561  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread june 7 to june 20 -picks are closed!!.... prize = 0.20 btc on: June 10, 2016, 12:57:23 PM
Morning Bitwisdom:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    196,061,423,940
Estimated Next Difficulty:    199,935,750,265 (+1.98%)
Adjust time:    After 1654 Blocks, About 10.9 days
Hashrate(?):    1,447,205,112 GH/s

So if it is right I would still be happy with a small positive.  BTC prices have been pretty stable really over past few day's.  It may go up or down a little but it's remained at high 570's for most of the current period.
562  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 7 on: June 10, 2016, 12:55:07 PM
Am I the only one worried that this Shandong Luyiton company now owns Canaan Creative and is also in bed with Bitmain?

How are they in bed with Bitmain?

I'm also wondering if the Caanan purchace was 466 million DOLLARS equivilent, 466 million YUAN (which is a lot less, though still seems a little high unless Caanan was a LOT further along on their 14/16nm chip than I thought they could be), or 466 million what - I can't find out which of those is the actual amount anywhere I've looked.

I'm not sure.  It's just from what I read in this article http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-mining-asic-acquired-avalon/

In a separate Twitter post, Jihan Wu, CEO of China-based bitcoin mining firm Bitmain, reported that the firm was to be publicly listed through its relationship with Shandong Luyitong, and that it is seeking to raise ¥0.67bn at a valuation of ¥3.1bn.

The author of that article appears to have MISread or MISunderstood that twitter post - the Twitter post is about AVALON/Caanan Creative seeking to raise that 0.67billion Yuan, NOT Bitmain.

Isn't it fun to deal with very sloppy standards of journalism that fail to check facts before they report them IN ERROR?

I read it that way at first aswell but I think it was just not typed clearly on "In a separate Twitter post, Jihan Wu, CEO of China-based bitcoin mining firm Bitmain, reported that the firm was to be publicly listed through its relationship with Shandong Luyitong, and that it is seeking to raise ¥0.67bn at a valuation of ¥3.1bn."

I think that part where the firm is referring to Avalon especially if you read tweet.  So I think it is possibly not best word selection but not an error.

https://enshop.bitmain.com/product.htm to purchase the most efficient miners on the planet. For a noobie I would 100% recommend the "ANTMINER S7-LN with power supply" because it comes with everything you need (except some little power cord for the PSU) and is very cheap, good efficiency and also very silent. That PSU alone is worth $180... They also run THE ONLY legitimate cloud mining service as well, which is my personal favorite, https://www.hashnest.com/

I will never pay $180 for that piece of crap PSU. For that amount of money, you can buy a nice EVGA 1300W PSU. Again, the PSU on the Antminer S7-LN is a craptastic piece of garbage, you would do well to replace it right when you get it. In fact, you should just buy a regular S7, take out a blade and sell it, you will get much better value.

What is behind your hate for Bitmain?  I am just curious you seem to be anti anything Bitmain.  Making it sound like a item that is burning down houses on S7 (when I have not seen that yet):
S9 had been released and will ship on June 12th, in 4 days. Trouble is it's crappy, why everyone thinks it's mother's milk, I don't know. Bitmain hasn't released anything of quality and value since S3. Their S5 and S7 have sold well but that doesn't mean jack shit. Oftentimes, their gear goes up in flames if you look at it funny. China-built, China-quality. I hope you buy them and your house goes up in flames. Don't blame me, I told you so.

To just bashing a good psu.  I have used these Bitmain APW3 and have had good luck with them.  They are not for everyone with the need of 205V + and noise.  But for me personally I have had no issues.  And running them through winter and summer at this point.   Have you used a APW3 for any amount of time?

I am here just waiting for another inflation for bitcoins...I just realized that when btc price increases, altcoin price decreases?..

Not really in that sense.  Altcoin's may stay the same value say in USD or other fiat value.  But if BTC receives a big jump the altcoin might stay steady with USD value and you don't lose money.  But you did not gain money with the BTC surge.

This is part of reason I suggest not going altcoin crazy right now.  I would set back and see what BTC does leading up to and after having.   But altcoins still hold the allure of getting big percent jumps.
565  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Apart from earning BTC, What is BTC upto? on: June 10, 2016, 02:19:00 AM
Hi Experts,

I really love BTC and its benefits. I would like to know, why and for what the BTC was brought to the screen. What is it really up to? and the goal of creating this?

I suggest taking a look at a website such as this: https://bitcoin.org/en/ It will do a good job as far as showing you what BTC brings to the table.  Some of it I think is rather obvious, other parts are more subtle.

