561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Official Sexcoin Thread - Lavapit Beta !! on: August 19, 2013, 02:12:06 AM
Yeap... and back down to 10 MH.. thats more like it...

Chatting to everbody in general....

Well, we wanted to use the 69 sxc bonus on the lavapit but nobodys using it..

Seems everybody likes the P2pool, and aren't moving away so, we decided to go with the flow,

The p2pool will operate like it's always operated and we'll keep up the bonus as long as we can..

By the way, If you are confused about the logo's floating around, we are just publically spit balling..

We have decided to change it for good reason.. Like does the GPL include images or just the code..

Would a homosexual feel that a depiction of sex as something that happens between a man and a woman feel a little miffed ? Is it fun, sexy and a little cheeky ? Is it something a commerical site would want to post on their site? Something that apeals to a user?

Once we have a good idea of what we want, we'll hand it off to a proffesional graphic designer so we end up with a kick ass logo, much the same as bbq coin did with their face lift.

And for anybody wondering the name stays the same ... It'll change over our collective dead bodies..

we've got a fair bit of time, so if anybody has any feedback or ideas, we are all ears...

It's quiet ... too quiet... So I've been playing with Text effects.. The devil heart would look better straightened up, me thinks

Now 'll check out the mining site.. There's got to be a problem somewhere...

I decided to pimp out the first page a little.. after all we are supposed to be SXC
567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Official Sexcoin Thread - Pool Beta Testing Bonus on: August 17, 2013, 01:27:22 AM

Thank you LittleDigger - that is definitely accurate - I do not know how to implement the bonus block finding, nor have the code savy to design this in to the software, and have stated such.

I CAN however apply updates to the services and patches as needed. I'm not a n00b by far, but I am not a developer either Wink I am savy with compiling stuff from source, and using git repos to upgrade, and svn's...but again - I'm limited to the abilities of a sys admin, and a code enjoying enthusiast.

In other words, you are just like me, and sometimes you are on a steep learning curve.. just the sort of person who belongs here..

And I can be a bit funny, a bit overprotective of SXC.. It's my baby, and I worry about it.. probably have a little difficulty letting go when it's grown enough and it's time to let it go and make it's mark in the world
568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Official Sexcoin Thread - Pool Beta Testing Bonus on: August 16, 2013, 05:45:14 AM
I'm surprised, there is no fedora- or openSUSE-build in your homepage.

Joe, Lynos is working his magic on a "Miners Site", My vision for it is downloads for all the clients, in fact there is one for Red Hat in the works... The MMCFE front end we used for the "Lavapit" didn't payout properly, it skipped blocks and dumped the proceeds to the pool op. It probably wasn't built for faster alts . I said it was "Hard to spot", but we are honest and Lava wants to post the results on Github, so anybody who wants to run an honest pool can. That would be good to have on the site as well. Also a "p2pool pack" that has everything you need to run a p2pool on a windows box, with step by step instuctions, and links to mining software and tutorials. Your contributions will definately be there..

Fendle has put up the "merchants" site... that will have all the stuff that merchants want, widgets, plugins, marketing graphics, etc. Basically the non-cryptojunky stuff.

We really appreciate the work you did on the fedora build, and I would have liked to move it into the sexcoin repository on github so all the clients could be found in one place, but I didn't want you to feel we were taking credit for your great work..

I am getting bonus blocks paid-out. Everything seems to work fine for me. The only thing I still wish to see is this back on the exchanges. Even if it is a private exchange, setup by some of the people using the coin for selling goods.

Well, then, he must have found the fix himself, good on him! or maybe lava sent him the fix, doesn't matter as long as it works.
Lava's close to releasing his fairly paying pushpool frontend on github, so that means anybody will be able to put up a push pool without a hassle. I think he's doing some compiling so he can run the lavapit on that new server in the datacenter for its beta...

I wasn't aware that is was ever on the exchanges,or that it had been dropped ? Which one ? With all the work thats been done, maybe we can get it relisted.. Though not Crypsty... SXC deserves better..

Miners, I ve been watching the hashrate over the last few days.. Remember I said we would enjoy making out like bandits with low difficulty , low hash and no spikes.. well its been climbing steadily and it's at 14 M/h now... so if your wondering why your SXC booty is so low (Saying that can get you slapped in a nightclub) , then now you know why... We are on the radar..

