561  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: January 25, 2024, 09:17:29 AM
Bayern Munich defeated their opponent 1-0 and continued to follow Leverkusen. We watched a Bayern Munich who dominated the pitch and never gave any chances to their opponents. Bjelica must have been bored with this situation, because he did everything to get Sane red carded in order to bring excitement to the match. He didn't succeed and got a red card himself. If Sane had gotten the red card here maybe things would have changed. Bayern dominated the game from the beginning to the end and definitely deserved the win.
Coach Thomas Tuchel will be pleased that Bayern Munich got the three points but he will not also be comfortable with the player's performance. Bayern is not scoring goals as they used to and it is becoming disturbing. A club that has 22 shots on target and just scored just one goal is not a good result for a team with some of the best strikers in the world. I know it was not an easy game because Union Berlin defended so well that it was difficult to penetrate but this is not the Bayern we used to know. They have been struggling to win games and the coach is not taking responsibility.

Except Bayer Leverkusen drops four points in the future, Bayern Munich might have to settle for the second position. Ball possession or match dominance is good but getting the three points is more important. So the coach shouldn't work on the attack of Bayern to ensure they maximize the chances they create.
562  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitwise becomes first US spot Bitcoin ETF to disclose BTC holding addresses on: January 25, 2024, 08:26:16 AM
The aim is to show how transparent and to further maintain the trust their customers have in them. I think this sets the bar for the others to follow but I'm a little bit curious by this action of Bitwise.
https://bitcoinmagazine.com/markets/bitwise-becomes-first-u-s-spot-bitcoin-etf-to-disclose-btc-holding-addresses
Bitwise has done well by voluntarily publishing its Bitcoin address holding and they have set a pace of transparency and openness. I also hope they will disclose more of their financial operations like how many shares have been acquired this is to ensure that they have enough funds to back it up. I also see this move as a marketing strategy to attract investors to the asset management firm. Maybe other asset managers might follow to prove that they are also accountable.

Quote
Does this mean they can't still falsify records even as they've displayed their records to the public?
These centralised platforms could do anything just to prove that they are trustworthy. They could go as far as borrowing Bitcoin from other sources and transfer it to the address just to deceive investors. You will never know how dirty these companies are until they have problems. It is better to buy your coins directly and keep them in your wallet because you will never know what is happening behind the glamour more of these firms are showing.
563  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are newbies afraid to comment on threads of highly ranked members? on: January 24, 2024, 03:16:16 PM
I know this thread will seem like nonsense to many but I took a lot of courage, and now I want to know if it's just my mistake or if it happens to many freshmen. But I have seen many newbies join the threads of senior, legendary or ranked members, but I hold back for fear of lack of courage. I can't move it at all.

If this is not the case for many in new situations, and if this fear applies to me, how do I overcome it?

All your valuable suggestions will be appreciated.
OP your thread makes a lot of sense to me because I also faced the same fear. I usually check the people who have commented on a past before responding to his because I was scared of making mistakes. I was also scared of criticism since I felt that my comments might not be appropriate. But this fear didn't last for a long time because I began to build confidence.

The first thing I did was to avoid threads that I knew little or nothing about. This is to limit my probability of making mistakes. In some cases, I will read the comments of other members and do some research before commenting on a thread. The only way you can be confident in your post is when you are sure that you are contributing positively to the thread.
564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The topic of Bitcoin's Achievement is charming on: January 24, 2024, 02:20:31 PM
Knowing about Bitcoin early is not just important to me but the ability to believe in the coin and keep hodling it for a long time. Many people were lucky to acquire Bitcoin very cheaply but they ended up losing, wasting or even selling it before it became influential. So I have so much respect for people who kept their coin to date. I was not that lucky to be part of these old-timers but in a few years, many people will also call me a lucky person because of the extent Bitcoin might go. The message that we should keep holding looks insignificant but I think this is also the same message that was been spread a long time ago but many people failed to maximize their opportunity.