But starting reading with a site like that and then coming back with a more specific question I think we would be able to help you out a lot more.  Current question is just very broad and so many different answers to it.
566  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Techniques on Earning BTC?? on: June 10, 2016, 02:15:50 AM
You can join an affiliate program:  https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bitcoin_Affiliate_Programs

This is very hard to get into though as someone new. You have to ask why would someone use the new person's referral link to X service what do they get out of it?   I'm sure there are some that make a lot off referrals but I think it's a small subsection of a "elite group".

Also posting with referral kinda is harder to gain trust, you will look like your doing it for personal gain.  I just see a lot of uphill battle's to become very profitable.

It all comes down to your initiative and how bad you want it.  Lots of the programs offer benefits to the referee and the referrer.   I personally avoid cloud mining and gambling affiliate programs, but there are plenty of legit programs that you can make money with.

For example Bitfinex.com is one of the top bitcoin exchanges in the world, well known and trusted.  If someone uses my bitfinex referral code (iJEOS8Lrjo) when they signup, they will get a 10% fee discount for 30 days and I will get 10% commission on their fees for life.

It is certainly an uphill battle but definitely more productive than faucets and there is no risk involved since your startup costs are zero.

But if they offer this to everyone out there why would people use you over someone else?  I would think someone well known who is really active in helping with in that case bitfinex would get a lot of the referrals.

I don't see users being able to jump in and compete on referrals even then.  So even then everyone has the same offer.... it comes to competing for referrrals.  And if you get referral happy you could be breaking forum rules posting it all over without a non referral link.

If you don't mind me asking how long have you had the referral code and how much has it made? I would think for most it's a small amount.
567  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where can I invest? on: June 10, 2016, 02:11:23 AM
I have not had much luck investing in altcoins because it's hard to know which ones will do well until they have already made their gains. I prefer to stick with bitcoins but you have to time it right to get a good price.

Only one I see as a pretty good bet is Ether.  I see a LOT of investments currently going in with miners and GPU machines to mine it.  So we know there is a good sized amount actively using the coin which is good.   I see a activity community around the coin as very positive.   It makes smaller chance of pump/dump.   Don't get me wrong it's far from sure bet, but it has my eye.

BUT the big thing is investing now right before having seems kinda not best time if your converting BTC to Ether or any other altcoin.  We have seen a pretty good size jump up in past month.   So if we continue to see gains in BTC if you invest in other coins you could miss out big vs just holding BTC.
568  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: June 10, 2016, 02:02:43 AM
Hi all,

I have an S3+ that looks kinda stuck on startup. (Lan green light is on, and the red led flashing nonstop)

I found some instructions on the web saying I could connect to the S3 with a serial module and debug it....

I got myself a CP2102 usb 2.0 to uart module serial converter and I install putty... but the thing is that I dont know anything about the both of it....

Is there someone that could help me try to revive my S3... (Taugeran's revival guide is lacking a lot of vital information for a newbie like me....)

Anyone from bitmain could help ?!?!?! (contacted the support, but all they said it's send back the controller)

Thanks all, this would be very much appreciated !!!

Assuming your are in US and having trouble doing this I would take a look at BitmainWarranty.   You can contact them on the forum or via website - https://bitmainwarranty.com/ .   But assuming S3 board works fine and just a bad flash you should be able to send in and get it reflashed.

I would think at least  I have not checked on this specific procedure with them.  But hit them up and I think you will have good results.
569  Other / Meta / Re: Maybe a way to verify yourself? on: June 10, 2016, 01:58:54 AM
so we will see under our name "verified seller"
nice idea, Im sure some seller interesting to verif his self..

It would be abused and have one more thing mods/admins have to do.   And I think it would be all for nothing.  Even being verified people are willing to scam/default BTCJam is a perfect example of that.  Some just don't care what their online name brings up.   So verifying a scammer.... he is still a scammer.

Also photoshop will make this pretty hard as people will submit fakes. And what if a verified user defaults or does not provide the item sold?   It is still going to be hard to get money back.

The trust system is best we can really have. It allows you to track a user if they have done deals in past, and escrow.  I think escrow beat's this system by far it put's a known middleman to make sure deal is real.   So I think with trust and escrow all the tools are already there we need to have successful trades.  Getting verified sounds like a lot of work for very little actual gain.
570  Other / Meta / Re: Locked my account on: June 10, 2016, 01:52:45 AM
Is it really worth it

To get back your old account: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=220123 I would think so with being Sr. Member that is not something you are going to be able to get back to quick.

