561  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / BitmainCoin would mean another hardfork 1 year from now on: June 23, 2017, 11:52:32 AM
BitmainCoin proposes to raise the blocksize to "up to 8MB" now, but then on their roadmap they point to 8MB+, which means it would require another hardfork. They are so inconsistent in their reasoning, don't even mention that this would require another hardfork.

Jihan is the biggest troll in the game.
562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Siacoin VS Stratis - Future prospects on: June 22, 2017, 04:12:34 PM
I have no idea what Siacoin is yet, I have to look into it, because I keep hearing about it and I keep ignoring it.

Stratis.. it may be a good idea to hold some in case ETH collapses. I don't know how Stratis scales. Can it have the same problems as ETH is having? because if that's the case then there's no point. It may have the plus of being C# which is more accessible for devs but if the thing doesn't scale and we end up the same as ETH then it's pretty much pointless beyond some short term speculation.
563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What if ETH fall to zero? on: June 21, 2017, 06:36:24 PM
What will happened, if ethereum completely fails and go to zero. I know, its highly unlikly... But what if? Does it means all cryptocurrencies based on ETH will fall with it? It just makes me wonder, so I wanted to ask you guys. Thank you for your respond.

If you think ETH is going to 0, then open a short and get rich. I doubt you will do that.

I think it will survive, but it's going to dive pretty hard. People will start realizing now how much of a clusterfuck ETH is and the difficulties it will have to scale. ICO activity is making the blockchain grow at retarded rates and it's having an impact as exchanges freeze ETH trading. Get your popcorn ready.
564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: segwit2X soon? on: June 21, 2017, 03:33:53 PM
So it seems we will have a seamless transition and scaling upgrade won't disappoint us.
With so much hash power backed SegWit2x there is no way that chain will be split and I expect that other miners/mining pools will simply follow the majority.

It wont be so seamless transition, there going to be fight over the 2MB part for sure and it has potential to split Bitcoin if almost everybody relevant wont upgrade to 2MB. I think the USAF BIP148 folks wont accept 2MB and create toxic atmosphere again to prevent Core accept the 2MB part as well - potential for real Bitcoin split. So expect more drama in few months.

79.2% right now!!!

It can't get any closer. A difference of just 0.8%. I am still having a few doubts regarding it. For how long this 80% consensus needs to be maintained? And if the consensus dips below 80% for a short time period, does it gets void? This 80% mark, is it average required or the mandatory minimum?

The coinbase NYA voting is just expressing a position. The true signalling come next month when SegWit2x code is fully tested.

I'm still not sure if I'd prefer SegWit or BU but I'll take any solution since I think any one of both is necessary as soon as possible.

SegWit2x has nothing to do with BU. It is basicaly SegWit and 2MB base blocksize increase.
As pointed out the real fireworks begin in October, when the war for the 2MB increase begins, this is just a period of peace until that day comes. No amount of hashrate will brainwash me into running Garzick's software tho. Unless reputable devs back it up im not going to install that one (and all Core devs are against it).

We'll see how this resolves... at least it seems I can have a more relaxed summer and not worry about August 1st anymore.
565  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Explain pls what are sidechains and drivechains? on: June 20, 2017, 04:01:09 PM
Hi! Help me please to figure out what are sideshares and driveshares, because I am a little confused..  Huh

Quote from: luke-jr
Sidechains are the general concept of multiple blockchains using the same currency.

Drivechains are one specific way to implement sidechains, by having the miners vote on peg-outs.

566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] truly decentralized exchange | token ecosystem infrastructure on: June 20, 2017, 01:15:33 PM
Hi, could you explain what are the differences between your project and IOC and why should I invest in your project and not on IOC, or other similar projects that aim to connect different blockchains like Ark, Waves etc?

Here's the IOC whitepaper for reference:

https://internetofcoins.org/public/uploads/whitepaper_ioc.pdf

Also what will the total supply be on this one? at what rate are the coins released into the market? Is it a predictable supply? (like bitcoin:

)

In coinmarketcap it says

"10,079,084 BLOCK "

Is this the actual total supply forever or there will be some kind of inflation? How was that number determined to be the total supply?

Also another additional problems i have with Blocknet:

1) You need to run a full node for each coin you want to trade. This is unpractical because most people don't bother running full nodes. It is good to run a bitcoin core full node, but nobody that wants to speculate with alts is going to download a full node for each alt they want to trade.

2) I've heard there will be SPV support (so you can trade using wallets like Electrum) but at this point, can you still call it decentralized? Since SPV is not really decentralized.

3) I don't see what we have now as a proper exchange. It is more like a marketplace. A proper exchange needs charts, instant setting of buy and sell orders etc, high liquidity.
The reason people risk it with centralized exchanges like Poloniex is because there aren't really any other alternatives. Will you be able to achieve this same experience in a decentralized way?

What i've heard about this is pretty vague. How do you aim to achieve that in a decentralized way and working under a browser?

