561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin | Scrypt N | Beat ASICs | Must upgrade wallet due to a bug in OpenSSL on: April 17, 2014, 06:36:01 AM
Hi,

i am a bit concerned about GPU mining. You can clearly see that a lot of asics already on the scrypt networks.
LTC diffi has increased a lot, Nethash das doubled since the time of pure GPU mining and itīs no longer profitable to mine with GPU
especially if you mine on high powercost like in germany. Not really any coin is profitabel to mine with GPUīs at the moment.
LTC price drops hard over the last weeks. I think some of this actions depend to tne new Asicīs entering the networks.
OK, MTgox problems also caused the problems with declining prices of BTC and all ALT coins

I thought N-scrypt would be the new place for GPU miners. Also other algoīs like X11 has not as much miners as i would expect.
For me at the moment it looks like wether scrypt-n nor X11 will be the next GPU miners base.

VTC threat here is not very busy and also diffi went down from 250-260 level to 220. Price is dropping at the moment.
Whatīs going on at the moment ?

Are GPU miners still on scrypt coins ? Do a lot of miners still have not recogniced asicīs on the networks ?
Did GPU miners still powered off their rigs ?
In the german Litecointalk board are a lot of mining rigs for sale.

I bougt in VTC at very high Level, more than x3 than current level. Is it time to cut loss ?
Give me some ideas  Huh

People, we are not holding DRK speculating on short term valuation!

All coins i mined until now at the end price always comes out to cover electricity plus a small profit.
Itīs always the same ....

And now ASICs are on the scrypt networks coin prices will decline because of the low powerbills.
ROI is not that important. I think time for GPU minig is over.
Looks like scrypt-n and X11 is not the new home for GPU miners. If they woud, Nethash would already be much higher
on coins like DRK and VTC. I am sorry with that if i am right because i lost 2000€ because of worthless hardware
563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: April 16, 2014, 03:22:32 PM
Is it so that you need far less energy to mine x11  and how much?

i need 1200W @ 2400kh scrypt and 670W same rig @ 8600kh X11
564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: April 16, 2014, 03:08:50 PM
Quote
11 270s and 1 6870 give me ~13Mh/s which has been getting me about 10 DRK/day,

thats a whopping 6 dollars a day.

same rigs same setup mine Einsteinium (EMC2) you will get 17.7 dollars.

per month $180 vs $531 dollars.

calculations taken directly from coinwarz.com

the ONLY good thing came out of darkcoin project is X11.

you canīt compare scrypt vs x11. you need less energy run x11 @100%
565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: April 16, 2014, 02:49:11 PM
YEP, low diff and I get 0,62 DRK/hour so 14,88/day !!! YES YES YES.....dont mine it to early guys Tongue
Some write that it`s not profitable but persistent ones will win. With my 4x 280x + i5 I get 0,0189 BTC/day - electricity.... so get more that any other scrypt coin mining.... who knows how long it lasts....

mow much do you pay per kwh
566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: April 16, 2014, 11:42:42 AM
Unfortunately, that German pushed me over the edge and I immediately dumped everything I ever mined and bought over the last 3 months Angry

Itīs funny which things you can read between the lines.
I only said it - "looks like"

But itīs as estimated, all guys are a bit nervous und not really without concerns
567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: April 16, 2014, 11:20:11 AM
Looks like DRK is lowering down. Cryptsy volume decline, a lot of less post ....

yep thats right mate, in fact on hearing that from you, I just dumped all my DRK. Everything is dying here.....decay and desperation. We've all known its been over for a while now, we were just in denial.

Anyway, onwards and upwards, what do you recommend I buy Dotnetmin?

I donīt know where to go. I like the DRK anonymos and X11 concept but also not sure to invest more.
I already swaped a few LTC to DRK.
I wantīt to mine DRK but for me itīs better to buy than mine because my powercost in germany is too high.
The same money i have to pay for mining one day with my rig ( mining = 6 DRK / 24h) i can buy 8 DRK.

For me ( and all other germans who have to pay for electricity ) no coin is profitable to mine.
To stay in the game i have to buy instead of mining.
Only question, which coin

569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 16, 2014, 08:43:57 AM
How should BC come backwith so much bagholders buying at much higher prices than the currenct level.
Once price will rise people wanīt to get out to lower their loss.

Same happens with VTC. I am still waiting since weeks to get out again on my buy in level of 690k
and a lot of people bought them on 1200k and more.

The VTC volume in BTC was much much lower at the pump than the BC volume.

