5641  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos - IP Needs Unbanning on: October 12, 2015, 03:28:17 AM
Why don't you simply ask for a new IP address from your VPS provider and/or create a new VPS that is on a new IP address?
I don't know if that is standard but isn't changing IP usually cost money? Not to mention to buy new VPS service?
If he can unblock it directly via forum, it will be cost free for him.

Depends on the VPS some charge by number.  So if you drop the current one... then add back might get a new ip for cheap.

But again that goes back to band-aid fix.  If it does it again and again not really good solution.  Best solution is a unbanning and I hope whitelist of the IP addresss.  But the good thing is this is just the part that sends out PM's so it did not really make bot come to standstill.  So could be worse.
5642  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: October 12, 2015, 03:23:55 AM
I hope the R2 uses 802.11ac along with the bm1385 chip and someone is able to hack the firmware to mine on the pool of our choice as well as acting like a network extender instead of a router.  I would pay $50 for that, although it would still probably only get 25GH/s.

I really don't need the network part with my nighthawk I love my network.   I had a crazy amount of clients and upgraded and it's been perfect.  It was kinda sad to switch from my old ddwrt.... i stuck with it for years.

I really just want a lotto device and reliable controller for U series (and even other sticks if possible).  So if they made just a lotto box without all the networking I would be happy.
5643  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: October 12, 2015, 03:16:38 AM
Does anyone have one lying around in Aus or close by?

I have a S3 controller laying around that I found.  It needs flashed it lost power during a firmware upgrade.  I just replaced it.

Just controller if anyone has a offer that is decent feel free to throw it over.  Likely in a few day's I will list it in hardware.
5644  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience BM1384 Project Development Discussion on: October 12, 2015, 03:14:42 AM
One board would provide one pod. Since one board gives chips for about three pods, and chips would be one third the parts cost/value of a pod, one board provides one pod. So if you give one board, you get one free pod. If you want three additional pods you have to pay for three additional pods or send in three additional boards.

The cost of the pod is not just parts, and not all of those parts are free. The cost of the pod also includes the time I took to design it and prototype it and manufacture it and the cost of keeping the lights on in the shop I used for that amount of time. The price will be low, because I don't like marking things up a lot, but let's be honest I have to eat sometime and food costs money.

I actually haven't heard anything from Guy in a bit. He gave me some initial info, nothing technical, and then went on vacation for a week. I know some stuff that I can't talk about neener neener but I don't know enough yet to actually do anything about it. When I do know enough to actually do anything about it I might not tell you anyways because NDA, but right now I'm not really there yet.

Yea the NDA's are not the funnest thing.   Basically make you watch your steps twice not to accidentally say to much.  I think it is a great thing though that SP is talking to us.  I met Guy once at a bitcoin conference but I'm sure he does not remember me lots were there.  He and his team seemed pretty nice.  I also have a sweet SP shirt somewhere from them.

And also ontop of the parts on the pod there is time from both sidehack and novak.   So really need to provide something above parts for them Smiley.  We want out developers to  be able to live.

I really hope the SP thing works out though.  Would be amazing if they picked up supporting hobby miners and supporting your projects.
5645  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Oct 1 to Oct 14 picks are Closed. 2x bonus! + a surprise? on: October 12, 2015, 03:09:04 AM
Bitwisdom is still looking pretty good tonight:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    60,813,224,039
Estimated Next Difficulty:    61,547,034,048 (+1.21%)
Adjust time:    After 497 Blocks, About 3.5 days
Hashrate(?):    434,428,757 GH/s

Price up a tad at 247 pretty nice at the moment.
5646  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Proposal] Mining Co-Op on: October 12, 2015, 12:59:18 AM
Lower rates are possible look over at Mr. Lees thread like one away from this:

we negotiate with a new electricity supplier those day, if we achieve agreement, the host fee will deduce to 0.07$ per kw.h on this new farm.
however, we want to do another host model in this farm, eg cloud mining mode.

we want to sell hash rate directly, the price should be 369$ each Th/s @ 0.3watt/gh/s , so the daily host fee will be 0.3*24*0.07=0.504$ for each Th/s,  we will calculate the mining earning according to 4%pps and pay the earning to customer each  day after deduce daily host fee(we will transfer daily host fee to bitcoin according to exchange ratio from bitfinex at 9:00AM(UMT+8)each day).

that is a similar model like hashnest, the only difference is that our host fee is better, and i also will not charge for expensive off-shelf fee when the project is end. i will try to sell the miner on used miner market and pay the money directly to customer.