568  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: August 1 needs to be today... on: June 19, 2017, 03:31:49 PM
It's not good, it seems some people are switching to Litecoin for retail payments, I like BTC a lot but I don't like the way this coin is treated... it's like it's left alone doing nothing about it and meanwhile lots of altcoins are trying to take over... BTC looks like a fat coin barely moving right now folks while whales are taking as much as they can on its back, it needs to be light and have speed... if something doesn't change after August 1 will probably consider other options as well, I've believed too much in one coin and missed others on the road

The reason other coins easily upgrade their protocols is precisely because they have less people using the coin so it's easier. When a coin gets on the level of bitcoin we'll see if it's as easy for them to get things done (and proof of Vitalik doesn't count btw)
569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Name of some small coins with a stable price and a growing community on: June 19, 2017, 02:48:44 PM
I was looking at blocknet recently, the idea seems good, but the problem is I recently learned that the main dev on there is a former scammer (or at least, accused of scamming, not sure if it is a fact or not)

They have recently delivered a video making a successful decentralized exchange between two nodes tho... so that's something. The problem I see is, if you want a liquid exchange, you can't count on full nodes only, I think they are considering SPV too but not sure how it would be decentralized at that point.
570  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can anybody guide me to free satoshi? on: June 19, 2017, 02:15:50 PM
Hi i'm new!

I want to search for satoshi for free but do not know how to make a lot of money.

anybody help
thanks

Here is a list of bitcoin faucets:

http://bit.makejar.com/

Newbies used to be able to use bitcoin faucets to get their first satoshis and experiment with wallets sending satoshis around to learn, but I suspect that is useless now due the higher fees.

Until we get lighting network, microtransactions are impossible.
571  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather Vs McGregor: Info and prediction thread on: June 19, 2017, 12:25:30 PM
Can't believe this is set to go ahead. Conor needs to really work on his boxing if he's to make this a proper fight. I really like Conor but he's stepping into the unknown here, he'll obviously lose imo.
agree with that,Conor Mcgregor is my favorite UFC Athlete, but i never see him playing boxing, maybe on some video he train to play it. anyway,Maywheater superior here, because he has experience and good technique, but conor have good stamina and this would be great fight, can't wait to see their fight.
I'm not sure if conor have a good stamina if you watched his previous fight with diaz that went over 5 rounds he was so tired at that point, What more in boxing that has a total of 9-12 rounds.

McGregor was fighting at 170 lbs there... that was obviously a lot of extra weight on him. McGregor natural weight is around 155 lbs. Mayweather is a 145lbs fighter... so another advantage for McGregor is that he will fight at his natural weight and Mayweather will need to bulk a bit (the fight is happening at 154lbs). McGregor is a way bigger dude than Mayweather even tho he is not tall but he has insane shoulder span.

Mayweather's only advantage over McGregor is really boxing skills and experience, and that should be enough.
572  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin $3000 on: June 18, 2017, 06:00:36 PM
Literally any price is possible before august 1st. What's interesting is to know what the price will be after august 1st.

We have UASF camp vs Bitmain camp coming, so that's potentially how many bitcoins...3? What a shitshow. I hope it turns out okay because im not looking forward to see my BTC crash during summer.
573  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather Vs McGregor: Info and prediction thread on: June 18, 2017, 05:32:59 PM
I hope Conor wins. Conor outworks and outhustles just about anybody. I like seeing hard work pay off.
I really like these sort of match up,but i think it is too much to handle for Conor and that too facing the greatest defensive boxer of all time. What i respect about Mayweather is that he is a clean fighter, which means he never uses drugs nor uses alcohol, basically he is not a junkie and he is constantly practicing and working out with his students,so i do find it hard to see Conor win,but he might land some punches which could surprise Mayweather and i am sure if Mayweather schools him then Conor might use his round house kick. Cheesy

Conor needs to KO him in the first couple of rounds while Mayweather tests him to read his game and adjust. In MMA you keep a massive distance compared to boxing because of the kicks and takedown attempts, in boxing it's much closer, so if Conor sticks to MMA type pf distance and tries to be awkward to confuse Mayweather, he will need some rounds to adjust.

The interesting statistic that I would need to know is how many opponents has Floyd fought where he didn't had the reach advantage, because Conor has the reach advantage in this fight.
574  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather Vs McGregor: Info and prediction thread on: June 17, 2017, 06:16:51 PM
Mayweather is the favorite , and I think he will win with some problems , for sure McGregor will hit good impacts.
Its insane if gayweather got defeated by mcgreggor from his field boxing master like gayweather loves to win big money and its really just for money because if he really aiming for more stardom he should fight pacman instead but money talks a lot for this champ just play for more dollars ahead.
Mayweather haters make me laugh. To do what he did 49 times takes a special skill. If it was as easy as "running" you would be a multimillionaire boxing success too. I've been in the ring with a professional (for sparring session) and I got outboxed (and im not a noob). This gives you perspective to see how Mayweather outboxed 49 professionals while remaining undefeated.

