Isn't this fun?

Um, it's more fun when my net worth doesn't shrink

I have no dough to buy the dips when I just made a big purchase at $657, literally a day before the big dump. Fuck me
562  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can you give advice because the price right now is falling.. on: August 02, 2016, 04:09:31 PM
Considering we are likely going down to $400-$500 buying now is just dumb.

Considering that you have a history of making false claims and spreading doom about bitcoin, you really shouldn't be giving advice to someone who is legitimately concerned. Not that any of us should give him financial advice, but there's a difference when someone actually tries to help vs you who is spreading misinformation on purpose. You could be right, maybe this is going to $400-$500, but knowing you it's likely that you're pulling bearish numbers out of your ass while trying to influence someone's financial decision, that's a shitty thing to do even as an internet troll.

For reference, these are the claims he made right before the rally to $780

Ehh no... there is no support in that range... check the order books. ...
No high value future for btc.
With Hearn leaving it's pretty much guaranteed we won't even hold $300...

Over the past week almost 2 million btc have been dumped.. that's insane..

Indicators for upcoming weekend seem even more grim. We could be looking at 190-200.
563  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can you give advice because the price right now is falling.. on: August 02, 2016, 03:42:35 PM
Hi guys i need your advice if i will sell my bitcoins right now or still holding it..
Do you think the price will increase again back soon or not?

I hope you can give the best advice here im confuse to convert my bitcoin into fiat right now..

First of all, what's your cost average? If you are taking a loss by selling now then don't.

If you are able to hold for a few months and don't need that money right now then HOLD. I've been in the game for a while and I realized that if you don't know what's going on then your best bet is to just hold. Unless of course something fatal happened to bitcoin. I have seen many "panics", much worse than this drop and I always ended up coming back at the top by being patient and holding on.

At this moment there is no reason to believe that bitcoin is not going to grow. It's not facing any disaster and price can go up just as easily as it can go down while things are moving forward.

So shouldn't you be on a buying frenzy right now?  Cheesy
565  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 01, 2016, 06:28:36 PM
What's happening guys? To be honest I was not expecting this much of a battering after staying at $660 or so for a fairly long time.

Unless someone knows something I don't, this seems like the post-halving dip that never happened, until now. We all got comfortable with bitcoin being stable at $660. Nearly everyone, especially Adam, were way too bullish.. it's about time bitcoin kicks them in the balls and gives everyone a reality check--- that bitcoin is truly unpredictable. It will make you think that you "figured it out" and then do something completely opposite of what you expect.
566  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 01, 2016, 04:22:26 PM
620 seems to be pretty well defended. Perhaps we found a new bottom?

Just like how 780 was the new bottom.... then 680... then 650... and now 620.... tomorrow 580

WHEN IS $3000 gonna be the new bottom??

Tagged because I'm interested in suggestions too.

For OP.... do you like slashers?

You're Next and High Tension were good slasher movies.

Sinister, REC, Blair Witch Project, and The Ring were some of my favorites.

Another one that is pretty creepy is Dabbe: Bir Cin Vakasi (2012)

There were plenty of sequels but this one and the 2nd one were the best and truly creepy

I've been meaning to see The Witch & The Babadook

[...]

Sounds meaningless to me because we have been hearing this since 2014.

[...]

Still waiting..... and 2 years later we have another article that claims it's "still waiting" ...sorry if I'm not excited until we see a confirmation. Anticipation isn't confirmation

The SolidX ETF isn't the Winklevii's COIN ETF. The latter is awaiting comment on a rule change for listing on BATS. NASDAQ never filed for that rule change. There is now a timetable for acceptance, starting with a 45-day period for comment with several possible extensions. I guess it still could all fall apart and be rejected, but it's undeniably further ahead than previously.

Thank you. Now I'm a little more excited.

there is a workable Alpha version of LN
its called Thunder i think
https://www.blockchain.com/thunder/
yup.

This seems like a big deal but I haven't heard about this before. I thought LN was something like pipe-dream that isn't possible yet, at least from what I heard. This thunder network is basically a working prototype showing it's possible.

Quote
Scale: According to our tests so far, we can achieve better-than-Visa scale (100,000 TPS) with only a few thousand nodes on the network

Extremely cheap payments: fees will develop naturally, due to the free market in an open and permissionless network and will fundamentally be lower than on-chain payments

Even if limited to transactions in a trusted network right now this is still pretty incredible. If I'm understanding this right, is this going to be applicable and help scaling once CSV and SegWit are implemented?

i think the goal is and always will be to get bitcoin to be able to process all of the worlds TX.
right now poeple have gotten use to the idea that bitcoin will never be able to do that.
when LN comes and changes the game, we will be able to say that "yes bitcoin CAN potentially take over the world."

i agree only LN can achieve this, but i disagree that blocksize can stay at 1MB or that 2MB would have any meaningful centralizing effect. it should have been bumped up already and its sad you small blockers cant see that.

