5661  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best Gambling Site? on: January 11, 2015, 07:42:48 PM
No one said nothing about win88 or coinichiwa?

They have the biggest faucet for beginners

Not everyone sees faucets as desirable feature. It attracts faucet abusers and beggars and often spam and slowing the game down for others. From investors/operator point of view, it discourage small stake players from depositing.

How do Win88 finance their faucet anyway, is it from investors' funds?

My personal favourite sites:

PocketRocketsCasino.eu - dice
SafeDice.com - dice
FortuneJack.com - casino
SealsWithClubs.eu - bitcoin poker
PokerShibes.com - dogecoin poker

Is the site down?

I don't get any error message but it just won't load. Tried few times, my network is fine.

With hardware you can sell it when you're done. Amazingly a used S3 still sells for 0.5BTC, while it cost IIRC 0.58-0.68 new back in July/August.

Not that pretty in USD terms, remember that BTC price was much higher.
5664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin should modify to POW + POS ? █████ Poll █████ on: January 10, 2015, 10:35:20 PM

If the votes are high enough, then people can launch a twitter public campaign to present it to the devs.
After all, what support Bitcoin is the community, not the devs.

? So why do you want to submit anything to the devs?

Just gather enough people, prepare a fork (CLAM style) and you got yourself a PoS BTC. It's that simple.

5665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitstamp hack bitcoins are now moving! on: January 10, 2015, 10:27:09 PM
I posted on here almost a year ago that bitstamp was just a government honeypot and that it was only a matter a time before they ran off with people's coins.

Like 99% of the time - I was right.

 Grin

How did they ran off? They've reopened and will have to pay that back one way or another. As far as we know there are no limits on withdrawal, so users are not directly affected.

Your right-rate just dropped to 98%  Wink
5666  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: My Method To Earn Money With Bitcoin (Multiple Revenue Streams) on: January 10, 2015, 06:30:45 PM
Faucets are a waste of time, not really a point.

And yet it's still the best way for the newbies to get familiar with bitcoin, that's where most people get their first satoshis from.
5667  Economy / Gambling / Re: PocketRocketsCasino.eu - 90BTC max payout! New updated website + promos on: January 10, 2015, 05:51:57 PM

Max profit just crossed 100 BTC, sweet.

Dean, is there any way to send a tip to a player who is not online?

Seems the only way to tip is to click on a name in chat, or in 'players online' tab. When I click player on my affs list all I get is his stats. Would be great to have tip option there, it could be very useful for referral promos etc.
5668  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp back up and all has returned to normal. Will the media cover this too? on: January 10, 2015, 12:23:26 PM

Do you think the mainstream media will be as eager to cover this recovery too, or just the crashes?

Unlikely. It's not really a worthy news to report on for them.
Or maybe they'll cover it if there's absolutely nothing else going on in 'technology' or 'finance' categories.

Did a quick news search and only found 1 non-bitcoin media covering the story, but nothing from the main-stream.

5669  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITSTAMPS BACK! on: January 09, 2015, 10:36:49 PM
The next question is whether Bitstamp is now insolvent.  They lost $5 million.  Did they get new funding to replace that, did they have enough capital of their own, or are they dipping into customer funds?  Their statements have carefully avoided mentioning this issue.

If a real stockbroker lost funds like that, and became insolvent (debts > assets), they would have to stop operations immediately.  In some jurisdictions it is a felony for a broker to continue to accept funds once insolvent.  They don't get to "fix it later". That's because, historically, the temptation to fix it by speculating with customer funds has been a big problem.

With withdrawals working again, it's probably a good idea to get your assets out of Bitstamp. Don't use them as a wallet. Trade there if you like, but empty out your account when not actively trading.

Bitstamp now needs a full audit by an outside auditing firm.

Agree, that's the missing part of the statement - how are they going to cover the lost funds? After all the shit from Mt Gox it would be nice if bitstamp were more transparent on this.