Mayweather gets both more money and more stardom than fighting Pacquiao again. Conor is a bigger attraction than Pacman, and Mayweather vs Conor will sell more tickets than Mayweather vs Pacman did. It will break all records. You would need to be a retard to pass on this deal.
575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC: moon or doom? on: June 17, 2017, 06:08:59 PM
LTC  is hitting ATH in terms on dollars, but by looking at the Poloniex all-time-graph, the peak was 0.03 (current price being 0.175). Now the question is: Will people dump because they pay more attention to dollar tops rather than BTC tops? or are we going to hit 0.03+? Can the pump be sustained across July as the uncertainty of the bitcoin scaling situation goes on?

I should have bought when it was flat but I was a bit worried of further dips, now I fucked up because buying at $ATH is too risky...
576  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather Vs McGregor: Info and prediction thread on: June 17, 2017, 03:29:17 AM
That actually shows that Conor is in reality a douche bag. Floyd is not called Money for nothing. If there was a better hustler than Conor it is Floyd. He has been in the promotions game longer.

But with Floyd giving Conor this deal then he must have seen something in him.

The only thing Floyd has seen is 9 figures. Floyd said he would never fight again for less than 9 figures, and Conor is the only deal that generate that kind of money with the less risk. Fighting GGG or Lomachenko would be too much.
577  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather Vs McGregor: Info and prediction thread on: June 17, 2017, 02:09:15 AM
Has McGregor started trash talking yet?  I'm looking forward to that more than the bout itself.  We all know this is really all a dog and pony show to make money on the fans off both MMA and boxing.  Still I hope Mac vs May will still put on a good show.

And what are the under cards of this event?  I think they should promote more MMA vs boxing matches in it.  Grin

Both McGregor and Mayweather have started their mindgames already. McGregor is caling him old by posting pics of his father on instagram:

https://www.instagram.com/p/BVVbqGLgwxF/?taken-by=thenotoriousmma
https://www.instagram.com/p/BVREuFYACOT/?taken-by=thenotoriousmma

Floyd is dressing up as him and basically calling him out for acting as if he is richer than he really is:

https://www.instagram.com/p/BVTpr42gFIo/?taken-by=floydmayweather
https://www.instagram.com/p/BVV9c-GgGSq/?taken-by=floydmayweather

The psychological warfare is on.

I can't wait for the actual trashtalking to begin.
578  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather Vs McGregor: Info and prediction thread on: June 16, 2017, 02:28:11 AM
I will bet on McGregor in this match, MMA is different from Boxing it is brutal, If odds is 7:1 then it is better to bet on McGregor. Last time i saw the news about how MCGregor practice is very different very intensive and i think he is very prepared in this match, Unlike on mayweather  he's taking it lightly because he is thinking that he is unbeatable in the boxing ring.

I hope that you are aware that you are betting for McGregor to have his 1 in 100 chance of connecting a full blown punch on Mayweather and stunt him.

Even if Conor manages to get a full impact and clip him, people forget Mayweather has a good chin and can take a good hit. Look at the Shane Mosley fight. Mosley almost KO's him on the first rounds, he managed to recover himself and he won the rest of the rounds. It takes amazing willpower for that.

Mayweather usually leans back and counteracts the force of the punches the opponent is throwing, but Mosley on that round managed to land a full punch.

So in case Conor manages to do that, it doesn't mean he will win anyway.

Im not counting Conor out btw, just being realistic.
579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another successful short by Jihan & Ver on: June 15, 2017, 04:30:35 PM
these days it seems like bitcoin investors are all a bunch of trigger happy people who have their cursors ready on the sell button whilst shaking in fear Smiley

- i have no complaints though, it is more cheap coins for me, um num num

All the newbies that came into the space recently expected quick gains, now this will make them panic sell hard. When newbies look at coinmarketcap and see how all altcoins are going red too, it will be a nice shakeout of doubters on crypto being the future. They will be back too to buy the tip and sell the dip which is what noobs do.
580  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another successful short by Jihan & Ver on: June 15, 2017, 03:07:59 PM
The fall is down to $700 now. I wonder how much money they've made thus far, these guys are moving massive margins, manipulating the price and using the gains to further feed their propaganda machines.

Wow..How can they manipulate market prices so easily?
I have been waiting for an answer to that for years. IMO, they can't and those who say they can never seem to be able to explain how.

Ehh.. its easy. Just have a mining monopoly and threaten with a hardfork, just don't forget to set your short before you make the blog post/tweet/whatever. You aren't new. You should remember the fears of XT hardfork, Classic hardfork, BU hardfork... it always results on dips. We saw this on litecoin too where the price pretty must reacted to the miners juggling around with the segwit activation.

Just buy the dip. Anyone with a strong hand in bitcoin will dump their split of JihanCoin if a hardfork actually happens.