For the love of bitcoin, and all it stands for, we MUST ALL AGREE the fallowing statement is completely INSANE

" Hard forks are evil, and only core dev knows what best for bitcoin. "

It's unfortunate that there's a divide happening in this community between "small blockers" and the other folks. But I don't understand why, didn't Core agree to a segwit softfork + the 2Mb hardfork for a total of 4Mb increase in their roadmap? Is that not happening or are you saying it's taking too long?

Quote
SegWit is expected to be released in April 2016.
The code for the hard-fork will therefore be available by July 2016.
If there is strong community support, the hard-fork activation will likely happen around July 2017.

https://medium.com/@bitcoinroundtable/bitcoin-roundtable-consensus-266d475a61ff#.i1yfnaja4

I'm not sure if I'm a "small blocker" if I'm okay with this roadmap... but to me it seems like the scaling issue is going to be temporary. Once block size is increased, SegWit + LN is out and then the ETF gets approved then what, moon? At least these are the rumors, once they're news it'll be too late

I got my bitcoinz ready.... sick and tired of being in the upper-middle class
574  Economy / Speculation / Re: This is the bull run that doesn't end.. on: July 28, 2016, 06:58:28 PM
Yeah, I'm not sure you wouldn't want a rise of greater than 100% over the course of the next 20 years. 100% would put Bitcoin at $1,300, which would be way too small of value for Bitcoin to keep moving and keep the investor base it has for those next 20 years. You're looking at, at the very least, a relative doubling of the value for each year for the halvings to work and to keep the investors interested. That's just my opinion though.

I don't even know why I replied. I hate it when people say they WANT the price to stay low or to only rise at a snail's pace. It's not good for bitcoin, it's not good for them, it's not good for anyone... just, WHY?

Read Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. If you want to get rich.

I've known a lot of morons who read this book, none of them got rich. Weird...

If you want to get rich you will be rich, it all depends on your hardwork. No book can make you rich.

Hard work?

What if I buy many bitcoin and get lucky?

Winkelvoss ETF was never approved during 2014, 2015 otherwise it woud alrdy be here..you're overeacting a little bit.

You need to pay for lawyers, regulaters, filling paperwork to SEC etc, that cost a ton of money and time. Bitcoin is a brand new asset class with a lot of potential, it is not easy to make a framework.
All party's needs to be happy, if the first farmework does not fit the requirements than a new one will be planned and that will take a new chunk of money and time. There are more ETF's going on than the Winkelvoss but the 2 brother are going for BATS exchange. Imo that fits Bitcoin better than NASDAQ.

Have patience friend, Bitcoin ETF's will come.

I didn't say it was approved.... we have been hearing about it waiting to be approved since 2014. So what exactly is new about this:

Bitcoin ETF approval within 5 months.

Quote
A new exchange traded fund designed to track the price of Bitcoin may be on its way to market. New paperwork has been filed with the SEC for the new ETF, titled Solid Bitcoin Trust, according to reports from ETF.com.

SolidX Partners Inc. says the Bitcoin within the ETF will be insured in case of theft, destruction or computer fraud, with the Bank of New York Mellon acting as custodian.

The new fund requires a rule change filing with SEC by the carrying exchange, due to Bitcoin’s status as a new asset type. The fund will kick off with an initial offering value at around $1 million.

Approval is pending based on the approval of the rule change filing; a precedent has since been set by the Winklevoss Bitcoin ETF, which the infamous brothers filed for on June 30. It’s anticipated that fund will receive approval by the end of 2016, with the SolidX ETF receiving approval by early 2017.

Wasn't the Winklevoss ETF supposed to be approved by 2014? Then again by 2015? Now by the end of 2016? I keep hearing the same thing every year... what's different this time?

Also, didn't the Winklevoss release their ETF called Gemini? Or is that just an exchange? I'm so confused because I've been hearing about the same ETF for the last 2 years and nothing changes

Did someone promise you something too?

Try a little harder with your nonsense.

By now, even the biggest of idiots have figured out that Gemini is an exchange and an exchange is different from an ETF.

We could have given you a pass for these kinds of questions a year ago (when Gemini first came out), but a year later, come on?

What nonsense you stupid motherfucker the Winklevoss ETF has been in the news as "soon to be approved" since 2014, I'm just asking how this news is any different.... it's the same shit over and over again. If I remember it was supposed to be approved by the end of 2014

Why are you so pissed, you on your period? Don't ever talk to me like that again bitch boy