He is most likely going to manage .07 well before hashing.  This is greater then any offer I think we have been given.    If we get our ducks in a row I still say electricity price is a huge factor we should focus on.

The big winners will have cheap electricity.
5647  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 12, 2015, 12:56:30 AM
if you don't plug all 3 plugs per board, you void your warranty. I have no idea how they could possibly know that, but better safe than sorry.

Two burnt sockets, one not.  Smiley

Rich

Exactly or the board if they look at traces on it they likely can tell I'm guessing.   Sure some would sneak through.  But I have a feeling that a good amount that try this if they have a disaster within warranty will get caught.

They are very very pushy on it just use 3 per.  Better safe then risk a 1.5k machine over saving a few bucks (or even 50 bucks).
5648  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: B-Eleven sha-256 ASIC miner on: October 12, 2015, 12:51:15 AM
My assumptions are just gleaned from what I have read on the Net & Forum, no first hand information or experience.  Smiley What I do find interesting is the range of lower GH/S specs which are more geared towards Home Mining than Big Customers, so we will have to wait to see?

Rich

They could be just using it to get some press with BW.  If they truly buy that many from LKETC I suspect they could ask for a special data center design.  Or they might do a ton of that design and just have a lot more hours of install's.

And who know's they could do a controller like S5+ where you could link multiple modules together.  So they could do same design but use different controller that hooks up multiple.  That would take little effort.
5649  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience BM1384 Project Development Discussion on: October 12, 2015, 12:47:59 AM
I must ask Side, how's the talks with Guy going/went?

I have a feeling he would love to tell us all a bunch on this subject.  But I suspect there is a big NDA stopping him.

And if you have read any of these NDA's from asic companies it stops A LOT of information from going out.  So I understand if we don't hear about this for a bit.    But I would be pumped if he does say he got a chip source.
5650  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My girlfriend has questions for the forum... on: October 11, 2015, 11:53:18 PM
Is that for real? I would imagine that that would only be applicable to people in NY due to the new laws regarding Bitcoin... Right?

There have been arrests in Florida and Colorado that I know of.

Buying a small amount of bitcoins for personal use, and walking away from any transaction that sounds shady at all shouldn't be a problem, but even outside of New York, there are still federal laws about money laundering and operating as a money service business.

If you are buying and/or selling bitcoins regularly, there is a chance that law enforcement agencies will feel that your actions are "business-like" and therefore they may try to prosecute for operating an unlicensed money service business.

If you are buying from (or selling to) someone that gives an indication that the bitcoins are from (or for) something illegal or suspicious, then there is a requirement to notify law enforcement agencies. Failure to properly notify could result in being charged under various money laundering laws.

Generally, you can avoid these issues by using a U.S. registered exchange business (something like Coinbase).  Of course, if anonymity is important to you, then this becomes problematic.  The exchange is likely to have a lot of identifying information about you as well as information about your bank account.

And one thing I did not mention earlier there are some pretty nice laws for fraud on money (like money laundering) for the agency that goes after sellers on LBC and such.  In many cases they can seize money though these transactions.  So if they know you do a large amount of BTC sales it's a good chance they can take a lot of money and it's now the property of uncle sam.

Also I still think part of it is bad luck on where your coins end up.  If you sell coins and they go to darkweb stuff, that will not make the government to happy. And they do go after the big sites to.

