I think that I figured it out. Chrome was creating so many connections that the server was temporarily thinking of you as an attacker and dropping your packets. Other browsers also do this sometimes, though not as much. I increased the limits for this. But really, browsers should not be creating 30+ connections to the same server...

Thanks for the fix...

Seems a discussion with devs was here:

And for what it's worth look at what I am currently typing into:

Hopefully you can see it.  It's a broken jpeg for me. Wink  I am getting a 502 for the image links.  Perhaps you are doing something now Theymos.

I have a feeling there are more PhDs around here than are letting on…

I'd say there are a few around.  Some of them prefer to be counted among the chattel though. Wink

Bitcoin is quite clearly going 2 da moon long term. The question is when. When will we hit the 10k mark and finally be catapulted into bitcoin mainstream usage and big company acceptance like amazon? It will happen eventually, the signs are all there. The question is when. This year or next year or 5 years from now?

Depends on when the seller at 563 on bfx runs out of coins.  As far as I can tell his initials are S.N.  He has controlled the global price of bitcoin for about 36 hours so far.

Probably a mountain-goat building up a cash position to go along with the needed bitcoin position to (re)open gox.com
5666  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: March 23, 2014, 02:22:44 PM
Then it conflicts with the fundamentals. Bitcoin usage is growing exponentially and the new users/investors need bitcoins. When they buy them, the price rises. Any TA that does not take this into account is harmful for the financial well-being of its user Smiley

This is so super important.  Bitcoin's fundamentals are very compelling.  Until something comes along that solves nearly ALL of bitcoin's problems and overtakes it's growing network effect bitcoin continues to have a lot of built in fundamental propulsive power.  Considering that many solutions to bicoin's shortcomings will be layers on top of bitcoin, there is also a possibility, in my opinion, that within bitcoin itself and its community is the solution to it's own problems.
5667  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Can you force the US government to accept a private key? on: March 23, 2014, 06:42:34 AM
I assume OP wants to make the USGvmt complicit in a bitcoin transaction in some sort of preemptive strategy.

I can't think of any other reason to think up this scheme.
5668  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: March 22, 2014, 10:41:57 PM

tl;dr: You are technically correct that opening up more avenues to potentially cheat is bad HOWEVER anyone would would be able to properly exploit something like a late reg to cheat is already cheating you in way worse ways.  So it's kind of a moot point.

You summed your argument up well.  So.  Why don't we just allow multiple connections from the same player?  It's the wild wild west.  Prevention is moot.

One last try...

When we enable dishonest players to have a different set of rules than honest players dishonest players can find an edge.

This is not a moot point.

I personally don't like late reg.  I also don't really care if seals implements it.  I don't play many big buyin tourneys.  I am only arguing if we are going to allow late reg we go in eyes open.  I see a hole there.  Others don't.

I am good disagreeing, I feel I have made my point as clearly as I can.
5669  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: March 22, 2014, 09:33:15 PM
Unless they are only 1-tabling, people couldn't just bust a tourney and re-enter on another screenname unless they had an extra computer available.  In which case they could just sign up anyways.  ASll of you complaining about late registration should use your brain, it adds to prizepools and does zero to reduce your (perceived) edge.

First of all I can multitable and sign in as more than one user at SWC on the same computer.  I could even multitable as multiple players.  I didn't say I DO this.  I say I could.  Easily.

Secondly.  If people can buy back into a non rebuy tournament then you are right it increases the prizepool, but it also increases the field.  This may or may not be desirable.

Say I wanted to play low buyin PLO tournaments.  Also say I am an above average player.. ie winning.  And say I have no ethical qualms with using any multi login tactic possible to increase my shot at the money.  Then, i would look for <20 player tournaments with a buyin of 50 chips and under.  I would log in as 3 or 4 players, and if I busted out I would reload another until the pseudo-rebuy to prizepool math was bad.

I could go to the trouble to do a little math to prove this tactic would give me an unfair edge, but I don't really feel like it.  Plus I know intuitively it would work.  Help yourself though.

There are lots of other ways cheaters could use this method.

