I recommend checking out whattomine.com

I wonder what type of memory the ref models will ship with

Curiously, how well do custom timings play with other algos? Is this just a Ethereum only thing (or dual mining)?

What happens if you try to run cards with custom timings on something like Equihash?

Using my eth timings for zec worked fine. However there may be more optimum timings for zec or xmr compared to the eth ones frequently discussed.

I seem to recall someone saying https://www.superbiiz.com/ is good for bulk (may even have bulk discount).. you may have to contact them about the bulk or bulk discount

I have a request about an issue I'm having. In the simple rig resetter tool, on my computers that are headless (without monitor or high res dummy plug) the resolution is too low to access the side of the program to set the parameters and save and install the auto restart stuff. I can't increase the resolution any higher than that default low one and I can't scroll to the side.

could you somehow make the program in windows scroll able so I can scroll to the side like in a browser?
Nope i cant do scrollable program.
Try changing dpi in windows to lower meaby it will help?

Seems like I can only get it to zoom in (if I'm adjusting the right thing) where as I would need it to zoom out to get to the side stuff)

I'm interested in building a frame but don't know where to start. I've been using milk/file crates for my rigs. Any pointers?

this one is an oldie but still the best I have used for understanding the basics of a wooden frame for mining.

Thanks I appreciate the input.. Do you use any wood frames? I was thinking metal like alluminum. I question the safety of wood rigs.. although hey! I have mine in plastic which may not be ideal either
567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASIC Quality and Undervolting on: March 31, 2017, 09:45:38 PM
In my experience, with lower asic quality, you can downvolt more.

Sounds like you mean you can use a greater offset since the default voltage is higher with lower asic.. but figuring set voltages.. I'm guessing you wouldn't want to set a lower asic to 900mv whhile a higher one is 920mv... but maybe the opposite.. I'm trying to figure out how much the difference can be

569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: the best riser extraction on: March 31, 2017, 05:55:18 PM
Both molex and pci powered risers should be fine. Pci "may" be safer but molex seems sufficient. Be careful with sata powered.

with EVGA power supplies you can use a mix of molex and pci powered risers since you don't get enough for all molex or pcie. (Although technically you could go all pci if you had 6gpus and had 6 psu pcie 6+2pin + 6+2pin. The cords with 2 pci connections on one end.)
570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MSI RX470 (Samsung) IS BEST PROFIT for gpu mining 29.2 MH/s on: March 31, 2017, 05:22:04 PM
Setting 2000-2100Mhz for any 4GB is not good because after 12hours or so you will get like 5% hardware errors per GPU.

Only way to fix those is to do a hard power shutdown and reset.

Why do you think hardware errors are limited to 4gb cards when mem is clocked from 2000+? If I remember correctly I got hardware errors on both 4gb and 8gb cards but just ignore them (as ignoring them seems to be the consensus)
571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MSI RX470 (Samsung) IS BEST PROFIT for gpu mining 29.2 MH/s on: March 31, 2017, 04:36:44 PM
Samsung is not the best, I have 3 Elpida 470s dual mining at 30-31.

Do they consume extra power for that? If so the efficiency isn't worth it

I don't know how he got close to 30-31 with elpida unless you customized his own memory strap

EDIT: I PM'd him. It seems he just has good elpida chips.. It seems not all elpida are the same as mine aren't stable past 1975 or 2000.

Regarding your 470s with elpida hashing at 30-31, which mem strap did you use? Or if you used a custom mem strap, did you base it off one of the original like 1500, 1625, or 1750? and what is your mem clock?

1500. all 6 of my visiontek 470s hit 2080 mem.

Does anyone know if modded bios and/or modifying straps plays well with dual mining?

Works great for me. In fact I recommend both modding (specifically only the straps and then undervolting with wattTool) and dual mining at current prices

That is fair enough.. 2100 is low enough to potentially work on most gpus and be stable. and with the custom mod tool it gives great mhs anyway so all is well. Thanks for the answers!

On another note I used to use 1500 strap with hynix (and now using the 1500 strap custom modded) but am now testing hynix mem with the
custom modded 1625 mem strap as it seems it may be slightly better mhs (figuring in 1625 mem strap can work with mem clocked a bit higher than 1500) What do you all think?
575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hashrate RX 470 on: March 31, 2017, 02:25:45 PM
7 x MSI RX 470 Gaming X 4GB
Al Hynix Memory

Using custom 1625 strap. All mods done in the bios and used on all cards except 1, which I had to "degrade" slightly.
1160 watts at the wall.

This is a nice first try, but you can decrease the wattage dramatically. You can have similar hash rates with 800W

What is the easiest way to lower power consumption, can i just lower core voltage in afterburner?I have 8gb msi rx470.

Yes also lower core clock to 1150 or less (I used to use 1111 but now use 1130.. many others use 1150 which is usually 0.15mhs faster if i recall correctly)
576  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASIC Quality and Undervolting on: March 31, 2017, 02:20:06 PM
Not quite what you're asking but for nvidia 750 Ti's and 970's I didn't notice ANY connection between OC stability and ASIC quality. For the 1xxx series you can no longer see ASIC quality. AMD and undervolting might be completely different though.

Yeah I'm curious about the AMD undervolting, thanks though.
577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / ASIC Quality and Undervolting on: March 31, 2017, 02:13:46 PM
In regards to the AMD rx series gpus, how much do you factor in asic quality when undervolting (when using predefined core clock like 1150clock)?

I have been ignoring asic quality but it seems maybe I could undervolt my higher asic cards a bit more... so i'm wondering like what metric or how much further they can be undervolted...

Let's say a card with 70% asic is stable at 920mv... would a 80% be stable at 900mv? 880mv? Lower? How much does asic quality even matter for this?
578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Need help with a minig rig on: March 30, 2017, 10:19:05 PM
You can get them for around 150 or less new.. look for rebates on newegg or amazon

Can a voltage offset (either through bios or something like WattTool) yield lower power consumption than just setting the undervolt to the same low value the offset would be at?

Otherwise, besides it being in the bios. I don't see much of a point to using an offset
580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Custom RAM Timings for GPU's with GDDR5 - DOWNLOAD LINKS - UPDATED on: March 30, 2017, 09:10:56 PM
I used this tool:

0150E2A3186272E16">http://doreymills.ca/cgi-bin/strapmod?555000000000000022CC1C00AD515A3EC0570E142D4A64080049C700030114207A8900A00300000 0150E2A3186272E16

(not that strap) to modify a 480 with samsung mem, 1750, strap, and it seems to max mhs at 2100 mem clock. I can clock it to 2125 but the mhs stays about the same and if I clock it higher than 2125, the mhs drops.. any idea why? I was hoping to get my clock closer to 2200