Do I get tired of being wrong ? Nah..It's a gift  Wink

And Kesley is a winner ..again..he's good, damn good...  Grin

One thing I would like is a little feedback on how we are doing as devs..

I noticed Gr33k started a push pool for "spots" and it went straight to the OP of their thread..

I checked the new sexcoin pool out before I even considered endorsing it, Gr33k honestly admitted it didn't pay out bonus blocks, and lava is going to help him with that when he can...

I think it's in the best interests of the coin to make sure of things and to look after our miners who are loyal.. I'd rather a reputation for honesty and thoroughness ... even if it means less pools at this point..

How does everybody else feel in general ?

573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Official Sexcoin Thread - Pool Beta Testing Bonus on: August 15, 2013, 06:24:19 AM
Ok officail update time...

As you already know,Lynos is working on a site for us..

When I first discussed it with him, he advised me to talk to Fendle, and go with a "biz" design, because fendle was good at them. I said that there were many alts out there, and I believed people were getting cynical about the "wordpress theme trying to look corporate" altcoin websites out there. I wanted a site that showed we were different, and the corporate look could wait.

When Fendle posted his info site, I thought it looked fantastic and realised what a bad decision I had made, a crisp clean proffesional site was a must have, and the sooner the better.. I decided the way to fix my mistake was to have two sites..One for miners and pool operators with clients, pool software that works properly, network information and tutorials and One for merchants with clients, plugins and widgets for websites etc...

When I asked Fendle if he could do a "merchants website" he was willing to go one better, and come onboard the "Dev Team"..Lava's happy with this and I'm estatic.. Fendle is bringing skills and knowlegde that are vital to SXC's success.

He knows the industry.. What it needs, how it works, what branding appeals to it, how to intergrate crypto into it's websites, what features need to go into the client to satisfy it's particular needs..

Now I know some of you won't be happy with this, but there was a condition. The logo had to change. he had coherrant reasons for this, and the design of the new logo is up for discussion and input.. It's not written in stone.

I know we have SXC fans who might protest about that, because the logo represents the coin, and they love the coin, but at the end of the day they don't have to worry about getting sued for theft of intellectual property.. There may not be much of a case , but leagal fees would be crippling even so.. and thats just one concern,.. There are a few others... The new logo will be written into the GPL of the next client release so it will be the communities property.. devs might come and go, the community may change, but the logo will always belong to the community..

Fendle has the final call, but we want it to look great in 3d.

The P2pool should be out of beta, and the pushpool should go into beta, but Lava found one of those nasty flaws in the pushpool that only shows up after running it for weeks. he's fixed it, but wants more tweaks.
I'm not sure how he wants to do it, but I'm sure that will be sorted soon.. Until a descision is made, we'll keep our bonus on the p2pool which is running nicely...

and I think thats about it...
574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] SXC Offical Site - www.sexcoin.info on: August 15, 2013, 06:20:54 AM
Well anybody of cares to give SXC a 2nd look will see how improved it is.  Adult is a hard sell, people can be reluctant to get involved.

We've made a lot of progress.. sorting out good pool software has taken some time out of client development, but then the next release will be industry freindly.. and nuturing network growth is very important too.. I think we are doing great, and as we progress the sell will come easier..

I'm curious to see how many exchanges suddenly drop their objections when it really takes off and they realise they are missing out on profits...
575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] SXC Offical Site - www.sexcoin.info on: August 15, 2013, 06:14:38 AM

576  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] SXC Offical Site - www.sexcoin.info on: August 15, 2013, 05:32:34 AM
Yeap.. Half the time I post something and go "is this really a good idea" maybe I should get some feedback, first. (like the mini-rant about censorship a few posts ago) But this time I got to say exactly what I wanted, and I feel good about it, because I've been dying to say it... And I get a good feeling about the attitudes of the guys running the exchange, it's alot like ours... even if we asked them to list our coin and they refused, I'd still like them..

578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BETA][EXCHANGE][REALTIME] CoinEX realtime exchange with ZERO FEES for beta on: August 15, 2013, 04:54:04 AM
No exchange has SXC, it has a network hash rate of around 8.5mh, higher than quite a few exchangeable coins.  If you don't like the name or just don't want it that's fine. But it has alot of potential, is a decent coin and could do really well with a little support.