Look at bitinstant - http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoins-first-felon-charlie-shrem-begins-2-year-sentence/   .  Charlie Shrem got 2 years for running a exchange not properly licensed so it was considered money laundering.   So stick with a exchange following rules is best idea.
5651  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Where do exchange sites buy BTC to sell to their users? on: October 11, 2015, 11:34:12 PM
I was thinking about this the other day... Where do bitcoin exchange site like Circle, coinbase, gemini and others get the amount of bitcoins they need to sell to other users at a small fee? How can they get access to the direct market price with no middle man? How could I purchase bitcoins with no other middle man like these exchange sites? I know the only real way to get your own bitcoins would be to mine them, but I don't think these exchange sites could mine all of the bitcoins they steadily sell to people.

They have a big amount of people that use them.  They get coins from people selling for most part I would think.  Also consider like coinbase some levels are not instant so they have a few days to gather the coins.

But these companies are worth a LOT.  There is big money behind them so I suspect they have a certain amount they can judge from currents trades to have stock piled just incase no one is selling.

Only other way might be if they really had bad luck getting BTC going to a company like bitfury, and offer to buy BTC from mining for X amount.  Or even bitmain they could go to them with cash and offer to buy BTC.  So there are some big options I doubt they use but could if were desperate.
5652  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My girlfriend has questions for the forum... on: October 11, 2015, 11:28:34 PM
1) How do people think that bitcoin is actually anonymous? You would have to buy them with your debit card/credit card in which banks have your information... why would you think that this stuff is actually anonymous and could be used in such a way?

There are other fairly anonymous ways to buy bitcoin like from forum members or other face-to-face deals. After you have bought bitcoin, there are also means to loose the trail of your coins, making it harder for people to track your spending and ownership. Some would tell you that bitcoin is pseudo anonymous, I would say you can make bitcoin as anonymous as you need.

Just be careful buying bitcoins face to face in the US using localbitcoins. The newest fashion over there are undercover agents that are meeting people over localbitcoins and then arresting them and charging them. Freaking unbelievable!

Is that for real? I would imagine that that would only be applicable to people in NY due to the new laws regarding Bitcoin... Right?

Just one of the threads that you can find online..

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=543688

Technically if you do it at a certain level you could be considered a money launder.  Think of all the laws exchanges like coinbase have to follow like KYC.  They know who you are and at least where it's sent from site.    They do this to stay legal and not a money launder.

If you met with someone and just did cash for large amount of BTC.  In US you could be considered money launder.  I can't imagine cops coming unless you are known for doing a lot, or you got really unlucky and your coins were used for something really bad to warrant tracing them.   So there is a element of bad luck.

Only way I can think of to get it to more grey area is sell physical coins with BTC on them.  Say to customer they are buying coin which happens to come with X btc on it.  I'm sure that wont hold up great in court but it's better then nothing.
5653  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: good places to hide paper wallet ? on: October 11, 2015, 11:22:32 PM
stick a piece of paper in your wall

This is actually not a horrible idea.   I cannot remember the spy movie but they did this.  What they did was had a vent or something that allowed a straight drop of item and used magnets.

So say you stored your paper storage in the wall with a magnet on it.  You use a string with another magnet on it and you can "fish" it out when needed.  Only problem is fire etc that destroy it.

Safe's do not have the fire issue assuming nice safe.

Isolate it with good metal, then covering that with aluminum that the fire does not destroy etc.
Since you have access to the wall that would not be problem even if someone will start destroying your house.
Another place to hide the paper wallet i would consider blank pipes(10cm extension) in your water installation huh?

Covering it with aluminium would not change anything, the heat will still be transferred to the paper and thus all that will be left is dust. You could print the key with metal or some such, but the best thing to do is definitively have several backups.

I don't know how is it called in english but firefighters use them.
It is against fire and it can protect the paper too from the fire.
Having several backups is the best idea for everything not just for the paper wallet but also for sensitive files/data, another idea?

There's flame retardant and you can stack them together in a hard enclosure, common in flame retardants safe. But they only give you time, meaning if you do not extinguish the fire quick enough, the content will still burn.

Instead imagine a steel QR cube. It could be grabbed easily with magnets too!

That is not a bad idea if it could be done safely.  I really do like the idea of a steel QR code, if it could be read by a reader.

