That's great that she's focused on upping the user base including charities and non-profits. In 2011 alone, there was $300 Billion in charitable donations just from the USA let alone the rest of the world. Think about how great the PR would be if BTC, at minimum, became known as the unit for charitable givings especially across border lines. Even more so for disaster relief. Get the American Red Cross to start using send aid in BTC to other countries and BitPay could change it for dollars on the front and back end if needed. That'll jump market cap quite a bit. Good news is good news.

More Facts About The Tea-Party's "Goliath-Slayer" David Brat
Quote
Slowly but surely, more is being revealed about Eric Cantor's unknown until now (so unknown that his Wikipedia entry was only two sentences before Tuesday night) nemesis, the anti-big business, anti-Wall Street, anti establishment "Goliath-slayer" David Brat. In addition to our profile from this morning, here is the latest compilation of biographical factoids about the suddenly uber-famous tea party activist, who has written about the role of religion in economic growth. He is also a fan of the pro-capitalist novelist Ayn Rand. Here are some facts about Brat from Reuters.

There was another tea party victory yesterday. Bruce Poliquin won the Republican primary for the 2nd Congressional District seat in Maine, beating Kevin Raye of the establishment lobby by 55% to 45%.
Thx for pointing this out, I had no idea. Looks like the establishment blew their wad on their Senate nominees and the grassroots are able to fly under the radar, take out one of their leaders and add another good guy from an unexpected area.

^Yeah but when you got the likes of Rep Peter King the neocon freaking out about adding another Paul sympathizer into the House and beating one of their Aces, it's a great thing. Major bragging rights plus it helps similar minded other candidates running in their races and giving them a leg up against establishment candidates.

The news coming out is that Cantor is resigning his #2 position in leadership and there will be a new person getting voted in. The fact that this was seen as a referendum on amnesty and key neocons are freaking out about the "direction" of the party means Cantor is likely done. He won't go for a double embarrassment, he'll just get a lobbying spot and make a lot more money. He did his job for the insider establishment, played nice w/ Obama, raised some money and now gets to move on.

Dude, for the umteenth time CS doesn't matter as all our shit is locked off of that platform plus no divs are payed during a collapse on CS's issues. As for the ROI, it stands at a minimum of 200% all the way up to ~350%ish pa depending on market conditions. Again, there is no other security making money like this plus being responsible w/ their shareholder's stakes. And, the order book is telling the complete story. The free market value of these puppies is ticking upward just as I predicted and at a fast clip.

Too early to celebrate. I heard that Cantor is considering to contest the election as a write-in candidate. Considering that the constituency is heavily Republican, he may get the Democrat support. A repetition of the 2010 Alaska senate election? For sure, Cantor has the resources and funds to do the bogus voting and vote rigging.

That could be very risky.

Although GOP is expected (IMO) to gain seats in the house it is generally not good to risk any seats to the other party.

Having two republicans run against each other greatly increases the chances of a Democrat winning the seat.

you know, the funny thing is that republicans get the lower amount of votes, but end up winning more seats due to gerrymandering.

http://library.cqpress.com/elections/document.php?id=rcookltr-1527-84193-2523552

democrats aren't as organized or vicious as republicans, hence them being mocked as pussies.

You obviously don't live in a heavily unionized state or are simply not paying attention.

oh please. i'm talking about the politicians and the wealthy billionaires who pay them to make certain laws. labor unions do buy off politicians too, but not even close to the impact of the koch brothers, roger ailes, rupbert murdoch, and george soros. it makes sense you're from texas though.

unions don't have nearly enough money to bribe the politicians too.

^They're the guys that are the known political donation watch dog group. You'll find everything you'll need to form an honest and informed opinion after scanning it. Koch bros are usually associated w/ giving money to tea party or liberty movement candidates, Ailes and Murdoch are typically mainstream establishment donors and Soros is a raging leftist donor. That said, the unions' donations reign supreme. Let's face it whenever any of these unions are given a govt contract to fix roads or whatever a certain percentage of that money (our taxpayer money) is rerouted in the form of union dues back to democratic candidates.