I disagree that the illegal stuff has gone down, maybe in bitcoin but there's definitely more people that's using crypto for really nefarious stuff. I don't think stability will ever be a thing for bitcoin though, I still believe it's going to be volatile as ever, that's one thing I believe will never change.
Before now Bitcoin was generally perceived by the mainstream financial system as a currency that is mostly used to finance crime. But these views have gradually changed over time and we have seen Bitcoin become acceptable by the governments of some influential nations. Before now, nobody believed that the SEC would ever approve the spot Bitcoin ETF because Bitcoin was highly associated with crime. Therefore, people might still be using it for criminal activities but the perception that it is majorly used for finance crime has changed.
565  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: January 24, 2024, 09:26:51 AM
The next match will be the biggest test for De Rossi and he must show consistency and extend his list of wins if As Roma wants to finish in the top five of the standings. Facing Inter Milan is not easy because they are currently in their best form in Serie A so it will be a little difficult for As Roma to win the match.
Inter Milan will meet Roma on the tenth of February and not the next game. Roma's next game in the Seria A will be against Salernitana and from their five past meetings the host team have not won against Roma. They have played two draws while Roma won three matches. With the level of motivation from the last win, I think Daniele De Rossi might be able to lead the team to victory. Ending the league in the top five positions will be a big task for Roma but with dedication and fewer injuries, they might achieve it. If they can win the game against Salernitana and Cagliari they might have the opportunity of moving to sixth or fifth position. But the games against Inter will be the real test of the tactical capacity of De Rossi. A draw against Inter should be the sole target of Roma.
566  Other / Meta / Re: cls63 Merit Source Application on: January 24, 2024, 08:25:54 AM
I have seen many merit source applications and I don't think anyone has been approved by Theymos. I think he is taking his time and might want to do a bulk approval. I also desire to see more merit sources because some of the old ones might not have been active. Good luck with your application.

The question is for OP but I think he mentioned some of the answers in the original post.
1. What are your own personal reasons you see that prompted for this application.
OP said the Turkish board is lacking merit sources and he has time to act in that capacity if given the opportunity.

Quote
2. What difference are you going to make in the distribution of merits if your request is being granted.
The gambling board lacks merits flow, since he is an active gamble poster, we might start seeing the flow of merit in the gambling board if his application is approved.
567  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What You will do in this situation? on: January 23, 2024, 09:14:56 AM
If you were in this situation, what would you do? Introduce him to sports betting or let him stick to playing slots. Yesterday, I just let it go but we still often meet at other activities.
The kind of gambling games a person chooses should be based on interest. Some people might not enjoy sports bets that's why they are sticking to slots. We shouldn't also push aside that gambling is not just for profit-making but also entertainment. But it will not be bad if you introduce him to sports betting if you think he has the experience and would have some advantage. But ensure you have the time to guide him properly to make him understand sports betting this is to avoid mistakes. But do you think sports betting has more advantages than slot games?
568  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saudi Arabia 1M BTC BUY !! on: January 23, 2024, 08:52:35 AM
There are a lot of things going around about Saudi Arabia that cannot be confirmed. I know one of the rumours are that Saudi Arabia wanted to join the BRICS countries and then suddenly decided that they did not want to join anymore.

We know the BRICS countries wants to move away from the US Dollar as a global reserve currency and they want to use their own currency.

So it will be interresting to see what side they choose.
I was also surprised when I heard that Saudi Arabia wants to join the BRICS nations since they have a very close diplomatic relationship with the US. The kingdom depends more on the US for security, so moving away from the dollars will have dire consequences. The country's minister of commerce Majid Al-Kasabi clarified that the Kingdom has been invited to attend BRICS summits which doesn't mean joining formally.

I’ve been hearing about investments from the Saudis for a few years already. It seems that every few months someone makes a tweet and then people get the word out and it spreads and people think it’s real.

Basically $500M is nothing for those countries, so it’s possible they might invest, especially after the etf has been approved. But until we get something concrete then it’s nothing but a rumor.
In almost all the news outlets that reported the news, the information was called a rumour. What makes it more unreliable is that it didn't emanate from any Saudi or Qatari government official but from Max Keiser. I wonder where he got the information since he didn't state the source of this information. But it is good news to the Bitcoin ecosystem to see rich economies like Saudi Arabia and Qatar having an interest in the currency.
569  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 23, 2024, 08:17:57 AM
With a busy schedule and each team requiring player rotation, it means the competition is even more interesting to watch. Manchester City has a tier 2 squad that is equal in terms of play so Pep Guardiola can still overcome the busy schedule by adjusting the level of competition  between the UCL and the Premier League. the reason is that these 2 competitions are the most prioritized targets for Manchester City while Liverpool because this season is not in the UCL, might be able to take advantage of the situation a little besides having to continue hunting in the Europa League where their opponents are not comparable to  Manchester City's opponents in the UCL. For Arsenal itself, in my opinion they won't have much hope in the UCL, so Arteta wants to conquer the Premier League first at least to improve last season slipping performance.
Comparing all the teams that are competing for the English Premier League I think Manchester City stands a better chance of winning the competition. They have one of the best and most experienced coaches who have enough players to select from. I recalled last season when Arsenal began to lose momentum due to injuries and other challenges, while City who was even competing for the UCL kept pushing until they overtook the Gunners. Liverpool is another team that will win the EPL if City fails to win it.

