5661  Economy / Gambling discussion / [Boxing]: Terence Crawford vs Shawn Porter - Nov. 20 on: September 14, 2021, 09:13:29 PM

Quote
Three-division and reigning WBO welterweight champ Terence Crawford (37-0, 28KOs) and former two-division titlist Shawn Porter (31-3-1, 17KOs) have agreed to terms for their highly anticipated title fight, which will take place November 20 atop an ESPN+ Pay-Per-View from Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas.

https://www.boxingscene.com/crawford-porter-title-fight-set-november-20-michelob-ultra-arena-las-vegas--160563

So we have another exciting fight in the welterweight division. Crawford will defend his belt against former champion Shawn Porter on November 20. This will be explosive as we all know how these two fighters, Porter gave Spence Jr a good fight when they clash two years ago and lost via split decision. He won against Ugas (who beat Manny Pacquiao recently), and also a W against Danny Garcia. His losses are against Keith Thurman and Kell Brook.

On the other hand, one of the best pound for pound, Terence Crawford, hasn't lost, beat Jeff Horn, (who beat Manny Pacquiao, but majority thinks it's a robbery), and won against Kell Brook.

So this is going to be a good fight in my opinion. I would say that Crawford has step up the plate here in fighting a hard nose fighter in Shawn Porter. I'm expecting a 12 full rounds of action packed boxing.

No odds yet.
5662  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Jonas Sultan vs Carlos Caraballo - October 30, 2021 on: September 14, 2021, 03:22:38 PM
Sultan is under the MP promotion now and he will fight an undefeated fighter who has a 100% KO rate.
What do you think his chances against the Puerto Rican in this fight?

Looks like Sultan is being used as a stepping stone for some upcoming boxing sensation. I'm inclined that Sultan will lose this one but it would not be a knockout win for Caraballo because the latter will is a tough nut to crack and he got the advantage on fighting some current champions like Jerwin Ancajas and Casimero, in fact, he won against Johnriel Casimero almost four years ago.

Yeah, let's see if Caraballo's power can crack Sultan's chin, otherwise this will be a tough battle for him as Sultan is very rugged and tough so he might test Caraballo here. I can't call Sultan a journeyman because he has faced a lot of Filipino champions in the past and even bet Casimero. So this is going to a 60/40 fight for Caraballo. Sultan could be motivated to show his skills under the banner of MP promotions.

I wouldn't doubt about Caraballo's power, Sultan has to be careful as he is facing a very dangerous fighter, winning all his fights via KO, that's something special, he is like a Wilder in the bantamweight division, and for Sultan to be able to win, he needs to be the Fury.

I will say that Caraballo's power is over rated and can't be compare to Wilder. if you look at his record and the class of the opposition he face:

https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/773544

All of his opponents who he knock out, all has losing records.

But if you look at Sultan's record here: https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/648292, the level of opposition he has fought, and he hasn't been knock out before. All of his losses are UD/SD. Even Casimero wasn't able to put a dent on his chin and even win by UD.
5663  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Michael Saylor buy the bitcoin.Bitcoin prices are likely to rise. on: September 14, 2021, 12:56:13 PM
This is good news, but as we have seen, it didn't have any positive effect on the market. Which means the driving force is still retail and not this big institutional company. And the one that will benefit from it is really MicroStrategy and not the average joe like us. We are still in the bull run though, no doubt about it, we just have to wait for the perfect timing again to see another good run before the end of the year with or without Michael Saylor's influence on the market.
5664  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anderson Silva vs Tito Ortiz on September 11 on: September 14, 2021, 10:36:13 AM
Yes, obviously, Silva is no longer in his prime, but he is a cerebral martial artist, he still maintain his body and still practices it even in boxing, so you could see the discipline, that's why he was able to win against Tito who seems to be out of shape to me.

Agree. He didn't stopped training and has a regular activity of it. Not just to prepare for a fight but part of his maintaining his physical activity.

And the advantage of it was, he is always well-prepared now that he is consider to participate in an exhibition match to make money out of retirement. Smiley

Yeah, and that's what separates elite athletes is that after they retire, they were able to maintain their body and overall health, unlike others who gain so much weight (although it comes with age).

