5621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is XRP displacing Polkadot? on: February 02, 2021, 09:02:13 AM
...
After ripple dumped from $0.75 recently to $0.37, ripple is still above polkadot with over $1 billion marketcap. Ripple is a strong cryptocurrency. After it was delisted on several United States exchanges,it still mentain the fourth position in ranking. I do not like ripple because it is not decentralized, but I do not think comparing it with polkadot is appropriate. Though polkadot is now a strong coin but ripe is for now stronger.

When I went through your account, I can see you are having 58 smerits, that is good enough for this giveaway. But no matter how we encourage new members, the ones that will climb the ladder will climb it. New members should realize how it is important for not to forget that this forum is about bitcoin, this will help them. But not all new members are after merits though but the ones that are after it will get it with quality posts.

If you think a member still deserve more merits and want merit source to be involved, some will look into this thread possibly but reporting such posts to a thread created by LoyceV "Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source" may be helpful.
5623  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dice games on: February 02, 2021, 07:40:30 AM
its not always a happy ending when you gamble but you can always stop when you are winning.
But I noticed gambling is difficult to deal with while wining, you will want to win more. Only experienced gamblers are the ones that win stop after wining, but only few out of the experienced gamblers will do. While many are experienced but gain at first and emotion unknowly to them set in and make them lose.

One thing I noticed about my gambling strategies is that it is easy for me at start to win but still betting further with experience got me losses. I did not know how this do happen, but it has happened countless numbers of time.
5624  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why gambling money are avoided? on: February 02, 2021, 07:27:31 AM
If you are not gambling with terrorists and money launderers, why will you avoid gambling money. Gambling money are cool money if you win. Trading money also is cool money if you win, but the losses can make someone to be sad, that is why we should cut our cloths according to our sizes, never use what can not be afforded by you to lose.
5625  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best altcoins to HODL? on: February 02, 2021, 07:07:22 AM
Some say altcoins pump once, then itīs over forever. But thatīs not always true. If the coin has real technology and usage behind it we could see it go to the moon in the future. Which altcoins have the best potential to stick around and create gains in the future?
As you can see, there are many of these altcoins that are good to hold, there are many of them but what we need is to know the right time to hold them, even if you plan to hold bitcoin but in the wrong time, you can end up losing for few years before the price will rise above the initial price while altcoins may fall in a way it may not get to that initial price for many more years. Just have your analysing skills and be patient and hold only when the price of the altcoin of interest has falling Ori e already before holding. Ethereum, Litecoin, Chainlink, Cardona, Doge, Ripple and many others are good to hold, but holding in the right time is the way for profitable holding strategies.
5626  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Keep ERC20 token on Metamask or Ledger? on: February 02, 2021, 06:51:59 AM
Ok. Do you have any thoughts on why all ERC20 tokens arenīt added to Ledger (Live) by Ledger? I find it messy to store different ERC20 tokens in different wallets.
I am not sure about this, ledger support over 1500 ERC20 tokens, if ledger support ethereum, that means ledger is also support the ERC20 tokens as the wallet was built to function that way. I will suggest using hardware wallet like ledger if you are dealing with high amount of ERC20 token, it is safer because it is offline wallet rather than using web wallet which need more protection because of more vulnerabilities.
5627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The simple way stablecoins work on: January 31, 2021, 03:48:40 PM
Most Stablecoins Can Be Frozen, Even in Your Own Wallets[/url]
Tether has that bad reputation to freeze people tether holding, that is why many people even from this forum are not recommending tether because tether company can freeze someone's tether holdings. Also the CBDC that wants to be made will almost work this way to freeze people's holdings too, but their are good ones like Dai.
5628  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Rules for profitable investments (crypto) on: January 31, 2021, 03:40:38 PM
I think its eliminating the emotions at the beginning, their are various emotions, -angry,sad,happy,fear and more- but this emotions has it pressure/adrenaline and when Its at excess can be the determinants of your trading/investing.

A trade can be joyful but after that trade, clear your emotion tank and except anything from the next trade.
Exactly while I said OP is not completely right because that statement without explaining it will make new traders not to understand. For example, if I trade and I lose, it is my emotion I have to deal with at that point because it will be like for me to trade more instantly even without thinking about good analyses but just want to earn my money back, the time is the best time for traders to lose all their money, they have to wait and let good trading mindset set in again before trading. Traders should not also be thinking about what they have lost, they should focus on how they can win to set in good trading mindset.
5629  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The simple way stablecoins work on: January 31, 2021, 03:18:32 PM
A stablecoin is a form of cryptocurrency thats value is fixed by pegging it to the price of another asset.
This is how exactly stable coins are but not correct if you see it another way arround. With this definition, wbtc, rbtc and many pegged tokens like that are begged with bitcoin, they are mimicking the price of bitcoin, but are they stablecoin while their prices are stable with bitcoin price but they are not stable coins. I believe the real name people should call this stable coins are fiat-pegged coins. They are called stable coins, but practically they are not stable, they follow the value of fiats. If fiat devalue they will also devalue.

The real purpose of stablecoins is to make your coins fixed at a point that you convert.
Stable coins are not having fixed price, they are only pegged with fiats like you quoted above.

During the current bull, many hodl their portfolio in stablecoin and I believe this is a very wise think to do and stable coin is the reason that people are seeing cryptocurrency as having fiat relation and impart in terms of value and stability.
Yes, that is how it works with cryptocurrencies, fiat pegged coins are safe haven when unstable coins are falling in price, while unstable coins are converted back to if bull run has started.