I don't think the Europa League is less tough than the Champions League. Don't forget that some clubs that were knocked out of the UCL will be moving to the Europa League which might make the competition tougher. I also think that the Europa Cup is very important to Liverpool, so they will do their best to win the competition. Arsenal has all it takes to compete favourably in the UCL and I predict that they will overcome Porto in the round of sixteen. There is no need to underrate Arsenal in the UCL because they could just be lucky this season.
570  Economy / Economics / Re: A person that is against the creation of CBDC. on: January 23, 2024, 07:44:48 AM
I think President Trump is correct about the possible control of the government on your funds as Americans and we all know that. People anywhere in the world wants privacy and full control of their funds that is why they invested on decentralized assets rather than having something like the CBDC.
Claiming that CBDCs give the government full control over people's funds but attacking decentralised cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin is hypocrisy. Donald Trump has never been a supporter of Bitcoin, so I see this comment as political to gain votes from mainly the youth. Trump will never promote decentralised platforms because every government wants to control the people's financial activities rather he would promote platforms like the FedNow Service to discourage people from using decentralised platforms.

But do you think this is a smart move of him or you still prefer the use of digital dollar?
Do you agree with him to not allow the creation of CBDC or you just don't care about this?
I know that it is non of my business but I just want to know, is there really a need to create CBDC?

I want to hear your thoughts on this as it might happen to any country in the world anytime.
Except Donald Trump states the kind of currency he prefers to CBDCs this news is none of my business. If he is saying that CBDCs are dangerous, what is his alternative? Does he prefer Bitcoin or does he have another decentralised option?
571  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying houses with BTC on: January 23, 2024, 07:27:44 AM
I have recently watched a video where the guy says that it is safer to buy a house with BTC (and other cryptocurrencies) than buying through one real estate agent. If I remember correctly, he says that it can be proven through a NFT.

That sounds cool, but what about all the regulations and laws of the government? I mean, won't they charge their share? Won't it be possible to get a fine for using crypto instead of FIAT?

I know there are already countries that are "crypto-friendly", but it seems to be interesting to prove your house purchase through an NFT.
Buying a house with Bitcoin has been happening especially in countries that are friendly to the currency. There are countries in which Bitcoin is a legal means of payment which means that it could be used to settle debt or for financial contract agreements. Accepting Bitcoin will also depend on the seller of the property if they are willing to accept it as a means of payment.

I don't know how it is safer to buy properties with Bitcoin because property documents will contain the identity of the buyer, which means it will not promote privacy. The property will still be subjected to taxes just like others, so it will not reduce taxation. It will be better to buy property in fiat if cryptocurrency is banned in your country because it is not recognised as a form of payment. The seller can easily claim that he didn't receive any payment from you since crypto is not a currency before the law of such a country.
572  Economy / Speculation / Re: Self control cannot be neglected as an early investor on: January 22, 2024, 09:59:27 PM
I just started DCAING into bitcoin some months ago with the purpose of becoming a long term holder, I've got my funds in place, I've done my cashflow check up, I've started building my emergency funds, I'm following all the rules that I think I need to follow to reach my goals as long term holder. But guess what happened yesterday?.
I used the money I was supposed to use to lump sum into bitcoin to buy a game. Lame right, very lame. While a lot of persons would talk down on me right now about this cause I know I've messed up and was supposed to say no to that urge to just spend more. Although I've replaced it today with a lot of hard work. I've learnt a lesson. To succeed as an investor you must have self control. I had every reason to say no to the urge to get a game but I didn't. I lacked self control to say no myself and do the right thing.
I would have said that you acted unwisely but reading further showed that you converted your mistake to a lesson not just for yourself but for others. We all make mistakes in life but what is important is the lesson we derive from our shortcomings and our ability not to repeat such an error. The ability to separate needs from wants will make you a good investor. Focusing on out basic needs is what will give use the privilege of saving to invest.