@bbc.reporter - "just the follow the money", so right now the cash cow in exhibitions matches are Floyd and the Paul brothers, so maybe we can see Silva fighting either of the two for bigger pay check.
5665  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jamel Herring vs Shakur Stevenson on: September 14, 2021, 09:20:41 AM
^^ I wonder though, who Oscar Valdez prefers to fight, Herring is tall and lengthy, while Stevenson is almost of his built.

Definitely a Valdez vs Herring/Stevenson is good for the fans and for this weight class as well. It's getting the attention is needed (although in a bad way as Valdez is testing positive), so let's wait for the winner, I might go with Stevenson, as I want him to have a fight with Valdez.

Either of the fighter though, I think Valdez will have an advantage. And maybe this is the reason why he called them after winning a come from behind against Robson.

Both doesn't have the knock out power, they might be technical, but Valdez can adjust, just like in his last fight, wherein he was behind the scorecard by become the aggressor in the middle of the rounds. So for me, there is no preference because it's winnable for him.
5666  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb Plant on: September 14, 2021, 08:31:40 AM
For me the biggest test is GGG, it might be controversial on how both fight ends, but Canelo taking GGG's best shot and didn't even flitch, it's a sign that Canelo could destroy anyone in the 160-168 lbs. And he did, BJS is another classic example. The Brit is a natural super MW but Canelo beat him badly. So it's hard to think that Caleb Plant has a chance, highly unlikely that he can beat Canelo at his best weight class and this record of form and style of Alvarez.

I have posted manytimes before. The Canelo vs GGG and Canelo vs GGG2 fights were very controversial. On both the occasions, GGG was ahead on the scorecards of independent observers like CBS Sports and BBC Sports.

Yeah, but the judges are the one that makes it's official, so we as boxing fans are shocked to see how the first fight ends.

But the judges thought otherwise. At the most, I would admit that both the fights ended in a draw.

First fight for me, was Canelo, the second one, it could go either way, unfortunately, judges have it for Canelo.

And Canelo refused the trilogy fight against GGG. But I agree with you on Billy Joe Saunders. Canelo's win against him was clean and all the thrash talk couldn't prevent Saunders from getting knocked out (technically retired from the fight).

And that's what the fight with GGG more controversial, Canelo refuses to gave him a trilogy. GGG chases him in DAZN. Canelo break ups with Golden Boy and DAZN and the move to 168 lbs.
5667  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling awareness for adolescents on: September 14, 2021, 07:14:07 AM
I hope other countries will follow this.
Always remember that "Prevention is always better than cure". Especially in gambling, we all know how risky it is and what is the effect of it for those people who don't have control, it will rekt your life.
With discouraging gambling to people, it will help them to avoid and not try gambling for sure, good move.

Yeah, I think even in our country we have this kind of program, but not sure how effective it is though. The pandemic has somewhat increase in record numbers the gamblers around the world. For example, we have this "online sabong", that is making a lot of young people getting into gambling. And it's a dilemma for our government, because according to the President, he allow it because they needed money to sustain them in this pandemic. Anyway, wish that this initiative could really be emulate by other nations.
5668  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: September 13, 2021, 11:11:00 PM
That's always the case for every team that if they fall short on this current season, they always have the next season. But it is likely that there will be another batch of those players that are about to receive offers from the B League just as the others have already taken the offers. Well in this case, that's just my anticipation since a lot of news did came with that.
The season is long, they'll have a conference and it's easier for them to bounce back as every conference means another opportunity to be in the PBA finals. This conference is probably an ALL FILIPINO CUP because there's no import, so maybe after this, it will still be the same set up as we are still in the pandemic and most likely new conference is still in a bubble format.
Yes, it might still be the same setup but I think as the league struggles with a bubble setup, when the government starts to lift this quarantine setup, the PBA is likely to be in the good setup again. I think they'll now allow fans to go to Araneta or any stadium that they prefer but as always with protocols being followed.

I'm not sure about that, the government has no effective measures on reducing the number of people infected aside from lockdown, and when we say lock down, that would result in no games for PBA or if the IATF will allow, it will be again in bubble set up, the question is, can the PBA continue to run the business when they are losing money?

Really hard to make that decision, I mean not just the PBA but all other businesses in the Philippines are losing money if there will be a total lock down again.

