I second that, and i have said it a couple of times here already that if City don't win the league for the fourth time in a row, then it will be Liverpool who would beat them to the title. Liverpool and City have gone head to head in a lot of title races in recent years, though City came out on top in most of them, and i think the both of them are going to go at it this season again.

Of course we cannot take Arsenal completely out of the picture, but TBH i also don't think they can finish either above City or Liverpool this season, i would be surprised if that is to happen.

Im seeing it from the different perspective. 5 points are a lot when it comes to the competition between the big club. It's caused by the big club can always perform consistently and this makes the situation is hardly to change.
Just like when manchester city was winning EPL last season. Arsenal won since early - mid but city gone up since mid - late. City was winning caused by the consistency of club since middle until the end of season.

I think it's still a bit hard since Liverpool are in advantage and I agree with what you are saying but what if City also loses some points in attempt to cover the gap? It will be all same again. The pressure is too huge for the top teams in the PL table right now. The one who is consistent will be the one winning the season. Liverpool no doubt have maintained better consistency and I feel if they continue to perform like this, then they will for sure will win the title this season.

The Premier League still has a lot of match left in the second half of the season so the top four clubs still have the opportunity to collection points to fight for the Premier League title, Manchester City is still a tough competitor in the last few seasons, Liverpool and Arsenal are still trying to break Manchester City dominance in winnings the title. However because the race for the Premier League still looks quite hot because the top four clubs have a small difference in points, so we can't predict who will ultimately wins the title.

In February, the three top clubs have a tighter schedule. I think it's still a bit hard since Liverpool are in advantage and I agree with what you are saying but what if City also loses some points in attempt to cover the gap? It will be all same again. The pressure is too huge for the top teams in the PL table right now. The one who is consistent will be the one winning the season. Liverpool no doubt have maintained better consistency and I feel if they continue to perform like this, then they will for sure will win the title this season.

Man City has one match they haven't played yet. And this does give Man City an opportunity to get 3 points. But this is still not a guarantee that Manchester City will win the postponed match. Because we all know that sometimes Man City also loses or draws against weak teams. But there is a big possibility that Man City can collect full points in the postponed match.

But it is true that Liverpool this season is also very strong. Even without Mohamed Salah, we can still see Liverpool winning with a big score in yesterday's match. So there is no doubt that Liverpool is likely to maintain first place for quite a long time.

I think that's their problem this season. So many chances yet the conversion rate is so low, plus injuries here and there also worsen their form after a strong start[1]. In most of their matches against teams outside of the big six, they have a lot of xG but arguably low goal numbers. Hard to say what the coach can do other than ask for more players to be honest, their squad depth is just too poor atm imo.

They should at least win the matches against Luton and Palace this February to keep their top 6 finish alive. Assuming they lost against the rest of the big 6 for the remainder of the season, they should be able to get 20+ points if everything goes their way. There should be a decent chance considering the past few seasons the top 5 to 8 are hovering around 60-70 points. CMIIW.

I don't think who they will face in the R16 matters, to be honest. Klopp will likely rotate his players anyway. Assuming most of their players are coming back from injury they should be able to handle both Europe and Premier League just fine. He seems to be perfectly fine with fielding academy players in a cup tie anyway.

I guess it goes both ways. One unexpected loss from City and the gap grows again. While City is always consistent in the 2nd half of the season in the last three years or so, they have different players now. It will be interesting to see if Pep can keep it up or switch his playstyle to be more pragmatic to win points in the remainder of the season.

Brighton haven't been able to attack very well, if they can attack strongly they will probably win against Wolverhampton. All things considered, Brighton had 72% possession but were unable to score. Wolverhampton' goalkeeper made a good save to prevent a successful attack, and the goal remained 0-0 until the last minute. As Brighton are currently at 7th position in the points table, it doesn't look like they will be able to move up to 5th position. If they could have won the match against Wolverhampton, there would have been a chance to finish 5th in the points table, but every team needs to successfully collect points if they want to go well in the league.

It gives them more choices than their competitors and is important for them to play better than competitors and collect more points to take the title at the end. In the last six seasons, it happened in 5 seasons and the last season is an example. Arsenal hold the first position in most of season but in very last weeks, they lost it to Manchester City and ended it as a runner up.

But if we consider the current performance of both teams, Liverpool looks better than Arsenal. So, it is normal if most people assume Liverpool will win against Arsenal. If you look at that team, you would see that Liverpool have enough players to call upon, in the absence of Salah and others. That's the quality of the club.

Honestly I think Liverpool's trip to the Emirates on February 4 to take on Arsenal could be a defining fixture in this season's title race. Manchester City will be watching safe in the knowledge that at least one of their title rivals will be dropping points.