Again it can be a slow process getting your account back,  password reset via secret question espically seem to be in many cases as it is seen as "known" I think.  And I could be wrong on that.  But You really need to go to the mindset of bumping and emailing once a week, and expect it to take some time.  Eventually you should get it back if your provide everything needed.   But you do have to wait.

If you want to start over... you could.  But with a Sr. account I would not.
571  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: i want to start mining noob on: June 09, 2016, 10:47:50 PM
hi guys i am new to bitcoin , how can i start mining with my desktop pc ?

Day's of mining with a regular PC are pretty much over.   Most PC's are not worth mining.   You might be able to mine a altcoin like Ether depending on what your video card is.  It takes a decent video card though.  So for some this is a possibility some including myself have even bult PC's just to mine  Ether.

But as far as mining BTC it needs to be done with an ASIC.  There is no chance of mining pure BTC on a pc anymore.  CPU/GPU just cannot compete with asics on power.
572  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which wallet is the best? on: June 09, 2016, 10:45:19 PM
for me coinbase and blockchain.info, but i'm prefer to use coinbase and vip to exchange my btc to my country's currency

Coinbase and blockchain.info are both popular but there is a HUGE difference between the two for those reading.  With blockchain you can get your private key and make paper wallets, or even import into another wallet. So if site is down you still can access BTC.

Coinbase is very different and kinda in a league of it's own.  Only way you can access your BTC is through it's webwallet.  You cannot get private key so no importing it into another wallet.  But they hold a insurance policy for if site get's hacked.  So that could be huge  if they have a big breach.  But you are giving up control of wallet to them.
573  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where can I invest? on: June 09, 2016, 10:41:57 PM
Look the BTC price flutuation. The price is still going up relatively fast. If you keep your BTCs safe on your wallet for some time you can make a nice profit. Who did it about one month ago, already made a good profit, when the Bitcoin went from less than $500 to $590 today. It's better than do a suspicious investiment.

Not sure where you got today's information from we have not went near 500 today.   You can take a look here turn it to one day - http://www.coindesk.com/price/  But we have had a high of 583, low of 572, and currently are at around 577.  So no where near 100 dollar range today.

I do agree keeping BTC long term hopefully can gain long term profit's.  But today has been much different then you described.
574  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud Mining - Please help a newbie on: June 09, 2016, 10:37:58 PM
I think cloud mining is good for long term, but we must search reputable and good cloud mining

There is onlu one reputable and good cloud mining - HashNest.com

In next few days they should relase S9 , so next "safari" will begin..

The S9 has been released and sold out very quickly. But I think it is better just to buy the bitcoin to invest.

There is a batch 2 up that is "limited edition" with less power.   So the could still get a S9 right now on order, but this is falling away from cloud mining which this thread is really about.

I would recommend waiting and getting a S9 once on hashnest once it's up if you want to cloud mine. Sadly most are scams at this point in cloud mining, so going for hashnest is safest bet to get a honest chance of ROI.
575  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cheap board for beginner on: June 09, 2016, 10:31:56 PM
If you buy a old miner, calculate your ROI before investing.
https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator

Old miner are not efficient.

If OP is just wanting to learn he could use a Compac usb stick miner. It's still the most recent stick miner.  For just learning it is great as it makes the person learn some of the command's.   So I consider it educational.

Now if OP is looking for best bang for the buck then full machines are going to be what he want's.  But we really need to know electricity price as you pointed out some are old and could be like losing money every day it runs.  Which is not a ton of fun.
576  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain Antminer S9 on: June 09, 2016, 10:27:12 PM
Buying any hardware before the halving is just a big unnecessary risk in my eyes. Best case is you get to mine for 2 weeks on the gravy train and then everybody else catches up. Nice, you just made probably less than $100 more than somebody who had no risk of the halving. (claps)

With increased risk comes possible increased profit.  It is not a sure bet in any means, mining is getting harder and need cheaper electricity.  But if price rises (and it depends how high it goes) getting rewards before having could be much more profit.   I would guess it's more then 100 and in the hundreds... how many hundreds hard to say though.

We just don't know it is hard to say how much btc hopefully will go up to.  But in this game it is normally the ones that take a little risk that profit.  If you are looking for a sure bet not sure mining has been that for a while.  But I know many people including I have managed to do it and enjoy it very much.

The price of BTC going up has no impact on profitability. We are talking BTC ROI. If I rely on BTC increase to fiat ROI, I could have simply held the coin and made pure profit on the increase with none of the risk associated with mining. I can buy this miner for ~$2,200 today and have it return 2.5 BTC in a year. Or I could buy 2.5 BTC today for $1,450...