Only problem I see is going to be hard to get safely.  Most wont have the technology to do this in steel.  So you would have to rely on a 3rd party to cut it so that brings it to not so good on security.  I don't know of easy way but if there was a at home kit or something of a steel qr code that would be great.  And likely sell as a lot love coins with crypto.

I was playing around on Amazon it appears there are fire resistant pouches to store items in.   Example http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S946C3S?keywords=fireproof%20pouch&qid=1444605675&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1 .  You could put that down a wall and have magnets on it.   Only problem is if big fire and passes the rating in heat.... then poof.
5654  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many bitcoins do you have to sell to make a living? on: October 11, 2015, 11:15:11 PM

What is the estimated earning of a antminer s7?
More than 1BTC a month i think is good enough, since it cost more than 8BTC including the PSU.
But in less than 10 months there will be a halving does it affect directly the mining earnings?

Yup you get half the coins.

You can check a miner's potential profit here - http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/bitcoin-mining-calculator

I thought we were long past the phase it was considered viable for the little guy.

I calculated that if at the moment you can earn around 1.2BTC monthly -0.2BTC i speculate the electricity so 1BTC monthly.
In 8 months you can reach the ROI if you mine 24/7, so until the next halving you can earn 2BTC + selling the antminer s7 as a bonus if you want to leave at that moment, so i can think that you can make a living if you own many of these miners and have a stable electricity.
And what if a new miner comes out before then that completely crushes the s7 in efficiency?  What if your miners break?  These are all possibilities you'll have to consider.  A huge risr in difficulty making the mining calculations incorrect would not be unheard of.

The best case is that the ROI is within 8 months.
But the worst case can be that the mining rig can be burned by the first day.
Anyway I don't think that any amount of btc selling now will guarantee a good life in future.

For ROI use a calculator closer to bitwisdom - https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator.  Coinwars is great for getting what it will do today.  But in future there will be difficulty changes.   So coinwars is only good in near future.

When trying to do months down the road you need to include difficulty.   Try it out I think you will like it.
5655  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Need S5 and S4 and S3 Hashboards Schematics on: October 11, 2015, 11:12:12 PM
I am preparing a antminer repair service in my country, but need the hash-board schematics
if some has it let me know or how to find, also I can pay for it and professional assistance .

Thanks

Bitmain is not going to make it easy for you to become a "antminer repair service".   They will want everyone to use them.    So them giving awaaay schematics or any help don't count on it.

Only way it might work is if you are in country vat/import tax is VERY high.  Then you might have good customer base.  Most at least newer ones will stick with official  bitmain I think.
5656  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it worth mining? on: October 11, 2015, 11:08:04 PM
I have free electricity and have been thru this debate many many times,

If you buy expensive newer miners then it will take longer to reach ROI but you can host more of them since the available power is capped. The ROI on the S7 is like 8 months or so.

If you buy older and cheaper miners you have a shorter time of getting ROI but you won't make alot of money. The ROI on the S3 is like 2-3 months or so.

The more into the future you go, the higher the uncertainly. Price of BTC and Difficulty is easier to predict in 3 months then in 8 months.

So you need to find a balance in between.

Personally I wouldn't buy the S5 or SP20, they are overpriced at the moment. Get the S2, S3, Dragon Miners, KNC Jupiters, etc.

You will make the same amount of money in 6 months with an S3 as you will with an S5 but the S3 is 1/4 cheaper.

I only made money with my miners because I profited off somebody else's loss. I only bought miners which were no longer profittable due to electricity cost or I bought them because the price of BTC was crashing and Difficulty was skyrocketing and the sellers panicked and sold to me.

Only way to make money in this business. Its a zero sum game pretty much. You're gains will be somebody else's loss.

That's why I wouldn't buy an S7, because our loss will be their gain.

I don't know on dragon miner's.  They are getting close to end of life.   They run hot and are not efficient.  Going with S3 would be much better idea with free electricity.  Also I think S3 will have more value if you ever to to sale it say 6 months from now and upgrade.