He blew his was already and of course the big wigs can double down if they want but this headline is too big and embarrassing to ride it to victory. Brat is going to be loaded up w/ conservative/libertarian money. If the rigging would've happened it would've happened today. Not to mention, the district party officers and delegates were pushing for Brat. Cantor had this coming for a while now. He was sacrificed at the alter of big establishment republican government. The establishment can either play tough guy here and ruin their image even more thus riling up more grassroots anger or live to fight another day.

it's funny because the republicans have been trying to marginalize the teabaggers, but apparently they (and the koch brothers) have created a monster that is possibly too big to destroy now. what i want to know is how can cantor go in with a conceived 34% lead in the polls, yet lose..
Social media, right wing conservative talk host support and GOTV. Plus, as I alluded to my other thread the district party's delegates were heavily in favor of Brat and likely did a lot of the legwork needed to produce turnout.

Also, any of you remember numnuts Rep Mike Rogers (aka NSA loving pro-surveillance state motherfucker), well his seat is now open in mid Michigan and our guy state rep Tom McMillin is taking on Rogers' clone former state house speaker Mike Bishop. This Cantor race is likely going to give major momentum to McMillin. Heck, even Rep Amash's challenger is probably shitting right now. @beetcoin It is a huge story: you posted while I was typing/editing this post.

Has everyone heard about Eric Cantor getting beat in Virginia by a long-shot candidate?
It is a HUGE upset:

1) Cantor is/was a 'rare' house member with national name recognition.
2) He was widely viewed as the next Speaker of The House.
3) The 'tea party guy' wasn't expected to win.

When I have time, I need to check if the winner is a "real Liberty candidate" or just a "tea party" establishment phoney (i.e like Scott Brown, Marco Rubio, etc)
Yep, Brat is a solid pro-liberty guy and I know people that were working on his campaign. This is definitely one for the history books and a big slap across the establishment's face. I've already put a tweet into Brat to get him to accept Bitcoin, so if he opens up the tap I hope yall will join me and put up some renegade money. Grin

Remember my thread that no one cared about relating to the District Convention that Cantor tried to steer away from the grassroots? Well, he got punked out tonight by an Economics professor Dave Brat in the 7th Congressional District of Virginia's Primary. This is Front and Center on The Drudge Report right now and is seen as putting the nail in the coffin on amnesty for illegal immigrants but the real story is how anti-NSA Brat is which is groovy for our types. He's pretty libertarian-ish on most things and will be a great ally in the House along side the Amash's and Massie's. BTW, Drudge is The Go-To site for all things politics and news in the US.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- In an upset for the ages, Majority Leader Eric Cantor of Virginia, the second-most powerful man in the House, was dethroned Tuesday by a little-known, tea party-backed Republican primary challenger who rolled to victory on a wave of public anger over calls for looser immigration laws.

""This is a miracle from God that just happened," exulted David Brat, a political science professor as his victory became clear in the congressional district around Richmond.

Speaking to downcast supporters, Cantor conceded, "Obviously we came up short."

Quote
Brat teaches at Randolph-Macon College, a small liberal arts school north of Richmond. He raised just over $200,000 for his campaign, while Cantor spent more than $1 million in April and May alone to try to beat back his challenge.

Washington-based groups also spent heavily in the race. The American Chemistry Council, whose members include many blue chip companies, spent more than $300,000 on TV ads promoting Cantor in the group's only independent expenditure so far this election year. Political arms of the American College of Radiology, the National Rifle Association and the National Association of Realtors also spent money on ads to promote Cantor.
To hell w/ the NRA that phony hunting and pro-police state fraud of a 2nd Amendment outfit. GOA or NAGR are the best groups, I'm a member of both.

Also interesting
Quote
The Russians are actually making a move against the petrodollar. It appears that they are quite serious about their de-dollarization strategy. The largest natural gas producer on the planet, Gazprom, has signed agreements with some of their biggest customers to switch payments for natural gas from U.S. dollars to euros. And Gazprom would have never done this without the full approval of the Russian government, because the Russian government holds a majority stake in Gazprom. There hasn't been a word about this from the big mainstream news networks in the United States, but this is huge. When you are talking about Gazprom, you are talking about a company that is absolutely massive. It is one of the largest companies in the entire world and it makes up 8 percent of Russian GDP all by itself. It holds 18 percent of the natural gas reserves of the entire planet, and it is also a very large oil producer. So for Gazprom to make a move like this is extremely significant.

When Barack Obama decided to slap some meaningless economic sanctions on Russia a while back, he probably figured that the world would forget about them after a few news cycles.

But the Russians do not forget, and they certainly do not forgive.

At this point the Russians are turning their back on the United States, and that includes the U.S. dollar.