And as the our cases continue to skyrocket every day, most likely PBA are in the dilemma again, hopefully safety protocols are going to be implemented, but the number of being infected are rising.
5669  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anderson Silva vs Tito Ortiz on September 11 on: September 13, 2021, 10:44:41 PM
Anderson Silva ended the fight in round 1, he was focus with his game plan while Tito Ortiz tries a bully way to beat the favorite to win in this fight. I also was not able to watch the game live as there's no PPV in our country, but I'm already contented with the highlight as the actual fight is short.
Hmm, thanks for that info @Maslate

I just saw some highlights of the fight and it was pretty quick (in my point of view)

Although, Anderson Silva is 46 years old, I believe he is in good shape, not in his prime!!

Yes, obviously, Silva is no longer in his prime, but he is a cerebral martial artist, he still maintain his body and still practices it even in boxing, so you could see the discipline, that's why he was able to win against Tito who seems to be out of shape to me.

Although post fight interview says he is unsure of his future, but definitely I'm speculating that he will have another boxing fight. Names like Jake Paul or even Roy Jones Jr.
5670  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jamel Herring vs Shakur Stevenson on: September 13, 2021, 10:13:29 PM
In other news: Oscar Valdez Calls Out Winner Of Shakur Stevenson Vs. Jamel Herring For Next Fight.

Quote
“Hopefully we can come back again [to Tucson, Arizona] with another great fighter. Hopefully it's the one we all want. You guys know who he is,” said Valdez. “We all want the winner of Shakur Stevenson and Jamel Herring. Let’s do it. They are great fighters. They are great champions. The best have to fight the best. Let the best man win that night.”

So this could be an added motivation for either fighter, because another champion are going to wait for the winner of their fight. Either one of them could be a good match for Oscar Valdez. And the good thing is that the future reunification is easy to make because all of them are under the same banner of Top Rank.
5671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: September 13, 2021, 09:42:38 PM
Quite an uneventful event the last few days for NBA transfers don't you agree? I'm tired of Ben Simmons saga so who else are you expecting to be traded or waived other than Marc Gasol? Anything on the free agents or returning former NBA players? I checked on at least three sites but nothing new came up.

It normally quiets down around now.  Teams have been solidified for the next year.  Camp starts up soon.  You won't see much trades until mid season before the trade deadline.  A couple moves here and there but nothing big.  Ben Simmons is going to be playing game 1 with the sixers book it.

Yes, teams have settled down and be ready for the upcoming season. And Ben trade rumour could still be just heating up. I'm still speculating that Ben will be traded though before the start of full season.

In any case, if someone is interested on the outright NBA champions here are the odds from sportsbet:

Thanks for this thread, I already saw this one few days ago, just forgot to post it here.

Anyhow, this is good fight at this division, I like Shakur chances so I would say that he can win this fight against the more experience Herring. Yes, they don't have a good record for winning a fight in a knock out fashion, but still Shakur some some technical skills that can offset Herring's physical advantage. Herring though most of the time doesn't know how to take advantage of his height, so it might favour Shakur again. Let's wait for the odds to come out, maybe Shakur will the slight favourite, but not that far.
5674  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Oscar Valdez vs Robson Conceicao - Sept 10th on: September 11, 2021, 09:42:47 PM
I have Oscar just winning slightly on my scorecard, but his performance is bad, in my opinion. It's too bad that Robson was very close to become a world champion, but he let his feet of the pedal, that's why Oscar was able to recover and come back and win the fight. What I don't like though is one judge scoring it for Valdez 117-111.

I'm locking the thread now, let's continue our discussion on the potential fighter that Oscar might face next, [Boxing] Jamel Herring vs Shakur Stevenson.
5675  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Bull Tamed on: September 09, 2021, 01:21:17 PM
bitcoin has broken the 50k benchmark frequently and even at the moment, the price of bitcoin is still above $50,000, which still represents a full scale bull market.
Well, if it's hovering around the 50k resistance.then problem bitcoin market is having a hard time doing what they have to do which is break through and set another point to stay or hover around. But either way we think of what's happening to the market right now, I don't think that we have anything to worry about as bitcoin's only way is up.

now the price of bitcoin has reached $ 52k after successfully breaking through the price resistance of $ 50k and if the market is in a positive state of course the price can increase again, especially now that bitcoin has been adopted by several countries in the world. although the analysis and predictions are not always correct but at least we are still optimistic that the bitcoin price will be able to reach its ATH again and of course what we have to do now is buy bitcoin and hold it until the bitcoin price is high again Grin

After you posted this, the price suddenly goes down hard to $43k, so obviously, we are not in the positive state in the last 2 days, although a good bounce to $46k has been achieved and it seems that we are green already.