S5, SP20, Avalon 4.1 all have held value pretty well with new miners slowing down.  So if free electricity it will be harder to justify but they really are great machines.
5657  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud Mining - Please help a newbie on: October 11, 2015, 09:39:43 PM
So, please stop promoting this Bit-X scam for a few Satoshi in sig campaign, while you are calling other services like www.CloudMining.website, which are paying longer than Bit-X, as scam. This is sheer hypocrisy.

Here is a link for bitfury showing they allocated 1 PH to Bit-x https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=896350.0 .  Remember I am not tied with company so that is what I have. I ask you to show what hardware you are using.   You never have said anything or a company vouch that you have hardware.  Their main business is being a exchange United Kingdom as far as Bit-X.

As far as me pushing.  I am only pushing research.  EVERYONE should do their own research before investing anything specifically cloud mining, as sadly a lot of sites are scams.  If you buy bit-x hash I personally make ZERO off of it.   I am paid as a signature campaign person who a specialty in hardware mining.  Do not invest in anything because of me pushing researching before buying.

If you have a question for Bit-X - https://bit-x.com/customer/support .  I believe you can even call if you are able to call UK numbers.    That is where to ask questions to them.  Not through me as in no way am I an official proxy of support.

I am not perfect I lost some during the gawminer day's.   This is why I know everyone should do their own research.    And I have made it clear I mostly do hardware mining as I like playing with hardware.

Again be careful with any investment espically cloud investing.  Always do you research and never put more then you can lose.  As true cloud mining does not guarantee ROI just like hardware mining.  Hopefully this message is a little clear that I am in no way pushing for investments.
I think, English is not your first language ...right ? Either you have not understood what I said in the previous post, or you are pretending on purpose that you did not.

I honestly don't understand I don't insult you, or your cloud company no matter my thoughts.  English is my first language if that matters.  I thought I responded well you just don't like it.

But if you need a condensed version i push everyone going into cloud mining to do research.  You were bashing Bit-X, I was just putting out there Bit-X has bitfury vouching 1PH is dedicated to them.   I was showing this as your company does not seem to have any manufacture vouch for it having machines.  And also that Bit-X is a big bitcoin exchange in UK. The exchange is their biggest product I feel pretty safe saying.  But they have multiple items.  Feel free to research it.

But again everyone before investing in anything specifically cloud mining, do some research.  And feel free to question before investing.  And don't let me or anyone else push you to  invest.

The heat is actually entering the ducts and thats how it's heating up the house. However, I connected an exhaust port in my basement to a flexible duct and hanged it above my Antminer S5s for now. I'm going to see how that will work. Posted a video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfKJ2kOlZko

I ran both S4's and S5's.   The S4's do seem to tend to do better with heat.  I think it partially has to do with it's design and full case.  It gets hot air out decently.  Also I had a fan pushing it to so it really worked good.

Those S5's though are pretty warm when you run them.   The 1 fan with open design just allows heat to go everywhere.  The did improve it on S5+ but does not give S5 users any hope.

But I would focus on the S5's like you are doing.  Also depending on your location winter is coming so you will be able to get free cold air in certain areas which is pretty great.

Why don't you simply ask for a new IP address from your VPS provider and/or create a new VPS that is on a new IP address?

I think that would be more of a band-aid.   It might allow it to work for hours or weeks.  The problem is not that simple as it bans the IP for something.

So not having a way to know what caused it, it would happen over and over most likely.  If this IP can be unbanned and whitelisted or something were forum does not future ban.  It works out better long term.
Yes, that would be ban evasion thing, this will work better than ignoring the rules.
Goodluck marco on getting the bot back! The bot seems to get errors very often and the people's post don't get counted, but we always get paid!

Regards,
FruitsBasket

There should not be any problem really on bot with number of posts. If you are getting this PM macro or bitcoin boy.   The blockchain.info caused some payments to be delayed, and of course Malleability attacks.  But they are always fixed and paid.  It really is a good campaign.

This I think is just a issue is just with the bot that sent PM's.  It would send a PM each time you get a payment, and that is what hes trying to get IP unbanned so it works again.
