rig. Just wondering why he is using 15gb image while same can be done on less than 1 GB image (all the customization he has done in image)

However, I have seen trend that sometimes in night I see system freezing, can't connect remotely however, If found that Xorg was using 100% cpu while  GPUs were  all gone from nvidia-smi  . Only hard restart fixed the issue , any idea what could be the issue ?

Yeah, I know 15GB image file for Linux Distro with every software related to mining. It is kind of a large file but it works pretty well. I'll recommend to flash it in 32 GB USB drive for better stability.

The problem with Xorg might be related with ./Xmodmap
Here are a few links for you to check them out and see if this is the culprit behind the freeze:

571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Need pointers for mining ethereum on xubuntu 16.04 with on: November 09, 2017, 09:34:29 AM
For me, it is kind of confusing, I have set offset 1250 , I can get around ~23.6 Mh/s however, have to set PL to 80W, anything less than that reduces mining rate. Further, if I try to push memoryclock further, lets say, 1400, then miner starts showing error and soon system freezes.

On 65w, I get 17 Mh/s only.

Seems I can't push more than 23.6 Mh/s , no matter what settings.

Oh! It's okay, every card is different and the highest hashrate you can get depends solely on ASIC quality of the GPU.
The difference between the numbers can be because I got my numbers using nvOC distro.
I still recommend you to give nvOC a try and see if you can get more from your system.
572  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Need pointers for mining ethereum on xubuntu 16.04 with on: November 08, 2017, 08:44:47 AM
Thanks mate for for suggesting nvOC, had given it good consideration but then dropped the idea preferably because I had already done things I need. Only stuck in few tit-bits and hence asked help here.

I know that Xorg is quite versatile and you can do headless setup, just wanted good pointer. Have been already managing it through SSH and am more comfortable with it.

Alright already using GpuPowerMizerMode=2 as per nvidia-smi , saying P2 under GTX

For OC, I am not sure who to know make of VRAM in Linux , as I can get around ~23.6 , I suppose its Samsung. What about PowerLimit , currently I am on 80W ?

Btw, little Off-Topic, any advice which dual mining I should consider with ETH at the moment. Sia looks useless, however, in trial was able to get ~22.1 Mh with ETH along with SIA ~300 Mh/s with dcri of 40

For VRAM, just set the above clocks, if they are stable at the given clock speeds, then it has the corresponding VRAM vendor. If you have Samsung, just push it more to get 24.5 MH/s which is possible.
Set power limit to 65W. GPUs should work perfectly fine at 65W for mining ETH.

I wouldn't suggest dual mining because it will draw much more power than single mining, you'll likely face stability issues. Moreover, Single mining at 24.5 MH/s with 65W will be a bit more profitable than mining ETH at 22 MH/s and SIA at 300 MH/s at 80W. Just place these values in whattomine and you'll understand.
573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Need pointers for mining ethereum on xubuntu 16.04 with on: November 07, 2017, 12:15:18 PM
If you don't want any headaches setting up Linux for mining environment, I will suggest you give nvOC a try. It's a prebuilt Linux distro with everything ready for mining.

1. I'll suggest getting a dummy plug because it's good for the long run and it'll cost 8 USD and it'll save you a ton of time configuring for a headless mode.
2. GpuPowerMizerMode=2 for better hashrate.
3. Use OpenSSH.
4. Core Overclock: -300 and Mem Overclock: +1600 for 24MH/s. (GTX 1060 Samsung Mem)
Core Overclock: -300 and Mem Overclock: +1000 for 22.5MH/s. (GTX 1060 Micron Mem)
Core Overclock: -300 and Mem Overclock: +200 for 17MH/s. (GTX 1060 Hynix Mem)
574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin gold mining is profitable? on: November 07, 2017, 12:03:42 PM
Bitcoin Gold is still running their test net and they haven't launched their main net yet. So, you will have to wait for a few days to start mining Bitcoin Gold.
575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New coins release on: November 05, 2017, 03:11:49 PM
It is not that simple. You will have to look for a gold mine in the thread of ANN

Like looking for a needle in a haystack.
576  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Power supply issues on: November 05, 2017, 03:09:18 PM
Hmmmm... Same result. I wonder should I just run a paperclip between between the two pins. Not the safest though...

Post an image of your configuration to tackle the problem more clearly. Moreover, just give an order for add2psu as if above doesn't work, this will surely do. It'll cost you around 1.5-2 USD an adapter.
577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to mining electroneum on: November 04, 2017, 11:25:36 AM
You have to create an offline wallet, which you can get from here under Offline wallet generator.
https://downloads.electroneum.com/

Once created, using Claymore Cryptonote for AMD or Ccminer for Nvidia, point your miner to ETN pool with your public wallet address created above.
https://etn.uax.io/#

Download Electroneum CLI Zip, Sync the blockchain, Use your Offline wallet keys to import it in Electreneum CLI wallet. After it's done, you can transfer your mined ETN to exchange sites.
578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What to buy for a mining a rig/Just a GPU(graphics card) or? on: November 02, 2017, 07:57:59 AM
There are infinite threads and videos on assembling, components and so forth. All just a google search away. Anyway, try 1stminingrig.com, they have enough posts to cover your query!
579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anybody sucessfully set any X11 ASIC miner for mining Groestlcoin ? on: November 01, 2017, 09:15:27 AM

That should be possible while every X11 ASIC miner has groestl chip onboard.

And really profitable right now...

I don't think so that new mining algorithms supported by the newest model of Baikal miner is backwards compatible with previous generation miners. There has to be some kind of alteration in the hardware itself to make it work with new algorithms like groestl.
580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can I get some tips or suggestions on GPU for mining? Budget varied on: October 31, 2017, 08:48:58 AM
Pretty much like I thought. But thumbs up for a good explanation. To the discussion on quality of risers - the problem with risers melting. Is this due to internal current/data transfer in the cables, or from heat from GPUs?

The melting of riser can be for various listed reasons.
1) The power type of the riser and the power flow.
i.e, A SATA string can handle up to 54 watts of power safely on one point of connection. A SATA string in total can draw up to 110 watts of power from PSU safely. So, If I use a SATA string to connect two risers with GTX1060 GPUs on them which draw around 35-40 watts of power from the riser, totalling to 70-80 watts. I'm fine using SATA connection for my riser in long run.
Another scenario, I use a single SATA string to connect two 1080ti, which consume a little over 65 watts each. I'm just waiting for fireworks in my rig in long run. I'll have to turn over to MOLEX which can handle up to 70 watts at one point of connection and can draw around 154 watts from PSU. So, a MOLEX strand to power two 1080tis with the riser. Moreover, six pin risers are the best possible solution out there but hard to come by.

2) Quality of risers.
i.e, There is no way to check the quality of risers that I know of, but I have a box of black coloured and blue coloured risers. I prefer the black ones. They are more sturdy in feel. All the risers that I've used, I'll recommend not using that cheap SATA to MOLEX convert that comes with the pack. They are the worst of all and the main reason of melting. On further inspection, I saw they were made of Aluminium which is not the best metal for electrical conductivity.

3) Wrong placement of x1 adapter in motherboard.
i.e, I've seen many first timers plugging the x1 adapter in wrong place on their motherboard which resulted in instant failure and damaging of motherboard or GPU. Don't ever make that kind of mistake and always double check before starting your system.

Friendly advice, don't go into mining if you can't afford 6 GPUs. If you start with 2-3 and plan to upgrade with profits, it will take much more time and it won't be as profitable. Most people don't take into account that mining profits with certain GPU fall over time.

Pretty well said!