As well as Justin Amash, John Duncan, Walter Jones, Matt Salmon, Steve Stockman, Paul Broun and I'm sure quite a few others that have conservativish (fiscally) leaning voting records at least.

Justin Amash is a great guy. One of the few representatives, who had the balls to criticize the National Security Agency and the PATRIOT Act. But he is facing a very tough primary challenge this year, from Brian Ellis.

Justin Amash is one of the best in congress, he needs to win.
Primaries are that late in Mich?.....checking the date:
"...the primary contests will take place on August 5, 2014"
That doesn't leave much time for the general election battle, wonder why they do that?
The primary has always been in early August and then a runoff happens if needed in Sept. I'm up for reelection in the primary for my delegate status but I'm likely running unopposed. Grin Guess the general all leans on getting your people out to vote but since this is a mid term election of a president's second term, the voting will skew republican from top to bottom here in MI and many other places. There won't be as much turn out from urban types affecting things in off years.

Insurgents seize Iraqi city of Mosul as troops flee

All key facilities are now controlled by the insurgents, including the airport and the prisons, said Nujaifi, who is from Mosul.

The capture of the airport, which had served as a major hub for the U.S. military, could not be independently confirmed, but Nujaifi said it had been seized and that all of the aircraft there also were captured.

Maliki is urging the United States to deliver more advanced weaponry, but ISIS fighters have already been seen riding round in U.S.-supplied Humvees in other areas they control, and much of the weaponry captured in this latest battle is likely to be American, Lister said.

The speed with which one of Iraq’s biggest cities has fallen under militant control is striking and suggests the U.S.-trained Iraqi security forces are even more vulnerable than had previously been thought.

Let's face it, it's not like this US trained Iraqi Security force would want to die for some false state of alleged democracy setup by some illegal war for the last decade. Geez, did these middle east wars get rid of the terrorists or summon up that much more of them? Way to go, Dubya!

Rep. Justin Amash: Challenger Brian Ellis running on unpopular issues in Third District race

By Andrew Krietz
on June 09, 2014 at 3:28 PM

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — It's been a relatively quiet spring from U.S. Rep. Justin Amash's campaign, though it's better not to expect the same ahead of the Aug. 5 primary.

The incumbent Republican said he'll soon be gearing up to defend his bid for reelection against challenger Brian Ellis, who has been running advertisements against the congressman on West Michigan television for months. As the summer heats up, expect the rhetoric among the camps to increase, too.

Toward the end of May, the Michigan Information and Research Service, or MIRS tracked Amash and Ellis at 42 percent over 23 percent, respectively.

Amash, R-Cascade Township, told MLive and The Grand Rapids Press late last week that his lead is sustainable while the Ellis campaign has tried to paint the lead as one that is shrinking with each new poll.

Both agree MIRS' survey parallels internal numbers measured by each of the campaigns.

"I feel very confident going into election day," Amash said. "If I were Ellis, I wouldn't be bragging about being down 19 points."

The race is marked by the candidates' widely different ideologies, and it already has been highlighted by national media outlets as mirroring the national rift between tea party and "establishment" Republicans.

Amash: Ellis not a ‘serious or credible candidate’

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — U.S. Rep. Justin Amash will not participate in a debate with Republican primary challenger Brian Ellis, he told 24 Hour News 8 in a statement, saying Ellis is not a serious candidate in the race for the U.S. Third Congressional District seat.

After 24 Hour New 8 issued the invitation for a live debate between the two Republican candidates, Amash’s campaign team replied last week in a statement.

Ellis “isn’t a serious or credible candidate,” that statement said in part. “Unlike most of his colleagues, Rep. Amash has held dozens of public town halls since entering Congress, which provide the opportunity for anyone, including Ellis, to have a discussion with him about the issues. To our knowledge, Ellis has never attended one. We appreciate the invitation, and we encourage Ellis to do his own public appearances.”

Ellis had accepted 24 Hour News 8′s invitation to a debate.

“Voters should be allowed to have a choice. They should be able to hear from both candidates, and the debate is a good way to do that. And so, for him to run scared of it, that’s up to him,” Ellis told 24 Hour News 8 Monday. “I’m ready to debate. I’ve accepted your invitation. I’ve accepted others.”

Amash’s statement also said that Ellis’ “feckless smear campaign” and polls have shown the Ellis isn’t a “serious or credible candidate.”
