Big reason I like playing on seals was that didn't have late registration. Late registration benefits no one except a site meeting guarantees .  I can see maybe a 30 minute late reg for specific tourneys like bigbtc and Saturday 4.2 guarantee,  but sites that have 1 and 2 hour late reg  for every guarantee doesn't do anything from the players perspective except ruin the tourneys.

I can understand what you're saying when it applies to big sites that have hours of late registration on tournaments with 100's of players.

But that wouldn't be a problem here.  Even if they wanted to Seals couldn't do 2 hour late registration.  Most tournaments are finished in 2 hours, and if they weren't you'd be buying in for a stack of one big blind.

The benefit that late registration will have for players is that it will make the tournaments bigger.  Most only get between 10-25 players right now.

Eventually I hope that more of the regular daily games can grow to the size of the Saturday and Sunday guarantees - somewhere in the 50-100 player range.  And I think late registration will help make that happen.

I brought this up a while back.  There cant be both late entry and anonymous multi accounts allowed.  It's impossible to have late entry not be virtual rebuys for multiple accounts.

late reg will just make tourneys re-entries for the multi accounters

so this is a legitimate concern.

As a frequent MTT player, I'd like to see the biggest prizepools possible.

As a site pro, I don't want to see anyone just miss the start of the BIG BTC.

I think the sweetspot for late reg is ~5-15 minutes.  I want to catch the guy that just missed it, but I don't want the guy that just busted re-registering.  Very few players will bust in the first 15 minutes, and those that do should be easy to catch a re-entry under a little-used account.

Certainly things to think about, but IMO late registration will be +EV for the players, as it encourages action.

you do keep that .0009, and the next time you deposit add an extra .0001 and that .0009 will become 1 chip.

Late entry for rebuys is a no brainer.  That will work.  For what that's worth.

Without blocking IPs and disallowing tor (not even possible?) I don't see a solution for regular tourneys.  In that case if you want late entry you just have to deal with the reality it's a rebuy for shadow accounts.

1)  bust-out IP block is a easy way to cut down.  Many players use VPN though.

2)  I would imagine a savvy degenerate (that busts in the first 1 or 2 levels) may find their way back in.  This may be something we must accept (from a player perspective I think its a great thing if a guy that just fired off the stack in level 1 re-enters) if we want to provide the utility to players that just missed the starting time and want action.  I think that utility far outweighs the unfairness of someone possibly re-entering.

Late registration will make possible for Seals offer higher gtd., that's a good thing. It is very difficult to create larger MTT with 5% rake.
Mistakes are costly (Saturday 4.2K gtd had more than 1 K overlay last week) and take long time to recover. Smiley

I don't known that having some fish, who busts in the first or second level, relog, rebuy and add to the prizepool is necessarily a bad thing. Just don't make the late reg retarded long.

like pokerstars in majors with 180-min latereg  Roll Eyes

I think ~15 minutes would be optimal (and I think micon had similar intentions because this allows the people who turn on their computer a few minutes
too late for a tourney still to enter).
And the percentage of people who bust in the first blind level (or maybe the second) should be really negliglibe.

Why not add re-entry for 15 minutes as well?

Are you people seriously concerned about "multi accounters" who only play on one name at a time?  You are afraid to play against people who are too stupid to cheat correctly?
