Quick question, don't mean to interrupt but--
What happens to mining pools if Butterfly labs is legit?
Would I be able to go get my own butterfly box and flap my wings to riches without investing in online rig companies?
Well you could do that. I imagine that the mining pools will do the same though. Goat has already talked about getting FPGAs once they are a bit cheaper. I run my own miner and also own shares of TyGrr Tech. You don't have to pick one. I would love to see every person with an FPGA in their house, but until that's possible, I was just thinking that at this point all the mining companies would be using them. Is it still not as viable as GPU rigs?

Keep at it. Some graph analysis people might be able to find irregularities, even in coin mixing services, that can be tracked. Also, it would be good if exchanges comment whether any target addresses proven dirty are theirs. I never had a wallet with them, but that doesn't make me a bit less angry about it. Tracking down these MyBitcoin operators would make a good example and possibly reduce the incentive for fraud. It's a real service to all of us. These people are the real enemies of the Bitcoin community. Get them! This is getting beyond interesting. MyBitcoin con job now results in community working hard to find innovative ways around the presumed (pseudo)anonymity of the system. Tinfoil hat on... Shouldn't the community work hard to find innovative ways to help people protect themselves from themselves instead? I think it would be a lot more positive to focus on prevention instead of reaction and retribution. To be an ol' fuddy duddy: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. YOU GUYS NEED TO SEE THIS! HTTP://MYBITCOlN.COM

Aww. This sucks. Mods took down my gag mybitcoin.com thread

You shouldn't fraction off bitcoins like that. It makes them eventually cost more than they are worth.

Here's my take which in no way agrees, or disagrees, with Luke-Jr.
I donated 1 BTC to that endeavor, caring less what happens to the coin(s). It wasn't run as tight I would have liked it to be, but I'll assume he did his best. Prior to this, there wasn't an award thingy. Now there's possibly a second one in the works. Therefore, even if this is considered a total fuck up, something good has come of it. I feel that no major harm was done, but am also glad to see this thread, Luke-Jr.
As far as the Oscars is concerned, the very first one was considered a scam at the time. The best actor was robbed of receiving his award. He was taken off the list, although he was the best actor at that time and for years to follow. Care to give a stab of who that actor was? (question directed toward the reader and not at Luke-Jr specifically)

Email me at contact@bitcoinbetas.com to send payment thanks Bruno. Listen, it's great and all that you wanted to participate in the community. Everyone should be more like that. The problem here is that you didn't do a good job and the contest really only served to boost your blog ratings. As I mentioned before, I'm sure we all appreciate the effort because it's very uncommon for people to get involved in the community and risk embarrassment (as you did and are being) but having thick skin will save you here. That said, you have no excuse for why this was held so poorly and it is in fact a sham. Nice try though! If you're willing to try again, maybe people would take you seriously!

EDIT:
BitTalk.TV will interview Zhou Tong this week regarding the now famous Bitcoinica.com.
We’ll probe his mind on the making of bitcoinica, the issues he faced, the success of it, and his future projects. During the interview, Zhou Tong will be announcing some very important news that you won’t want to miss.
If you have a question you’d like Zhou Tong to answer during our interview, please post it below.
If it makes it on air, we’ll give you a free issue of BitTalk Magazine, the new digital magazine made for bitcoiners, by bitcoiners.
Everyone at BitTalk.TV would like to introduce themselves here and announce our plans for 2012 (which we are all very thrilled about).
For the sake of consolidation and avoiding spam, we’ll be putting all updates and announcements into this thread and changing the title of it accordingly.
In 2011, I had some fun with a webcam and some stories that I thought someone should talk about. That grew to a whole bunch of people being interested in doing it right and not the shitty way I was doing it alone.
After a pretty handsome donation from some hardcore bitcoiners and my inspiration to do something entertaining, I mostly ad-libbed an entire Christmas Special. It wasn’t meant to be serious, and it was coming right off the heels of a death in the family and our funds coming in late (e.g. we had 2 weeks to buy all the necessary equipment in Korea, plan, write and shoot everything, and none of us had worked together before).
We had some fun with a camera and now we know what not to do (like recording skype calls as AVI at a different framerate than our Premiere projects and to CS5.5 instead of trying to get 2 machines with CS4 and CS3 to work together well.)
After the Christmas Special, people knew that I was actually serious about what I’m doing, and by association what everyone who believes in BitTalk.TV is doing behind the scenes. With that came another handsome donation of proper state of the art rendering hardware.
We’ve come a long way from CosbyCoin webcam announcements and recording everything on my iPhone, but we’re still only getting warmed up. We’ve got a digital magazine planned for release at the end of the month as well.
The idea behind bittalk.tv is a simple one-- provide some actual quality entertainment in combination with some vivid education. Something we want to stay away from is 45 minute self-important interviews, crackhead-like fidgetting, and constantly belittling everyone who comes on our shows.
We truly hope the community supports us for what we do, but the bottom line is, even if they don't, we're doing it anyway because it's fun and we want to.
The day before yesterday when I gave an interview with Charlie Shrem of BitInstant, he told me that bitcoin needs a proper media outlet and that he believes we can be it. I hope nothing I do fucks it up, and that's why I try to get others involved in what I do-- to make sure it has the proper substance in addition to the obvious enthusiasm that comes out my every hole. With time, the things I record will stop looking like they came out of the larger of those holes.
Thanks.
This thread is live! That means that the topic will change and all future announcements will be posted directly here. Might want to subscribe!

And how does that price compare with what you would expect to pay per click at other sites?
I paid 2 btc for 200 clicks on dailybitcoins.org, so this is really high, and I would never do this again. The price is not worth the return. Dailybitcoins.org hardly counts as advertising, and their clicks are just people trying to get paid, not people interested in the service. I take out joke ads there all the time and get disgusting amounts of clicks... You should probably start paying Matthew to write clever ads for you, even though he has fat fingers. lasd kh asfgh o0bu8 0eu pboins osd sb ods o !22

Thank God. So then +1 to both pimpcoin and bit-pay (except for the completely HORRIBLE looking website).

I love the product, But honestly i would not ever buy something that has the label PIMP on it... Not everyone likes what that word means. Have you considered any alternative names?
+1. This idea is an old one, a good one, I'm glad someone made it look so professional, but jesus christ you just cut off 99% of the rest of the world from using it, ever.