3. Eliminate your emotions when investing
This your statement needs explanations, just putting it down like this is completely wrong. Are good feeling, sadness and depression not emotions? If you trade and you win, won't you be happy? If you lose, won't you be sad? Online machines and bots will not have emotion but as a human, the result of your trades will determine your emotion state of mind.
5631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interesting Data: Top bitcoin or cryptocurrency apps of certain countries on: January 30, 2021, 07:34:21 PM
Binance is just the best, coinbase restricts many countries not to use their trading platform, but binance is available to many countries of the world. Binance is not allowed in United State, it could have been the dominated exchange in United States, but they have Binance US. In my opinion, I prefer binance also with its low withdrawal fee and low trading fee.
5632  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Why shouldn't you deposit fiat into binance to buy crypto? on: January 30, 2021, 02:57:34 PM
People are recommending to buy cryptos on coinbase and then transfer it to binance to trade there. Why?
That is wrong, you can buy crypto on binance or coinbase depending on the one you want and like. Coinbase is not available in many countries that binance support. You can also buy crypto on binance directly from the bank or through credit cards like Master and Visa cards. Binance is one of the exchange with good low trading, buying and withdrawal fee.
5633  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Not your keys, not your Bitcoin on: January 30, 2021, 01:28:19 PM
TW is non-custodial alright but it's not the best example to compare with Coinbase. While one is custodial and the other is not, both are closed source. That means it's not that trustworthy too since there's no transparency and review or audit is close to a few developers unlike open source non-custodial wallets such as Electrum. Check this topic https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5244810.msg54332332#msg54332332
In my opinion I think both should not be considered good, coinbase.com is just a custodial wallet which means you do not have complete control over your own coins, your coinbase account can be controlled in a way you will not be able to make use of your own cryptocurrencies because it has no private key given. Trust wallet is close source, I will not also go for close source because my bitcoin worth more than money. Both of them can not just be considered a good wallet.

5635  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What makes ledger nano special on: January 29, 2021, 12:48:16 PM
Why does it have to be open source?
Because you know the source code. Like for example:

Electrum is recommended it is open source, but it is also online wallet like coinomi. Only what can be said is that too much bitcoin should not be stored using electrum wallet but highly recommended because it is open source. I hope you can get what I am trying to explain. This is also the reason why it (electrum) is recommended to use to connect hardware wallets just because it is open source, because people trust open source.
5636  Other / Beginners & Help / What makes ledger nano special on: January 29, 2021, 12:21:55 PM
I have spent awhile on this forum, I noticed many members do not like close source wallets, that is why they do not like to mention wallets like Coinomi and Trust because they are close source. When I later know the reason not to like close source wallet because the programming used to build the codes can not be accessed by anyone that uses the wallet, members believe they are not appropriate because our bitcoin is more important, that we should know about everything that we use to hold our bitcoin like the wallet and the blockchain to all have open source codes.

But I noticed about hardware wallet, trezor is open source, keepkey is open source, coldcard is open source, ledger nano is closed source. These are the hardware wallets I have come about on this forum while trezor and ledger nano are the most mentioned.

Members do comment bad about close source but they comment good about ledger nano even after the ledger database was hacked. What can be the reason for still recommending ledger nano.

Are ledger nano wallet developers trust worthy and because of that trust the close source code used?
Is it because ledger is a hardware wallet?
Is it because ledger is costly and people think the ledger developers will focus only on how to sell more than to be planning for dubious source codes?
Why are people not commenting good about close source but comment good about ledger nano wallet while it is close source. I am confused.
5637  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why you don't need to think of ranking up? on: January 29, 2021, 08:50:20 AM
Having passion for bitcoin and not lazy and more understanding of this forum will help new members.

I think its been months now already that all the newbies are asking how will I Rank Up
Since I joined I have seen new members asking this question which means the question is common since the start of merit system.

One more thing don't get offended when someone corrects you, it does not mean they hate you
Who listens to no correction is a fool, if someone in the game many years ago with ranked account correct newbie, accepting the correction is the best way to rank higher. It can be painful that ranked members are correcting you in 3 million members forum but you will first learn and you will correct newbies when you rank up. That is the is purpose of this forum, to learn and correct, to know more about how to protect yourself online, offline and keeping your cryptocurrencies safe.

Coinbase.com is different from coinbase wallet app, coinbase.com is a custodial wallet and have no private key given to users just like you said but the company manage the private keys themselves. Everything you said about them is correct but there is another coinbase wallet called coinbase wallet app, it is a noncustodial wallet. It will generate you seed 12 phrase. The private key to the seed phrase can not be seen on the wallet directly. I have just used iancoleman just 5 minutes ago, the seed phrase is truly BIP39, iancoleman generates the private key for me. For priove, if you have an Android device, just download the wallet and generate your seed phrase, then use iancoleman to get your private key.

On Android
Link to coinbase wallet app download: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.toshi
Link to coinbase.com download: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coinbase.android

Secondly, the coinbase wallet app (not coinbase.com) also support both segwit and legacy addresses

In Portfolio view of my Coinbase account, the coins purchased are in wallet.
What is the difference b/w this wallet and Coinbase Wallet app.
Coinbase.com is a wallet but a custodial wallet, you do not hold the private key, coinbase do hold the key which means you do not have the full control of the funds on it, you only control it when coinbase allow you to control it, thy can freeze your account in a way you will not be able to use the  coin because you do not habe the private keys to the cryptocurrencies stored on the wallet.

On the other hand, coinbase wallet app have seed phrase, I have used the seed phrase to get private key before, but it can not be shown on the wallet unless you use tools to know the private key. Which means the private key is the BIP39 one that generates private key which unlocks bitcoin stored on blockchain by the owner.if you have the coinbase wallet app means you you will have seed that will generate you private key that makes you to have the full control over any coin stored on the private keys.