The only variable affecting BTC ROI besides downtown and power is network difficulty. I see no scenario in which difficulty allows this miner to ROI. BTC in < BTC out. There is no high risk, high reward. Only imoossible ROI, donation to Bitmain.

I'm not sure how you don't see BTC price impacting mining.  It HIGHLY can impact it.   I have X operating cost in USD per machine per month in electricity.  The longer the BTC stay's above that amount to run the longer I can mine.  Eventually.. I have to sell my miners as I do not have "free" electricity.

I see your point of buying 1 BTC = 1 BTC a year later even.  But BTC price highly impacts me as far as how long I can mine profitable.

Ok, let's try again. This machine costs 3.5 BTC. It returns 2.5 BTC in a year. You lose 1 BTC.

I can just buy 3.5 BTC and then not buy the miner. In a year I still have 3.5 BTC. No matter what the cost of BTC is I have more $$ than if I bought the miner.

Yes, BTC price increase will affect your fiat ROI. But look above. If you can't ROI in BTC you would have done better to hold the coin. If BTC goes up, you have more fiat if you hold the coin. If BTC goes down you lose less money if you hold the coin. Mining at a BTC loss is willingly increasing the risk to your fiat while simultaneously diminishing the returns of your fiat. You make less for higher risk.

Would you buy 4 gold bars to trade for digging equipment designed to dig up 3 gold bars and then hope for the price of gold to go up? No you wouldn't, you would just hold the 4 gold bars. Why should BTC be any different? Why would you pay more BTC than a machine returns?

This is why you run ROI in BTC. If you can't recoup BTC, hold the coin. If you can recoup coin plus more, decide if the 'plus more' is worth the risk (will the machine and variables hold up).

And that is a valid argument that buying BTC is better for some then mining.  I'm not saying mining is for everyone with cost's going into it.   But as you I think see BTC price is HUGE for mining to keep going.  The higher the value should be the longer I can run the miner.    And should effect how much BTC I mine hopefully a profitable amount.  But I admit speculating 6 months out is kinda impossible at this point.

But for miners that are not free BTC price is going to be huge.  If it drops it could directly effect me in mining less day's before I sell the miner.  If it goes up it could directly give me more day's of mining, which should mean more BTC mined. Which is huge as far as ROI.
577  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: antminer S7 is that really profitable on: June 09, 2016, 10:22:02 PM
http://
I got 100% free electricity..  do u think,  if I buy antminer it will be profitable to me.

what will be the lowest and highest btc/usd I can make in 1 month?

I could be wrong but I think after having S7's will drop a good amount in price.  They could stay high if BTC value jumps a lot it's very hard to say.   But being brand new I would start researching and wait till having to grab a bargin on some gear.

And I could be wrong but I think those with "free" electricity will really get some good deals.   With S7 make sure you have proper voltage and heat/noise is not a issue.

This thread looks like it was moved to speculation.  The tweet from Jihan was interesting and we can speculate all day on it.   I'm personally not sure if he was not just congratulating a friend.

I could be wrong and you can read deep into it thinking he wan't investors... but I'm not sure I see enough to back it up.  So guess that is why it's speculation.

Hello! My name is Mikhail. My bitcointalk.org account MEDVEDja is banned.  Initially, I was banned for 7 days. Then I saw a message Sorry MEDVEDja, you are banned from posting or sending personal messages on this forum.Ban evasion
What should i do to get fix my wrong? What should i do to get unban? What should i do to get out of this case and fix it?
There have also been banned accounts: My brothers Vladimir Kostin User Valodja and Nikolai Volkov user valeratolocko. There was also banned account of my father, Sergei Kostin user sergii59.
We have only one internet connection and use the wi-fi router in our hostel. My brothers and my father is also working with cryptocurrency and try to earn some money.
What you need to provide evidence to prove that it is not my accounts? How can you unban them?I can provide links to their pages on social networks.
Even though it looks like I was trying to circumvent the ban, but it is not. I hope you will understand me.

Regards Mikhail!

as far i know, just admin or global moderator who can unban someone account, but if you have proof if you arent do any mistake, try to pm them.

I still think it is going to be hard to prove.  To me it appears accounts were being farmed just look at the last two same day registration posting to move up activity.  If the mod's allowed people like this to say "Ohhh hey that is my family".  It would make it much easier for crap post account farmers to get unbanned.

I would think the mods will let him wait it out.   I'm curious janggernaut did you read thread before posting?