Quote
If anyone must achieve any desire in life, he must have the self control to control his lists cause here I am burning with desire to accumulate bitcoin and this same me went ahead to forfeit it for a game. All I know is I'm never gonna make this same mistake again.
There are always what to spend or waste money on. Manufacturers will keep producing attractive products that will entice us to buy them even when we know that we don't really need them. Self-discipline is very important if you want to save and invest. Buying a video game is just for pleasure,  meanwhile, investment should always come before fun. If you have a burning desire to accumulate Bitcoin, you should also imbibe the virtues of focus and self-control.
573  Economy / Economics / Re: Passion for skills. on: January 22, 2024, 09:35:34 PM

In addition, language, especially in English, because it is the basic language to be able to communicate internationally, and I also see that some people have good abilities but they don't have the language to get a bigger salary abroad, because in my country, the salary standard is still relatively small, also when we have a business it is easy to do marketing and also get investors from outside so that our business can invade or marketing becomes wider.
Learning a major language could be very helpful and could fetch a high-paying job especially if it is related to classroom teaching. But with the invention of various sophisticated applications that could interpret different languages, I doubt if these kinds of skills will be highly demanded in future. Learning how to use AI language interpreters to perform these tasks could be more enterprising.
Yes, although basically we can use automatic translator applications for languages but I think it will not be as efficient and effective as we use the language we master, especially if we are in offline discussions or simple conversations to make an emotional approach with clients.

I think language is very important in an opportunity, and in various situations when getting a lot of foreign clients it will make us more courageous and confident in interacting with them, as well as in crypto projects themselves where they developers need people to manage communities in different countries, and yes the pay is quite decent in my opinion.
I am not saying that artificial intelligence will eliminate language transaction jobs totally but my take is that it will limit the number of job opportunities. Many of these languages interpreting jobs will be taken over by these machines especially if it is not related to face-to-face conversations. But one can also take advantage of these AI tools to learn more languages. If you are effective in using these tools, you might not need to learn these languages because these tools could be very helpful in the translation of languages you have a low level of mastery.

When I hear the term skills in relation to jobs, I think of things like plumbing, gas engineers and electricians. These are true trades that seem pretty timeless and in high demand, that also have a barrier of entry - requiring decent qualifications and education in order to be effective. I am actually starting to feel a bit skeptical about certain other skills in the market, like graphic design or even writing work, which is gradually being automated by artificial intelligence.
I was well informed by your post and I accept almost everything you have said. Most of these computer-related jobs can be easily taken over by these machines. So I will recommend jobs that require physical or practical skills to anybody because these jobs are ageless. The only difference is the seasonal introduction of new machines or equipment to make the job faster and easier.
574  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: While placing bet what comes your mind on: January 22, 2024, 08:42:38 PM
Yesterday was trying to place bet and during the process something in me keeps telling me to increase your wager do you know if you would hit something you never won before.. I was like is this how other people are being controlled by gambling or is it how it works? I said, no wonder some people gamble and finishes their allocation for the week or month. This can even lead someone to also go borrow if this feeling is not killed and stop, you can also see that this attributes in gambling addiction.
Such kind of thought don't just happen in gambling but in other areas of life. You will always have the feeling to put in more money in gambling or other endeavours because you might perceive that you might win big. Humorously sometimes it turns out to be the right decision and you win big from such a bet increase. And you will begin to tell how your intuition was just correct but in some other cases, you tend to regret your action and even claim that such thoughts came from the devil.

Quote
However, have you had this feeling while gambling before be it offline casino and online casinos?
I have had this feeling several times and in may of these cases I regretted my actions because I lost. From then henceforth I am not greedy to increase my bet because of a mere feeling. I always follow my gambling plans no matter how I am feeling. Although I might have won bigger in some occasions if I had increased my bet my decision has saved me from unnecessary losses and regrets.
575  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful and don’t promote a scam campaign on: January 22, 2024, 07:58:21 PM
Any scam project should not be promoted especially when everyone is aware of their illicit attitude towards their users. Despite all accusations against them they have done very little to gain trust by attending to the scam issues labeled against them.
Avoiding them would be a better approach but it seems not all members have the same view of the issue, and since promoting such projects is against the ethics of the forum majority of the participants will end up getting their accounts tagged.
The ideal thing to do is to solve issues with users before engaging in any form of promotion.
These well-known scam projects are mainly promoted by shitposters who don't care about the reputation of their account. The main focus of members who join such projects is to make money through the hook or crook. Most of the accounts that are used to promote these campaigns are worthless and receive negative tags for various offences. Other accounts that are clean are impatient to wait for better campaigns so they end up joining these scam projects because of money.

Newbies should be aware of these projects and avoid them if they want to enjoy their stay on this forum because a negative trust can destroy an account that took so much hard work to build. One of the ways to avoid joining these scam campaigns is to do research on them in this forum before joining.
576  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Rebound This Week on: January 22, 2024, 07:27:07 PM
According to data from the Coinglass platform, the current open positions in Bitcoin futures contracts have reached $17.582 billion.  CME holds the largest share at $4.769 billion, followed by Binance at $4.151 billion, and Bybit at $3.199 billion.  The substantial open interest across these platforms suggests significant market activity. So will Bitcoin rebound this week?