I'm not sure what several countries you are talking here, it was El Salvador initially and we haven't heard any country to follow. But I wouldn't say that the bitcoin bull run has tamed, it just hit a wall right now.
5676  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb Plant on: September 08, 2021, 10:32:07 PM
So let's see what version of Caleb Plant will show, yes we don't underestimate him, but even if he works double hard, it might not be enough for beat Canelo in this fight.

In fact, I'm more seeing Caleb Plant is more determined to win here because of his status as an underdog.

Just thinking the recognition he will get if he will upset Canelo is already an inspirational to him and will make him more focus and serious to take down Alvares.

Can't wait for this match to happen.

Every underdog is determined to win, to proved that the betting public or at least sports bookies are wrong putting them as underdog.

Yes, it will be one of the biggest upsets of the year, more than Ugas defeating Pacquiao. But it's going to be a tall order of Caleb to even hit Canelo with a damaging punch that will change the fight itself. Not only you mate, everyone can't wait to see this fight, it's a reunification fight and Plant is the last guy standing for Canelo to get all the belts at 168 lbs.
5677  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: September 08, 2021, 09:56:10 PM
I saw a rumor today that Portland is looking into trading CJ McCollum for Ben Simmons to pair with Dame. That would be an interesting pairing in my eyes, but Dame and CJ are best friends so I’m not sure how true that is. I can’t see Dame giving the OK to Portland to ship off one of his best friends.

It will be somewhat odd and ironic if CJ will be the one to be traded. CJ defended Dame in his social media accounts and telling that Dame will stay with Portland, I also don't like that move from Portland, Dame + CJ looks solid in my opinion, it's just the role players that needs to be upgraded so that Portland will be a championship bound team. No need to break the chemistry between their superstars.
5678  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: End of bull run so we sell everything? on: September 08, 2021, 04:03:48 PM
This has been something I have found difficult to decide on . When this bill run ends in a couple of months time should I sell all my VET and XRP then buy back in when the market turns bearish until the next bullrun?

Or do I only sell a portion of what I have and hold the rest for another 4 years. Reason I am asking is could XRP and VET continue to rise once the bull run ends ? I obviously don’t want to sell all my tokens to find they are continuing to rise in a bear market

What are your thoughts ?

Rule of thumb is: You don't ask for financial advise because we are no experts here. What we can tell you today might not work for you in the future. So it's really up to you to decide and you are the only one that can really tell when to sell and when to buy again. After all, this is your money, so you have to be very careful with it. Also take into considerations if you are here for long or short term. Or as others have said, "invest what you can afford to lose", so that you won't feel that dilemma.
5679  Economy / Speculation / Re: How far can bitcoin price correction go? on: September 08, 2021, 03:23:42 PM
As per TA, if we maintain $43k (which is the average), then we are still in good levels.

But who knows, September could be a very volatile month, but hopefully, we can still bounce back and not hit below $43k and continue with this bullish sentiments. Yes, we did hit $43k, but then we have a good bounce in the last 24 hours at $46k, so maybe this is a good indication as the selling pressure has somewhat settled down.
5680  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador official wallet app @chivowallet go offline on: September 07, 2021, 11:03:21 PM
Today marked the history of Bitcoin becoming a legal tender, El Salvador a country in north-central America has become the first country to approve the operation and acceptance of Bitcoin as a legal currency.

The government wallet App chivowallet got overloaded in the early hours, which resulted in it going offline citizens are having miss feeling about the stability of the app and the El Salvador economy.

I think it's normal though, and it's obvious that the wallet provider faces some congestions, so it's going to be bumpy in the beginning. Even huge exchange such as Coinbase will suddenly went offline or in a maintenance mode when they are overwhelm by huge trading.

So the big question is how Chivo Wallet will react to this because for sure a lot of El Salvadorian are going to used their services. Consider this as one big test for them.