Another...   Say you have 5 players with a MSN or Skype connection...  well... do I really have to spell this out?  In the end for a little bit more buyin (and a bigger prizepool to match) our colluders will dominate the bubble all the time.

I have never said seals would face complex cheating rings like this...  I am sating the more opportunity seals gives for cheaters the more chance they will take it.

Dude why don't you keep your religious moralism to yourself.

I usually just lurk as not to muck up rptilas thread, but this is too low hanging not to pick on.

1.  Anonymint took no religious position when he made his argument.  He was using religion to appeal to his audience.  You missed this completely.

2.  The answer to your above question is because he has as much right to express himself the way he wishes as you do.

In other words:

Why don't you keep your a-religious moralism (sic) to yourself?
5671  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Do you think blockchain.info can face the same situation as mtgox? on: March 21, 2014, 09:36:11 PM
There is a lot wrong with this OP.

1.  blockchain.info is not the blockchain.
2.  blockchain.info is not an exchange.
3.  blockchain.info does not take deposits.
4.  blockchain.info does not have access to your private keys much less your coins.
5.  blockchain.info can go away completely and you can import your keys into multibit.

5672  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: March 21, 2014, 09:33:05 PM
Mt.Gox just found 200,000 BTC in "old" wallets. Roll Eyes

None of the logical paths leading from this news end in a happy place.  Lol.
5673  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin or bitcoin - which one is correct? on: March 20, 2014, 01:49:00 PM
It's "bitcom" I am fairly sure.

Let's do lunch!  On YOU!!!

Are you people seriously concerned about "multi accounters" who only play on one name at a time?  You are afraid to play against people who are too stupid to cheat correctly?

Haha.  This is a good/funny point.  I don't really have any fear per se.  I just like to have all information available to me for all the decisions I make.  Including what games I play, and how I treat the players at the table.

IF the site adds things like late reg I am for talking about what that means.
5676  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 20, 2014, 12:34:11 AM
It's just a matter of time for Ripple to take over bitcoin.

haha...is this a level?

Poker players in the house...
5677  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: March 19, 2014, 10:22:45 PM
Then why not make the start time 15 minutes later?

5678  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: March 19, 2014, 05:42:21 PM

Enough with the fucking castle
It is the crowning achievement for someone who wants to dance like he means it.  It's a place where he can keep away from all the riffraff that has invades this forum, as well as the burdensome bureaucratics, politics or shady conflicts of interest – just cool people, who genuinely care for what they’re into.  It's simple really.  A wise man once said: You can’t worship two gods at once. Loving one god, you’ll end up hating the other. Adoration of one feeds contempt for the other.

That's the real unseen point here...  but someday it will be seen.
5679  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Taint will ruin the fungibility of gold coins on: March 19, 2014, 06:16:24 AM
Is freshly-mined 'gold' more valuable then, than stuff that's passed through scammy hands?

You must be careful when mining!  If there's any fees in your freshly-mined reward, then the gold in the fee could have been from a scammer and your newly mined gold may still get confiscated.

That's why I've been working so hard on anonyatom--it's a truly anonymous atom.

You are truly a high IQ alpha male.

When will you release your new coin?
5680  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: March 19, 2014, 04:35:15 AM
late reg will just make tourneys re-entries for the multi accounters

so this is a legitimate concern.

As a frequent MTT player, I'd like to see the biggest prizepools possible.

As a site pro, I don't want to see anyone just miss the start of the BIG BTC.

I think the sweetspot for late reg is ~5-15 minutes.  I want to catch the guy that just missed it, but I don't want the guy that just busted re-registering.  Very few players will bust in the first 15 minutes, and those that do should be easy to catch a re-entry under a little-used account.

Certainly things to think about, but IMO late registration will be +EV for the players, as it encourages action.

Late entry for rebuys is a no brainer.  That will work.  For what that's worth.

Without blocking IPs and disallowing tor (not even possible?) I don't see a solution for regular tourneys.  In that case if you want late entry you just have to deal with the reality it's a rebuy for shadow accounts.