Bitcoin price can be unpredictable because it can be influenced by many economic factors. And most of these economic factors are also very difficult to predict. I never expected the price of Bitcoin to drop to this extent after the approval of the Spot Bitcoin ETF by the SEC. I was expecting the price to move to at least $50k but the reverse is the case now. I think the price will not recover this week and I also suspect that the price might keep depreciating until after the Bitcoin halving. As I earlier stated the price is unpredictable so a positive global economic outlook might make the price appreciate.

  • I really wanted to know about cryptocurrency but I was not really able to find such a good place and finally I found this forum so I joined this forum.I created an account on bitcointalk forum yesterday I have been wanting to join this forum for a long time but I didn't want to create an account without knowing anything about this forum so I spent the last few months roaming around different sections of this forum trying to learn about this forum finally when  I got the idea about this forum and didn't decide if I would create an account so I created an account

We have been having an increase in topics created by newbies asking almost similar questions. I suspect that the Bitcoin ETF and the upcoming halving are attracting people to the forum. OP it is great to know that you have gotten so much information about the forum before opening an account. This means that you have started getting foundational knowledge of Bitcoin and how the forum works. Nevertheless, I will encourage you to keep learning and contribute meaningfully to the forum. Always use the search option before starting a thread because this forum has many materials on almost everything about the Bitcoin and altcoins world. If you are interested in learning, you will find this forum very helpful.
578  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your state on mind if your son stole your money to gamble? on: January 20, 2024, 09:12:17 PM
Now, the mum is calling on everyone she could to intervene, discipline the child and force him to provide the money in any means he can without the concern of how he could refund the money.
The age of the child should be very important in dealing with this issue. If he is up to the age of gambling it is a stealing problem but if he is underage, the case will become more complicated.

The child shouldn't be forced to bring back the money especially if he is still depending on the parents financially except they want him to steal to repay what he has lost. What he needs is sound counseling and not threats or severe punishment. He should be told the implications of what he has done and the future consequences if he becomes addicted. He needs to know that this behavior could make him steal outside the home because he wants to satisfy his gambling urge.

Quote
Question: would she be so disheartened and mad as this if the son had won the bet on a multi million price?
Dear fellows, let's assume you are the mom, what would be your state of mind on this context?
Let's call a spade a spade, stealing is an immoral behavior regardless of the consequences. I will be mad at him and even discipline him but will still accept the win. He needs to know that I didn't support his actions and shouldn't repeat such behavior. I will be happy that he won big but I will concentrate more on his misbehavior than the money h won. From then I will keep a close eye on him to monitor his gambling activities.
579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Denying yourself comfortability in other to buy Bitcoin on: January 20, 2024, 08:55:24 PM
Based on their commitment to keep to their decision it makes me ask myself how do this set of person go about their daily lives when they know they can afford those things they see around?
Determination is the soul of every investor. This set of persons is determined to forgo pleasure because they know that the future will be better if they invest wisely today. I think that the most important needs are food, shelter, clothing, education and other basic things. For you to keep investing, there is a need to have self-control which makes one focus less on wants and more on investment.

Quote
Lastly have anyone come across any individual who will deny his comfort for Bitcoin and what do you think are their motivations?
One does not need to suffer or die because you want to accumulate Bitcoin. You have to take care of yourself and your family first before thinking of investing because there are things that are more important than making money. Investing shouldn't deprive you of the good things in life. I think we should have a budget that will help us in planning how we spend and invest our income. Our priority should be our basic needs and any remaining funds can be invested in Bitcoin. Their motivation could be to create a financially stable future for themselves and their family members.
580  Economy / Economics / Re: Passion for skills. on: January 20, 2024, 08:33:54 PM
So, my question is very simple. What skills are you currently learning or have learned and are earning from, and what is the reason why you picked it?
From close observation of the global working environment, we can conclude that artificial intelligence is one of the current technologies that is dominating the workspace. It has been reported that artificial intelligence tools will make many people jobless because they can perform almost the same things humans can do more faster and accurately. But the truth is that artificial intelligence is also creating more jobs globally. The best thing anybody could do now is to integrate AI tools into their tasks or responsibilities. Application of these tools to our work responsibilities makes the employee a highly sought-after worker.

Therefore, I am currently learning how to apply different AI applications to my profession. I am currently researching how these tools could increase the productivity of employees in my field and the result will be helpful to me and others.