Let's take the time to express the case for SXC. It's been around since the 28th of May and is stronger than a lot of coins already on exchanges. It's not shrinking as some coins who are listed on exchanges, but experiencing steady growth. It is being accepted by a couple of sites that aren't run of the mill like altcoin casinos, and has sites that have undertaken to use it as soon as it hits an exchange. It even out-lasted "porncoin" which competed directly with it... Why ?

I'll be the first to admit the client is nothing special.. yet. The single most valuable atribute of the coin is the industry it targets.

The gameing industry experienced difficulties, particularly with piracy. Anybody could copy a CD. The industry moved towards a subscription model, where the game itself was relatively cheap, but a monthly subscription would be required to play online, and finally there was an explosion of microtransactional business models, where the game was free to play, but the income stream depended on the sale of many small additional items within the game. "Farmville" is an example of the success of the microtransactional business model.

The music industry is an example of an industry which has struggled with piracy, and again if you pay to download a single song, you are participating in a microtransactional business model.

The Adult entertainment industry, unlike othe entertainment industries is struggling to introduce microtransactional business models. Many sites are already using a "in house" currency, but a cohesive payment system that can be used across the entire industry didn't exist. Until SXC.. and the industry is estimated to turn over between 10 and 14 billion dollars annually.. SXC has potential.

At this point there may be those considering churning out a client and competeing with us. I welcome you..

This is because the other thing SXC has that other cryptocurrencies don't is ... people. We have one developer who isn't too familar with coding clients.. But he does have an intimate knowledge of the industry, the special requirements that should be coded into the client, and how the currency must be intergated into sites for adoption, as well as contacts within the industry.

And yes, we've had exchanges voice concern over our branding and demand that it be changed before it was accepted. But SXC isn't branded to appeal to an exchange. It isn't branded to appeal to anybody in the cryptocurrency community at all .. It's branded to appeal to the users and owners of sites involved in the Adult Entertainment Industry because it's end goal is to be used in online commerce rather than speculation.

I'll admit we have a small development team, though it is much larger than most, and we work hard. But once again we have something some other alts don't ...a real community. We have talented people who are passionate about the coin and want to contribute to it's success, so we have our "graphics guys" and "fedora guy" and a wealth of skills and knowledge to assist us in development.

Finally we have an attitude that other developers don't. We are geniune and passionate about what we do and reflect that in our dealings with our miners, pool operators and supporters. We are inclusive and try to consider the input of our community members, and honestly convey our progress even if it's "bad news". We actively engage and support them as much as they support us.

And if progress seems slow, it's because we are willing to take the time to do it right, because we don't want to do it over, and we are willing to make long term investments in our project.

I'm not asking your to include the coin on your exchange, indeed some in our community such as miners are against it's inclusion on an exchange at the moment. I have publicly been against it's inclusion on a particular exchange because I have concerns about their policies. Finally we don't have a "CEO", we have a community and generally act on consenus. But I do admire your approach to your exchange and wanted to put SXC on your radar.

I sincerely wish you every success in your new venture, and would enjoy any interaction in the future.
579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] New SexCoin Pool - http://thec0de.com/pool on: August 15, 2013, 03:15:38 AM

Thank you good sir - and Good Luck Smiley

I don't know how to handle the bonus coins just yet...figured pool operator bonus and then send them out to members somehow - prizes or something..

I"m fresh out of a meeting on IRC .. And I brought up this issue with the "pushpool guy" who said he knows the problem and how to fix it.. He's finally gotten to bed, but he said he'll ping you so it can be sorted out and miners can have confidence in your pool.. We'll even help you promote it..

I'm sorry it's taken a while to get back to you, I know that "hardest working devs" line sounds like PR, but it's not. There has been allnighters sorting out issues while there's real world jobs and families to attend to, and we try to take the time to do it right, because we don't have the time to keep doing it over.

Theres alot in the works too.. as it bears fruit we'll have more miners, and there you'll be with a fully functioning pushpool with a good rep and no issues instead of something thats knocked upon the spot.. That may be an awfully good position to be in..