Although, if Pantera bailed them out, both sides may not be very keen on disclosing the details. And this part slightly suggest that this could be the case:

Quote
On a personal note, I’d like to thank the incredible teams at Bitstamp and at our lead investor Pantera Capital who have worked around-the-clock from multiple time zones in the last few days. I’m incredibly proud of the herculean work of this extended team, and grateful to the phenomenal show of support from customers, friends, and partners in the bitcoin community.

Hopefully they won't qualify for audit exemption in their 2nd year of trading.

5672  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitstamp issues statement and temporarily suspends service on: January 09, 2015, 05:29:19 PM
A lot of talk about previous profits: If the owners cashed it out in their own pocket (absolute legit), then they would think twice to throw their own money back into the exchange. If they reopen, I expect a cashout run. This will last till their reserves are empty and thats it, bankruptcy.

Might have happened, but in their first period of trading (up to 31 Oct 2013) they left some $0.8m P&L reserve, they could've paid it out to themselves straight away.

It proves nothing, but may indicate that they've seen importance of holding a reserve.

and after it has failed we will enter a stage where you can make money all year long - not only in 2 weeks every 4 years.

I for one welcome the fail with open arms.

And a lot of good memes will come from it too.

Yeah, let's make it happen. We'll all be making money on mining alts! No one will have to work ever no more! Just fun and games all year-round.

Sounds entirely feasible

OK. I looked it up:

The combined effect of Sections 197 to 206 of the Criminal Code of Canada bans for-profit gaming or betting, with exceptions made for provincial lotteries, licensed casinos, and charity events. Many stores, radio stations, and other groups still wish to hold contests to encourage more purchases or increase consumer interest. These organizations take advantage of the fact that the law does allow prizes to be given for games of skill, or mixed games of skill and chance. In order to make the chance-based contests legal, such games generally consist of a mathematical STQ.

...
For contests held in other countries but open to Canadians, a STQ must be asked of any potential Canadian winner.

Not to mention that Limit Hold Em traffic is dead since years, almost no one play this variant...so not a very relevant news for a serious poker player.
Can the bot currently only beat players in this game ?
I thought it was developed for all kinds of games.

Yup, it only works for 2 players Limit Hold'em. Don't think it's possible to do the same for no limit games with more players. The luck factor would be too high to guarantee profit (or no loss).

Analysis: Bitstamp Hacker Almost Stole Additional $1.75 Million

Bitstamp narrowly avoided losing an additional $1.75m in bitcoin during its recent hack, according to a blockchain analysis by an independent researcher.

In the final hours of a $5.1m heist that took place at the exchange five days ago, the $1.75m in bitcoin was quickly moved to an address thought to be used for cold storage by Bitstamp, analyst Danno Ferrin has found.

5677  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Amagi Metals Now Pays All Staff in Bitcoin on: January 09, 2015, 10:17:17 AM

I wasn't aware that Amagi Metals are so bullish on bitcoin:

http://www.coindesk.com/gold-dealer-amagi-metals-now-pays-staff-bitcoin/

Quote
Precious metals dealer Amagi Metals announced it is now paying its entire staff in bitcoin via payroll service provider Bitwage.

They don't pay 100% of wages in BTC though:

Quote
Every employee at Amagi Metals has set a percentage of their paycheck, both big and small, that they wish to be paid in bitcoin. To demonstrate his support, Macaskill will personally be paid roughly $40,000 of his salary in bitcoin this year.

Good to hear they didn't enforce it on everyone and it was completely voluntary.

Quote
The move forms part of the company's plan to 'divorce' the US dollar by 2017, where it will stop accepting the fiat currency as payment method.

That's a bold statement. Hope it works fine for them.

Thoughts?

Thanks for sharing. But it works only for HU limit hold'em. Impressive, but still a very long way to go before any bot is able to win any major tournament.

Maybe you should research a bit more.

Quote
Litecoin, Dogecoin, Blackcoin and Neoscoin requested to be delisted from Coin-Swap. The move follows the recent announcement of Josh Garza's Paybase’s acquisition of the cryptocurrency exchange.

Also XPY was removed from ShapeShift.

How often do you see altcoin devs boycotting exchange or alt exchange boycotting coin? Wondered why?