Give me an idea !
570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: April 15, 2014, 08:03:58 AM
There is a lot of crap being posted about BC here and I want to clarify. Its not being pumped on specualtion its being pumped because the multipool dumps crapcoins and buys blackcoin.

5000 BTC per day mining from the BC multipool? No. At best close to 1% of that. So >99% of the pump volume is unaccounted for.

Thats unbelivable what happens to BC. That canīt have something to do with the coin itsself. Itīs only playground for big BTC holders.
Some people orchestrate the biggest pump and dump iīve ever seen on cryptocoinmarket.
Only standing on the sideline and watching what happens  Shocked
I lost enough with some other coins i the past and learned my lessens to stay away from these trades.

DRK looks like boring to this, but in the end ...
People will always remember their lost with BC and stay away in future and searching for something more longtime investment.

This is the hardest fight i ever watched.
Pricesadjustment and volume on mintpal are soooo crazy.
It's not for the faint-hearted.

With all the hype going on with asic-scrypt miners and brand new 3th/s bitcoin miners i decided to go vertcoin.

Why?

Well... have a look on *bay and all the other sellingplatforms.

After that, read some threads about the big companies, not just one thread, visit some different forums (fori?) Smiley

But the real eye-opener was KNC!
They offer a "plan B" which means: if your hardware will be late (they cant deliver on Q2), you will get payed with bitcoin out of their datacenter...
Which they will mine "for you" with neptunes at atleast 3th/s and "all the bitcoins will be transfered to your wallet!".

So to make it really clear: they are mining AGAINST their costumers.
Killing the ROI with an increased difficult of sha (scrypt too?) using payed (from their costumers!) hardware!

I am not one of the XXX-mh/s private man, im living in germany and powercosts are too high to setup a big farm.

But i am still mining (1.5mh/s lol) because i think we need a better way than "fiat"-money.
After all: with the small profit iīm making im giving my son a bit pocket money in his study to go out and have some fun...

I am just a joe average, having a joe average job, doing joe average things...
But i believe in the power of people and not in the power of "banksters"!
just my 2 cents of wisdom...

Hi Kartoffelknilch,

how do you work out to mine on a small profibility in germany ? I have 1.3Mh eating 1300 Watt / hour.
Itīs 31,3 kwh / 24 h @ 0.25€ = 7,82€ / day power cost incl. tax.
If all is fine you get 5.8 VTC / day @ 0.002 BTC = 0.0116 BTC = 5.22 US$ = 3.81 €
Alltogehter you have 3.81€ - 7.82 € = -4.01 € / day

Each day mining VTC for me would be a lost of 4.01€ / day = - 120€ Month.

Maybe you have some better conditions, but you canīt cover 100% loss against me only to cover power bill.
Donīt speak from your invest. If you have a 1.5 Mh rig you have minimum a invest of 1300-1500€.

Mining VTC in Germany is a 100% loss. I donīt know how it is in other countryīs but itīs hard to get any profit anywhere
if you have to pay for your power.

@ all - on which rate are you mining and do you mine on a dayly loss ?

I canīt see any coin mining without a loss with GPU power.
574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: April 08, 2014, 06:47:29 AM
Why are you concerned about the Name Darkcoin Huh

Donīt you think people will recognice soon the our banking system and the US$ ( and all fiat currencys) are gigantic ponzi scheme running
by centralbanks. Wait until they build a rfid into your dollar and get your childs registered by a chip as sonn as they are born to control anything.

We need a payment system like Darkcoin in future - Not for illigal things, only for dayly use to not let us be like a glass human.
We need protection for ourself. Big companys and government do not have to know what i am daily doing and on what i spend my hard earned money.

So Dark is the best name you can choose

Is it normal if at the moment i use another programm in windows while mining with vertminer hashrate goes heavily down ?

If i open a wallet for example, hashrate drops down to 15% of total. It takes minimum one minute to come back again and does
not reach 100 % of old value.

I tryed to mine DRK with sgminer and it doens`t make any difference in hashrate if i use other programms or not.

yeah that is normal.. vertminer cgminer etc all require a bit of cpu power available at all times to work mining..
so if you all a of a sudden max out your cpu you should see a drop in hash rate until you free up the cpu again.
the cpu has to orchestrate the work like a conductor standing in front of a band.. he is not doing much but if you screw with him the band goes to hell lol
like the cpu is what is feeding the work to the gpu so if it has any delay in sending work then work speed slows down. make sense ?

i use vertminer myself with 1 gpu.. a Powercolor 7950 and i occasionally mine with my cpu on and off too or do video encoding etc
and i have different computers with different cpu's and it doesn't matter which one i use they all follow the same rules or problems etc.
my main machine is an i7 with 4 cores and 8 threads so if i use the cpu i make sure to leave 2 threads free for the GPU miner.
(so i would run the cpu vertminer with 6 threads via commandline) while gpu mining at the same time.

On another computer i have.. an nvidia card mining VTC with cudaminer with a Core 2 Duo e7500 and that is only 2 cores / 2 threads
and if use up the the cores on that cpu it slows my nvidia miner down too. I rarely ever cpu mine on that one because
it's not worth slowing down the faster nvidia gpu miner.. so yeah it's normal Wink
Thanks for your detailed answer. I have noticed that the wallets only use much CPU power while they are not synched. After the are synched
and still open and stay synched it does not effect my mining power.

http://blissdevices.com/tech-specs/

"Scryptr also provides a high level of flexibility to support mining of newer coins that are “fairer” to miners such as Vertcoin by allowing configurable Scrypt parameters. Also, the chip’s PCIe interface enables faster and greater data transfer speeds, if and when new algorithms require more network data."

http://www.reddit.com/r/scryptmining/comments/20x6r0/bliss_devices_announces_new_prices_on_scrypt/cg8xcd6

"Our chip supports configurable N parameters which allows it to mine N-factor scrypt up to N=262144, which is still about 35 years away."

...so when can we expect the change of PoW?

Are they even real ?
Why are you so keen to change something that is not yet broken ?

Will vertcoin communicate its stand publicly? Will vertcoin when push comes to shove do the 'right' thing?

I don't know how many times we have to publicly say "VTC will hardfork if necessary to keep ASICs out" - we must have said it a hundred times!

I'll say it again, in case repetition number 101 will help - VTC will hardfork if that every becomes necessary to keep ASICs out. This isn't LTC, we're not going to suddenly decide to give up and capitulate in the face of a need to hardfork, we will do whatever is necessary to keep VTC decentralised and in part that means excluding ASICs by whatever means necessary.

Boris, i think a lot of people ( especially GPU miners ) including me are a bit  uncomfortable with the momentary situation in the whole market.
BTC is getting worse and worser and all other coins also. I would say nearly no coin is profitable to mine if you have to pay more than 0.15€ / kwh
(0,20uS$ / kwh ) mining with GPUīs. In germany itīs impossible. We have to pay between 0.25 and 0.35€ / kwh

All over discussions are around about statment from LTC devs and their comments around X11 and n-scrypt and an LTC hardfork.
Also a lot of post "nothing that is minable with a gpu is resitant against asics"

Here in the VTC area itīs compared with dark area very quiet. So i think maybe people are unsure how to go on now or maybe to shut down their
gpu based miners. You have to post more often VTC future plans and make people belive VTC could be their GPU mining future.

578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin-Adaptive N-factor Scrypt-No more ASICs-[EXCHANGES/AMAZON/ATM/MERCHANTS] on: April 03, 2014, 11:18:55 AM
I fear that Scrypt's way to implement RAM, and now Scrypt-N's to implement way more RAM, will have a boomerang effect in trying to prevent centralization, creating more centralization as an unintended mid-term consequence.
You mean to say that asics for scrypt-n will be more expensive so less people can afford one??
The Litecoin devs are right in one thing: If a coin is mine-able in a GPU, it's game over. ASICs are just a matter of time from that point onwards. The thought however of making the ASICs expensive through much RAM, is something that will escalate ASIC prices and reduce the affordability of ASIC miners for the masses.
If a coin is gpu-minable then everything is ok. Where it goes wrong is when it gets asic-minable.
If RAM was not a part of the equation, a greater degree of decentralization could occur once a coin moves from the GPU to the ASIC cycle of mining, through affordable ASICs that normal people can actually buy without paying a fortune. So the fact that ASICs will have to be very costly in order to have much RAM, is not really good down the road.
You are missing the point. The point is asics should never be given a chance. What happens when asics arrive is irrelevant. Furthermore: a coin is not dead when asics arrive, the coin's PoW is dead when asics arrive.

The biggest problem with asics is their scalability. Compared to gpu's they need no external hardware worth mentioning. Affordable asics are as worse as very expensive asics because affordable asics will allow mining factories to be setup by anyone willing to do so. Expensive asics will leave the option open for the asic producer to setup a giant mining factory (as producing asics gets very cheap when the numbers go up). And the control over the coin is transferred from the mining community to the asic producer(s) in the long run.

Could you please translate PoW to me, thanks
